NCAA prediction and Free Pick Sooners vs. Crimson tide Sugar Bowl 2014

#11 Oklahoma Sooners (10-2) vs. #3 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) 01/02- 8:30PM EST

Line: ALA -15.5

Over/Under: 51.5

Now that the No. 3 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide know that coach Nick Saban will not be leaving for the vacant Texas head coaching job, they can now focus their attention on the Oklahoma Sooners in this years Sugar Bowl on Thursday night.

Just how focus will they be remains to be seen though after a stunning last second loss to now No. 2 Auburn Tigers back in their regular-season finale, who will be playing in next weeks BCS National Championship at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

It was that loss that prevented the Tide (11-1) from playing for a third-straight BCS national title and fourth in five years, but the good news is, Saban is staying at the University of Alabama and says he plans to retire in Tuscaloosa after agreeing to a contract extension back on December 13 that will pay him a reported $7 million a year.

There were talks around college football that Saban would leave to take the vacant Texas job, which is in the market for a high-profile coach following the resignation of Mack Brown.

I don’t have any more reactions to it. I think it’s kind of over so why do we want to talk about that?” Saban said.

While most programs consider their season a success playing in the Sugar Bowl, Alabama still has to be stinging from that bitter defeat back on Nov. 30 to Auburn in which they gave up 13 points in the final 32 seconds at Auburn which was capped off by Chris Davis 100-yard return on Adam Griffith’s missed 57-yard field goal attempt.

We’re fired up playing Oklahoma,” defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan said. “It’s not for a national championship or anything, but we’re going to go into it like it is.

We’re going to try to finish this season as strong as possible.”

The Crimson Tide do not want to let the Auburn loss affect their Sugar Bowl performance similar to the 2008 season when they were knocked out of the BCS title game and loss to Utah 31-17 in the Sugar Bowl.

(Saban told us) we shouldn’t let this loss bring us down to the point where we just keep hang-dogging and keep our heads down going into the game and lose (the Sugar Bowl), too,” left tackle Cyrus Kouandijo said.

Oklahoma (10-2) will be making their first trip back to the Sugar Bowl since 2004, when they lost to Saban’s LSU team that earned a split for the national title.

Alabama senior quarterback AJ McCarron will be playing in his final college game, won the Maxwell Award and finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up this year to Jameis Winston.

McCarron threw for 20 touchdowns with just two interceptions after September.

I think AJ McCarron is the best player in the country, I really do,” Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Dec. 8. “If I had a vote, that’s who I’d vote for.”

And while McCarron has been solid calling the signals for the Tide, Oklahoma still has no idea who will be taking the snaps on Thursday night as quarterbacks Trevor Knight, Blake Bell and Kendal Thompson are all fighting for the starting job. Coach Stoops said his starter for the Sugar Bowl will be a “game-time decision.”

Knight began the season as the starter but got injured in the second game and Bell took over for the next seven games where he played well but not great. Bell then got hurt back in Nov. 16 and watched Knight led the team to victory at Kansas State 41-31.

All three QB’s saw playing time in a 33-24 victory at Oklahoma State that put the Sooners in the Sugar Bowl, but it was Bell who threw a touchdown pass to Jalen Saunders with 19 seconds left that provided the game winner.

I’m sure he’s extremely confident right now and he should be,” Oklahoma Sooner center Gabe Ikard said. “To come in and do that on the last drive was impressive and really made our season.”

Regardless of who Stoops appoints as the starter, they will have their hands full against a Crimson Tide defense that is ranked fifth in the nation overall and second-ranked in scoring defense with 11.3 points per game. They are also fifth against the pass with 166.3 yards per game and 11th versus the run with 108.3 yards per game.

It’s Alabama’s strong defense coupled with their offense that oddsmakers have made the Tide a huge (minus -15.5) point favorite, but get the latest odds up until kickoff right here at Wonder Punter.

Oklahoma lost last year in the Cotton Bowl 41-13 to Texas A&M to end their three-game bowl winning streak and will need to find an answer in containing the receiving corps of the Tide, which is led by sophomore standout Amari Cooper. Running back T.J. Yeldon ran for 1,163 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Too many weapons for Alabama on both sides of the ball and although I expect an exciting game, I predict the Crimson Tide taking this year’s Sugar Bowl.

We’re going to have to attack, just like we did before. It’s no mystery,” Sooners linebacker Eric Striker said. “Everyone know this is the best team, even though they did lose. Even though they lost. I don’t see it.

I think they are still on of the best teams. It is a great opportunity for us to show what we can do.”

NCAA Prediction Rose Bowl Game Preview/Pick- #5 Stanford vs. #4 Michigan State

NCAA Prediction and Free Pick Cardinals vs Spartans

#5 Stanford Cardinal (11-2) vs. #4 Michigan State Spartans (12-1) 01/01- 5:00PM EST

ROSE BOWL- Pasadena, CA

Line: STAN -6.5

For the first time in 26 years, the #4 Michigan State Spartans will playing in the historic Rose Bowl game on New Year’s Day against the #5 Stanford Cardinal in what is expected to be a great game in the 100th edition of the Granddaddy of Them All.

The Spartans (12-) find themselves in the Rose Bowl versus the defending champions after beating then-No. 2 Ohio State 34-24 in the Big Ten championship game back on December 7, which was their first outright title since 1987. That was the last time they made a Rose Bowl appearance and went on to beat USC.

This will be the Spartans first BCS bowl appearance and coach Mark Dantonio knows it will be special.

It’s going to be a special moment when we walk out on that field,” Dantonio said.

Led by coach David Shaw, the Cardinal (11-2) have tasted a BCS bowl in each of his three seasons since taking over for Jim Harbaugh in 2011 and won their first Rose Bowl in 40 years when they beat Wisconsin 20-14 last season.

Shaw wants his players to treat Wednesday’s game as a new experience as if they’ve never been there before.

Our guys have fond memories of it, but they’ve already started to say it: Last year was last year, and we have to prepare this year completely different,’” Shaw said. “Michigan State has been on a phenomenal run, tough competition, and come to play every week. We know it’s going to be a great game.”

The No. 4 ranking of the Spartans has been their highest since the 1967 season, have won nine consecutive games since suffering their only loss to Notre Dame back on Sept. 21 and claim the nation’s best defense with 248.2 yards per game, including an FBS-low 80.8 on the ground.

Michigan State’s defense is led by senior first-team All-American Darqueze Dennard, who won the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back and sophomore end Shilique Calhoun, who was honored as the Big Ten’s top defensive lineman. But, they will be without a key member of their great defense in the likes of two-time team captain Max Bullough, who was suspended last Wednesday for violating team rules.

It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved,” Dantonio said.

Dantonio has also been rumored for the Texas head coaching position, which he quickly dispelled.

I see Michigan State as the destination, not a stop,” he said. “It’s flattering, but that’s the way I see it.”

Shaw, due to his success at Stanford, has been rumored for the many potential NFL openings, but also says he is committed to staying at his alma mater.

No matter what I say, the rumors aren’t going to stop,” Shaw said. “It doesn’t bother me. Every good football program in the last 15 years, after two good years, the head coach is going to be rumored to go someplace else. I take it as a compliment.”

Stanford played their way into the Rose Bowl with a 38-14 win over then-No. 11 Arizona State in the Pac-12 title game back on Dec. 7, but may have been in the BCS title game also at the Rose Bowl if it weren’t for two let down games in which they lost to unranked opponents.

They lost at Utah 27-21 on Oct. 12 and at USC 20-17 on November 16, but bounced back to perform great the following week.

I look forward to a great battle on the line of scrimmage as the Cardinal game that is averaging 234.2 yards a game on the ground and led by Tyler Gaffney who is averaging 144.5 yards over his last eight games will go up against the Spartans great defense. Kevin Hogan will try to keep the Michigan State defense off balance with an air attack as well.

This team, they’re so wily as veterans,” Shaw said. “We’re going to be challenged by a team that finds a way to win, whether it’s run or throw. They’ll do whatever it takes to try to win a football game.”

Michigan State will counter with sophomore quarterback Conner Cook and junior running back Jeremy Langford, who is averaging 128.4 yards over his last eight games.

The Spartans are not as strong on offense as the Cardinal and with oddsmakers having confidence Stanford can move the ball, they have made them a (minus -6.5) point favorite, but get the latest spread on the game up until kickoff right here at Wonder Punter.

I’m really looking forward to this game and don’t have a clear-cut favorite, but with Stanford being able to get it done on both sides of the ball, I will give them the slight edge and predict the Cardinal winning their second consecutive Rose Bowl game.

NCAA Prediction Bowl Game Preview/Pick- #24 Duke vs. #21 Texas A&M

blue devils

#24 Duke Blue Devils (10-3) vs. #21 Texas A&M Aggies (8-4) 12/31- 8:00PM EST

Line: TA&M -11.5

Over/Under- 75.0

In what is expected to be his final collegiate game, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel will lead his #21 Aggies against this year’s surprise team, the #24 Duke Blue Devils in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

The Blue Devils (10-3) will have yet another daunting task of trying to stop a great quarterback. In their ACC title game against No. 1 Florida State, they had this year’s Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston to contend with and lost the battle and game 45-7.

Now it’s Manziel who will provide another test.

When we found out our matchup, we were all pumped about it because it’s awesome to play against a guy that exciting and an offense that good,” Duke linebacker Kelby Brown said. “It’s a chance to make a statement for ourselves, and it’s just fun. It’s the nature of a competitor.”

Having already faced Winston, the Blue Devils can’t really take anything from that game to use against Manziel because they have different styles and run different offenses.

Duke linebacker David Helton, who led the ACC with 122 tackles says Winston and Manziel are “two different quarterbacks.”

Winston “is definitely a scrambler as well, but he’s not as much as a scrambler as Manziel is,” he added. “Manziel is built on scrambling. … He likes to sit back there and kind of make magic happen, whereas Winston is more a bigger guy and he likes to sit in the pocket a little more than Manziel does. Different mindsets for both of them.”

Manziel is expected to enter the NFL draft in April, but the redshirt freshman hasn’t reveled his plans.

I’m not going to reflect on that until it is his last day,” Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said. “All I can tell you is what he has done for the university up to this point (is) well-documented. His numbers speak for themselves. He is without a doubt the most exciting player in America.”

Manziel was the first freshman to take home the Heisman last year, but this season came in fifth in the voting. He has been mostly unavailable for the media this year to avoid any distractions to his team.

Most thought Texas A&M (8-4) will contend for a national title, but went 0-4 against ranked opponents and are coming off back-to-back losses to LSU and Missouri.

If we can win this game, it’ll be the first time in the history of this program we’ve won three bowl games in a row,” Sumlin said.

Duke has had great year, setting a school record for wins, beat two Top 25 opponents, won their first Coastal Division title in the ACC and actually shut out Florida State for the first quarter before the Seminoles ran away with it.

Once you play against the best and you play against somebody else, you can look at it and say, ‘OK, we played against the best, so what (else) is there out there?” freshman cornerback DeVon Edwards said. “If we do good against them, we should do good against anybody.”

The Blue Devils are led by Anthony Boone, who lost his first career game as a starter in the ACC title game, and says trying to outplay Manziel “doesn’t win football games.

Guys like that are going to put up numbers. To try to go out there and compete with them is where I’ll try to do too much and mistakes will happen,” Boone said.

Boone had three turnovers against the Seminoles and a repeat performance will not bode well for their chances against the Aggies who can put points up behind Manziel, as the oddsmakers have made them a big (minus -11.5) point favorite on Tuesday night, but get the latest lines on the game up until kickoff right here at Wonder Punter.

The Blue Devils will be without their rushing leader Jela Duncan (562 yards), who was suspended for an undisclosed violation of its academic policy.

Texas A&M suspended standout freshman linebacker Darian Claiborne who is tied for the team lead with 89 tackles. He was arrested Sunday on two drug possession charges.

Duke will have a chip on their shoulder to prove to the critics they can play with the big boys, but Texas A&M has too many weapons to stay with and I predict the Aggies capturing their third straight bowl game and Manziel going out a winner.

ncaa picks prediction

#20 Fresno State Bulldogs (11-1) vs. #25 USC Trojans (9-4) 12/21- 3:30PM EST

Line: USC -6.5

Over/Under: 62

The USC Trojans, in an up and down season will go into the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday against a Fresno State Bulldogs team that fell short of a potential BCS bid.

The Trojans season consisted of the firing of Lane Kiffin, then the promotion of Ed Orgeron to interim head coach, which many thought he would be named the new head coach, but losses to Notre Dame and UCLA sealed his fate and USC named former assistant and now former Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian as their new head coach.

Orgeron guided the Trojans (9-4) to winning six out its first seven games after the Kiffin firing back on September 28th, but when athletic director Pat Haden stole Sarkisian away from the Washington Huskies and gave him the head coaching title, Orgeron resigned immediately due to disappointment to pursue other head coaching interests.

USC offensive coordinator Clay Helton will coach the Trojans on Saturday, and will be the third acting coach for the Trojans this season.

However, USC believes they found the right coach in Sarkisian to lead the Trojans proud football program into the national spotlight once again.

Sarkisian spoke on his future goals with the Trojans…

Rebuilding is not a word around here. Coach O proved that,” Sarkisian said. “I understand it stings right now. Over time it will get better. I’m going to be real with those guys, and they’ll be real with me.”

The Trojans will be faced and focused on slowing down a Fresno State offense that is led by senior quarterback David Carr. The Bulldogs rank first in passing with 409.8 yards per game, third in total offense with 570.6 and fifth in scoring with 43.5 points per contest.

Fresno State (11-1) won the inaugural Mountain West Conference title game back on December 7th when they beat the Utah State 24-17, but fell short of the bigger prize, a potential BCS bowl bid, when they lost to San Jose State 62-52.

Coach Tim DeRuyter was pleased how his team bounced back to win the MWC championship following that disappointing loss.

If your only goal is to go to the BCS, why show up and play?” DeRuyter said.

USC is well aware of the passing attack the Bulldogs possess with receivers Davante Adams, who leads the nation with 122 catches and 23 touchdowns and is second with 1,645 yards receiving. Josh Harper has 79 catches for 1,011 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Isaiah Bruce chipped in with 94 receptions for 987 yards with five TDs.

Fresno State will contend with a Trojans defense that ranks 16th in the country allowing just 341.5 yards per game and was first in the Pac-12 conference giving up only 214.5 yards passing.

USC will be without their top running back Silas Redd because of a knee injury and star receiver Marqise Lee had a down year because of injuries, but the oddsmakers have still made the Trojans a big (minus -6.5) point favorite on Saturday. Wonder Punter can provide you with the latest spread on the game up until kick off.

Fresno State has lost four straight bowl games and I predict the Trojans will do enough to contain the Bulldogs offense and leave Las Vegas with a championship to end the season on a positive note.

NCAA Free Pick and Prediction Bowl Game

Washington State Cougars (6-6) vs. Colorado State Rams (7-6) 12/21- 2:00PM EST

Line: WASH ST: -4.5

Over/Under: 65

The Washington State Cougars and Colorado State Rams will kickoff the bowl season on Saturday with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl and both teams are excited about getting into a bowl game and turning their football programs around.

Colorado State coach Jim McElwain and Washington State coach Mike Leach, both in their second-year agree that the bowl matchup is a sign of things changing for both struggling programs, where the Rams (7-6) haven’t been to a bowl game since 2008 and for the Cougars (6-6), it’s been a decade since they tasted the postseason.

One of the accomplishments you want early is to get in a bowl game and be part of that club,” McElwain told reporters. “There’s a certain aura that comes with being a bowl team.”

McElwain was the offensive coordinator with Alabama during the Crimson Tide’s BCS national championships in 2009 and 2011, and knows the importance of a bowl appearance for a program when it comes to recruiting.

Coach Leach says his players are made up of largely of freshman and sophomores, but knows his seniors have been through “rough dry times” and haven’t had the opportunity to play in a bowl game. “They’ve never been in a bowl and (had) hoped they would,” Leach said. “Talking about it and actually doing it are two different things.”

Players to watch for the Rams will be running back Kapri Bibbs, who leads all of college football with 28 rushing touchdowns with 1,572 yards on the ground and quarterback Garrett Grayson, who ranks among the nation’s top 20 in passing yards (3,3270). The Rams set a school record with four games scoring 50 or more points and is the only school to have a 3,000 yard passer and 1,500 yard runner in a single season this year.

For the Cougars, they are led by junior quarterback Conner Halliday who operates the spread offense and is ranked fourth nationally in passing yards (4,187) and with 28 touchdowns, is tied for 13th.

Let’s not forget, this is this same Washington State Cougars that played the Auburn Tigers in their first game of the season in which they lost in a heartbreaker 31-24.

We should have won that game,” Leach said.

The Cougars like their chances going in on Saturday and feel they were battle tested all year having played four opponents that appear in the top 16 of the BCS standings and so do the oddsmakers who have made them the early (minus -4.5) point favorite. Get the latest spread on the game up until kickoff right here at Wonder Punter.

Expect both teams to showcase their high-powered offense come Saturday and McElwain says his defense will have to be ready.

I know they throw the heck out of it,” McElwain said. “I know (Leach) isn’t afraid to throw it and he’ll probably throw it coming off the bus.”

I too, like the battle tested Cougars and predict a high scoring affair with the Cougars taking home the trophy.

NCAA Prediction Week 14 College Football Game Preview/Pick- #1 Alabama vs. #4 Auburn

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-0) @ #4 Auburn Tigers (10-1) 11/30- 3:30PM EST

Line: ALA -10.5

Over/Under: 55.0

With the biggest game of the year or perhaps ever for this in-state rivalry for both No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Auburn set for Saturday afternoon, both teams are treating this SEC showdown as “any other game.” Don’t tell the fans in hundreds of RVs who are already parked down the way from Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium a week before both teams get ready to battle that it’s “just other game.”

The let’s not give them any billboard material game is well underway between both teams…

Quarterback A.J. McCarron of Alabama says the Tigers are merely “the next team in our way,” regardless of their record.

Auburn’s H-back Jay Prosch says Iron Bowl preparation has been business as usual.

Between Alabama and Auburn, they have been the winners of the last four national championships and these teams are in a position to make a return appearance once more.

Saturday’s potential classic in the making will mark the first time these two teams have met since both being ranked in the top five since 1971 when Bama was No. 3 and the Tigers No. 5 which saw the Tide roll over Auburn 31-7.

Alabama (11-0, 7-0) controls their own destiny in pursuit of their third straight BCS title, whereas the Auburn Tigers (10-1, 6-1) will need No. 2 Florida State or No. 3 Ohio State to lose, if they can pull off a victory on Saturday.

However, the Iron Bowl winner was still need to get past either No. 5 Missouri or No. 10 South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference championship game. Tough road for all teams involved.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has his team focused to capture their third consecutive national title and fourth in five years with a one game at a time approach.

AJ McCarron echoed his coaches sentiments about their approach to each and every game.

I really don’t care what their record his,” he said. “They’re still the next team in our way trying to take what we worked for.”

Prosch agreed…. “It feels like we’ve been preparing for every other team, not really anything different,” he said. “We all know it’s a huge game and we’re going to play our hearts out, preparing like we normally do.”

Players who are recruited by either school quickly learn what it means to play in the Iron Bowl and to be part of something special.

Auburn tight end C.J. Uzomah had this to say about the rivalry…

You step on the campus and that’s the first thing you hear,” Uzomah said. “You get recruited and that’s the focal point that can define the season, like it is this upcoming season.”

The students, the fans, the RVs, the hype… “This is going to be huge.

It’s going to be the most unbelievable atmosphere I’ve ever gotten to play in,” he said.

It’s been a somewhat special season for the Tigers who put themselves in this position by a miraculous “Hail-Mary” last minute win over Georgia 43-38 back on November 16.

With early opening lines giving the Tide a (minus) -10.5 point favorite over Auburn on the road, oddsmakers believe it’s going to take more then a miracle for the Auburn Tigers to beat the Crimson Tide, but get all the updated lines for the game here at Wonder Punter up until kickoff.

Coach Saban is a master at keeping his teams poised and focused for the next task at hand and following the Chattanooga game last Saturday said this…

Our focus obviously needs to immediately shift to the opportunities that we have created for ourselves and the games that we have in the future,” Saban said. “Obviously the one that we have this week coming up against Auburn is a very important game. They have a great team. They’ve had a great season.

It’s going to be important for everybody in our organization to make a commitment to doing their very best job to play their best football, because that’s probably what’s it going to take to have success against a very good team.”

Alabama had Iron Bowl victories in 2012 and 2011. The Tigers last victory over Bama was in their national championship year in 2010 when Cam Newton rallied the Tigers to victory 28-27.

Both teams have a well balanced offensive attack with strong running games—Bama with sophomore T.J. Yeldon with 164 rushes for 1022 yards and 12 touchdowns and the Tigers with junior Tre Mason with 208 carries for 1153 yards with 17 touchdowns.

It’s the defensive side of the ball for Alabama that is impressive, where their stingy defense has allowed only 9.3 points per contest.

It’s going to be a good one and may be closer then the spread indicates, but in the end… Alabama will prevail.

It’s definitely good because when you have something to play for, you just have a lot of motivation to play your best,” Tide receiver Kevin Norwood said. “ And we know they are going to play their best.”

Alabama to me is just a well coached and well disciplined football team. And let’s not forget how great of a quarterback A.J. McCarron is. He doesn’t get all the Heisman Trophy hype like most of the QBs in the nation get because he doesn’t put up the outrageous numbers…. all he does is win football games and national championships. McCarron is 190 of 277 with 2,399 yards passing with 23 touchdowns.

Jordan Lynch has never lost a home game as a starter at Northern Illinois, and he’s not expected to lose one on Tuesday night based on Western Michigan’s struggles under first-year coach and former NIU receiver P.J. Fleck.

The No. 14 Huskies will be set to continue their Mid-American Conference dominance, stay undefeated and extend the nation’s longest home winning streak to 26 games against the lowly Broncos.

Jordan Lynch has also been in the Heisman Trophy talks for the second straight season, where he improved to 23-2 as a starter after throwing for 202 yards and running for 161 with three second-half touchdowns during last Wednesday’s 35-17 win at Toledo.

With the win, NIU (11-0, 7-0) clinched its fourth straight MAC West Division title by extending an FBS-best league winning streak to 24 games. NIU is one of five unbeaten schools and have kept alive their hopes of busting the BCS for a second straight year.

The Huskies have moved up two spots and ahead of Fresno State in the latest BCS standings and up to No. 14 as the Huskies and Bulldogs jockey to be the last BCS buster.

NIU and Fresno State are fighting for one automatic bid. They have to finish in the top 12 of the last BCS standings, which comes out December 8, or finish in the top 16 while ranking ahead of an automatic qualifying-conference champion.

Despite all the success, NIU coach Rod Carey wants his players to understand the significance of their next challenge and that is Tuesday night’s game against Western Michigan.

It’ll be a big day all around from every aspect and every angle that you can think about,” he said. “This is the only game we’ve got. It’s right here, right now.”

With 45 victories, the Huskie seniors are the winningest class in school history.

Lynch has made a strong case as a Heisman Trophy hopeful ranking seventh in the FBS with 1,434 yards rushing and has averaged 163.6 while scoring 13 touchdowns on the ground in the last five games.

He’s pretty decisive,” said Carey. “When he’s running and making plays, that’s just him.”

Huskies’ junior Cameron Stingily needs just 42 yards to join Lynch as the first two players in NIU history to rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.

It would mean a lot,” Stingily said. “Now that I have the opportunity, I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

Last year, the Huskies defeated Western Michigan (1-10, 1-6) 48-34 on the road and having outscored the Broncos 165-80 during a four-game series winning streak… so it’s easy to see why the oddsmakers have made NIU a (minus) -36.0 point favorite at home. Continue to check the spread here through Wonder Punter as the odds are always changing as we get closer to kickoff.

Expect the Broncos to play lose with nothing to loss and just have fun. P.J. Fleck will be making his first return to his alma mater where he played for a 10-2 NIU team.

It’s going to be interesting because I’ve never been on the other side,” Fleck said of his return. “I’m excited, but we’re going in there with one thing on our mind and that’s to win the football game.”

With the Broncos ranking near the bottom of the MAC allowing 35.6 points per game, and NIU averaging 43.7 points per contest, the challenge and chances of Western Michigan pulling off an upset are slim.

It’s a wonderful challenge for our young men,” Fleck said. “I know a lot of those (NIU players) personally. I recruited a lot of them.

It’s not a secret (what the Huskies do). They just do it effectively. We’re going to go out and try to stop them.”

No reason to think the Huskies will have a let down Tuesday night with the chance to earn a BCS berth… so look for them to put a hurting on the Broncos.

After missing the last four games due to right shoulder injury, Missouri quarterback James Franklin is returning to the starting lineup as the Tigers prepare for a final push toward an Southeastern Conference championship game.

With the season coming to an end, the No. 8 ranked Tigers (9-1, 5-1 SEC) will need to get past two ranked teams to make it to Atlanta, starting with a visit to No. 24 Ole Miss on Saturday night, then a regular season ending home game against No. 9 Texas A&M on Nov. 30.

Franklin will take over the play calling duties once again replacing freshman Maty Mauk who went 3-1 as the Tigers starter and has kept Missouri atop the SEC East.

The senior Franklin threw for 1,577 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions before his injury against Georgia on October 12 saw limited action last week against Kentucky is ready to lead his team to action.

He looks really good. He looks just like he left off before his injury,” Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said. “He’s excited about being back, and the team is excited about getting him back too. I obviously want him to do really well. He had some adversity and battled through it and we are excited to have him in.”

Ole Miss (7-3, 3-3) is riding a four-game win streak while averaging 42.8 yards per game and topping 500 yards in each of those, but those schools had a combined 9-22 record so the Tigers will be a more challenging team for the Rebels.

Ole Miss has played well against the top teams in the SEC losing by a combined 11 points to Auburn and Texas A&M, and a 25-0 defeat to top ranked Alabama on September 28.

With the schedule we have played, looking back on it, we have had our share of tests, and this will be another one Saturday night,” coach Hugh Freeze told the school’s official website.

With the spread making the Tigers a slight favorite at (minus) -2.5 on the road, they are expecting the Rebels to be primed and ready for an upset, so be sure be sure to check the latest lines leading up until kick off here at Wonder Punter.

The Rebels will have running back Jeff Scott back to full health for Saturday’s game after missing three games with a deep thigh bruise.

Scott and the Rebels will be facing the SEC’s second-best rushing defense, allowing only 111.9 yards per game on the ground. The Tigers, however rank last against the pass, giving up 274.9 per game, which is good news for Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace, fourth in the league with 266.4 passing yards per game. The Tigers do lead the SEC with 34 sacks and 17 interceptions.

Very few people have been able to line up and just run the ball effectively (on Missouri). They get you one dimensional,” Freeze said. “Those ends are quick and cause problems in the backfield.”

I’ve like the way the Tigers have been playing all year and predict a big road victory for Missouri to keep their SEC East title hopes alive.

NCAA Prediction and Free pick Clemson vs Citadel

I flipped a coin on the CUSA representative who will play  within the  heart of Dallas Bowl. East Carolina will beat North Carolina State however lose to Marshall, and each of the other teams win out. Marshall goes to the  Bowl on proximity. North Texas is close to each Dallas and Fort Worth, every home to a CUSA tie-in. East Carolina goes to Hawaii as a result of screw this I’ve put in an excessive amount of thought already. Rice goes to whichever of Dallas and Ft. Price I haven’t already picked. That work for everybody? Cool.

The Clemson Tigers heading into Saturday night’s match-up having a two loss season and also going 6-2 within the ACC conference. The Tigers had received eight straight video games but fell on the road to Georgia Tech 17-31 on October twenty ninth before having another road loss to North Carolina State last week. Clemson simply couldn’t get any momentum going scoring just one touchdown within the 13-37 loss. Bookmakers had truly listed the Tigers as 6.5-point road favorites in NCAA football picks but the squad lost outright to fall to 7-four ATS on the season.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have also lost two games this yr falling to Auburn and Arkansas but have a two sport profitable streak heading into tonight’s game after defeating Florida and the Citadel last week. Head coach Steve Spurrier’s workforce easily handled the Bulldogs final Saturday in a forty one-20 win but couldn’t cover the spread as 39-point favorites in college football picks to go 5-6 ATS on the season. Sophomore QB Conner Shaw threw sixteen/18 for 217-yards with three TD’s and 1-interception in the win vs the Citadel whereas Freshman RB Brandon Wilds had 109-yards on 20-carries adding two more touchdowns.

I hate to be the one who breaks this to you, however she’s a Buckeye fan. She’s not salvageable. But for the sake of denial, let’s fake she can be saved. Take a trip to The Grotto (soften the center out of the gate) adopted by a raging tailgate the place she will bond with Irish followers over a mutual hatred of Michigan. Finding issues you have in widespread breaks down obstacles. My boys and I will be underneath the large “Yard Sale” flag next to Legends with all of the Michigan hate in the world to share along with her should you want a hand.

So when did the game finally evolve into the coast-to-coast, smash-mouth, huge-cash competitors of now? In all probability not actually until the nineteen sixties. But by 1920, the makings of contemporary school football had at the least climbed out of the primordial ooze as one thing fans in 2008 might simply recognize. The United States’ transportation infrastructure in 1920 had advanced such that cross-country football meetings (though not almost as frequent as today) were not solely doable, but were becoming frequent. The 1902 Match East-West football game between Michigan and Stanford was an early precursor to both bowl video games and actually cross-country competitors.

Saturday night’s prime time matchup between the No. 4 Baylor Bears and No. 10 Oklahoma State Cowboys has all the makings of a Big 12 classic and Baylor coach Art Briles agrees as his undefeated Bears will be facing a Cowboy’s team (preseason Big 12 favorite) that has won six straight to get back into the title chase.

It doesn’t matter whatever team that Oklahoma State was playing this week or Baylor was playing this week,” Briles said. “It was going to be a big game because of what they’ve done up through the season and what we’ve done up through this season. It just happens to be we’re playing.”

The Baylor Bears (9-0, 6-0) will bring a potent offense into Stillwater on Saturday night where the offense is on pace to set a major college record at 61 points and 685 yards a game. They also have a school-best 13-game winning streak and with a No. 4 BCS ranking are right in the BCS championship talks.

We’ve got our work cut out for us this week, playing the best team in league,” Cowboys coach Mike Gundy said. “Baylor’s pretty much had their way with everybody they’ve played this year, I think everybody would agree with that. They’re very deserving of being ranked third or fourth in the country. A lot credit goes to them, so it should be a lot of fun Saturday night.”

Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty has his own take on the game…

It’s huge. That mentality trickles down to us. You can’t make any game bigger than any of the other’s,” Petty said. “You have to treat each game as it’s a one-game season, as it’s just a normal day. So that kind of confidence is what makes us play at such a high level.”

Baylor has not won an outright title since 1980 when it was in the Southwest Conference, but to do it this year they must face a pair of potential title-deciding games in the last three weeks.

Oklahoma State (9-1, 6-1) is on fire of their own, and is coming off a 38-13 win at Texas, the only other team that was undefeated in the Big 12.

I don’t think it’s any pressure or nervousness, a lot guys have been through this before the last two years, playing in big games,” Cowboys senior offensive lineman Parker Graham said. “I’m just really excited for it.”

Since the Cowboys last loss at West Virginia on September 28 and inserting senior Clint Chelf at quarterback and giving junior Desmond Roland the primary running back duties… they have improved every week.

The spread has the Baylor Bears at (minus) -10.0 points favorites going into a Stadium they haven’t won since 1939! And with an over/under set at 78.0.. points will be flying, so be sure to check the latest lines up until kick-off here at Wonder Punter.

You’ve got to embrace it, you really do,” Petty said. “You’re there for a reason. The Big 12 is what we want. I think it’s OK to take that for what is and be excited about it.”

Baylor hope to have their top two running backs ready for Saturday night… Lache Seastrunk (groin) and Glasco Martin (knee) for what they feel will be a hostile environment come game time.

Get upto $1000 betting bonus on this game

We’ve been in some pretty good atmospheres so far this year, and we feel like Stillwater’s going to fall right in line with some of the things that we’ve lived through,” Briles said. “Without question, the guys have been on a big stage, and we feel like it’s going to be one this week in Stillwater, and we feel like our players have earned it.”

Expect a good one. I’m still not sold on the Bears being that big of a favorite but it’s hard to argue with what they’ve done this year so far.

NCAA Prediction Week 12 College Football Game Preview & Pick- #25 Georgia vs. #7 Auburn

NCAA Football Prediction Georgia Bulldogs vs Auburn tigers game

#25 Georgia Bulldogs (6-3) @ #7 Auburn Tigers (6-3) 11/16- 3:30PM EST

Line: AUB -3.0

Over/Under: 63.5

What a difference a year makes when in 2012, the now No. 7 Auburn Tigers went winless in the Southeastern Conference and in 2013 are looking to keep pace in the BCS standings as they get set to host a Georgia Bulldogs team that has beaten them the last two meetings by a combined score of 83-7.

Payback is definitely on the minds of the Tigers when then No. 5 Georgia went into Jordan-Hare Stadium and shutout Auburn 38-0.

This year, the Bulldogs are ranked No. 25 and looking for similar results.

From a personal standpoint, I have yet to beat Georgia,” junior defensive tackle Gabe Wright said. “There are a lot of guys who have yet to Georgia. Guys are more focused and locked in.”

It’s been all Georgia as of late where they have won six of seven in the series, except Auburn’s championship year of 2010.

This year’s Auburn’s team at 9-1 (5-1 SEC) is liking their chances once again now that they are back to winning after last year’s 3-9 mark.

The teachers’ attitudes are better. The bus drivers’ attitudes are better,” Wright said. “I guess what I am trying to get at is that everybody’s attitude is better. There’s not much bad that can come from winning. It’s a new day here. We’re blessed to be at this point. We just can’t wait for the next opportunity.”

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall played as a defensive back for Georgia in 2011 before transferring to a junior college and ending up at Auburn this year has their starting QB.

He’s familiar with them, there’s no doubt,” Tigers coach Gus Malzahn said. “But if he holds true to past experience this year, he doesn’t get too high or too low. Not much really rattles him. He stays pretty calm no matter what the moment.”

Marshall leads all SEC quarterbacks with 734 yards rushing while averaging just 17.7 passing attempts per game in Auburn’s zone-read offense.

Auburn has 33 rushing touchdowns this year so far… good for third in the country behind Oregon and Auburn and their 320.0 rushing yards per game is third best in the country.

For Georgia (6-2, 4-2 SEC), they were flirting with BCS championship talks earlier in the season but suffered some tough losses and lost some steam.

The Bulldogs are lead by Aaron Murray who is 174 of 275 for 2477 yards passing and 20 touchdowns but leading receiver Chris Conley (sprained ankle) and tight end Arthur Lynch (ribs) are questionable but Georgia coach Mark Richt believes they have a shot to play on Saturday.

Auburn’s powerful running game has made them the odds-on favorite going in with a slight (minus) -3.0 at home, but be sure to check the betting lines often here at Wonder Punter and secure your bet(s) before kickoff for free.

I too have the Tigers as my pick with what they bring in the running department and the Bulldogs better be ready.

It’s going to be hard to keep them from reducing the yardage on third down and having that run-pass threat on third down,” Richt said.

That’s the part of the reason why they’re so successful—they have very few third-and-long situations unless there’s a penalty. … It really doesn’t matter what we did in the past. It matters what we do Saturday, and hopefully we’ll get them on the ground.”

Expect another great SEC battle on Saturday afternoon.

PICK: Auburn Tigers

By Mario Martinez- Wonder Punter

NCAA Prediction College Football Week 12 Preview/Pick- #12 Oklahoma St. vs. #24 Texas

Free Pick and Prediction for the Oklahoma St Cowboys vs Texas Longhorns

#12 Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-1) @ #24 Texas Longhorns (7-2) 11/16- 3:30 PM EST

Line: OKST -3.0

Over/Under: 63.5

With a possible Big 12 championship at stake on Saturday afternoon, the high-riding No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys will travel into Austin and take on a Texas Longhorn team riddled by injuries and holding onto first place by one-half game over No. 4 Baylor and one ahead of the Cowboys.

Texas (7-2, 6-0) in last week’s win at West Virginia 47-40 in overtime suffered two major injuries… running back Jonathan Gray (torn Achilles tendon) and defensive tackle Chris Whaley (left knee), both out for the season. They also lost Jordan Hicks (torn ACL) and quarterback David Ash (concussion) earlier in the year as well.

Malcolm Brown will likely get the bulk of running the ball with Gray out and will go against a Cowboy’s defense that is down against the run allowing 150.0 yards per game during their winning streak. Brown has rushed for 379 yards and seven touchdowns in his last four games.

But despite the injuries, the Longhorns have won six straight and if they can survive a tough Oklahoma State team on Saturday, they must deal with Texas Tech and No. 4 Baylor in the season finale.

We’ve gone through this on both sides of the ball with David and Jordan Hicks,” junior center Dominic Espinosa said. “Those were two guys that were big leaders in the beginning of the season, and now something similar is happening with Chris Whaley and Jonathan Gray.

So now we’re ready to step up and fill their shoes in leadership roles.”

Oklahoma State could care less as they are vying for their second Big 12 title in three years, but also will have their hands full with Baylor and 22nd ranked Oklahoma still to contend with at season’s end.

We got these three games and we control our own fate,” senior guard Brandon Webb said. “If we win out, we do what we want to do and we’ll have leave it up to the BCS Poll after that, but right now, we’re going for the Big 12 championship and so are these next three teams in front of us, so we just got to prepare.”

With the Cowboys riding a five-game win streak and on the road, the oddsmakers have still made them the favorites with a (minus) -3.0 over the Longhorns, but with lines changing daily, secure your bets with us here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

You’re at a point in the season where you need to win one to get to the next one if you want to stay in that race,” OKST Mike Gundy said. “If we wouldn’t have played well and beat Kansas, it wouldn’t have been a big game. But you have to continue to move forward and this will be a new challenge for us.

(Texas) is a very talented football team, we’re playing on the road, so we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

That they do as the Longhorns have won 23 of 27 all-time meetings against Oklahoma State, but the Cowboys have won the last two visits, including 38-26 on October 15, 2011.

The Cowboys have improved and played extremely well under quarterback Clint Chelf (six TDs, 190 yards rushing, two scores) the past three games replacing an ineffective J.T. Walsh and running back Desmond Roland has a team-high 12 touchdowns over the last month.

I agree with the oddsmakers and predict the Cowboys going into Austin and winning their third straight game there as they have just beat up on the competition of late and can put some points on the board.

PICK: Oklahoma State

NCAA Prediction College Football Week 12 Free Pick- # Stanford vs. USC

NCAA Preview, Pick and Prediction for the Stanford vs USC Game Week 12

#4 Stanford Cardinal (8-1) @ USC Trojans (7-3) 11/16- 8:00PM EST

Line: STAN -4.0

Over/Under: 45.5

Coming off their biggest win of the year last Thursday night against then No. 2 Oregon, the No.4 Cardinal will now try to keep the momentum going by going into the Coliseum and taking on a resurgent USC team as they try to keep pace in the BCS race and win a PAC 12 North title and conference championship.

The Cardinal (8-1, 6-1) coming off an impressive win over the Ducks have to be feeling good about their chances on Saturday evening as they have beaten the Trojans four-straight times and can control their own destiny with a win and only a weak Cal team and a season finale match-up against Notre Dame standing in their way to hosting a second-consecutive Pac-12 championship on December 7th.

I think we’re at that point in the season now where we can’t afford to go up and down,” Stanford coach David Shaw said. “It’s November, and there’s only one way you can play in November, and that’s all-out.”

The Cardinal know they still have an outside shot at a possible national championship with a #4 ranking in the BCS Poll.

(The BCS) is all hypothetical scenarios. It doesn’t matter at this point. We lose a game, whew, it’s all for naught,” linebacker Shayne Skov said. “The recipe for us ending up anywhere relevant is for us to win the rest of our football games.”

USC will be trying to stop a four-game (three in a row in L.A.) skid at the hands of the Cardinal with a win on Saturday as they are riding a three game win streak and four-of-five since the Lane Kiffin firing back in September.

Interim coach Ed Orgeron has given the Trojans new life as they sit tied for second place with the Bruins for the Pac-12 South title one game behind Arizona State who they lost to earlier which led to Kiffen’s firing.

First year Trojan starter Cody Kessler has sparked the Trojans offense and seems to have found his grove during the winning streak having struggled earlier in the season.

Kessler has completed 74.3 percent of his passes for 9.24 yards per attempt with four touchdowns and one interception during the three win streak.

The Trojan running game has also picked up, however with the Stanford defense allowing only 98.7 rushing yards per game… tops in the conference, we can see why the points spread has made them the favorites, but be sure to follow the latest odds here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

I too predict a Stanford win come Saturday with a terrific defense, a seasoned quarterback in Kevin Hogan and a powerful running game (205.0 yards per game) led by senior Tyler Gaffney who is third in the Pac-12 with 1,043 yards while averaging 4.9 per carry with 14 total touchdowns.

It will be an entertaining game but too much Stanford.

Free picks and prediction for week 12 of the NCAA college football games

Washington Huskies (6-3) @ #13 UCLA Bruins (7-2) 11/15- 9:00PM EST

Line: UCLA -2.5

Over/Under: 60.5

On Friday night in a prime-time showdown, No. 13 UCLA will try to keep their PAC 12 South title hopes alive, as well as stay in contention for a BCS major bowl bid as they take on the Washington Huskies at the Rose Bowl.

With Bruins starting running back Jordan James still hobbled by a nagging ankle injury that has kept him out three games already, we may get to see once again Bruins’ freshman linebacker Myles Jack line up in the UCLA backfield.

Jack (just 18 years old) was heavily recruited as a running back but wanted the chance to play linebacker for the Bruins and has become solid at his position on the defensive side of the ball.

Last Saturday night he finished with eight tackles—one for loss, two pass break-ups and a fumble recovery, however it’s what he did when given the football that made heads turn.

UCLA coach Jim Mora in need of some offensive spark from the Bruins’ running back inserted Jack into the offensive scheme and he responded by running for 120 yards on just six carries.

Jack’s 66-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the Bruins 31-26 win over Arizona.

It worked, but there’s a saturation point, Mora said. “Everyone is going to want to see this and think it’s great, but what they forget is coaches are now prepared for it and they’re going to have an answer.”

Meaning of course, how many snaps Jack is involved with on Friday night is unclear.

It depends on the situation,” said Mora who’s Bruins team will be facing a Washington defense that has had no answer against the running game in their last four contests giving up an average of 209.5 yards rushing per game.

We’re not going to do something just to gimmick. Its got to have merit.” Mora also said.

If that wasn’t enough to worry about for the Huskies, they will also have to contend with way to slow down sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley who has bounced back in his last two games by completing 37 of 49 for 500 yards and four touchdowns. Against Oregon on October 26, he threw for a career-low 64 yards in their 42-14 loss.

The Bruins (7-2, 4-2 Pac 12) hope to continue their home dominance over the Huskies where they have won their last seven series meetings with them by an average of 13.9 points as they sit one game back of No. 21 Arizona State in the Pac 12 South for the division lead.

The two teams haven’t met since the Huskies’ 24-7 victory in Seattle since November 18, 2010.

Oddsmakers are expecting a close game making the Bruins a slight favorite (minus) -2.5 over the Huskies, but be sure to check the latest betting lines here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

The Huskies after a strong start to begin the season will bring a strong running game of their own powered by Bishop Sankey who is third in the nation with 145.0 yards per game.

Washington… once ranked in the top 25 lost three straight games to then No. 5 Stanford, No. 2 Oregon and Arizona State, but have won their last two over weaker California and Colorado.

Washington quarterback Keith Price will be seeking his third straight 300-yard game but will have to face a corps of Bruin linebackers regarded as one of the country’s best in the likes of…. Jack, Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks and Jordan Zumwalt.

It’ll be a good game,” said Mora. “It’ll be exciting. They’re a good football team and there’s a lot at stake. It’ll be a fun environment in the Rose Bowl.”

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian agrees… “It’s going to be a hard-fought ballgame. That’s a good football team at UCLA. It won’t be an easy environment to play in on Friday night.”

I also expect a great game between the two schools, but with they way the Bruins play at the Rose Bowl allowing only 16.5 points this season, I predict a Bruins win.

NCAA College Football Pick – Georgia Tech vs. #8 Clemson

NCAA Prediction College Football Week 12 Thursday Game Preview & Pick- Georgia Tech vs. #8 Clemson

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-3) @ Clemson Tigers (8-1) 11/14- 7:30PM EST

Line: CLEM -10.5

Over/Under: 57.5

On Thursday night, the No. 8 Clemson Tigers, coming off their bye-week will look to stay on track in the BCS race against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in another Atlantic Coast Conference match-up on prime-time here is my prediction and pick for this game.

The Clemson Tigers (8-1, 6-1 ACC) hope to pick up where they left off before their week off when they defeated Virginia in a rout 59-10 on Nov. 2nd and have won their last two since their week 8 loss to No. 2 Florida State.

The guys deserve all the credit because they have gotten themselves ready and found ways to win games,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “This is the most complete game that we had. This team will be judged based on how we finish, but we had a good start to November.”

Clemson wide-out Sammy Watkins has been on fire the last two games with 22 catches for 332 yards in the last two games making quarterback Tajh Boyd’s job look easy.

When you have a guy like him with space, he’s going to have an opportunity to make plays,” Boyd said of Watkins. “Sammy did an unbelievable job. You kind of just got to throw your arm up and he will have a chance to get the ball.”

The combination of Boyd and Watkins has helped the Tigers average 39.8 points a game to rank 15th in the FBS and in their last two games have out-gained Maryland and Virginia 1,150-641 in total offense.

That’s what we plan on doing, keep finishing and staying healthy,” Watkins said. “We need to go out with a bang and have fun. This is what it is all about here in November. You got to show everyone that you’re a top 10 team now and not just in September.”

With the way the Tigers have been playing since their lone defeat to Florida State, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson knows he will have his hands full with Clemson.

It’s certainly going to be a big challenge on Thursday night,” said Johnson. “Clemson is a tough place to play and they’ve got a lot of explosive athletes. .. We look at it as an opportunity to go in and measure ourselves as a team and see if we’ve made the progress we feel we’ve made in the past couple of weeks.”

The Tigers may be going in as the favorite with a (minus) -10.5 at home, but Georgia Tech has some offensive fire-power of their own with a bruising running game that averages 311.2 yards out of the triple option.

They also have a defense that allows only 103.4 rushing yards against… good for 10th in all of college football.

The Yellow Jackets (6-3, 5-2 ACC) with a win on Thursday can clinch at least a share of the Coastal Division title but it hasn’t been easy as Georgia Tech has followed a three-game losing streak with three straight wins, outscoring opponents 112-35 in that span.

We’re a team that’s fairly physical. We run the ball pretty good an defend the run pretty good,” Johnson said. “When we do the things that we do well and take care of the ball, we could be a tough out.”

Thursday night’s game will be well played, but the spread dictates the failures of Georgia Tech to beat a Top 25 team, where they have lost seven in a row and the Tigers have beaten unranked opponents 26 consecutive times at home by an average of 23.6 points.

It seems like a safe bet on Clemson come Thursday night, but feel free to check the latest lines here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

NCAA Prediction College Football Week 12 Wednesday Night Preview- Ball St. vs. #15 NIU

Ball State Cardinals (9-1) @ Northern Illinois Huskies (9-0) 11/13- 8:00PM EST

Line: NIU -6.5

Over/Under: 69.5

On Wednesday night, Northern Illinois (9-0, 5-0 MAC) will get set to host and defend their Mid-American Conference West Division title when the 9-1 (6-0 MAC) Ball State Cardinals go in seeking their 12th consecutive league victory and first division championship since 2008.

However, the NIU Huskies, the two-time defending MAC West champions are unbeaten and riding a 24-game home winning streak and 22 straight over conference opponents… the longest such streak in college football thanks in large part to Heisman Trophy hopeful Jordan Lynch leading an offense that ranks among the top 10 in college football averaging 44.2 points, 312.7 rushing yards and 545.4 total yards per game.

So, with Wednesday night’s game, it’s a winner take all.

Bet here and get upto $1000 sign up bonus right now

It’s going to be a big challenge for us,” Huskies coach Rod Carey said. “We’ve got a fine football team coming in here. They have a taste for winning right now.”

Ball State also goes into Wednesday’s contest with a prolific offense of their own, with quarterback Keith Wenning and receiver Willie Snead leading the way as they rank in the top 20 in the FBS averaging 39.9 and 323.0 yards per game.

The Cardinal defense is first in college football with 15 fumble recoveries.

Playing in a meaningful game in November, this is the kind of opportunity you want your kids to have,” Ball State coach Pete Lembo said. “It’s not going to be easy, but for us it’s good to be relevant.”

The Huskies will have all eyes on junior Willie Snead who ranks third in the FBS with a career-high 1,175 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 74 catches.

Wenning has passed for 3,164 yards with 27 touchdowns with only five interceptions thus far this season.

NIU has won the last four over Ball State averaging 40.3 points, but the last two at NIU have been decided by nine points.

Oddsmakers have set the over/under at 69.5, so they expect the points to be flying on the board with these two offenses. With a lines spread of NIU (minus) -6.5, they feel confident with the Huskies playing at home.

Ball State will be challenged by two-way quarterback Jordan Lynch who leads all college QBs with 1,150 rushing yards with a 6.6 per carry average.

Lynch has also completed 63.6% of his passes for 1871 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.

NIU knows they have a chance for a perfect season if they can just get by Ball State on Wednesday night.

I think our best is yet to come with this team,” Lynch said. “I don’t think we have to do anything out of the ordinary. We just have to be ourselves going into this game, and we have a lot of talent, we just need to focus on this game without going to far ahead.”

Two talented teams will be set to do battle on Wednesday night… I expect a good one and will go with NIU as the favorite being at home, but be sure to check here at Wonder Punter for the latest lines leading up to game time.

My Prediction for this game is ….  PICK: NIU Huskies

NCAA Pick College Football 7th Nov Game Prediction – #3 Oregon vs. #5 Stanford

NCAA College football preview for Thursday 7th November Oregon vs Stanford Prediction

#3 Oregon Ducks (8-0) @ #5 Stanford Cardinal (7-1) 11/07- 11:00PM EST

Line: ORE -10.0

Over/Under: 61.0

Get ready for another classic Pac 12 battle this Thursday night as No. 3 Oregon Ducks look to take their high-flying act into Stanford Stadium as it seeks revenge from last year’s loss against the No. 5 Stanford Cardinal for sole possession in the Pac 12 North division.

With the betting line making the Cardinal 10-point underdogs… oddsmakers are betting the Cardinal defense will have no way to slow down Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and his offensive machine as they look to remain unbeaten (8-0, 5-0 Pac 12) and in the BCS Championship hunt.

Heisman Trophy candidate Marcus Mariota has thrown up some incredible numbers this year so far… 2,281 yards and 20 touchdowns and has ran for 587 yards and nine touchdowns, 64.0 percent completions with no interceptions. His last INT was against the Cardinal last year.

I though last year he was the best quarterback in the nation, and I feel the same way this year,” Shaw said. “I don’t care about stats. Stats don’t mean anything. You watch the film, you see a kid that makes every throw. Every throw is accurate. Twenty touchdowns and no interceptions? Every ball is perfect, every ball is in stride, every ball there’s no wobble on it. Everything’s pretty.

As a former receiver, you always appreciate that, a guy that just throws a pretty ball. And then when nobody’s open, he just takes off and outruns everybody. You’re designing a quarterback, that’s what you want.”

However, the same was said last year and the Cardinal (7-1, 5-1) marched into Eugene and upset the Ducks 17-14 in overtime to oust then No. 1 Oregon and any hopes for a national title.

If our guys use last year as a motivational factor to practice harder… we’ll take it,” Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said. “Any external motivation that was used to prepare, great.”

The Cardinal defense has risen to the challenge to stop two great quarterbacks and their offense already this season… UCLA’s Brett Hundley (10 points) and Oregon States’ Sean Mannion (12 points) in back-to-back games.

One key to Stanford’s success has been forcing miscues where they are ranked second in all of football with 33 straight turnovers.

Do they have one more stop in them with Mariota?

He’s a great player. He’s going to make some plays. But we can’t just let him take the ball, read what we are doing,” said Cardinal linebacker A.J. Tarpley. “We want to try and mix it up a little bit, whether that’s attacking him, try to show something that looks like something but it’s actually something else. We’ll mix it up. We don’t want them to get in their rhythm. Because once they do that, you can’t stop them.”

Last year, for the most part Mariota was ineffective against the Cardinal defense.

I think a lot of times we were hesitating a little bit and we were unsure of some of the fronts we were seeing,” Mariota said. “That’s the stuff we’re really going to have to clean up.”

I look for a much better performance all around from the Ducks this year and even though it’s a tough road game, I feel they can cover the spread and beat the Stanford Cardinal.

PICK: Oregon

NCAA College Football Prediction Thursday Game Preview/Pick- #10 Oklahoma vs. #6 Baylor

NCAA Football prediction Thursday Game Preview & Prediction Week 11 Pick

#10 Oklahoma Sooners (7-1) @ #6 Baylor Bears (7-0) 11/07- 9:30PM EST

Line: BAY -14.5

Over/Under: 74.0

Great game this Thursday night with two Top 10 BCS teams looking to stay in the championship hunt as No. 10 Oklahoma and No.6 Baylor square off in what should be a great Big 12 battle.

Six years ago, the Baylor football program was in shambles and a joke in college football… now Baylor head coach Art Briles has his high-powered Baylor Bears (7-0, 4-0) primed and ready to take on the Sooners in Waco.

Baylor has completely dominated their opponents this season outscoring them by a margin of 48 points while averaging 63.9 points and 718.4 total yards a game as they look to keep their undefeated season alive.

I certainly think that people view us as a legitimate threat,” coach Briles said. “Whether we’re viewed as the perennial program that is one that you better watch out for all the time, I don’t know. Time will tell on that. But I do think now that we’ve earned enough respect where when people look at us, they’re thinking that’s a tough out.”

Thursday night’s game will be the first of four upcoming challenges for the Bears who still have remaining games against the Big 12’s elite… Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Texas.

From a realistic standpoint, we just feel like this season is just getting started,” Briles said. “I know we’ve played seven games, but we’re ready and willing and anxious to get into the grind time, get into where we’re fighting and scraping for every single thing that’s out there, and that’s the way we’ve always approached the game.”

Oklahoma (7-1,4-1) feels that they are more prepared this year for the spread offense that they will see on Thursday as they have implemented a different defense to defend against it and so far it has worked where they now rank 10th in the FBS in total defense, allowing only 314.3 yards a game.

But, facing the likes of a Baylor offense will still pose a great challenge for the Sooner defense.

We did it for the most of the teams we see in our league,” Sooners coach Bob Stoops said of the defensive change.

We just saw it with Tech and Baylor is part of that, you know, on and on. We felt it gave us more versatility. It played to our strengths better and it put more speed on the field. Hopefully, it will continue to help us.”

The key to the Sooners winning says Stoops will be to keep the Bears offense off the field.

If we play 90-100 snaps (on defense), it’s not good,” he said. “You can’t win a game, I don’t believe, playing Baylor if we have to play 90-100 snaps. That’s not a game that you want to be in. You hope your offense can control the football and you can control the tempo of the game.”

With the betting line having Baylor favored at -14.5 and an over/under of 74.0… we can expect the points to be flying with the one-two punch of Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty (350.4 yards passing a game) ranking fourth nationally and the running back power of Lache Seastrunk (869 yards and 11 touchdowns) to put the pressure on the Sooner’s defense.

You can only do so much, in that… when they line two guys up all the way out there,” he said, pointing one way, “and all the way out there,” pointing the other way, “you’ve got to go out and cover them, so there’s only so many left.”

The oddsmakers are not giving the Sooners much hope against the Baylor Bears and I may have to agree with their pick as well. Too much Baylor fire-power to contain, let alone stop.

PICK: Baylor
