Johnny Manziel Has the “Larry Bird Instinct” Says NFL Scout

johnny-manziel-talking-trash-gets-unsportsmanlike
Johnny Manziel is in the midst of his quest to win a second straight Heisman Trophy.

Johnny Manziel is six months away from being a 1st spherical draft choose.

And now, for the first time, someone has invoked the identify Larry Chicken when speaking about Johnny Manziel. I know, it caught me off guard, too.

A scout broke no new ground talking to Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News about Manziel’s NFL prospects – customary-difficulty Drew Brees and Russell Wilson mentions – but then tossed in a bizarre comparability to the previous Boston Celtics nice who’s in the NBA Hall of Fame.

Manziel has an enormous man’s feet and fingers in a small man’s physique. He has the arm to make all the throws from the pocket and another scout raved about his “Larry Chook instinct” — the power to see everyone and all the pieces on the field.

Don’t overlook Dustin Pedroia’s grittiness.

And David Eckstein’s braveness.

And Aaron Craft’s toughness.

Can the Jets please lose to the Ravens so I can fireplace up the Manziel-to-the-Jets banter? As a result of that’s where we’re headed Monday morning if Geno Smith turns the ball over a number of extra times and is benched for Matt Simms. I still think a number of QBs will go within the High 10, and the Jets, drafting within the 11-20 vary, could be out there for a QB if Geno Smith doesn’t get out of this three-week funk. Hell, he’s been terrible in four of the last 5 games. And don’t give me this, ‘he’s a rookie!’ business as a result of take a look at Glennon in Tampa and the rookie QBs final yr.

If the Jets had a capable QB this yr, they’d be a playoff staff … and that’s not one thing anyone stated in August.

Power Rankings NFL week 12

Last night’s Monday night game brought to an end of another exciting week in football in which some teams improved their Power Rankings and others continued to fall as quarterback injuries have taken their toll. Week 11 also brought the end of the NFL’s only unbeaten team when Kansas City fell to the Broncos.

Here is this week’s Week 12 Power Rankings for teams 1-32 with records and last week’s ranking.

Place your bets here upto $1000 signup bonus

1 Denver Broncos (9-1 LW: 2)- Round 1 goes to the Broncos… rematch with KC in two weeks.

2 Seattle Seahawks (10-1 LW: 3) Other then a home game against the Saints, they should be able to run the table the rest of the way.

3 New Orleans Saints (8-2 LW: 4)- Undefeated at home so far… but the playoffs may mean winning on the road.

4 Carolina Panthers (7-3 LW: 6)- Beating quality teams now and only getting better.

5 Kansas City Chiefs (9-1 LW: 1)- Still a solid team on defense… but the offense will need to get better if they expect to make some noise in the playoffs.

6 New England Patriots (7-3 LW: 5)- Patriots are still looking for the flag… they got earlier in the year against the Saints. So…

7 Indianapolis Colts (7-3 LW: 7)- Good comeback win at Tennessee, but I still think Rams game.

8 San Francisco 49ers (6-4 LW: 8)- They were so close to being 8-2…. Two tough games in a row.

9 Cincinnati Bengals (7-4 LW: 10)- Their win on Sunday should put them in position for the AFC North crown and a first-round bye.

10 Detroit Lions (6-4 LW 9)- Can we do the fake field goal play over again?

11 Chicago Bears (6-4 LW: 12)- Big home win over the Ravens.. which Rams team will they face on Sunday?

12 Philadelphia Eagles (6-4 LW: 13)- Finally a team in the NFC East is playing like they want to win it.. Nick Foles getting it done.

13 New York Jets (5-5 LW: 13)- Jekyll and Hyde if you ask me… we just don’t know what team will show up on Sundays.

14 Arizona Cardinals (6-4 LW: 16)- Winning games despite no running game and a QB who’s thrown more INTs then TDs.

15 Miami Dolphins (5-5 LW: 21)- Gritty performance and win against San Diego with all the distractions staring at them.

16 San Diego Chargers (4-6 LW: 17)- If they could just finish games… but now they still have three games left against the Chiefs and Broncos.

17 Dallas Cowboys (5-5 LW: 15)- Big game against the resurgent Giants Sunday on the road.

18 Green Bay Packers (5-5 LW: 14)- No Aaron Rodgers…. No hope!

19 Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6 LW: 25)- Is this the same Steelers team who we all left for dead earlier? Held the Lions scoreless in the second half.

20 Cleveland Browns (4-6 LW: 18)- Big home game on Sunday against the Steelers. If they win… maybe still a chance?

21 Buffalo Bills (4-7 LW: 27)- Winnable games coming up against the Bucs, Falcons, Jags and Dolphins… Wildcard? hmmm maybe.

22 Baltimore Ravens (4-6 LW: 19)- Failing to score on first-and-goal at the Chicago 5-yard line. Story of the year for the offense.

23 St Louis Rams (4-6 LW 20)- In a division with Seattle and San Francisco… it’s tough.

24 New York Giants (4-6 LW: 26)- Four wins in a row now with Dallas coming up.

25 Oakland Raiders (4-6 LW: 24)- Is Matt McGloin the answer at quarterback?

26 Tennessee Titans (4-6 LW: 22)- How big do the losses to the Jags and Colts look now in an AFC race that’s up for grabs.

27 Washington Redskins (3-7 LW: 23)- So much for running the tables like last year.

28 Houston Texans (2-8 LW: 28)- Still playing hard… that’s all you could ask for at this point.

29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8 LW: 31) Two in a row… and they had some winnable games throughout the season.

30. Atlanta Falcons (2-8 LW: 29)- Unlike the Texans, this is a football that has quit on everybody. Embarrassing!

31 Minnesota Vikings (2-8 LW: 30)- Playing for a quarterback in next year’s draft.

32 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9 LW 32)- It was fun while it lasted.

Ozzie Newsome is feeling higher Monday after missing his staff’s flight. (USATSI)

Amid all of the pandemonium of the almost two-hour inclement weather delay in Chicago and the Bears subsequent extra time victory on Sunday, Ravens common supervisor Ozzie Newsome left Soldier Discipline by ambulance shortly after the game after not feeling effectively.

On Sunday, a WSNT reporter tweeted that he was in an elevator with Newsome and that the GM was “sweating profusely.” In a while Sunday, the Ravens said, “Ozzie Newsome did not feel effectively after right now’s recreation and a workforce doctor really helpful that Ozzie not fly tonight.”

Bears withstand Ravens, weather for OT win

Bears Edge Ravens In OT

CHICAGO – Josh McCown spent a number of quiet moments attempting to figure out what would occur. He probably did not envision this.

The Bears waited out an extended rain delay and put in additional time to come back away with a a lot-needed win.

Robbie Gould kicked a 38-yard field goal in additional time to carry the Bears to a 23-20 victory over Baltimore on Sunday in a game delayed about two hours by a torrential downpour.

Justin Tucker tied it for the Ravens with a 21-yard area aim at the end of regulation.

The large delay got here after Tucker kicked a fifty two-yarder with four:fifty one remaining in the first quarter. Fans had been ordered to take cover as players headed to the locker rooms while heavy rains and winds whipped via Soldier Area. They emerged about two hours later with the sky clearing and the solar popping out, however the rain and wind returned within the third quarter, turning the stands into a sea of ponchos.

In the course of the delay, Bears gamers stretched and went over the game plan.

“Closed my eyes and simply making an attempt to think about the game, visualize the sport somewhat bit,” McCown mentioned. “And kind of assess what occurred the primary two series. What did we do wrong? Why weren’t we transferring the ball? What are they going to do to us?”

Ravens coach John Harbaugh would not say what his crew did throughout the down time, although his group is no stranger to delays. The Ravens skilled a power outage within the Tremendous Bowl, in spite of everything, and the beginning of their season-opener at Denver was pushed again by lightning. Each had been simply 34 minutes, though.

“I feel we have led the league in delays over the previous few years,” Harbaugh mentioned.

Gould received it with a 38-yarder on third-and-8 on the 20 with eight:41 left in OT after McCown connected with a leaping Martellus Bennett on a 43-yard cross to place the ball on the 22, and the Bears (6-four) got here away with the win after dropping 4 of six.

They have been leading 20-17 with 10:33 remaining in regulation after Matt Forte scored on a 14-yard screen from McCown, dodging three or four defenders alongside the way in which, but the Ravens (four-6) made one huge push down the stretch to send it to additional time.

They drove from the 16 to the two, getting a one-handed catch from Dallas Clark on a fourth down on the forty four. After Joe Flacco overthrew Torrey Smith in the back of the tip zone on third down, Tucker tied it at 20-all with 3 seconds left.

McCown threw for 216 yards with out an interception, subbing for Jay Cutler (excessive left ankle sprain). In four video games and two starts, he has five touchdowns and no turnovers, and he got here by under brutal conditions.

“It’s positively one of those days where you look throughout the field and (see) Joe Flacco and look on the sideline and Jay’s over there,” McCown said. “And I am like, ‘Can I borrow someone’s arm?’ ”

Alshon Jeffery had seven catches for eighty three yards. Forte added 42 receiving and 83 speeding.

Julius Peppers had two sacks. David Bass returned an interception for a touchdown, and Jon Bostic set up a field goal by Gould on the finish of the first half with an interception.

The Ravens have been able to get their ground game going, with Ray Rice dashing for 131 yards and a landing against a staff that’s struggled to stop the run. He scored from the 1 early on after a 47-yard sprint on Baltimore’s first drive. But Flacco had a rough day, throwing for 162 yards and getting picked off twice.

“Each time you get the ball, it both was moist or had all types of mud on it,” he mentioned. “It was an issue for the timing stuff, getting a grip on it fast enough.”

The Bears scored 10 points in a 12-second stretch in the second quarter, on a 20-yard area aim by Gould and a 24-yard interception return by Bass. He picked off Flacco at the line and ran untouched to the tip zone, Chicago’s fourth interception return for a TD this season, but Baltimore instantly answered with an eighty-yard scoring drive.

Flacco lofted a 5-yard scoring pass between two defenders to Smith to put the Ravens again on high, 17-10, with four:08 left in the half. However an interception at midfield by Bostic with a minute left led to a 46-yard field objective by Gould as time expired, making it a 4-level recreation on the half.

And what an odd half it was.

Play was stopped just after 12:30 p.m. CT and didn’t resume till 2:25. There have been reviews of at least one tornado touching down in Illinois and extensive harm in a minimum of one a part of the state. At Soldier Area, long traces fashioned in the higher deck as drenched followers tried to make their means towards the tunnel with lightning hanging close to the stadium.

“It was pretty muddy, windy,” Bennett stated. “I feel like I’ve been fishing all day.”

Free NFL Picks and predictions for Week 11

NFL Week 11 is going to be another great week of NFL games with the four big ones in my opinion being Cleveland @ Cincinnati, San Francisco @ New Orleans, Kansas City @ Denver (Sunday night) and New England @ Carolina (Monday night). Here is my quick preview for each game along with the spread and my pick/prediction for each match-up. Remember, you can check the latest lines and place your favorite bet(s) right here through Wonder Punter. Good Luck!

New York Jets (5-4) @ Buffalo Bills (3-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: Even

Over/Under: 40.5

With the Jets coming off their bye week, I have to think they will play the better game and expected a little from the Bills to this point. If Geno Smith is on…

PICK: NYJ

Baltimore Ravens (4-5) @ Chicago Bears (5-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CHI -3.0

Over/Under: 45.0

The Ravens are coming off a big home win last Sunday against a Cincinnati team without much offensive production. The Bears will be without Jay Cutler. Still like the Bears in this one being at home.

PICK: Chicago

Cleveland Browns (4-5) @ Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CIN -6.0

Over/Under: 42.0

The Bengals have lost back-to-back games in overtime and lost the last meeting with Cleveland but will go with Cincy in this one to get it done.

PICK: Cincinnati

Washington Redskins (3-6) @ Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: PHI -4.5

Over/Under: 53.0

Too much at stake for the Eagles with a chance to get into sole possession of first place with a win and Nick Foles has been great the last two weeks.

PICK: Philadelphia

Detroit Lions (6-3) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: DET -2.5

Over/Under: 47.0

The Steelers have been playing better ball since their ‘rock bottom’ game a few weeks backs, but with a healthy Lions duo of Stafford/Johnson… I like the Lions on the road.

PICK: Detroit
BetOnline
Atlanta Falcons (2-7) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: EVEN

Over/Under: 43.0

The ‘experts’ have it even.. I kind of agree. With a very disappointing Falcons team this year, can the Bucs win two in a row?

PICK: Atlanta

Arizona Cardinals (5-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: ARI -8.5

Over/Under: 41.0

As long as the Cardinals don’t have a ‘let-down’ game, they should win easily.

PICK: Arizona

Oakland Raiders (3-6) @ Houston Texans (2-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: HOU -7.0

Over/Under: 41.5

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is back, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is questionable…. seems like a Texans win to me.

PICK: Houston

San Diego Chargers (4-5) @ Miami Dolphins (4-5) 11/17- 4:05PM EST

Line: SD -1.0

Over/Under: 45.5

Always tough for a West Coast team to travel East and play but with the Dolphins in the midst of controversy… can they stay focused?

PICK: San Diego

San Francisco 49ers (6-3) @ New Orleans Saints (7-2) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: NO -3.0

Over/Under: 47.5

I expect a better performance this week from the 49ers, but New Orleans is just a very good team in the Dome. Should be a good. Too much Saints.

PICK: New Orleans

Minnesota Vikings (2-7) @ Seattle Seahawks (9-1) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: SEA -12.0

Over/Under: 45.5

After last week’s solid road performance, I think the Seahawks have shaken off their two-week funk with those close victories.

PICK: Seattle

Kansas City Chiefs (9-0) @ Denver Broncos (8-1) 11/17- 8:30PM EST

Line: DEN -7.5

Over/Under: 49.0

The first of two anticipated meetings is soon upon us.. can the much ‘talked-about’ Kansas City defense do enough to slow down the Broncos?

PICK: Denver

New England Patriots (7-2) @ Carolina Panthers (6-3) 11/18- 8:30PM EST

Line: CAR -2.5

Over/Under: 46.5

Monday night showdown. Tough one for me… Pats 2-2 on the road thus far but are still the Patriots and the Panthers have won five straight. If Carolina has another defensive performance like last week, I like their chances.

PICK: Carolina

There are my predictions and Good luck with your teams and picks!

Ravens not interested in reunion with Reed

Ed Reed’s NFL Future

The New York Jets have shown curiosity in Reed, a supply informed ESPNNewYork.com. Their level of interest wasn’t instantly identified, but it surely seems to be greater than cursory, the supply mentioned.

In Houston, Texans coach Gary Kubiak addressed Reed’s release and stated the transfer was made for football causes and not due to his criticism of the group.

“It all will get again to football,” Kubiak said. “Obviously there’s loads stated and this and that. I talked to him yesterday. We’re enjoying young guys, actually like the way in which D.J. [Swearinger is] enjoying and Shiloh [Keo is] taking part in his role.

“In respect to his career and what [Reed has] finished and for us to be in the scenario we’re enjoying him eight to 10 plays, that was going to continue with the way we’re doing it proper now, I assumed it was honest to him to offer him a possibility to play somewhere else and do no matter he wanted. That is how we came to the conclusion.”

Reed can be considered one of the greatest players in Ravens historical past. He went to nine Pro Bowls and was named NFL Defensive Participant of the 12 months in 2004.

“Ed is a Raven, and he’ll always be a Raven,” Harbaugh said. “I’m sure he’ll be in the ring of honor someday, and I am positive he’ll be in the Hall of Fame sometime. We have kept in touch with Ed, on and off right here frequently. He is a good pal of everyone here.”

Report: Texans to release big FA signee Ed Reed

Ed Reed lasted just two months in Houston. (USATSI)

So yeah, the whole Ed Reed factor didn’t really work out in Houston. The Texans will launch Reed on Tuesday, in accordance with the Houston Chronicle. The long run Corridor of Fame safety spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the Ravens before signing a three-12 months, $15 million contract this offseason.

When the Texans signed Reed they have been probably anticipating something more than one of the league’s worst safeties. But by way of nine games, that’s precisely what they bought. In keeping with ProFootballFocus.com, Reed ranked 73rd out of eighty five gamers on the place.

A 2002 first-round pick out of Miami, Reed missed the first two games of the 2013 season recovering from a hip damage. In the seven games since, he had 16 tackles, no interceptions and didn’t defend a single cross. Two weeks ago, he lost his starting job to Shiloh Keo.

Following Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals, Reed was asked why Houston came up quick once more. The staff was “outplayed and outcoached,” he said.

Fantasy football: Week 10 Rankings

fantasysportspagepic

Up to date on eleven/10/2013 at 12:00 PM ET.

Contrary to popular perception, the C.J. Spiller hype didn’t come out of nowhere. Spiller finished as fantasy’s No. 7 operating back final season, both by raw points and weekly average. That, along with his prodigious physical ability, underrated durability and the Bills’ new run-minded head coach made him a simple pick for prime four-5 general value.

Only issues didn’t go to plan. Having entered the season with a consecutive-video games performed streak of 37, Spiller totaled a disappointing fifty five yards from scrimmage in Week 1. He improved to 117 yards on solely 19 touches in Week 2, but issues went downhill from there, as Spiller tweaked his quad in Week three and sprained his ankle in Week four. The injuries coincided with Fred Jackson stinging two of the league’s best run defenses in the Jets and Ravens for 159 yards on solely 23 carries (6.91 YPC). Spiller should have rested for the Bills’ Thursday night time trip to Cleveland in Week 5, but as an alternative gutted out eight carries for sixty six yards, scoring a 54-yard touchdown in the process. Spiller then had 10 days to get higher for Week 6, but he didn’t, trying more ragged than he did in Week 5. He nonetheless by some means managed 55 yards on 10 carries, however appeared as limited as you’ll ever see somebody on a football subject.

Again, Spiller should have rested, but once more he didn’t, suiting up for Week 7. That is the place his season reached its nadir. Gaining all of seven yards on 9 touches, Spiller regarded like an previous man only capable of running in a straight line, checking himself out of the game and limping after every single carry. On his longest scamper, an eleven-yarder in the first quarter, Spiller prevented contact, acquired to the sideline and … kept working. In so much pain he couldn’t apply the brakes, Spiller ran a stable 10-15 yards out of bounds before motioning to the trainer. For whatever reason, Spiller stayed in the game, but went to near comical lengths to avoid contact on his final eight touches. The Payments finally obtained the message: Their running again needed a rest.

Spiller acquired one in Week eight, and lo and behold, returned rejuvenated in Week 9, speeding for a season-high 116 yards on solely 12 carries (9.7 YPC) whereas adding two catches for an additional 39 yards. A third of Spiller’s carries gained a minimum of eight yards, whereas his receptions went for 12 and 27. Spiller’s practically unmatched change-of-direction skills appeared all the way in which back, offering hope for fantasy homeowners who’ve gotten subsequent to nothing out of their first-spherical pick, and emboldening his coach to remove him from the Week 10 damage report. “When they’re off the injury report, then I really feel they’re advantageous,” Doug Marrone mentioned Wednesday. “(As) quickly as somebody comes off the injury report, I am considering that he’s full go.”

The really good news? Spiller’s return to full health comes because the Payments’ schedule is softening up. Even including the Jets’ league-main run defense, Buffalo’s ultimate seven opponents are permitting a collective four.2 yards per carry, and 119 dashing yards per recreation. When you take away the Jets, those numbers enhance to 4.3 and 127. On tap for Week 10 is the Steelers, who’re allowing a really un-Steeler like 4.2 yards per carry and 131.3 yards per sport. Marrone sounds like a man who wants to take full benefit of Spiller’s newfound well being. “I believe the more we will get his fingers on the ball, there’s an opportunity for him to make an enormous play,” Marrone said Wednesday. “In order that’s something we’re at all times striving for.”

Spiller’s season didn’t start the best way anyone wanted it to, however nevermind that. It stinks, however it occurs. All that issues now’s that he’s in excellent position to redeem himself. Might or not it’s a bit too late for some fantasy owners? Yes. However can or not it’s higher later than never for a overwhelming majority who took the first-spherical plunge? Absolutely. Spiller is a particular talent. Special abilities don’t let a foul stretch spoil their season, or Fred Jackson steal all their glory. They rise to the top, and for Spiller, the ascent should begin now.

QB Notes: Peyton Manning returns from the Broncos’ bye needing to common 320 yards per recreation to break Drew Brees’ single-season yardage document of 5,476. Presently averaging 365, Manning is on pace for five,838. San Diego enters Week 10 with the league’s No. 27 cross defense, permitting 275 yards per game. … Unusually, Brees enters Week 10 not on tempo to interrupt his own file, but he’s still properly on monitor for his fourth 5,000-yard marketing campaign. Dallas’ 31st ranked go defense isn’t going to gradual him down this weekend. Of the six 5K campaigns in NFL historical past, Brees owns three of them. Till 2008, Dan Marino was the lone member of the 5,000-yard membership. … Matthew Stafford enters Week 10 third in common fantasy quarterback points (26.2). That’s properly ahead of his disappointing 2012 average (22.eight), and only a shade behind his 2011 mark (26.5). The matchup is true in Chicago’s newly mortal protection. … Not only has Philip Rivers erased all reminiscences of his nightmarish 2012, he’s on pace for brand spanking new private bests in yards (four,946) and completion share (seventy two.7). He’s additionally on monitor for 34 scores, which would tie his profession excessive from 2008.

Coming off his second greatest fantasy effort of the season (25.7 points), Tony Romo should match wits with Drew Brees on the Superdome’s speedway. Romo underperformed in three straight plus matchups between Weeks 6-eight, but as was the case in Week 5 towards the Broncos, that received’t be an possibility towards the Saints. An enormous day is coming. … Coming off a fluky zero-touchdown effort in what was otherwise one of his finest starts of the season, Robert Griffin III will get a Vikings defense permitting the second most fantasy factors to enemy quarterbacks. Nice matchups haven’t all the time translated to fantasy success for RGIII this season, however the Vikings’ damaged-down secondary goes to supply little-to-no resistance. Fireplace him up with out a second thought. … Quietly fantasy’s No. 10 quarterback over the past five weeks, Russell Wilson gets a Falcons protection allowing the 10th most points to rival QBs though it is faced solely two prime-15 quarterbacks. Wilson would be the third.

Why does Wilson get the call over Cam Newton? It’s not a slam-dunk choice. Newton is coming off probably the greatest four-recreation stretches of his profession, but has been fattening up on the a number of the league’s most wayward teams (Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, St. Louis). Now he will get a 49ers protection that’s not solely taking part in its best football of the season, however getting Aldon Smith back. Of course, the Niners haven’t faced a quarterback as good as Newton since Weeks 2 and three, when they misplaced to Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. If Newton can hold his good thing going towards the very best group in football on the street, his so far career-defining streakiness might lastly be a factor of the previous. … To belief Nick Foles or not to belief Nick Foles, that’s the question. In the span of two starts, Foles has had maybe the worst efficiency by any quarterback this season, and one of the biggest video games in NFL historical past. Right here’s guessing he’ll cut up the difference in opposition to the Packers, who are extra susceptible to the move than run, and won’t be capable to stress Chip Kelly’s offense by matching points within the absence of Aaron Rodgers. Even if he will get off to a gradual start in Lambeau, one other face-plant shouldn’t be in the playing cards for Foles.

Doggedly declared a bust by each fantasy owner who couldn’t understand why he wasn’t racking up big totals in blowout wins, Colin Kaepernick has averaged 24.9 fantasy points over his past three begins, which might rank fourth on the season behind solely Manning, Brees and Stafford. Now up another weapon in the passing recreation with the return of Mario Manningham, Kaepernick should proceed to trend in the precise path even as he squares off with one of the league’s finest defenses. … In principle, as fantasy’s No. 5 quarterback over the past three weeks, Andy Dalton deserves to be larger on this listing. But as anybody who saw last Thursday evening’s game can attest, this isn’t necessarily a new Dalton. That being mentioned, as anyone who’s seen Dalton over the previous two years can attest, that is indeed a extra harmful fantasy quarterback than he’s been in the past. Thanks largely to the perfect supporting cast he’s ever had, Dalton should discover himself in the high-12 extra weeks than not, even when his on-paper talent-set remains to be prime 20, at finest. … Taking part in one of the best football of his profession, Jake Locker gets a Jaguars protection struggling against all quarterbacks, and fresh off getting demolished by twin-menace Colin Kaepernick in Week 8. Locker is an excellent bye-week streamer.

Terrelle Pryor (knee) is predicted to be effective for Sunday’s inviting matchup with the Giants. … Eli Manning has failed repeatedly to take advantage of plus matchups this season, however has one other one in a Raiders protection allowing a 68.7 completion proportion. He’s a high-end QB2. … Case Keenum has burst onto the scene like only a few have the previous few seasons, but happening the highway towards one of many league’s best defenses, he’ll be with out his play-caller Gary Kubiak. If Keenum can keep dropping bombs below these circumstances (he already has eleven completions of 25-plus yards), we’re going to have a participant flirting with QB1 worth on our fingers. … Does No. 19 seem unfathomably low for Matt Ryan? It’s, however that doesn’t imply he hasn’t earned it. The proprietor of a 2:7 TD:INT ratio and 5.91 yards per attempt over his previous two starts, Ryan goes to be onerous pressed to shake his slump against the league’s most bodily secondary. … Coming off one of the better spot starts by a 34-yr-outdated former high school coach in latest memory, Josh McCown will get a Lions cross protection allowing 273 yards per recreation. … Wait and see with E.J. Manuel. … Don’t hassle seeing with Seneca Wallace.

Updated on 11/10/2013 at 12:00 PM ET.

Contrary to well-liked belief, the C.J. Spiller hype didn’t come out of nowhere. Spiller finished as fantasy’s No. 7 working again final season, each by uncooked points and weekly average. That, alongside with his prodigious physical talent, underrated durability and the Bills’ new run-minded head coach made him an easy choose for high four-5 overall worth.

Only issues didn’t go to plan. Having entered the season with a consecutive-games performed streak of 37, Spiller totaled a disappointing 55 yards from scrimmage in Week 1. He improved to 117 yards on solely 19 touches in Week 2, however issues went downhill from there, as Spiller tweaked his quad in Week 3 and sprained his ankle in Week four. The injuries coincided with Fred Jackson stinging two of the league’s best run defenses within the Jets and Ravens for 159 yards on only 23 carries (6.ninety one YPC). Spiller ought to have rested for the Payments’ Thursday night trip to Cleveland in Week 5, but instead gutted out eight carries for sixty six yards, scoring a 54-yard touchdown in the process. Spiller then had 10 days to get better for Week 6, however he didn’t, trying extra ragged than he did in Week 5. He still in some way managed fifty five yards on 10 carries, but appeared as restricted as you’ll ever see somebody on a football subject.

Again, Spiller should have rested, however again he didn’t, suiting up for Week 7. That is the place his season reached its nadir. Gaining all of seven yards on 9 touches, Spiller regarded like an previous man solely capable of working in a straight line, checking himself out of the sport and limping after each single carry. On his longest scamper, an eleven-yarder in the first quarter, Spiller prevented contact, acquired to the sideline and … saved running. In so much pain he couldn’t apply the brakes, Spiller ran a strong 10-15 yards out of bounds before motioning to the trainer. For no matter reason, Spiller stayed in the recreation, but went to close comical lengths to keep away from contact on his last eight touches. The Payments lastly bought the message: Their running again needed a relaxation.

Spiller acquired one in Week 8, and lo and behold, returned rejuvenated in Week 9, speeding for a season-high 116 yards on solely 12 carries (9.7 YPC) while including two catches for an extra 39 yards. A 3rd of Spiller’s carries gained not less than eight yards, whereas his receptions went for 12 and 27. Spiller’s nearly unmatched change-of-route abilities appeared all the way in which again, offering hope for fantasy homeowners who have gotten next to nothing out of their first-spherical choose, and emboldening his coach to take away him from the Week 10 injury report. “When they’re off the harm report, then I really feel they’re nice,” Doug Marrone mentioned Wednesday. “(As) soon as somebody comes off the harm report, I am pondering that he is full go.”

The actually excellent news? Spiller’s return to full well being comes because the Payments’ schedule is softening up. Even including the Jets’ league-main run protection, Buffalo’s ultimate seven opponents are allowing a collective 4.2 yards per carry, and 119 speeding yards per recreation. If you take away the Jets, these numbers enhance to 4.3 and 127. On tap for Week 10 is the Steelers, who are permitting a really un-Steeler like 4.2 yards per carry and 131.3 yards per recreation. Marrone feels like a man who wants to take full advantage of Spiller’s newfound well being. “I think the extra we are able to get his palms on the ball, there’s a possibility for him to make an enormous play,” Marrone said Wednesday. “In order that’s something we’re always striving for.”

Spiller’s season didn’t begin the way anybody needed it to, but nevermind that. It stinks, but it occurs. All that issues now is that he’s in perfect place to redeem himself. Would possibly it’s a bit too late for some fantasy owners? Sure. However can or not it’s better later than never for a overwhelming majority who took the first-round plunge? Absolutely. Spiller is a special talent. Special skills don’t let a foul stretch ruin their season, or Fred Jackson steal all their glory. They rise to the highest, and for Spiller, the ascent should begin now.

QB Notes: Peyton Manning returns from the Broncos’ bye needing to average 320 yards per recreation to interrupt Drew Brees’ single-season yardage report of 5,476. Currently averaging 365, Manning is on tempo for 5,838. San Diego enters Week 10 with the league’s No. 27 move protection, permitting 275 yards per recreation. … Unusually, Brees enters Week 10 not on tempo to break his own document, however he’s nonetheless nicely on monitor for his fourth 5,000-yard campaign. Dallas’ 31st ranked move protection isn’t going to gradual him down this weekend. Of the six 5K campaigns in NFL historical past, Brees owns three of them. Until 2008, Dan Marino was the lone member of the 5,000-yard membership. … Matthew Stafford enters Week 10 third in average fantasy quarterback points (26.2). That’s effectively forward of his disappointing 2012 average (22.8), and just a shade behind his 2011 mark (26.5). The matchup is right in Chicago’s newly mortal defense. … Not solely has Philip Rivers erased all reminiscences of his nightmarish 2012, he’s on tempo for brand new private bests in yards (four,946) and completion percentage (72.7). He’s additionally on track for 34 scores, which might tie his career high from 2008.

Coming off his second best fantasy effort of the season (25.7 factors), Tony Romo must match wits with Drew Brees on the Superdome’s speedway. Romo underperformed in three straight plus matchups between Weeks 6-8, but as was the case in Week 5 in opposition to the Broncos, that gained’t be an option in opposition to the Saints. A giant day is coming. … Coming off a fluky zero-touchdown effort in what was in any other case one of his finest begins of the season, Robert Griffin III gets a Vikings protection allowing the second most fantasy factors to enemy quarterbacks. Great matchups haven’t all the time translated to fantasy success for RGIII this season, but the Vikings’ broken-down secondary goes to supply little-to-no resistance. Fireplace him up with out a second thought. … Quietly fantasy’s No. 10 quarterback over the previous five weeks, Russell Wilson will get a Falcons protection permitting the 10th most points to rival QBs regardless that it is faced solely two prime-15 quarterbacks. Wilson would be the third.

Why does Wilson get the decision over Cam Newton? It’s not a slam-dunk resolution. Newton is coming off probably the greatest 4-game stretches of his profession, however has been fattening up on the a few of the league’s most wayward teams (Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, St. Louis). Now he will get a 49ers protection that’s not only taking part in its finest football of the season, however getting Aldon Smith again. After all, the Niners haven’t faced a quarterback pretty much as good as Newton since Weeks 2 and 3, after they lost to Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. If Newton can maintain his good factor going towards the very best group in football on the highway, his to date profession-defining streakiness would possibly lastly be a factor of the past. … To trust Nick Foles or not to belief Nick Foles, that’s the query. Within the span of two starts, Foles has had maybe the worst performance by any quarterback this season, and one of the biggest video games in NFL history. Right here’s guessing he’ll split the difference against the Packers, who are extra susceptible to the cross than run, and gained’t have the ability to strain Chip Kelly’s offense by matching factors within the absence of Aaron Rodgers. Even if he gets off to a slow begin in Lambeau, another face-plant shouldn’t be within the playing cards for Foles.

Doggedly declared a bust by every fantasy proprietor who couldn’t perceive why he wasn’t racking up enormous totals in blowout wins, Colin Kaepernick has averaged 24.9 fantasy points over his past three starts, which might rank fourth on the season behind only Manning, Brees and Stafford. Now up one other weapon within the passing game with the return of Mario Manningham, Kaepernick should proceed to pattern in the appropriate direction at the same time as he squares off with one of many league’s finest defenses. … In theory, as fantasy’s No. 5 quarterback over the past three weeks, Andy Dalton deserves to be higher on this list. But as anyone who saw final Thursday night’s recreation can attest, this isn’t necessarily a brand new Dalton. That being said, as anyone who’s seen Dalton over the past two years can attest, that is indeed a more harmful fantasy quarterback than he’s been in the past. Thanks largely to the perfect supporting solid he’s ever had, Dalton ought to discover himself in the high-12 extra weeks than not, even if his on-paper skill-set remains to be top 20, at best. … Enjoying one of the best football of his profession, Jake Locker will get a Jaguars protection struggling in opposition to all quarterbacks, and contemporary off getting demolished by dual-threat Colin Kaepernick in Week eight. Locker is an excellent bye-week streamer.

Terrelle Pryor (knee) is expected to be superb for Sunday’s inviting matchup with the Giants. … Eli Manning has failed repeatedly to make the most of plus matchups this season, but has one other one in a Raiders protection permitting a 68.7 completion proportion. He’s a high-finish QB2. … Case Keenum has burst onto the scene like very few have the previous few seasons, but occurring the highway towards one of the league’s finest defenses, he’ll be with out his play-caller Gary Kubiak. If Keenum can preserve dropping bombs underneath these circumstances (he already has eleven completions of 25-plus yards), we’re going to have a participant flirting with QB1 worth on our arms. … Does No. 19 seem unfathomably low for Matt Ryan? It is, however that doesn’t imply he hasn’t earned it. RB Notes: It was about this time last season that Adrian Peterson went on the warpath. Coming off one among his best games of 2013, the matchup is correct in a Redskins run protection allowing a weekly 117 yards, and over a touchdown per sport. … Though solely AD is averaging more dashing yards per sport, LeSean McCoy has seen his fantasy stock fall as he’s found the tip zone just once in his previous four games. It’s a fluke, and one that should right itself if Chip Kelly’s offense can construct on final week’s beatdown of the Raiders. … Tied with McCoy for the second most yards from scrimmage per recreation (121.9), Reggie Bush goes to feast on a Bears defense permitting shockingly dangerous numbers to opposing runners over the past 5 weeks (754 yards rushing, 9 touchdowns). … Coming off his finest sport of the season (24 carries for one hundred twenty five yards and a landing, 179 yards from scrimmage), Matt Forte enters Week 10 as fantasy’s No. 1 running again over the previous three weeks. Allowing 4.7 yards per carry, the Lions aren’t going to gradual him down, no matter who’s under center for Chicago.

By Pro Football Focus’ rely, Marshawn Lynch’s 44 “missed tackles” are probably the most in the league by 12. … Eddie Lacy’s 545 yards dashing are probably the most in the league by seventy four over the past five weeks. There’s not going to be any mystery about the Packers’ sport plan towards the Eagles with out Aaron Rodgers, but that doesn’t mean Philly goes to be able to stop it. Lacy is a beast who’s working like he by no means left the SEC. … Third in the league in dashing yards per recreation? Alfred Morris, whose 5.2 yards per carry continues to lead all operating backs (he’s behind Terrelle Pryor and Russell Wilson). He’s not going to face much resistance in opposition to a Vikings protection that may’t stop anything. … Frank Gore has 4 touchdowns over his past two games, but is squaring off with a Panthers run defense allowing simply 79.1 yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry. Gore’s quantity retains him within the top 10, but he doesn’t have the top-five upside he’s been sporting most weeks. … Is Knowshon Moreno’s RB1 status dwelling on borrowed time? Averaging simply 2.ninety one yards per carry over his previous three games/43 totes, Moreno was ominously out-touched 3-1 by Montee Ball on aim-line carries in Week 8. Moreno should preserve at the least RB2 value, but he’s not a nasty sell-high candidate.

So that’s what it’s like when Chris Johnson tries? Coming off his best sport of the season, CJ2K now will get a Jaguars defense allowing the second most factors to enemy working backs. Jax is permitting a comical 161.8 dashing yards per sport, and has been stung for thirteen scores on the bottom. All of it units up very well for Johnson’s Week 10 prospects, though it’s worth noting that neither of his Week 9 TDs have been of the “purpose-line” variety. Johnson scored from 14 and 19 yards out. Shonn Greene really out-carried Johnson 3-0 inside the Rams’ 10-yard line. As was the plan all alongside, Greene appears to be Tennessee’s brief-yardage hammer. It’s a touch of grey to Johnson’s seeming resurrection as he embarks on the gentle portion of his schedule. … If not for Eddie Lacy, no participant would have extra rushing yards over the previous 5 weeks than Zac Stacy. Coming off back-to-again a hundred twenty five-yard efforts on the bottom, Stacy will do battle with Indianapolis’ No. 27 run defense. The centerpiece of the Rams offense is a viable RB1 for Week 10. … Is it time to trust Lamar Miller? The survey says yes after Miller turned his two largest workloads of the season into 241 yards from scrimmage and 5.71 yards per carry. Daniel Thomas is a zombie who nonetheless received’t go away (23 touches the past two weeks), however he’s lastly driving obvious shotgun to Miller’s driver. You drafted Miller as your RB2, now use him as such.

Averaging simply 3.5 yards per carry coming into Week 9, Mike James exploded for 28-158 against the Seattle freakin’ Seahawks. It was a shocking blow up for an unproven player stuck in an undesirable situation, however James can have a chance to build on it against the Dolphins, who are allowing essentially the most fantasy factors to opposing operating backs. Rival RBs are averaging 24.5 factors per sport towards the Fins, and have totaled 1,319 yards from scrimmage in eight contests. James will need the Bucs to avoid getting put away early to have an enormous night time on the nationwide stage, however the Dolphins haven’t buried anybody lately. He’s value an RB2 dice roll coming off what might very easily find yourself the very best sport of his career. … Fantasy’s No. 22 working back thanks nearly solely to his 49/391/three line as a receiver, Danny Woodhead is doing battle with a Broncos defense allowing a superb but not nice four.5 catches per sport to opposing runners. Woodhead has proven sufficient to be trusted as a FLEX option even in robust matchups. … Giovani Bernard (ribs) is on track for his ordinary function in opposition to the Ravens.

Nevermind Rashard Mendenhall’s (toe) well being/position. Andre Ellington is going to push 15 touches per game from here on out, and that interprets to actual FLEX worth for a participant averaging 7.7 yards per carry, and eight.17 yards per contact. … With Arian Foster (again, hamstring, who is aware of what else) wanting unlikely for Week 10, Ben Tate (ribs) will gut issues out as the Texans’ lead back for the second consecutive week. He should get a goal-line look or two, however doesn’t have a simple task in a Cardinals protection permitting solely 3.47 yards per carry. He’ll be backed up by Dennis Johnson. … Contemplate Week 9 our newest humbling reminder: Never trust Ryan Mathews as more than a FLEX possibility. We apologize for final week’s error. … Trent Richardson has a plus matchup in St. Louis, however he’s had no scarcity of plus matchups as a Colt and remains to be averaging simply 2.98 yards per carry. We’ll take into account his free-fall over when we see it. … You may do worse for an emergency FLEX choice than Rashad Jennings. … As is the case with T-Wealthy, consider Ray Rice’s slump over when you see it. His Week 9 performance was a significant, main concern coming off Baltimore’s bye week. … Peyton Hillis will supposedly lead the Giants’ committee this Sunday. Meaning you could wait Andre Brown out for at the very least one week. … If at all doable, keep away from the Panthers’ burgeoning committee against the 49ers’ stout run protection.

WR Notes: Since returning to a full workload in Week 7, Calvin Johnson has caught 23 passes for 484 yards and three touchdowns. The yards would rank 34th for the season, and ahead of the likes of Mike Wallace, Larry Fitzgerald and plenty of, many others. … No one within the NFL is extra overdue to explode for a monster sport than Dez Bryant. Here’s guessing he’ll have one in a shootout in New Orleans. … A.J. Green entered Week 6 mired in a four-recreation hunch. Four weeks later, he’s main the league in receiving due to a forty four/501/2 outburst in Weeks 6-9. The Ravens aren’t going to slow him down. … Demaryius Thomas’ 2013 hasn’t generated a complete lot of buzz, but he enters Week 10 No. 6 in common fantasy receiver factors, and on tempo to roughly equal his ninety four/1,434/10 2012 with a 96/1,370/12 2013. Thomas has forty four more yards after the catch than anybody within the NFL. … Held beneath seventy five yards only twice all season, Brandon Marshall is on pace for his fifth career 100-catch campaign, and third straight 1,200-yard season. Marshall has cleared 1,000 yards every year since 2007.

Wes Welker has caught fewer than six passes only twice, and been held out of the tip zone in precisely one in all eight video games. … Andre Johnson has caught 13 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns since Case Keenum took over at quarterback. The duo seems to be a match made in heaven. Johnson now leads the league in yards per move route run at 2.86 … Pierre Garcon’s lengthy overdue yardage explosion lastly came in Week 9, and he could easily make it back-to-again monster efforts in opposition to a Vikings defense allowing the ninth most factors to opposing receivers. Garcon has caught fewer than six passes just as soon as in 2013, and been held below 5 catches only one time in his past thirteen video games. … Leading the league in receptions with sixty one, expect Antonio Brown to answer his Week 9 benching with a vengeance towards a Payments team allowing the second most fantasy factors to enemy wideouts. … Fantasy’s No. 5 receiver over the previous five weeks, Keenan Allen hasn’t been held below 67 yards in any of his past 5 video games, and is averaging a weekly 6.2/ninety nine. There’s an enormous day available against a Broncos defense permitting the third most passing yards within the league.

Quietly fantasy’s No. 2 receiver over the past 5 weeks, issues aren’t going to remain quiet for T.Y. Hilton much longer. Now the focus of the Colts’ aerial attack, Hilton should common 10-12 weekly targets in an each-down role. If you give a participant with Hilton’s large-play potential that many seems, big video games — like his three-landing effort in Week 9 — are positive to comply with. The Rams’ highly burnable secondary is simply dying to serve up lengthy completions. … Victor Cruz’s (neck) Week 9 standing is a bit up in the air, but he’ll be a giant-time menace for a WR1 afternoon in opposition to the Raiders’ Laissez-faire secondary if he can go well with up. … One of many league’s easiest receivers this season, it’s painful to rank Jordy Nelson so low, however so is life in a Seneca Wallace-led offense. Nelson might nonetheless easily show his rating improper, however the potential for a dud is there for a player who almost by no means has them. … Torrey Smith has cooled a bit following his torrid begin, but has nonetheless been held under seventy five yards only twice in eight video games. Second within the league in yards per catch at 19.6, he’s going to eat most of the time.

Now the Jaguars’ unquestioned No. 1 receiver following Justin Blackmon’s newest suspension, Cecil Shorts has a tricky Week 10 matchup in the Titans’ No. 7 go defense, but could have garbage time to fall again on if he’s locked up out of the gate. … Larry Fitzgerald is as healthy as he’s been all season, but there’s no guaranteeing it would translate to more fantasy worth with Carson Palmer below center. Fitz is averaging four.5 catches for fifty nine yards … Mike Wallace is quietly averaging 5.3 catches for 76 yards over his past four games after averaging three.eight/forty four in his first 4, but nonetheless has only one landing on the season. That’s not what the Dolphins or fantasy house owners had in mind. With Darrelle Revis rising his press protection in recent weeks, Wallace could possibly be in for a long Monday night. … A giant part of Denarius Moore’s turnaround has been his improved palms. Moore has dropped only one cross after muffing nine a yr in the past, and boasts a fifty eight.2 catch share after delivering a forty six.4 mark in 2012. Moore is on tempo for 64 catches, 1,026 yards and eight touchdowns. All three totals can be new career highs.

With 13 catches for 186 yards and a landing over his past two games, Emmanuel Sanders is a strong WR3 bet towards a Payments protection that’s been getting burned all season long. … Golden Tate is averaging eight.three yards after every one in every of his catches, which leads the league. The issue, in fact, is that his 35 catches rank simply forty third. … Roddy White (ankle, hamstring) is finally on track to return, however can be doing so towards Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner and the remainder of Seattle’s elite protection. Together with his well being nonetheless a question mark, he’s the lowest end of WR3s. … Marvin Jones was held to four catches for 66 yards in Week 9, however had a long landing referred to as again by a dubious holding penalty, and noticed his snap share leap from 32.7 to 53.7. The red-zone dynamo is value another shot as your WR3. … With Roddy White again and Seattle in town, the dream is shortly dying for garbage-time hero Harry Douglas. … Averaging 5.3 catches for 59 yards over his past three video games, Kris Durham is a WR4 who could be referred to as on in a WR3 pinch. … With not less than 88 yards in three of his past 4 video games, Riley Cooper has improved himself from WR5 cube roll to WR4 dice roll.

TE Notes: Jimmy Graham: Over his foot concern. Graham and A.J. Green are the league’s only receivers with at the least 5 a hundred-yard games this season. … Held under six catches simply once in his past five games, Antonio Gates will do battle with a Broncos defense allowing the ninth most fantasy points to tight ends. … With Jimmy Graham being the opposite, Vernon Davis is considered one of only two tight ends averaging greater than 12 fantasy factors per sport. Davis is putting up a weekly thirteen.4. … Julius Thomas’ ankle injury appears unlikely to hold him out for Week 10. Averaging eleven.6 fantasy points, Thomas has been held out of the end zone just twice in eight games. … Jordan Reed’s four-catch, 37-yard Week 9 was nothing greater than a mediocre sport. All good gamers have them once in a while. Reed stays locked in as a excessive-finish TE1.

Drawing extra defensive consideration than perhaps any player in the league, Tony Gonzalez will still have TE1 outbursts just like the one he did in Week 9, but his dud price might be larger than it’s been previously. Gonzalez’s upside is such that he stays a prime 6-eight play. … Martellus Bennett gets a Lions crew he stung for eight catches and 90 yards in Week 4, solely this time, the sport is at Soldier Subject. … Averaging an excellent however not great 4.3/fifty three.3, Greg Olsen isn’t a high-upside play as he troopers by means of a foot injury against a 49ers staff allowing the fifth fewest fantasy factors to opposing tight ends. … Tampa’s Tim Wright is averaging four.6 catches over his previous five games, and now will get a Miami defense permitting the third most fantasy points to enemy tight ends. He’s a legit TE1 in every week the place Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Cameron are on bye.

The matchup is true for Garrett Graham — no workforce is permitting extra fantasy factors to tight ends than Arizona — but with only one 5-catch or 60-yard game on his résumé, he’s arduous to trust as more than a bottom-barrel TE1. … Coby Fleener’s role will continue to extend, however until we actually see it translate to elevated box-score productiveness, he’s nothing greater than a cube-roll TE1. … Charles Clay and Heath Miller have both settled in as acceptable plug-and-play starters, but little else. They are gamers who won’t hurt you, however ones you might want to upgrade. … Until all you want is a shot at a random landing, Zach Miller isn’t your man. … If you have been beginning Kyle Rudolph — which might have been an issue — hopefully you can do better than John Carlson for a alternative. … Zach Ertz’s Week 9 shouldn’t be taken as an indication of issues to come back. … The same is true for Andrew Quarless.

NFL Power Rankings – Week 10

Power Rankings for the NFL week 10 – WonderPunter

With 9 weeks of the NFL season in the books, let’s take a look at Week 10’s Power Rankings where a few teams made some jumps and others went backwards after this past weekend’s games.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)- As much as I still think they are not deserving of the top ranking.. they are still the only undefeated team. Bye week then a showdown with the Denver Broncos.

2. Denver Broncos (7-1)- With the bye week out of the way, can they continue to play at a high-level without head coach John Fox on the mend for possibly two months for a heart attack? Chargers and Chiefs coming up.

3. Indianapolis Colts (6-2)- They have beaten some quality teams to this point, but remember no more Reggie Wayne to help the offense.

4. Seattle Seahawks (8-1)- Expected better from a team that has struggled against the Rams and Bucs for victories.

5. San Francisco 49ers (6-2)- Big home game against the surging Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

6. New Orleans Saints (6-2)- Will look to bounce back against the Cowboys after Sundays loss to the Jets.

7. New England Patriots (7-2)- They head into the bye week after an impressive blowout win over the Steelers 55-31.

8. Cincinnati Bengals (6-3)- Can they avoid back-to-back road losses with the Ravens coming up?

9. Chicago Bears (5-3)- Big road win on Monday night in Lambeau gave them a big move up the rankings. Next up Detroit and possibly Jay Cutler returning to action.

10. Detroit Lions (5-3)- Coming off their bye week with a road game at Soldier Field.

11. Carolina Panthers (5-3)- All their wins have been against bad teams, now they visit the Niners on Sunday to prove their worth.

12. Green Bay Packers (5-3)- Dropped from last week and now with Aaron Rodgers out of action, they may continue to fall.

13. Dallas Cowboys (5-4)- Still middle of the road for me but they are in first place in a weak NFC East. Will be tested against the Saints on Sunday night.

14. New York Jets (5-4)- Good home win against a good Saints team leading into the bye week.

15. San Diego Chargers (4-4)- Another fourth quarter loss last week, now next up is the Denver Broncos.

16. Tennessee Titans (4-4)- I still like this football team and have the hapless Jags coming into town.

17. Miami Dolphins (4-4)- Can they overcome all the bad press this week and beat a winless Bucs team on Monday night?

18. Cleveland Browns (4-5)- Is Jason Campbell the answer to Hoyle?

19. Arizona Cardinals (4-4)- Next up is the Texans as they look to go above .500, unfortunately they have the 49ers and Seahawks to contend with in their division.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (4-5)- Back-up quarterback Nick Foles completely embarrassed the Raiders with seven touchdown passes, yet Vick may still get his job back when healthy.

21. Baltimore Ravens (4-4)- Offense must improve if they want to contend.

22. Washington Redskins (3-5)- With Minnesota coming up Thursday night, now is the chance to string some wins together in the winnable NFC East.

23. Buffalo Bills (3-6)- Tough road loss to the unbeaten Chiefs, but still like the direction they are going.

24. Oakland Raiders (3-5)- Horrible defensive performance against the Eagles. Next up is the lowly Giants, but it’s always tough for west coast teams to head east and win.

25. Houston Texans (2-6)- Defense is still there and had the Colts beat, but losing their coach proved too tough to overcome.

26. Atlanta Falcons (2-6)- Season is over and people are wondering why future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez wasn’t traded to a team with a chance to win it all?

27. St. Louis Rams (3-6)- Playing with a back up QB and heading into Indianapolis on Sunday.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-6)- Was Sundays blowout loss to the Patriots 55-31 their rock bottom? The worst we’ve seen in years!

29. New York Giants (2-6)- They have a very beatable Oakland team coming into town on Sunday.

30. Minnesota Vikings (1-7)- I guess the Josh Freeman quarterback of our future experiment is over after one game.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-8)- Gave Seattle all they could handle and showed some pride before falling in OT.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-8)- What hasn’t been said already? Next up at Tennessee.

Rob Gronkowski (USA In the present day Sports Photographs)

Studying the New England Patriots’ harm listing and decoding it are two completely different things.

The crew seems good on paper at four-1, but even a casual glance on the Patriots this season reveals how making an attempt issues have been up to now.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski has missed the entire season with forearm and again accidents to this point, and there have been conflicting reports about his availability for Sunday’s huge residence recreation towards the New Orleans Saints. Gronkowski formally is listed as questionable.

On the optimistic aspect, broad receiver Danny Amendola (groin) and operating again Stevan Ridley (knee) — also each questionable — appear solid bets to play.

But defensive sort out Tommy Kelly, alternatively, didn’t apply all week and was dominated out with a knee injury. Also out is returner Leon Washington.

Darren McFadden (USA As we speak Sports Photographs) Oakland Raiders at Kansas Metropolis Chiefs: Raiders operating again Darren McFadden (hamstring) was limited for 3 straight practices and is questionable, as is his backup, Rashad Jennings (hamstring). The following man up can be versatile fullback Marcel Reece (knee), who’s probable. The Chiefs’ tight ends are banged up. Travis Kelce (knee) is out, Anthony Fasano (ankle/knee) is uncertain and Sean McGrath (knee) is probable. The perfect news they received all week is when Justin Houston (concussion) was upgraded to possible.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Michael Vick (hamstring) is listed as questionable, but there is a sense that the group won’t risk it and as a substitute will begin Nick Foles in his place. For the Bucs, receiver Mike Williams is questionable with a hamstring injury. Antonio Cromartie (USA In the present day Sports activities Photographs) Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets: The Steelers are mostly healthy coming off the bye, save for receiver Markus Wheaton (finger), who’s out. NFL Sunday Preview/Pick-Packers vs. Ravens

Green-Bay-Packers-600x375

By Mario Martinez-Wonder Punter

Green Bay Packers (2-2) @ Baltimore Ravens (3-2) 10/13 1:00PM EST

Line: GB -2.5

Over/Under: 48.5

The Green Bay Packers, coming off last week’s victory over Detroit go into Baltimore and look to continue their winning ways and make a move in the NFC Central as they battle the Ravens.

The Packers will be without All-Pro outside linebacker Clay Matthews who broke his right thumb during last Sunday’s game.

Matthews is expected to be out of action for a least a couple of weeks and when he does return may have to wear a cast. He has also been bothered by a hamstring injury and his absence is a big blow to the defense who are looking to re-establish themselves as one of the league’s best and get back into the playoff race.

The fifth-year pro has a team high three sacks this season and has led Green Bay in sacks every year he has been in the league.

“I mean, Clay Matthews is our best player on defense. But this pro football,” Packer’s coach Mike McCarthy said. “We’ve been down this road before. It’s an excellent opportunity for others to step up and make plays.”

Green Bay, who are ranked 26th in the league with 288.8 passing yards allowed per game will rely on linebackers Mike Neal and Nick Perry to step up make those plays.

“I think Mike Neal has made really good strides. I think you saw him play his best game (Sunday). I think you saw Nick Perry play his best game,” defensive coordinator Dom Capers said Monday. “We need for Mike Neal and Nick Perry to be ready to play next week the way they played this week. Because they played their best football this week.”

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a big road win from last Sunday when they defeated Miami 26-23 with a strong running game that accounted for a season-best 133 yards. They defense also had six sacks against Miami.

However, the Green Bay defense is strong against the run, so quarterback Joe Flacco may have to go to the air as well to create a balanced attack, but the Raven’s offensive line has given up 14 sacks so far making that game plan that much more of a challenge.

“Joe never gets fazed,” coach John Harbaugh said of Flacco, “He’s not going to get rattled.”

While Baltimore’s offense may be off and on, one consistent element of the Ravens is their defense, who are now led by Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumerville.

The Ravens are second-best in the NFL with 19 sacks, with Suggs having seven of those. Good for fourth-best in the NFL this season. Suggs has an incredible 91½ sacks in his career, making him Baltimore’s best in the sack department.

“I don’t want to be known as a pass rusher. I want to be known as a defender that can do more than just one thing.” Said Suggs. “I don’t wan to just have a lot of sacks. I like to fill up the stat sheet.”

One of the better games on Sunday. Expect both teams to be ready to play their best football, but see the Packers winning a close one on the road.

PICK: Green Bay Packers

Jags assures the team is not holding fire sale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars usually are not conducting a hearth sale.

General supervisor David Caldwell stated Thursday that the workforce’s trade of left tackle Eugene Monroe to Baltimore for draft picks does not mean he’s seeking to unload different gamers.

In fact, Caldwell was emphatic that he is not going to commerce anyone on the roster now and singled out working back Maurice Jones-Drew and linebacker Paul Posluszny, two of the veterans subject to the most commerce speculation.

“I had good talks with Poz and Mojo as we speak, and so they’re not going wherever,” Caldwell said. “We feel good about those guys being here. Nor do they want to go anywhere. They’re part of this crew, and we’re enthusiastic about having them a part of this workforce.”

Caldwell mentioned tight finish Marcedes Lewis and guard Uche Nwaneri are staying put as well.

Jones-Drew is within the ultimate 12 months of his contract and is being paid $4.ninety five million. He has rushed for less than 138 yards in 4 games (2.four yards per carry). Posluszny is within the third yr of a six-yr, $forty five million contract and is scheduled to make $eight.5 million subsequent season and $9.5 million in 2015. He’s second in the NFL with forty tackles.

Lewis has taken part in just two plays this season because of a calf harm. He’s in the third year of a 5-year, $35 million contact. He is being paid $4.2 million this season, and his salary escalates to $5.seventy five million and $eight.25 million in the ultimate two years. Nwaneri is within the fourth yr of a six-yr, $25 million contract. He’ll make $3.775 million this yr and the following two years.

[+] EnlargeDavid CaldwellKirby Lee/USA AS WE SPEAK Sports activitiesJags GM David Caldwell was emphatic that he isn’t going to trade any extra players on his roster after his deal that sent Eugene Monroe to the Ravens.

Caldwell stated he was not actively procuring Monroe and instead acquired a name from the Ravens. The deal received finished shortly, and the Jaguars received a fourth- and fifth-round decide in next yr’s draft. That provides the Jaguars 10 whole picks, which helps Caldwell’s plan of rebuilding the franchise by means of the draft as an alternative of making an attempt to signal key players in free company.

“Ten picks is good,” Caldwell said. “Obviously it’s higher than seven, eight or 9, but you’d like to have as many as you may get to construct that because you may commerce for future picks. Sometimes you may take a four [fourth-round decide] and turn it right into a future 3 and take a future 3 and switch it into a future 2, and finally you end up with two 1s sooner or later. It offers you loads of flexibility.

“They all the time say cash is king, and in the NFL, draft picks are form of your cash.”

Regardless that the Jaguars (0-4) seemingly might get more for Jones-Drew, Posluszny, Lewis or Nwaneri, Caldwell is standing firm that they’re staying put.

“We’ll all the time answer our telephone,” he said. “Trades are difficult to do within the season, and now we have no intention of trading anyone on our roster proper now.”

Ravens’ Suggs talks to Goodell, blackout

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs accuses NFL commissioner Roger Goodell of having a job within the Super Bowl blackout during an interview on ESPN’s “E:60″ that can air Tuesday.

[+] EnlargeSan Francisco 49ersMatthew Emmons/USA RIGHT THIS MOMENT Sports activitiesThe Ravens led the 49ers 28-6 earlier than the lights went out for 34 minutes on the Superdome within the Tremendous Bowl. San Francisco rallied after the blackout, forcing Baltimore to hold on for a good win.

“I used to be like Vegas, parlor methods, you already know what I imply?” Suggs stated. “I was like, ahh, Roger Goodell, he never stops, he all the time has something up his sleeve. He just could not let us have this one in a landslide, huh?”

The lights went out early in the third quarter of February’s Super Bowl between the Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, shortly after Jacoby Jones’ 108-yard kickoff return gave Baltimore a 28-6 lead. The unprecedented Super Bowl moment delayed the game for 34 minutes. San Francisco then scored 17 unanswered factors as soon as the game resumed, and the Ravens needed a late fourth-quarter stand in the purple zone to prevail.

ESPN NFL commentator and former Raven Ray Lewis introduced up a conspiracy principle on the “America’s Sport” documentary series that the ability outage might have been a ploy to assist the 49ers regroup, however Suggs pointed the finger straight at Goodell.

“I assumed he had a hand in it,” Suggs stated. “Most undoubtedly, he had a hand in it.”

Suggs mentioned he believes Goodell favors some groups over others.

“We stroll out of the Denver sport, and linebackers are warming up on their sideline, and who can we see speaking with John Elway, and it’s like hmmm. I thought, your commissioner is meant to be impartial,” Suggs stated. “He ain’t imagined to be on one aspect or the other; he is purported to be within the field. I noticed him on their sideline and I was like, huh, I do know who he’s going for. I feel he undoubtedly has his favorites.”

Suggs added, “He’ll deny it, but, like I said, when I run out of the tunnel and the very first thing I see is John Elway laughing it up, I am undoubtedly going to really feel some way about that. You’re the commissioner of this league and also you’re supposed to make sure the whole lot is being played on an even taking part in discipline. I undoubtedly don’t assume he is doing a very good job, and I do not think he should be making $10 million a yr. That is simply my private opinion.”

Goodell really made $29.49 million in 2012, in accordance with the league’s tax return.

Daily Fantasy Football news

FAN“The squeaky wheel gets the grease.” That outdated saying is getting an actual workout this season.

Mike Wallace whined after Week 1. He got targeted 11 instances and posted a 9/one hundred fifteen/1 line in Week 2. Antonio Brown whined during and after Week 2. In Week three, he popped off for 9/196/2 in opposition to the Bears.

That brings us to Frank Gore. After the Week 3 loss to the Colts, Gore was spotted reportedly giving coach Jim Harbaugh some “choice phrases.” Presumably, it had to do with the meager eleven carries he obtained in the loss. Properly, the Niners responded by riding Gore hard in Monday night’s 35-11 win at St. Louis. He sat out most of the fourth quarter and still rushed 23 occasions for 153 yards with a touchdown.

Everybody needs to know who’s the following squeaker to get greased. How about Hakeem Nicks, who had no catches on one target in Week 3. He’s scheduled to match up with a hobbled Brandon Flowers (knee) Sunday.

Anyway, back to Gore. Let’s not overreact to a shredding of an atrocious Rams protection that additionally obtained eaten up by DeMarco Murray (26/a hundred seventy five/1) in Week three. However not like most 30-yr-previous backs, Gore nonetheless has plenty of juice. He also performs behind arguably the league’s greatest run-blocking line and a positive schedule the remainder of the best way. The Niners still get to play the Jaguars, Redskins, Rams once more and Falcons in fantasy’s Super Bowl week. I might not contemplate this a promote-excessive moment on Gore.

D-WEALTHY’s DUD
Isaiah Pead was a surprise inactive 90 minutes before kickoff, sending house owners scrambling to get Daryl Richardson back into lineups. That turned out to be an enormous mistake. Richardson began and played just about each snap within the first half, but had actually no operating room. He also didn’t break any tackles and had an terrible drop. Richardson completed the primary half with 12 carries for sixteen yards and no catches.

When the second half opened, the Rams used Benny Cunningham as their each-down back. That lasted till the end of the third quarter, when Richardson obtained back in. He promptly received demolished by Navorro Bowman in go protection.

On the season, Richardson has now rushed forty two times for 114 yards (2.seventy one YPC). We’ll have to attend and see what’s up with Pead, however it’s time for a change. At worst, Richardson must be a part of a committee.

49ERS at RAMS QUICK SLANTS
Vernon Davis (hamstring) told NFL Community earlier than the game that he was at 85 p.c. He appeared to be operating tremendous and played a ton of snaps, ending with 2/18/1. … Sam Bradford was atrocious. He missed open receivers along with his arm and missed them together with his eyes. The Rams’ first thirteen possessions: PUNT, FG, PUNT, PUNT, INT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT, FUMBLE, PUNT. … I had Tavon Austin No. 1 on my most overvalued listing earlier than the season. He’s not good in visitors and there’s not loads of space in opposition to the defenses like the Niner’s. … Kendall Hunter seems absolutely recovered from his Achilles’ tear. It’s apparent that Hunter – not LaMichael James – is Frank Gore’s backup. … Folks that wrote off Colin Kaepernick following poor Week 2 and three performances should get punished. He only had 167 yards and two TDs Monday night time, however could have had a ton extra if the Niners needed it. The guy is going to complete as a prime-7 fantasy quarterback.

FANTASY FOOTBALL DAY #1
When the Patriots decided to not put Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) on the reserve/PUP checklist, it was a sign that they anticipated him to play someday before Week 6. In any other case, they’d simply be wasting a roster spot for no motive. Properly, it now sounds like they’re doing just that for one more week.

Although Gronk continues to practice daily together with his teammates, a supply tells ProFootballTalk the tight end’s outlook for Sunday night time’s sport at Atlanta is just not optimistic.

Search for another questionable tag and tight lips from the Patriots, however owners want to search out different options. It doesn’t appear like Gronk has had a setback, however the Pats are three-zero and his forearm can all the time use another week or two to heal. Maybe Week 5 would be the return of the Gronk.

Meanwhile, Danny Amendola (groin) continues to apply on a restricted foundation, however is just not expected to play Week 4. Perhaps he’ll be again Week 5 as nicely. So what now we have is more of the identical for Tom Brady – Julian Edelman will lead the workforce in targets, Brandon Bolden will be the passing-down back, Kenbrell Thompkins will get loads of chances at X and Aaron Dobson would be the third wideout.

FANTASY FOOTBALL DAY #2
When Terrelle Pryor was first named the Raiders beginning quarterback, a lot of people in contrast his throwing potential to that of Tim Tebow. Myself included. As it turned out, we were fallacious at first and are getting more fallacious by the sport.

On Monday night, Pryor regarded like a fairly polished NFL quarterback that’s able to making big throws out of the pocket. Former NFL scout John Middlekauff tweeted that Pryor is additional alongside as a pocket passer right now than Cam Newton was four games into his NFL profession. Middlekauff also mentioned that if pressured to choose a QB for the subsequent 10 years, he’d go together with Pryor over Cam.

All of this is what makes Thursday’s information much more disappointing. In line with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pryor is unlikely to play towards the Redskins Sunday because of a concussion sustained late in Monday’s loss. Matt Flynn goes to start out and will drag your complete Raiders offense – including Darren McFadden – down with him. I wouldn’t drop Pryor though, there are massive fantasy issues ahead for him.

FANTASY FOOTBALL DAY #3
Le’Veon Bell says his foot is one hundred pc and he’s working towards in full. His offensive linemen are mentioning him in the identical breath as Adrian Peterson. But Ben Roethlisberger is saying he doesn’t feel like he can rely on the rookie. So what offers?

Effectively, Bell goes to need to earn it. I think his Week 4 workload will come down to how properly he plays early on. If he’s a minimum of getting what’s blocked and selecting up all his assignments, he’ll see 12-15 touches against a really dangerous protection. If he scuffles at first, he’ll lose a number of work to Jonathan Dwyer and Felix Jones. That makes Bell a dangerous flex play.

The real payoff will come when the Steelers come out of their Week 5 bye. By the time Week 6 rolls around, Bell could have confirmed to Big Ben and everybody else in Pittsburgh that he’s the one who should be dominating this backfield.

HARM FAST SLANTS: QUARTERBACK AND OPERATING BACK
Reggie Bush (knee) is working towards in full. He’s going to start and monopolize snaps forward of Joique Bell. … Mark Ingram (toe) isn’t practising. Pierre Thomas is a sneaky flex play once more. … Chris Ivory (hamstring) isn’t going to play this week. Bilal Powell is a high-quality flex. … Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) should be fantastic for Sunday, however maybe his absence from observe ought to lead to more work for Trent Richardson. … Ray Rice is practicing and seemingly headed for a sport-time name. It’s reportedly a matter of pain tolerance. … C.J. Spiller (quad) is training in full. He has a tricky matchup vs. the Ravens, however needs to be in lineups.

DAMAGE FAST SLANTS: WIDE RECEIVER AND TIGHT FINISH
Mike Williams (hamstring) and Vincent Jackson (ribs) both missed practice and are very questionable for Sunday. … Officially, Andre Johnson (shin) is a sport-time call. But he stated he expects to play. … Appears like Patrick Edwards (ankle) will play. I’d nonetheless somewhat roll with Ryan Broyles. … Kenny Britt (ribs) is questionable. It may very well be a Justin Hunter popping out get together. … Lance Moore (wrist) left Week three early and isn’t working towards. Kenny Stills would play a ton of snaps if Moore sits. … Both Fred Davis (ankle) and Jordan Reed (quad) are questionable for this week. Keep away from. … Miles Austin (hamstring) remains sidelined. He’s not possible to belief this week given history and the late start. His direct backup is rookie Terrance Williams.

“The squeaky wheel will get the grease.” That outdated saying is getting an actual workout this season.

Mike Wallace whined after Week 1. He bought targeted eleven occasions and posted a 9/115/1 line in Week 2. Antonio Brown whined throughout and after Week 2. In Week three, he popped off for 9/196/2 in opposition to the Bears.

That brings us to Frank Gore. After the Week three loss to the Colts, Gore was spotted reportedly giving coach Jim Harbaugh some “selection phrases.” Presumably, it had to do with the meager eleven carries he received within the loss. Well, the Niners responded by riding Gore hard in Monday night time’s 35-11 win at St. Louis. He sat out many of the fourth quarter and nonetheless rushed 23 occasions for 153 yards with a touchdown.

Everyone desires to know who’s the following squeaker to get greased. How about Hakeem Nicks, who had no catches on one target in Week three. He’s scheduled to match up with a hobbled Brandon Flowers (knee) Sunday.

Anyway, again to Gore. Let’s not overreact to a shredding of an atrocious Rams protection that also acquired eaten up by DeMarco Murray (26/one hundred seventy five/1) in Week three. However in contrast to most 30-yr-old backs, Gore nonetheless has plenty of juice. He also performs behind arguably the league’s finest run-blocking line and a favorable schedule the remainder of the best way. The Niners nonetheless get to play the Jaguars, Redskins, Rams again and Falcons in fantasy’s Tremendous Bowl week. I would not take into account this a promote-high moment on Gore.

D-WEALTHY’s DUD

Richardson completed the primary half with 12 carries for sixteen yards and no catches.

When the second half opened, the Rams used Benny Cunningham as their every-down back. That lasted till the end of the third quarter, when Richardson received again in. He promptly received demolished by Navorro Bowman in cross safety.

On the season, Richardson has now rushed forty two occasions for 114 yards (2.71 YPC). We’ll have to attend and see what’s up with Pead, but it surely’s time for a change. At worst, Richardson needs to be a part of a committee.

49ERS at RAMS FAST SLANTS

He’s not good in site visitors and there’s not plenty of space against the defenses just like the Niner’s. … Kendall Hunter appears to be like totally recovered from his Achilles’ tear. It’s obvious that Hunter – not LaMichael James – is Frank Gore’s backup. … People that wrote off Colin Kaepernick following poor Week 2 and three performances deserve to get punished. He only had 167 yards and two TDs Monday night time, but could have had a ton more if the Niners needed it. The man is going to finish as a top-7 fantasy quarterback.

SNIPPET FOR DAY #1
When the Patriots determined to not put Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) on the reserve/PUP list, it was an indication that they expected him to play someday earlier than Week 6. Otherwise, they’d just be wasting a roster spot for no motive. Well, it now feels like they’re doing simply that for one more week.

So what we have is extra of the identical for Tom Brady – Julian Edelman will lead the workforce in targets, Brandon Bolden would be the passing-down again, Kenbrell Thompkins will get loads of chances at X and Aaron Dobson would be the third wideout.

SNIPPET FOR DAY #2
When Terrelle Pryor was first named the Raiders starting quarterback, lots of people in contrast his throwing capability to that of Tim Tebow. Myself included. As it turned out, we had been unsuitable at first and are getting extra flawed by the game.

On Monday night, Pryor looked like a reasonably polished NFL quarterback that’s able to making massive throws out of the pocket. Former NFL scout John Middlekauff tweeted that Pryor is additional along as a pocket passer proper now than Cam Newton was 4 video games into his NFL career. Middlekauff additionally mentioned that if pressured to choose a QB for the next 10 years, he’d go together with Pryor over Cam.

SNIPPET OF THE DAY #three
Le’Veon Bell says his foot is one hundred pc and he’s practising in full. His offensive linemen are mentioning him in the same breath as Adrian Peterson. However Ben Roethlisberger is saying he doesn’t really feel like he can depend on the rookie. So what gives?

Well, Bell is going to must earn it. I suspect his Week four workload will come down to how properly he performs early on.
