NBA Free Pick & Prediction Suns v. Warriors

After a huge home win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Phoenix Suns will look to win the season-series against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday evening.

The Warriors, known for their offense all season have been getting it done with some solid defense as of late, winning three straight and all with a slumping Stephen Curry, who has failed to score over 20 points in four consecutive games for the first time in 2014. Golden State (39-24) is 8-2 since the All-Star break and understand it will be the defense that will ultimately win them games as no team as scored over 100 points during their three-game win streak and are 30-4 when they can keep their opponents under the century mark.

All in all I think we’re doing a great job of understanding who we are. We are a defensive-minded team,” center Jermaine O’Neil said. “We’ve got guys who can score the basketball, but I don’t want anybody to be fooled; we are a defensive-minded team and if we’re going to win it all, that’s what’s going to help us win it all.”

For Phoenix (36-25), despite winning three-of-four games, defense has taken a back seat to this high-scoring team who have allowed an average of 112.0 points over their last seven games. But, the bright spot has been the play of 7-year veteran Gerald Green over his last two games going for 33 in a 129-120 win over the Atlanta Hawks and for a career-high 41 in a 128-122 victory over Oklahoma City to help the Suns rally from a 16-point deficit.

I love the way he’s playing right now,” coach Jeff Hornacek said of Green. “We knew he could shoot the ball. There’s not too many guys that can get on a roll like that.”

Green entered this season with his seventh team with a career average of 9.4 points per game, however since Feb. 8 has been among the league leaders with 23.3 points per contest. Green scored 25 in a 122-109 win over the Warriors that night.

Goran Dragic has been big as well coming off a 40-point win last week against New Orleans and is averaging 25.2 points in his last five road games and with the Suns opening a nine-day stretch in which they play five of six on the road and trailing the Warriors by two games for sixth in the Western Conference…. Sunday’s game is a huge one along with every other game from this point on.

Phoenix is playing great basketball. They’re trying to knock on our door for that sixth spot,” said O’Neil. “They play with great speed, they play together, they shoot a lot of 3s. We’re going to try to slow those guys down and put them in a difficult situation on the defensive end.”

The Suns have taken two of three so far, but they got spanked 115-86 back in Oakland on Dec. 27 to give them four-straight losses in the Bay Area and with the way the Warriors are playing defense, the oddsmakers have made Golden State a (minus -7.5) point favorite, but get the latest spread up until game time right here at Wonder Punter.

Stephen Curry went for a triple-double in that big win with 14 points and career-highs of 16 assists and 13 boards and I expect him to shake off his slump and lead his team to a big win on Sunday night to help give the Warriors some breathing room over the charging Phoenix Suns.

Free NBA Pick & Prediction Spurs vs. Suns

San Antonio Spurs (40-15, 22-7 away) @ Phoenix Suns (32-21, 18-9 home) 02/21- 6:00PM EST

Line: SAS -1.0

Over/Under: 209.0

The San Antonio Spurs on the heals of two impressive road wins on back-to-back nights against the Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers will look to secure another big road win as they face the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

It seems the All-Star break did the “aging” Spurs some good as they come out of the break looking for their fourth straight win without injured point guard Tony Parker and look to close out their season-high nine game annual road trip by going seven of nine.

What was impressive about the Portland victory is they did it without Parker… out with Achilles, groin, back and calf ailments and Tim Duncan who got his customary rest on a back-to-back night.

The Spurs (40-15) have gotten a huge lift from reserve Patty Mills as the fifth-year guard went for 29 points in a 111-109 win at Portland without Parker and Duncan.

If it wasn’t for him the last couple of nights, we would have really struggled,” san Antonio forward Danny Green said. “He’s doing what Tony usually does, in taking over in that fourth quarter.”

Mills has responded with his playing time by averaging 21.0 points over his last seven games, including a season-high 32 points against Charlotte back on Feb. 8 in less than 29 minutes of playing time.

For me, it’s just been learning from great guys,” Mills said. “We’ve got three future Hall of Famers and a great coach, so I just sat back and learned.”

The Southwest Division leaders have been battling injuries and age all season but have managed to remain amongst the best in the NBA, are still loaded with talent with the likes of Marco Belinelli, Manu Ginobili, Parker, Duncan and now welcome back the addition of Tiago Splitter who missed the last four games with a calf injury.

San Antonio has dominated the Suns of late, having won eight of nine, including four straight on the road and taking the first two of the season and will face a Suns team that also won on back-to-back nights to improve to 2-0 since the All-Star break.

Coming off back-to-back we were a little tired, a little exhausted,” said Channing Frye who added 15 points and seven rebounds in a 100-94 win over Boston on Tuesday night. “And I think we had some mental breakdowns, but other than that, I think we just battle and grind it out.”

Phoenix is in the midst of a nine game stretch that will only see them travel on the road for one road game on Feb 26 at Utah, so sitting 3½ games behind the Pacific Division leading Clippers… are the Suns (32-21) poised to make a move in the second half of the season as the playoffs approach?

With the way the Spurs have handled the Suns recently, the oddsmakers have made the Spurs a slim (minus 1.0) point favorite on the road, but stay in the know with the latest spread up until game time right here at Wonder Punter.

I like the way both teams are playing this season, but it’s hard to overlook the Spurs and they way they just keep on winning and predict them going into Phoenix and leaving with a close win.

NBA Prediction Tuesday Night Preview/Pick- Miami vs. Phoenix

NBA pick heat vs suns

NBA Free Pick & Prediction Heat vs. Suns

Miami Heat (35-14, 15-10 away) @ Phoenix Suns (30-20, 17-8 home) 02/11- 9:00PM EST

Line: MIA -4.0

Over/Under: 208.5

The Miami Heat will try to bounce back from an ugly loss at the hands of the lowly Utah Jazz as they take on the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.

The Heat suffered a 94-89 loss to one of the NBA’s worst teams on Saturday night, a night that saw LeBron James endure his worst shooting performance of the season as he went just 4 of 13 with 13 points.

It was just one of those games where offensively we were out of rhythm and you try to win on the defense end,” James said.

James also did not get much help from anyone else in a Heat uniform as the team struggled to put the rock in the net shooting 43.3 percent for the game but only 11 for 30 (36.7) in the second half. Chris Bosh also had a disappointing night going a dismal 3 of 12 for 13 points.

We didn’t shoot the ball well like we are capable of doing,” James said. “We had some great looks, including myself, some really open looks.”

Miami (35-14) was riding a three game win streak prior to the unexpected loss to the Jazz but they expect a better all around game as they take on a Phoenix Suns team they have dominated in the past winning 10 of 11, including a 107-92 home win back on Nov. 25.

James has been lights out against Phoenix in his last seven games averaging 32.4 points on 55.1 percent shooting. In his last game versus the Suns, James could do no wrong as he went 11 of 14 with 35 points on a season-best 78.6 shooting percentage.

Dwayne Wade joined in on the fun in that 15 point blowout with 21 points and 12 assists.

For Phoenix (30-20), they will be looking for their second straight victory after beating a tough Golden State team 122-109 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Point guard Goran Dragic took over late in the fourth quarter against the Warriors scoring 13 of his 34 points—a career high. Dragic has been the go-to man over his last seven games averaging 26.9 points while shooting 62.7 percent and from behind the arc is 19 of 30.

Shooting guard Gerald Green bounced back from a three game shooting slump (9-33) going for 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting in their win over Golden State.

These guys were sharp,” coach Jeff Hornacek said. “The one thing I told them, especially that fourth quarter, they played smart.”

But, if the Suns expect to turn things around against the Heat on Tuesday night, they will need a total team effort as the oddsmakers have made the Heat a (minus -4.0) point favorite in Phoenix…. a place they have won five straight times. Remember to get the latest spread on the game up until game time right here at Wonder Punter.

With the Heat scoring 104.0 points per game and the Suns averaging 105.1 points per contest, it will come down to the team that wants to play defense, and I feel that team will be the Miami Heat. Both teams are 7-3 over their last 10 games and I expect a good one but I will go with the Heat to win in a close one and predict the big three of James, Wade and Bosh to play an all-around great game.

The only significant injury is PG Eric Bledsoe, who has been out since Feb. 8.

Report: Bledsoe needs surgery, out indefinitely

Eric Bledsoe is out indefinitely.

(USATSI)Eric Bledsoe is out indefinitely. (USATSI)
ESPN reports that Suns guard Eric Bledsoe will require knee surgery and is out indefinitely. The move comes after Bledsoe failed to secure an extension with the Suns and just as the Suns were starting to push for a top-five playoff spot in the tough Western Conference. Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe, one of the leading contenders for the NBA's Most Improved Player award, is out indefinitely after the team determined that Bledsoe needs a surgical procedure to repair cartilage in his right knee, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Sources told ESPN. com that the exact scope and severity of the injury will not be known until Bledsoe is in a surgeon's care, but he is suspected to have suffered meniscus damage in his Dec. 30 return to Los Angeles to face the Clippers.

via Eric Bledsoe of Phoenix Suns needs knee surgery, will be out indefinitely – ESPN.

Bledsoe, 24, is averaging 18. 0 points, 4. 3 rebounds and 5. 6 assists per game this season for the upstart Suns.

OK, seriously. Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Marc Gasol, Al Horford, Brook Lopez, Danilo Gallinari, Eric Bledsoe, the list goes on and on. This season may not statistically be the worst in NBA history for injuries, but it certainly feels like it.

2014 NBA Mock Draft: Thanksgiving Week Edition

Image (1) basketball-top-5-594x396.png for post 296209

It’s 2014 NBA Mock draft time! One of the best drafts in years! As many teams traded to get into this first round, there are a number of strikes that still are to be decided. This site is a good resource recapping plenty of the trades. My guess on the order beneath isn’t based on where issues are now – but relatively how I assume it would end up. Issues taken into consideration: Salaries, potential free agents, needs, and evaluation from several NBA scouts. That is not a ranking of greatest gamers within the draft.

1. Utah Jazz - Andrew Wiggins, F, Kansas. You would possibly hear some Jabari Parker chatter (he’s Mormon!) however right now, it’s Wiggins. Upside, upside, upside. The place does he match in the event you preserve Hayward? You can play each.

2. Milwaukee BucksJulius Randle, F, Kentucky. Will instantly be their best participant. Randle and Sanders will be a pleasant tandem inside. They’ll re-shape the backcourt in the 2015 lottery – Antetokounmpo continues to be a couple of years away from being a factor.

Jabari Parker shows off NBA moves against Kansas-a

three. Boston CelticsJabari Parker, F, Duke. Rumors Parker may stay. Fun storyline, I’m not buying it. If you’re a kind of conspiracy types, how about the Celtics successful the lottery? Brad Stevens, Lakers and Celtics both down … yeah, yeah, I know, it’s not rigged.

4. Philadelphia 76ersJoel Embiid, C, Kansas. Uncooked 7-footer who picked up a basketball for the first time three years ago. An Embiid/Noel frontline blocks a whole lot of shots, provides little offense. They’d must let Spencer Hawes walk in free agency. Why not Marcus Sensible? Because MCW seems to be like a keeper. Good’s an improved shooter, however a greater match at PG.

5. Sacramento Kings – Marcus Good, PG, Oklahoma State. Smart’s a scorer and distributor within the mildew of Russell Westbrook, with practically pretty much as good athleticism. Sensible, Cousins and McLemore? You’ve obtained something good. I’m positive the Isaiah Thomas groupies won’t like this move.

6. Charlotte BobcatsDante Exum, PG, Australia – A lithe 6-foot-6 and only 18. Shouldn’t take lengthy to turn out to be an impression player. I like Kemba Walker (sixteen.5 ppg however solely 38% FGs), and he could be a precious reserve on this staff. The Bobcats, once more, are one of many worst scoring teams in the league, and dead final in FG shooting (forty one.1%).

Arizona v San Diego State

7. LA LakersAaron Gordon, F, Arizona. Typically in comparison with a young Blake Griffin. Insane athlete. Kobe will whip him into shape quickly.

eight. Phoenix Suns – Gary Harris, SG, Michigan State. Prolific scorer, above-average defender. Sixth man for a 12 months, then takes over after they unload Dragic’s expiring? Or is it price stashing Croatian Dario Saric right here, and getting function players later? Primary wants now look like SF/SG, assuming Bledsoe is their future at PG.

gary harris michigan state

9. Philadelphia 76ers (via New Orleans) – Rodney Hood, SF, Duke. What turns into of Evan Turner? There are commerce rumors (Cleveland?) which would leave Philly with a scoring void at SF. While Duke’s Parker has the hype, Hood is quietly averaging 21 ppg, sixty six FG% and 68% 3FG, although it’s clearly early.

10. Orlando Magic – Noah Vonleh, F, Indiana – Magic have been better than anticipated. Rank in the middle of the pack in lots of NBA classes after being the worst team in the league last yr. Needs: Future PG, inside scorer, SF. Vonleh’s off to a nice begin (12 ppg, 10 ppg) and would match nicely next to Vucevic.

mcgary-dunk1

eleven. Dallas Mavericks – Mitch McGary, PF, Michigan. Terrific all-around expertise. Might be 22 in June. Learns how you can be a pro from Dirk, probably turns into a 18-10 man for perhaps a decade? A less athletic Chris Webber?

12. Denver Nuggets – James Young, SG, Kentucky. Brian Shaw remains to be tinkering, so it’s difficult to inform what they want. Will they unload JaVale McGee? What occurs when Danilo Gallinari returns? Don’t love Younger but, and the all of a sudden-defensive Nuggets won’t contact him until the defense improves. But he can rating.

Image (1) alley-1.gif for post 265394

thirteen. Toronto Raptors – Montrezl Harrell, PF, Louisville. Solely guy they’ve gone long on to this point is DeMar DeRozan. The dangerous news: DeRozan and Rudy Gay hog all of the pictures, but shoot 41% and 38% respectively. I think they’ll groom Harrell subsequent 12 months, then let Amir Johnson walk.

14. Phoenix Suns (through Washington) Dario Saric, F, Croatia – Yup, I’ve bought the Wizards missing the playoffs. With three first round picks, certain, the Suns can afford to stash somebody for a couple years. They aren’t a playoff crew in the loaded West next yr, anyway.

15. Cleveland Cavaliers – Willie Cauley-Stein, C, Kentucky. Varejao has another year left, then the Cavs could or may not pick up his possibility (plus, he’s 32 in September and can’t keep wholesome); Bynum exhibits up briefly once a week. WCS will present a good last line of protection.

Image (7) Glenn-Robinson-michigan-wolverines.jpg for post 296209

sixteen. Atlanta Hawks – Glenn Robinson III, F, Michigan. Rebounding has been their early weakness, however their bench lacks pop, not less than with Lou Williams not absolutely healthy. Robinson has struggled this 12 months at Michigan, however only as a result of the Wolverines don’t have a PG. May begin as a rookie.

17. Orlando Magic (by way of NY by way of Denver) – Jahii Carson, PG, Arizona State. I’m an unlimited fan, and think he’s acquired Nate Robinson’s athletic capacity with Brandon Jennings abilities. Heir obvious to Jameer Nelson?

Jahii Carson eurostep vs UNLV-b

18. Charlotte Bobcats (through Detroit) – Nik Stauskas, SG, Michigan. Too high, proper? As famous earlier, the Bobcats can’t shoot, and Stauskas is likely one of the best shooters in the draft. Final 12 months he looked like a Kyle Korver; this yr, he feels nearer to a more explosive JJ Redick. Apologies for the white-guy comparisons.

Nik Stauskas slam against Florida State-a

19. Memphis Grizzlies – Doug McDermott, F, Creighton. Most likely concentrating on a SG, or a backup at SF. How a couple of shooter for the postseason when groups double Gasol or Randolph? McDermott doesn’t have the scale (6-foot-8) to play the stretch four, but man is he a lethal shooter past the arc.

20. Charlotte Bobcats (via Portland) - Adreian Payne, F, Michigan State. A third pick in the Prime 20 may imply a Euro, or maybe frontcourt assist. Their 2013 decide, Cody Zeller, is shooting a woeful 34% so far. Payne, an elite athlete for six-foot-10, 250, can be going a lot greater if he weren’t 23 at the time of the draft.

payne michigan state nba

21. Phoenix Suns (via Minnesota) - Sam Dekker, F, Wisconsin. Such a very good all-round player. I’m trying ahead to when he’s free from the Bo Ryan system. Will we see Gordon Hayward-sort development?

22. Houston RocketsAndrew Harrison, PG, Kentucky. Hasn’t appeared great early – fouls have been a problem, so has working the offense – but it surely’s an extended season, and he may simply leap into the lottery. Shooting forty seven% on FGs and 46% on 3FG. Jeremy Lin has improved his shot, but he gained’t come low-cost, which is why I feel he strikes on.

23. LA Clippers – Wayne Selden, G, Kansas. Very sluggish start for the Jayhawks, but a highly-touted shooter coming out of highschool. At this price, he probably stays in Lawrence for a yr, turns into the man if Wiggins, Embiid, Ellis transfer on.

24. Boston Celtics (by way of Brooklyn) – Spencer Dinwiddie, G, Colorado. Yeah, this is bullish on the Nets, but they’ll’t remain this dangerous in the lowly East. Dinwiddie was a late-bloomer who’s taking pictures 44% on 3FGs this season. The bigger focus than this choose will be the Celtics on the buying and selling deadline.

25. Oklahoma MetropolisCorey Jefferson, F, Baylor. Robust participant. Offensively restricted, however a terrific athlete. Perkins is sort of carried out, Collison may be out of their value range, and Jefferson could possibly be a strong function participant in two seasons.

26. Chicago Bulls – Aaron Craft, PG, Ohio State. Hardest workforce to peg. Still have them making a run at the least by one spherical of the playoffs (barring further accidents). The East is that bad. However the draft? Heck, this team could possibly be blown up by the draft. Craft is a 1st round choose, that’s for sure.

27. San Antonio Spurs – Jordan Bachynski, C, Arizona State. Very agile, underrated 7-foot-2 senior who has made large strides in 4 seasons. His 14-11-7 blocks in opposition to Marquette this week might have been the very best sport of his career.

28. Phoenix Suns (by way of Indiana) - Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky. 4 picks? Yup. Johnson is a undertaking with upside, probably along the traces of Daniel Orton, who came out too early, was drafted, and is now on his third workforce in three years.

29. Utah Jazz (through Golden State) – Chris Walker, F, Florida. He’s ineligible until subsequent month, however by all accounts, the 6-foot-eleven McDonald’s All-American could be very talented.

30. Miami Warmth – Shabazz Napier, PG, Connecticut. Chalmers is a free agent, and if they’re pondering of sliding Cole right into a beginning role, Napier could be an excellent backup.

Wonder Punter NBA Power Rankings- Week 3

NBA_PowerRankings

With just about 3 full weeks of NBA action in the books after the conclusion of Tuesday night’s games… let’s take a look the latest Power Rankings as some teams continue to surprise and others continue to fall. Indiana, the last of the unbeatens suffered their first loss at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.

San Antonio and Indiana are playing like the two best teams in the league while early top 10 Philadelphia is falling fast.

Teams 1-30 with records and last weeks rankings in parentheses are as followed:

1 Indiana Pacers (9-1 LW 1)- They lost to Bulls on the second of a back-to-back. Danny Granger expected back soon.

2 San Antonio Spurs (9-1 LW 2)- The Spurs have won 7 straight while Tim Duncan is averaging career-lows of 12 points and 39.4 percent shooting.

3 Miami Heat (7-3 LW 5)- LeBron James is averaging 34 points per game during the Heat’s three game win streak.

4 Los Angeles Clippers (7-3 LW 7)- The Clippers have won four straight while Blake Griffin is averaging a double-double with 22.9 points and 10.9 boards.

5 Golden State Warriors (7-3 LW 8)- Warriors have won three straight while suffering through injuries.

6 Minnesota Timberwolves (7-4 LW 4)- Kevin Love and Kevin Martin have formed the league’s highest scoring-duo in the season’s opening month.

7 Portland Trailblazers (8-2 LW 13)- One of the league’s early surprises…. the Blazers have won six straight.

8 Oklahoma City Thunder (6-3 LW 3)- Thunder will be looking for revenge against the Clippers on Thursday night.

9 Houston Rockets (7-4 LW 10)- Back up center Omer Asik wants out of Houston and has been benched the last two games since his request.

10 Chicago Bulls (5-3 LW 12)- Derrick Rose hits six 3’s in their big win against Indiana on Saturday night.

11 Dallas Mavericks (6-4 LW 11)- Mavs look to get back on track when Dwight Howard and the Rockets visit Wednesday night.

12 Phoenix Suns (5-4 LW 6)- Suns have dropped three straight by an average 2 points.

13 Atlanta Hawks (6-4 LW 17) Another early surprise team is getting it done with Al Horford, Ronnie Millsap and the return of Lou Williams.

14 Memphis Grizzles (5-5 LW 9)- They continue to struggle and have the Clippers and Warriors on the road coming up.

15 Charlotte Bobcats (5-5 LW 16)- Continue to surprise with Al Jefferson still nursing a bad ankle. Have five of their next six games at home.

16 Philadelphia 76ers (5-6 LW 14)- Back to losing but still in first place in a bad Atlantic Division.

17 Denver Nuggets (4-5 LW 28)- Have won of four but have OKC, Chicago and back-to-back against Dallas coming up.

18 New Orleans Pelicans (4-6 LW 15)- Ryan Anderson lit it up with six 3’s against the Sixers… can he continue?

19 Los Angeles Lakers (5-7 LW 19)- Steve Nash is still out… but good news is Kobe Bryant has begun practicing.

20 Cleveland Cavaliers (4-7 LW 20) As Kyrie Irving goes, so do the Cavs. Averaging 27.5 in wins and 17.7 in losses.

21 Orlando Magic (4-7, LW 25)- Will Aaron Afflalo be traded? He’s averaging 21.7 points per game and playing well.

22 Toronto Raptors (4-7 LW 24)- Have lost three of four and still only getting scoring from Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan.

23 Brooklyn Nets (3-6)- Too much talent to be struggling but dealing with various injuries.

24 New York Knicks (3-6 LW 23)- Disappointing start and Carmelo Anthony is unhappy.

25 Boston Celtics (4-7 LW 26)- Started 0-4, won four in a row now has lost three straight.

26 Washington Wizards (2-7 LW 22)- Turning into a major disappointment early on… not was expected.

27 Detroit Pistons (3-6 LW 18)- Josh Smith makes his return to Atlanta on Wednesday night.

28 Milwaukee Bucks (2-7 LW 27)- No Brandon Knight, no Caron Butler… now have lost five straight.

29 Sacramento Kings (2-7 LW 29)- Only one win in November and three of next four is on the road.

30 Utah Jazz (1-10 LW 30)- Avoided tying their worst start in franchise history by beating the Pelicans.

Week 3 Power Rankings for the NBA

With Week 3 of the NBA starting on Tuesday night, let’s take a look at this week’s Power Rankings for all 30 teams.

1. Indiana Pacers (7-0)- Paul George is leading the Pacers to their best start in franchise history. The team to beat right now.

2. San Antonio Spurs (6-1)- With Philadelphia, Washington, Utah and Boston coming up, they can distance themselves from the pack.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder (5-1)- With Russell Westbrook back in the fold, things are looking up.

4. Minnesota Timberwolves (5-2)- Having a healthy Kevin Love does wonders for a team.

5. Miami Heat (4-3)- A sore back is slowing down LeBron as they work out their chemistry issues.

6. Phoenix Suns (5-2)- Eric Bledsoe is leading this week’s NBA’s surprise team as they have won all four of their home games.

7. Los Angeles Clippers (4-3)- Big road win at Houston as they are still trying to find their way under coach Doc Rivers.

8. Golden State Warriors (4-3)- Warriors have four different players averaging at least 15 points per game.

9. Memphis Grizzles (3-3)- Coming off a big home win against the Warriors may jump-start them.

10. Houston Rockets (4-3)- They hit the road after dropping their last three-games.

11. Dallas Mavericks (4-3)- Monte Ellis leads the team in scoring averaging 23 points a game.

12. Chicago Bulls (2-4)- Derrick Rose and the Bulls have a showdown with the Pacers this week as they look to get back to winning and avenge an earlier loss.

13. Portland Trailblazers (4-2)- Two of their four wins came against Sacramento with more winnable games coming up against the East.

14. Philadelphia 76ers (4-3)- Went 1-3 last week after starting 3-0… is the clock getting ready to strike midnight?

15. New Orleans Pelicans (3-4) Big win at home against the Lakers on Friday night, can they repeat that performance on Tuesday night in L.A.?

16. Charlotte Bobcats (3-3)- Another early surprise team in the NBA so far.

17. Atlanta Hawks (3-3)- Ronnie Millsap is off to a big year for the Hawks so far with 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

18. Detroit Pistons (2-3)- Josh Smith is fitting in nicely with his new team leading them 18.8 points per game.

19. Los Angeles Lakers (3-5)- As Kobe Bryant is still working his way back, Steve Nash is suffering from back pain once again limiting his play.

20. Cleveland Cavaliers (3-4)- Kyrie Irving is heating up having scored 25 or more in two of his last three games.

21. Brooklyn Nets (2-4)- Nets need more production from K.G who is only averaging six points per game and 6.7 rebounds a game.

22. Washington Wizards (2-4)- Still a better team them their record indicates but must finish games.

23. New York Knicks (2-4)- Can the return of J.R. Smith give them the shot in the arm they need?

24. Toronto Raptors (3-4)- Expect Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan to get their shooting touch back after struggling in the early season.

25. Orlando Magic (3-4)- Center Nikola Vucevic is averaging a double-double to begin the season with 15.7 points and 12.1 rebounds.

26. Boston Celtics (3-4)- The Celtics have won three straight including a win over the Miami Heat.

27. Milwaukee Bucks (2-3)- Their three losses have been by eight points or less.

28. Denver Nuggets (1-4)- Rough start under new head coach Brian Shaw as they are off to their worst start since 2004.

29. Sacramento Kings (1-5)- DeMarcus Cousins is a one-man show, but it will take more then that as they have dropped five in a row.

30. Utah Jazz (0-7)- Jazz are off to their worst start since going 0-11 in their first season in the league.

nba-picks

NBA Free Picks and Predictions for games of 8th November 2013

Friday night in the NBA usually means one thing… a full schedule of games at your disposal to lay your money on. With odds constantly changing, I will give you my straight-up picks on all Friday night games, but be sure to get in on the betting line early to secure the best odds. Whether you like to play the points, over/under or straight-up… you can find it right here at Wonder Punter.

Brooklyn Nets (2-2) @ Washington Wizards (1-3) 11/08- 7:00PM EST

The Wizards look to win back-to-back games as they take on the Nets.

PICK: Brooklyn Nets

Cleveland Cavaliers (2-3) @ Philadelphia 76ers (3-2) 11/08- 7:00PM EST

The Sixers have now lost two in a row after being a Cinderella team for the first three games. Cavs coming off a big win vs. Minnesota

PICK: Cleveland

Boston Celtics (1-4) @ Orlando Magic (3-2) 11/08- 7:00PM EST

The Celtics got their first win against winless Utah, but the Magic just beat a good Clipper team on Wednesday night.

PICK: Orlando

New York Knicks (1-3) @ Charlotte Bobcats (3-2) 11/08- 7:00PM EST

Trouble in the Big Apple with their beloved Knicks… Charlotte is an early surprise. I like the odds of the Bobcats winning.

PICK: Charlotte

Toronto Raptors (2-3) @ Indiana Pacers (5-0) 11/08- 7:00PM EST

Clearly, the Pacers are the team to beat right now. Impressive win against the Bulls on Wednesday night.

PICK: Indiana

Oklahoma Thunder (3-1) @ Detroit Pistons (2-2) 11/08- 7:30PM EST

With PG Russell Westbrook back, expect the Thunder to start making a run. My bet is on OKC.

PICK: Oklahoma City

Los Angeles Lakers (2-3) @ New Orleans Pelicans (2-3) 11/08- 8:00PM EST

The Los Angeles Lakers will be playing the second of a back-to-back. Have to like the odds New Orleans winning plus they blew out Memphis on the road Wednesday night.

PICK: New Orleans

Utah Jazz (0-5) @ Chicago Bulls (1-3) 11/08- 8:00PM EST

Just what the underachieving Bulls needed, a winless Jazz team to come into town. Easy pick on this one.

PICK: Chicago

Dallas Mavericks (3-2) @ Minnesota Timberwolves (3-2) 11/08- 8:00PM EST

The Mavs will look to avoid two straight road losses after dropping one to Oklahoma City Wednesday night. Should be another tough battle for both teams, but see the T’Wolves as the favorite.

PICK: Minnesota

Golden State Warriors (4-1) @ San Antonio Spurs (4-1) 11/08- 8:30PM EST

All the oddsmakers have to be going crazy with this marquee matchup of two teams who are expected to light it up. Watch for the latest betting line here on Wonder Punter, but for a straight-up pick I like the Warriors on the road.

PICK: Golden State

Denver Nuggets (0-3) @ Phoenix Suns ( 3-2) 11/08- 9:00PM EST

With Phoenix coming off a tough road loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, I like the odds of keeping the visiting Denver Nuggets winless on the young season.

PICK: Phoenix

Sacramento Kings (1-3) @ Portland Trailblazers (2-2) 11/08- 10:00PM EST

Portland is always tough at home… safe pick with Trailblazers.

PICK: Portland

12 full games to chose from on a Friday night. Check the latest up to the minute betting lines here at Wonder Punter and good luck with your picks!

Vegas: Over-under on Sixers is 16.5 wins

LAS VEGAS – It is no secret issues determine to be dangerous this season for a Philadelphia 76ers crew doing little greater than masquerading as an NBA franchise.

Go away it to the oddsmakers on this playing city to show simply how unhealthy issues could be for a staff contending for nothing however the NBA’s subsequent prime draft decide.

Because the regular season ideas off, the over-below for 76ers victories is 16.5, the lowest of any team and the lowest total LVH sports guide oddsmaker Jeff Sherman can keep in mind putting up on any NBA crew previously decade or so.

Which means optimistic Philly fans (assuming there are any for a group with only a handful of reputable NBA players) can win in the event that they wager their workforce will win 17 times through the 82-game season.

Which means optimistic Philly fans (assuming there are any for a workforce with only a handful of reliable NBA players) can win if they wager their crew will win 17 times throughout the 82-game season. Conversely, those who assume the 76ers are even worse than they appear can cash in if the win complete is sixteen or fewer.

“They’ve pretty much made it identified in Philadelphia they’re attempting to get the No. 1 choose for Andrew Wiggins and not holding again,” Sherman stated. “Groups try for the draft pick typically late within the season, but they’re basically doing it the whole season.”

It will get even higher for true believers. They will get odds of 9,999-1 if they wish to wager at the LVH on the 76ers profitable the title.

“It was the very best quantity our computer systems would let us put in,” Sherman mentioned.

The 76ers aren’t alone in coveting Wiggins, who has scouts drooling even though he’s simply beginning his freshman season at Kansas. Things are pretty dismal within the desert, too, with the Phoenix Suns posted as the next-worst staff with an over-under complete of 19.5 wins.

Perhaps most shocking, although, is that oddsmakers have such little respect for the probabilities of the Los Angeles Lakers and their ageing and injury-susceptible forged of stars. They believe the Lakers will lose more than they win, with an over-below of 34.5 wins for the season.

“We have been writing a number of over money from the general public having a tough time believing the Lakers are going to be that bad,” Sherman said. “Now we have a different view when you look at how extreme Kobe’s injury is and the mileage of [Steve] Nash and [Pau] Gasol.”

Sherman, who groups with fellow oddsmaker Ed Salmons to put up the primary betting traces weeks before the season opens, has the defending champion Miami Heat favored again for many wins, though with an over-below of 60.5 he would not believe the Warmth will method final season’s win whole of 66.

“That was one of the easier ones and it was close to what we had last year,” he stated. “They gained greater than that last 12 months, but that included a 27-sport profitable streak that we do not anticipate to be repeated.”

Miami is also favored at 2-1 to win one other NBA title, adopted by the Oklahoma Metropolis Thunder at 9-2, the Chicago Bulls at 6-1 and the San Antonio Spurs at 8-1.

Wonder Punter NBA Power Rankings 2013-14

Wonder Punter NBA Power Rankings 2013-14

With the 2013/14 NBA season upon us starting Tuesday night…. Let’s take a look at the Power Rankings of all 30 teams to begin the season.

1. Miami Heat- The defending champion Heat will be looking to three-peat with Lebron James in the final year of his contract.

2. San Antonio Spurs- With all the pieces still intact, the Western Conference champs are still the team to beat out west.

3. Chicago Bulls- After sitting out all of last season… Derrick Rose is back and ready to lead his team to challenge the Heat.

4. Indiana Pacers- Last years team was good, now with Danny Granger back and the addition of Luis Scola… they will be even better.

5. Los Angeles Clippers- Can new coach Doc Rivers instill the mental and physical toughness that has been lacking with the Clippers in seasons past?

6. Houston Rockets- Can the tag team of Dwight Howard/James Harden co-exist and get them to the promise land?

7. Golden State Warriors- Will one more year of experience under their belt make up for the lack of depth at the point guard and center positions? Key addition with Andre Iguodala.

8. Oklahoma City Thunder- Still no Russell Westbrook until December… until then, can they keep it together?

9. Memphis Grizzles- The addition of Mike Miller should help with a team depleted with shooters.

10. Brooklyn Nets- Can an aging Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce be the difference that Deron Williams and new coach Jason Kidd need to contend?
