Three Sooners Penalized For Too Much Pasta
Oklahoma athletics apparently does not believe in all-you-can-eat banquets.
The Sooners elected to self-report three players for getting extra meals at a graduation banquet than they should have, based on The Oklahoman.
The violations occurred on Might 10, 2013, in line with the newspaper, with pasta being the precise item in question.
To have their eligibility reinstated, the three had to donate $3.eighty three every (the cost of the pasta servings) to charities of their alternative.
While the Sooners elected to self-report, the NCAA released a press release saying that what the three players did was not a violation of any NCAA guidelines.
"Whereas we recognize Oklahoma's commitment, there are not any NCAA rules relating to portion sizes, and any penalties were decided by the college," NCAA spokeswoman Meghan Durham mentioned in a press release.
Although the gamers weren't identified, offensive linemen Gabe Ikard and Austin Woods took to Twitter to fess up for piling on the pasta and declare they paid $5 for the food.
