Redskins’ Moss to RG III: Take some blame

Inexperienced Questions RG III’s Management

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has taken quite a lot of hits this season, but the newest comes from an unexpected place – his own huddle.

On Tuesday, veteran Redskins extensive receiver Santana Moss went on 106.7 The Fan in D.C., and stated that when things go wrong, gamers must take extra private accountability – particularly Washington’s franchise quarterback.

Moss If we’re going to win games, we have to win games with our man saying, ‘At the finish of the day, I did not make a play,’ no matter if it wasn’t him.

- Santana Moss

“If we will win games, we have to win video games with our guy saying, ‘On the finish of the day, I did not make a play,’ regardless of if it wasn’t him,” Moss said on the “LaVar and Dukes” present. “And that’s how I really feel. Because that is what we’re on the market to do.”

Moss’ feedback come after Griffin seemed to take his personal sly shot at the failings of the Redskins that resulted in an interception on the workforce’s ultimate play in Sunday’s 24-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We had a certain idea with running and no one bought open so I used to be backing up, and within the scenario where you get a sack there, it ends the game,” Griffin said Sunday of the staff’s last play. “I used to be trying to throw the ball to the back of the top zone. It didn’t get to where I wished it to go.”

Griffin’s desperation heave ended up in the arms of defensive back Brandon Boykin, and Eagles quarterback Nick Foles took a knee to end the game.

The loss dropped the Redskins, the defending NFC East champions, to three-7.

“As a leader, you understand that should you’re concerned in the situation, whether you’re the receiver, the quarterback, the fellows making the tackle, whoever – regardless of the end result, good or dangerous, you have to in some unspecified time in the future, get up and say me or I,” Moss stated.

Moss drove his level residence even further.

“I don’t need to be going back and forth within the media about who did not do this and who didn’t do what,” Moss mentioned. “On the end of the day, I was seen with the ball in my hand last, as a quarterback I’m saying, and if it didn’t get finished then I will let you realize it was me. Whether it was me or not. It was me. And I’ll get higher. And we’ll get higher collectively.”

Griffin, Moss and the final-place Redskins will look to shed their two-game shedding streak once they host the San Francisco 49ers on ESPN’s “Monday Evening Football.”

NFL Week 11 Game Recap- Saints Win 23-20 To Remain Perfect At Home

San Francisco 49ers (6-4)- 20

New Orleans Saints (8-2)- 23

Line: NO -3.5

Over/Under: 50.0

New Orleans kicker Garret Hartley kicks three 4th quarter field goals and the game winning 31-yarder as time expires as the Saints rally late to beat the San Francisco 49ers 23-20 on Sunday to stay in first place in the NFC South and remain perfect at home with a 6-0 mark.

With the Saints trailing late in the fourth 20-17, New Orleans got a break when an apparent forced fumble by Ahmad Brooks and recovered by Patrick Willis became a 15-yard penalty when Brooks was flagged for an illegal hit to the neck of Drew Brees that left him bloodied.

It was very frustrating. The game could have gone a totally different direction than what it went,” Brooks said. “I was just mad because that was a big play in the game. We lost, and that’s probably the reason why.”

All I remember is just getting clothes-lined in the chin and as I’m on the ground, I’m saying, ‘That’s got to be a flag,’” Brees said. “One of my teammates kind of picked me up and said, ‘Are you alright?’ and he said, ‘Don’t worry, there’s a flag.’

I said, ‘All right, good.’ Just took a moment, and you’ve got to get ready to go.”

After the penalty was assessed, Brees guided his offense down the field where the Saints had to settle for a tying 42-yard kick with 2:06 left.

Hartley, who had missed four field goals in the Saints’ previous three games, was not to be denied in this one as he made all three of his field goal attempts in the fourth quarter, including the game winner.

This team and this coaching staff and this organization never took their foot off the gas with me and here we are sitting at 8-2 and getting ready for Atlanta,” Hartley said.

San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick passed for two touchdowns, but had another sub-par performance numbers wise with only 127 yards passing on 17 of 31 and sacked three times against one of the league’s best defenses as the 49ers (6-4) lost their second straight to fall 3½ games behind Seattle in the NFC West.

The greater the challenge, the greater the glory,” Niners coach Jim Harbaugh said. “That’s the way I look at it. I’m proud of our guys for the way they fight, and if we continue to do that, we’re going to win a lot of games.”

New Orleans (8-2) remains in first place 1½ games ahead of Carolina with the Panthers playing on Monday night against New England.

Bress finished 30 of 43 for 305 yards and one touchdown, but the team as a whole committed three turnovers, but thankfully the Saints defense did enough to keep them in it with a chance to escape with one.

You’re going to have games like this, Brees said. “You still find a way to win against a playoff-caliber opponent with a lot at stake at this point in the season. That says a lot.”

New Orleans receiver Marcus Colston finished with five catches for 80 yards to become the Saint’s all-time leader in yards receiving with 7,930, passing Eric Martin’s two-decade-old-mark of 7,854.

It’s definitely an awesome accomplishment,” Colston said. “It had a lot to do with some of the guys in this locker room and this coaching staff, but we’re in the midst of something a lot more meaningful right now.”

NFL Prediction Week 11 Game Preview/Pick- 49ers vs. Saints

49ers vs Saints Prediction and Pick

San Francisco 49ers (6-3) @ New Orleans Saints (7-2) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: NO -3.0

Over/Under: 47.5

Making their first trip to the Big Easy since this year’s Super Bowl loss, the San Francisco 49ers will have yet another challenge to face when they must find a way to slow down the New Orleans Saints… a team that thrives under the Superdome lights in an NFC showdown Sunday afternoon.

New Orleans (7-2) has been dominating this year at home, outscoring their opponents 176-75 while going undefeated at 5-0 and looking to stay ahead in the NFC South over the hot Carolina Panthers.

In what will be another measuring stick for both teams, the 49ers (6-3) will be trying to avoid back-to-back defeats after dropping a tough 10-9 home loss to the Panthers last Sunday at Candlestick.

We’ve got a tough game coming up, and we’re not going to wallow in (the loss to Carolina),” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said. “We’re going to move to New Orleans.”

New Orleans will be looking to win yet another home game after last weeks thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys on national television where they accumulated a regular season team-record 625 yards and recorded an NFL-record 40 first downs against the Dallas defense.

You don’t play many games like that, and every once in a while you find yourself on the good end and sometimes you find yourself once in a while on the bad end,” New Orleans coach Sean Payton said. “You hope when your career is done you have more experiences on the good end.”

The Saints also found some balance against the Cowboys on the offensive side of the ball where Drew Bress passed for 392 yards and the running game came up big with 242 yards after going in averaging only 79.8 yards per contest.

It’s important for us to have that balance,” Payton said.

Bress is on fire at home where he has completed 74.4 percent of his passes and averaged 367.2 yards passing while tossing 18 touchdowns and only two interceptions… none in the last three home games.

If not that wasn’t enough, the Saints average 463.6 yards and 35.2 points per game at the Dome, but San Francisco’s defense ranks fourth in the league allowing only 17.2 points per game, so something as to give.

And, it’s that 49ers defense that the oddsmakers are banking on making the Saints only slight favorites with only a (minus) -3.0 in the latest line spread, but as always, Wonder Punter will provide the latest odds up until kickoff, so check back often.

With last weeks loss still fresh in their minds, San Francisco must focus their attention on the offensive side of the ball where the Saints defense is allowing only 18.1 points.

After averaging 34.8 points a game during their five-game win streak and 357.6 yards, the Niners could only put together 9 points on 151 yards total against the Panthers.
The way we look at it as a unit. Offensively, we didn’t play well enough to win the game,” Harbaugh said. “Across the board, we take accountability for that and have fingerprints on it. I’m not going to go through and dissect position by position, raking anybody over the coals. I don’t think that’s the best thing for us.”

Coach Harbaugh added… “I think their mindset will be what it’s always been, it’s a blue-collar mindset. That involves fixing things, building things, sutures in our hands and the weapons are in our hands, our fate is in our hands.”

With Mario Manningham making his season debut last week, he will provide an added boost to an offensive looking to get back on track.

Tight end Vernon Davis is questionable for Sunday after suffering a concussion against the Panthers and receiver Michael Crabtree is an outside shot for his season debut following his Achilles injury in May.

San Francisco has won two straight over the Saints, but come Sunday and the way the New Orleans plays at home, I would be hard-pressed not to go with the Saints as my favorite.

PICK: New Orleans

49ers LB Aldon Smith vows to stay healthy, clean (Yahoo Sports)

ANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Aldon Smith believes he is on the path to being sober for good.

Part of the process for the San Francisco 49ers’ All-Pro linebacker to rejoin the team following a five-week stint in rehab included a verbal commitment to the NFL that he would stay out of trouble and keep clean.

”I think any time we could all look into our lives and find something we need to work on,” Smith said Tuesday, seemingly relaxed. ”I’ve taken my time and I’ve done that.”

A clean-cut Smith – hair trimmed from his previous long, curly cut – returned to the 49ers’ locker room after his long absence and five missed games to cheers from teammates who chanted his first name. Everybody knows what he means to this franchise and defense – and the 49ers are hopeful he is as healthy as he looks and ready to return to the field as soon as Sunday’s home game with Carolina.

”I’m getting there. Every day’s just a step closer to getting to where I want to be,” Smith said at his locker after practice. ”I’ve gotten a lot of support, from my family, friends, organization, teammates and everything. And it really says a lot that people care about me outside the field and they care about me as a person.”

Smith had been on an indefinite paid leave of absence before being activated to the 53-man roster Thursday, two days after he turned himself in to Santa Clara County authorities on weapons charges. He met last Wednesday with team officials.

The fearsome pass-rusher is in shape despite a couple of extra pounds gained during his stint at an in-patient treatment center for substance abuse. He was at a facility outside California, he said, while declining to offer further details. He said he returned to the Bay Area on Oct. 28 after entering rehab in late September – and he was away for his 24th birthday Sept. 25.

Defensive teammate and fellow linebacker Patrick Willis is among those who sent periodic text messages to Smith during his time away.

”Aldon has been a guy since he came in who has been very productive for our defense, has been a playmaker for our defense,” Willis said. ”To get him back is a good thing, then, too, with his absence we were able to develop some depth with some of the other guys. It’s really going to be a strong point for us. When you have a guy such as Aldon with his talent, the biggest thing we can do for him is just let him know we’re here for him, let him know that we’re his teammates, but the main thing is just let him grow on his own.”

Smith played in a 27-7 home loss to the Colts on Sept. 22 and had five tackles just two days after he was arrested and jailed on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession. He apologized for his behavior after the game then later announced he would leave for treatment.

So I was able to keep up with the guys and chime in here and there and wish them good luck.”

Smith had a franchise-record 19 1/2 sacks last season for the NFC champions. He has 4 1/2 sacks and 18 tackles over three games in 2013.

NFL Scores Sunday Night Football Recap- Texans vs. 49ers

NFL Scores Sunday nights football recap – Texans vs 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers (3-2) have appeared to have found their winning ways once again after what was supposed to be a battle of two good football teams turned into a one-sided affair, as the Houston Texans (2-3) were embarrassed in a prime-time showdown on Sunday night 34-3.

The San Francisco defense had three interceptions on the night, the first of the three taken back for a touchdown just 90 seconds into the game.

Struggling Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub threw three picks on the night before being lifted in the fourth quarter, but Houston coach Gary Kubiak said afterward Schaub would remain the his starter… for now.

It’s a broken record right now. It looked the same,” Kubiak said. “Hopefully, that’s rock bottom tonight.”

Matt Schaub has had four straight games where an interception was returned for a touchdown. A first for an NFL quarterback.

The 49ers have had two impressive prime-time games and now at 3-2 find themselves right back in the race in the NFC West with the now (4-1) Seattle Seahawks who lost earlier on the day.

San Francisco have outscored their last two opponents by a score of 69-14. In their two back-to-back losses, they were outscored 56-10 to Seattle and Indianapolis.

We’re the 49ers. When we’re on, we can do whatever we want to do,” Gore said. “That’s probably the best front we’ve gone through all season, and up front our O-line did the job. If it’s smash-mouth football, we’ll do it.”

Tramaine Brock of the Niners had two of the three picks on the night. The Texans also coughed up the ball up twice on fumbles for five total miscues for the game.

That’s what we’re striving for, turnovers,” he said. “We’ve got them. I just did my job and tried to step up.”

San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick was an unimpressive six of fifteen for only 113 yards and one touchdown, however it was all about the 49er defense that won the game.

Next up for the 49ers are the Arizona Cardinals and Houston looks to rebound against the Rams.

NFL Sunday Night Football Preview/Pick Texans vs. 49ers

NFL Sunday Night Football Preview/Pick Texans vs. 49ers

Houston Texans (2-2) @ San Francisco 49ers (2-2) 10/6 8:30PM EST

Line: SF -6.5

Over/Under: 41.5

In what figures to be a good battle between two football teams looking to get back to their winning ways, the Houston Texans travel into Candlestick Park on Sunday night for a Sunday night clash with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers have regained some confidence in their play following a dominating win against the lowly St. Louis Rams last Thursday night 35-11. Coach Jim Harbaugh said, “I thought the team stared adversity in the face (with) a lot of grit and determination. The guys played with great energy and great toughness.”

Expectations have been high for both teams this season. Many thought to be Super Bowl contenders, however the Texans and Niners have both struggled early. San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick says, “We know the talent we have on this team. We know what we are capable of.”

San Francisco is still without All-Pro Aldon Smith (rehab facility), and Patrick Willis (groin) is still uncertain.

Winning betting sytem Click Here!

As for Houston, after starting the season 2-0, they have dropped their last two games, and want to avoid losing three straight. Quarterback Matt Schaub needs to improve after being picked off for six interceptions so far. But, despite the struggles of Schaub, Texans coach Gary Kubiak has no plans to make a quarterback change. “We’re a very capable football team, but we’ve got to be a more consistent football team.” On Schaub, Kubiak says, “ He’s our quarterback.”

Expect the Texans to rely heavily on running back Arian Foster more on Sunday night, who rushed for 171 total yards last Sunday against a good Seahawks’ defense. The Texans may be without All-Pro linebacker Brian Cushing (concussion), who leads the team with 33 tackles.

The Texans and 49ers have split their previous two meetings. Each winning at home by three points.

I believe both are still a lot better then their record indicates. If Texan quarterback Matt Schaub can be more consistent, and stay away with costly interceptions, I like their chances. In the end though, I believe with the 49ers playing at home will give them enough win in a close one.

Sunday night’s game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, and Monday night’s game between the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints will be covered more in depth upcoming soon.

First let’s take a look at the early games and here are my NFL Week 4 Picks and game previews

Baltimore Ravens (2-1) @ Buffalo Bills (1-2) 9/29 1:00 EST

Line: BAL -3.0

Over/Under 44.0

The Ravens go into Buffalo with their much improved defense since losing to Denver, having not given up a touchdown in their last 2 games. Tall order with Buffalo’s quick run offense, but I do see the Ravens coming away with a victory as I believe the defense will do enough to contain the Bills. Prediction: Baltimore Ravens

Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) @ Cleveland Browns (1-2) 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: CIN -4.0

Over/Under 42.5

After last weeks thrilling victory at home against the Green Bay Packers, I look for the Bengals to continue their winning ways against the Browns, a team they have beaten 7 out of 9 times the last few seasons. With the Browns’ trading away RB Trent Richardson, and appointing of third-string QB Brian Hoyer, I don’t like their chances. Bengals win easily.

Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals

Chicago Bears (3-0) @ Detroit Lions (2-1) 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: DET -3.0

Over/Under 47.5

This should be a game to watch as the Detroit Lions look to end their struggles against the NFC North rivals Chicago Bears, who are looking to go 4-0 for the first time in seven years. Although, the Lions get back their flashy RB Reggie Bush back in their offensive mix, I believe the Bears will continue their recent dominance of the Lions and see them winning in a close one on the road.

Prediction: Chicago Bears

New York Giants (0-3) @ Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: -4.0 Over/Under 44.0

Tough task for the New York Giants to go into Kansas City, in search of their first win of the season, against a Chiefs team playing well on both sides of the ball. Although, I expect a better performance from the Giants following last weeks shutout loss to the Panthers, I don’t see them leaving Kansas City with a victory. Chiefs are playing with a lot of confidence, and see them remaining perfect.

So this NFL week 4 Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3) vs. Minnesota Vikings (0-3) @ Wembley Stadium London, England 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: PIT -3.0 Over/Under 42.0

Both teams look to get into the win column, as they play in the NFL’s annual International Series at the famed Wembley Stadium in London. I see the Steelers having the better chance to win, as Viking QB Christian Ponder is struggling to lead the Viking offense in the early season. Vikings gave one away last week to the Browns. The Steelers to win going away late. Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers Arizona Cardinals (1-2) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3) 1:00PM EST

Line: TB -1.0 Over/Under 40.5

With the Bucs deciding to pull QB Josh Freeman in favor of rookie QB Mike Glennon to help spark the struggling offense, I don’t see it being enough to give the Bucs their first win of the season. Arizona has a bunch of injuries, but I have more confidence in their offense to get the job done on the road. Cardinals in a close one.

My NFL week 4 PickPrediction: Arizona Cardinals Indianapolis Colts (2-1) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: IND -7.5 Over/Under 42.5

The hot Indianapolis Colts, fresh off their big win of the 49ers last week, go into Jacksonville to play a Jaguar team many believe, are the worst team in football. I agree! Colts in a runaway. For sure pick here. Colts Prediction: Indianapolis Colts

Seattle Seahawks (3-0) @ Houston Texans (2-1) 9/29 1:00PM EST

Line: -2.0

Over/Under 41.5

Great match up here, and the first real true test on the road for the Seattle Seahawks, who look to remain unbeaten. Many critics have the Seahawks as the best team in football. I have them second behind the Broncos, until they can prove they can win on the road. Tough one to call… but I see the Texans winning in a close one. Must see game!

Prediction: Houston Texans

New York Jets (2-1) @ Tennessee Titans (2-1) 9/29 4:05PM EST

Line: TEN -3.5

Over/Under 40.0

Should be an interesting game, as Jets rookie QB Geno Smith looks to continue to carry the Jets to victory. I like what I see in the Titans’ offense led by QB Jake Locker, and have the Titans winning easily.

Prediction: Tennessee Titans

Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) @ Denver Broncos (3-0) 9/29 4:25PM EST

Line: DEN -11.0

Over/Under 57.5

This is also a must watch game in my book, not that I expect too close of a game, but the offenses of both teams should keep us entertained. Expect lots of points in this one, however, the majority of those points coming from the best team in football.. the Denver Broncos! Fun one to watch.

Prediction: Denver Broncos

Washington Redskins (0-3) @ Oakland Raiders (1-2) 9/29 4:25PM EST

Line: WSH -3.5

Over/Under 43.5

I think the key to this game is weather Raider QB Terrelle Pryor will be available to start, after last weeks concussion at Denver. Redskin QB RG3 seems to be on his way back to the quarterback he was last year. Redskins will be playing with a sense of urgency, as they look to notch their first win of the year. Close one to call.. comes down to availability of Terrelle Pryor to give the Raiders a chance to win.

Prediction: Toss-Up (Pick-Em)

Dallas Cowboys (2-1) @ San Diego Chargers (1-2) 9/29 4:25PM EST

Line: DAL -1.0

Over/Under 47.0

Americas Team,” the Dallas Cowboys go into San Diego to battle a team, who have played much better then their record, having given away two games to the Texans and Titans. Cowboys look to establish themselves as a team who this year should be taken seriously as playoff contenders. Another good game to watch. I see the Chargers playing a complete game and winning late.

Prediction: San Diego Chargers

There you go with all the games on the main docket, and my NFL Week 4 pick´s and predictions for this Sunday. Good luck!

Free-kick excitement at end of half falls short with Phil Dawson’s failed attempt

(USA At this time Sports Photographs) Have you learnt the NFL’s free-kick rule? For those who have been watching the top of the primary half of Thursday’s recreation between the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams, you bought a tutorial. You simply did not see history being made.

The rule is an obscure one. Any group that fair catches a punt then can subsequently attempt a free kick, like a kickoff, that counts for three factors if it goes by the uprights. One of the best half? The protection cannot rush the kick.

That actual scenario performed out on the finish of the first half when the Rams couldn’t run the clock out because the 49ers used all their timeouts. When Kyle Williams truthful caught the ball on the San Francisco 39-yard line, it appeared that Jim Harbaugh would then send out Colin Kaepernick for a ultimate Hail Mary heave with only seconds remaining on the clock.

Not so quick!

The sneaky, obscure-rule-loving Harbaugh instead despatched out kicker Phil Dawson for what would have been double historical past.

The Chargers’ Ray Wersching is believed to be the last person in league history to successfully make a free kick, hitting a 45-yarder against the Buffalo Payments in 1976, though many have tried them through the years, together with Neil Rackers in 2008.

However Dawson’s 71-yard kick would have bested the all-time lengthy mark of sixty three by nearly a whole first down. Sadly, it went method left. At the very least, it was a far more worthwhile try than Rackers’ was.

Maybe it was ill-conceived. Dawson, after all, had missed a fifty three-yard “regular” subject purpose earlier within the sport and is off to a troublesome start this season, having missed as many kicks as he is made since leaving the Cleveland Browns.

Oh nicely. In case you are a football geek, it was thrilling during the buildup.

Niners get back on track behind Gore, defense

Davis On 49ers’ Win

ST. LOUIS – Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes, Frank Gore had his first 100-yard sport of the season and the San Francisco 49ers’ defense stepped up with out some of their stars in a 35-eleven rout over the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night.

Anquan Boldin had five catches for ninety yards and a touchdown, and Gore had 153 yards on 20 carries and a 34-yard rating for San Francisco (2-2), which was outscored 56-10 the earlier two games. NaVorro Bowman had two of the 49ers’ five sacks with a strip resulting in a fourth-quarter scoring run by Anthony Dixon.

The Rams (1-3) had an extra time win and a tie against San Francisco last yr, and took the early lead Thursday before falling flat. Greg Zuerlein banged in a 40-yard field goal off the correct upright to finish a 9-recreation scoring drought within the first quarter, but the 49ers answered with 28 straight factors.

The 49ers got here near a Tremendous Bowl title in February and regained their footing in opposition to the team that gave them essentially the most bother final season. Minus cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and linebackers Patrick Willis and Aldon Smith, they quieted a raucous, hopeful crowd, sending all however a couple of thousand residence early.

Kaepernick had no landing passes and four interceptions the previous two weeks and completed fewer than 50 % of his passes. He was 15 for 23 for 167 yards.

Vernon Davis, after per week off to relaxation a hamstring damage, hauled in a 12-yard TD move from Colin Kaepernick within the third quarter, then celebrated with the 49ers quarterback afterward.

Boldin had a monster debut with the 49ers after helping the Ravens beat San Francisco in the Tremendous Bowl, however had been quiet together with the rest of the offense the previous two weeks. He had two highlight catches in the second quarter, a 42-yarder regardless of Cortland Finnegan getting flagged for holding, and a 20-yard rating capped by a dive into the end zone after barely avoiding the sideline.

Gore greater than doubled his output from the primary three weeks and obtained a lot more work, too, after totaling just 11 carries last week. Four days earlier, DeMarco Murray burned them for one hundred seventy five yards in Dallas’ 31-7 win.

The Rams have trailed by double digits in every game, making up an 11-level deficit towards Arizona in the opener but not gaps of 21 and 24 points in opposition to Atlanta and Dallas, and have been down by 25 in the fourth quarter against San Francisco.

They received hit by injuries, too, the worst of them when rookie security T.J. McDonald was carted off with a leg injury within the second half.

After mustering just 25 yards in the first quarter, the 49ers took a loud crowd out of it in the second, averaging more than eleven yards per snap while piling up 176 yards and two touchdowns. Kaepernick was eight for 12 for 104 yards in the half, all however eleven of these yards in the second quarter.

The Rams went for it on third-and-1 from the 49ers 34 and Donte Whitner’s diving interception in the end zone arrange an eight-play, eighty-yard drive capped by Gore’s 34-yard run on third-and-1 within the final minute that made it 14-three.

The San Francisco protection took Gore off the hook for getting stripped by rookie Alec Ogletree and a turnover, forcing St. Louis into a three-and-out. Davis, who had been questionable with a due to a hamstring injury, broke open for a straightforward catch in the left side of the top zone to push the result in 21-three.

Boldin entered with eighty three profession receptions against the Rams, the most of any opponent he has confronted.

NFL Thursday Night Football- San Francisco 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams Recap

By Mario Martinez Wonder-Punter

In what many considered a “must win” game in the early season for the San Francisco 49ers, they came out with a purpose, and a sense of urgency to pound the lowly St. Louis Rams on the road in Thursday night’s NFL match up 35-11. Even though, the 49ers were missing some key players on both sides of the ball… Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis on defense, and Michael Crabtree, Mario Manningham on offense, they went to the big guns who they had left, RB Frank Gore, WR Anquan Boldin, and TE Vernon Davis to embarrass the St. Louis Rams (1-3) on their own turf. After the Rams took an early 3-0 lead after a 49er missed field goal in the first quarter… it was all San Francisco (2-2) the rest of the way. I didn’t think the Rams could look any worse then they did last week at Dallas, but I guess I was wrong, as they were only able to put together 188 yards in total offense, with only 18 yards on the ground on 19 rushes! Two back to back horrific games for the St. Louis Rams. Lucky for them, the even worse Jacksonville Jaguars are up next.

In the first quarter however, the Rams showed some offense and the defense played fired-up ball to help the Rams take a 3-0 lead after one. In the second quarter however, the 49ers began to show their will and pound the ball at the Ram defense as RB Frank Gore had 20 carries for 153 yards to end the night. His first 100 yard game of the season. With a 29 yard touchdown pass from QB Colin Kaepernick (15/23 for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns) to Anquan Boldin, the 49ers took a 7-3 lead and never looked back. Frank Gore helped the Niners take a 14-3 lead into half time when he rumbled into the end zone on a fourth and inches from scrimmage from 34 yards away.

In the third quarter, it went from bad to worse for the Rams, as they were unable to generate any type of offense, and the 49er defense led by NaVorro Bowman (2 sacks for the night) had their way with Ram QB Sam Bradford, constantly applying pressure. Bradford finished 19/41 202 yards passing with 1 TD and 1 interception. He was sacked 5 times by the Niner defense. 21-3 San Fran. after three quarters of play.

The 4th and final quarter proved to be no different as an early turnover by the Rams (2 turnovers), gave the 49ers another touchdown increasing their lead to 28-3. San Francisco turned the ball over twice as well Thursday night, one in the fourth quarter deep in their own territory helping the Rams put a TD on the board to cut the lead to 28-11. After a failed on-side kick by the Rams, San Francisco punched it in one more time to make it 35-11 and that was all she wrote. San Francisco finished with 370 yards of total offense, and a much needed win as they look to get back to their winning ways.

Next up for both teams, St. Louis faces the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars, and the San Francisco 49ers square off against a tough Houston Texans team.

NFL Thursday Night Preview: San Francisco 49ers vs St. Louis Rams

By Mario Martinez-Wonder Punter

San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams 9/26 8:25PM EST

Line: SF -3.0

Over/Under: 42.0

SSThis Thursday night, the disappointing to this point San Francisco 49ers (1-2) travel into St. Louis, to take on a Ram team (1-2) who are also struggling on both ends of the football. At stake, is both teams hoping to avoid their third straight loss of the early season, and keep pace with the 3-0 Seattle Seahawks within the NFC West division.

Get Live Odds Here

While much expectation has not been placed on the Rams this season, the 49ers are facing the pressure of critics everywhere as they have been favored to return to the Super Bowl for a second straight year. Both teams are coming off horrible games from last Sunday, the Rams losing to the Dallas Cowboys 31-7, and the 49ers getting spanked on their own turf against the Indianapolis Colts 27-7.

Injuries have taken their toll on the 49ers to this point, greatly affecting their play on both sides of the football the last two games. The 49ers seemed to have picked up from last season where they put 34 points on the board against the Green Bay Packers on opening day. However, since that first win, they have been outscored 56-10 by Seattle and Indianapolis, and second year QB Colin Kaepernick has struggled to regain his form that took the league by storm last year.

Now, with All Pro outside linebacker Aldon Smith being placed on the non-football injury list Monday due to substance abuse issues, he will enter rehab and there is no timetable on his return to the field. Other key injuries for the Niners include linebacker Patrick Willis (groin) and defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha (leg). On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Vernon Davis (hamstring) could miss his second straight game.

The Rams on the other hand, just seem to not be able to stay consistent, and falling behind early, makes it that much more of a struggle to win ball games. They rallied from 11 points down to beat the Arizona Cardinals, but could not relive the magic against the Atlanta Falcons after trailing by 21 points. Against the Cowboys, they were never in it from the get go, getting blown out at Dallas.

The division rivals San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams each played each other twice last year, with the Rams winning 16-13 in overtime at home, and both teams playing to a 24-24 tie in San Francisco.

However, despite what problems, both on and off the field the San Francisco 49ers have going in to play the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night, I like their chances, and see the Niners (-3) pulling out a victory on the road.

Ole Miss CB Cody Prewitt: ‘It’s about to get real for Texas’

(USA At this time Sports activities Photos)

The New York Giants have been keen to half methods with running again Brandon Jacobs because the group believed it had better choices this season.

However, after Andre Brown fractured his leg within the preseason finale and David Wilson fumbled twice in Week 1, New York had a change of heart.

Jacobs, who was a free agent, worked out with New York at the moment and re-signed with the team, in keeping with ESPN’s Dan Graziano. He reportedly signed a one-yr deal (terms of Jacobs’ contract were not disclosed).

To make room for Jacobs, New York positioned defensive end Adewale Ojomo on waivers.

Here is what Graziano had to say in regards to the signing:

The source also said one of the causes the Giants decided to signal Jacobs was his familiarity with their offense, notably their go-safety schemes. That is an area during which Wilson struggled final year and again Sunday night. The Giants imagine Jacobs may help mentor Wilson in that and different areas, in addition to presumably spell him on passing downs and possibly on the objective line.

Jacobs performed for the Giants from 2005 to 2011. He gained two Super Bowl titles earlier than joining the San Francisco 49ers in 2012. Jacobs was suspended by the crew before he was eventually released. He remained unsigned till right this moment.

Overall, Jacobs has rushed for 4,856 yards and fifty six touchdowns in his career.

Clay Matthews might become Villain No. 1 in San Francisco with late hit on Colin Kaepernick

Following an Eddie Lacy fumble, the San Francisco 49ers were in enterprise, tied at 7-7, with the ball deep in Green Bay territory.

But the Packers compelled a third-and-6 from on the Packers’ 10-yard line and flushed Colin Kaepernick out of the pocket. He scrambled to attempt to get the first but stepped out before the marker for what should have introduced up a fourth down and a field-objective try.

Instead, mayhem ensued. Clay Matthews started the fire by ringing Kaepernick across the neck on a particularly late deal with out of bounds. Had nothing else occurred at that point, it could have been first and aim inside the 5-yard line.

However then 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley came to the rescue (you possibly can say) of his quarterback and acquired into it with Matthews in what may have escalated into a serious brawl. Anquan Boldin, in his first recreation with the 49ers, was also seen slapping a Packers participant, but the end consequence was offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct fouls every on Matthews and Staley.

Staley could have been a semi-goat, but Kaepernick and Boldin hooked up on the do-over third-and-6 play for a touchdown and a 14-7 49ers lead.

Gee, you think these teams like each other? 49ers fans might not be placing up any Matthews Fathead stickers on their partitions anytime soon.

A fan has died because of accidents suffered from a fall at Candlestick Park. The fan fell from an elevated walkway shortly after kickoff, and makes an attempt to revive him had been unsuccessful.

San Francisco police stated that multiple people witnessed the autumn, and that the person appeared intoxicated previous to the fall. The person was described as being in his mid-30s, although his identity was withheld to be able to notify family members of his passing.

“The San Francisco 49ers realized that there was a deadly accident outdoors of Candlestick Park previous to as we speak’s game,” the team stated in a press release. “We want to express our deepest condolences to the household during this troublesome time.”

A fan died in the same fall from Atlanta’s Turner Area in August. The 49ers will be leaving Candlestick after this season to take up residence on the Levi’s Center.

NFL Preview Week: 10 biggest wild cards heading into 2013 season

(USA As we speak Sports activities Pictures)

The NFL officially returns on Thursday, and Shutdown Nook is rolling out the purple carpet, previewing every little thing to come back for the 2013 season. We’ll end it off by picking our particular person awards and the Super Bowl winner on Thursday before the Ravens and Broncos kick off the season.

Just once you thought the Minnesota Vikings would have one other dangerous season because Adrian Peterson was coming off main knee surgical procedure, he explodes and finishes 9 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season dashing report. Then Peyton Manning indicators with the Denver Broncos after the Indianapolis Colts are uncertain if he would play once more. Manning reemerges as probably the greatest NFL passers.

It is at all times exhausting to determine who will be the wild card participant entering any NFL season, however here are 10 potential stars who might influence their crew’s results in 2013:

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans
As soon as upon a time, Johnson rushed for two,006 yards and 14 yards in 2009. Then he barely rushed for 1,047 yards and four touchdowns in 2011. Tennessee’s offensive line is improved, but Johnson should player higher.

Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
Chicago gave up two first-round picks to acquire Cutler in 2009, however the Bears have superior to the playoffs solely as soon as underneath his management. The Bears employed coach Marc Trestman this offseason, however Cutler stays the distinction between success and failure.

(USA Immediately Sports Pictures)

Darrelle Revis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay performs Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton twice a 12 months, and Revis is what the Bucs need to survive the NFC South. Revis’ knee is a serious question coming into this season.

Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders
He is coming into a contract 12 months and needs to stay in Oakland. At this charge, Oakland could not even imagine McFadden will be productive or healthy anymore.

Cliff Avril, DE, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s defense was nice last season, and Avril’s addition makes this protection better. Avril is recovering from a hamstring damage, and his health is essential to dethroning the San Francisco 49ers within the NFC West.

Mike Wallace, WR, Miami Dolphins
Wallace signed a 5-12 months deal worth $60 million ($30 million guaranteed) this offseason. If he cannot make Ryan Tannehill look good, nobody can.

Jake Long, OT, St. Louis Rams
Long appeared in four Professional Bowls with the Miami Dolphins earlier than signing with the Rams this offseason. He was placed on injured reserve because of a left triceps injury, nevertheless, he might give Sam Bradford the protection necessary to have an impact.

(USA At present Sports Photos)

DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys
At some point, Murray would possibly end one season without getting injured. He is the difference between Dallas making the playoffs or having to generate extra excuses after 2013.

Osi Umenyiora, DE, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta has been knocking on the Tremendous Bowl door the past few seasons, however has been unable to walk in. Umenyiora received two Tremendous Bowls with the Giants, and his management may make the Falcons soar.

Reggie Bush, RB, Detroit Lions
Detroit’s offense has not been the identical since operating again Jahvid Greatest’s concussion in 2011. Bush has an opportunity to ease Calvin Johnson’s workload, and be recognized for something more than relationship Kim Kardashian.
