Free NBA Pick and Prediction Pacers vs. Mavericks

Indiana Pacers (46-16, 17-12 away) @ Dallas Mavericks (37-26, 20-10 home) 03/09- 7:30PM EST

Line: IND -1.0

Over/Under: 197.0

The Indiana Pacers take to the court on Sunday night against the Dallas Mavericks as they try to regroup and end their longest slide of the season in what should be an entertaining game.

Dallas will be the second stop for the Pacers in Texas and hopefully they can give a better performance than they egg they laid against the Houston Rockets on Friday night when they suffered a 112-86 blowout loss. I truly believed they were going to leave Houston with a big win, instead what we got was a team that has looked awful since winning five straight not too long ago and now find themselves trying to avoid losing four consecutive games.

Indiana committed 19 turnovers and were outscored in the paint 48-30 against the Rockets, but more disturbing has been their lack of defense over the last two games as they gave up 109 at Charlotte and 112 at Houston while giving up a combined 51.9 percent shooting to both teams.

We just need to win games at this point,” center Roy Hibbert said. “We’re just putting the emphasis on trying to get better. We’ve been playing awful.”

The Pacers (46-16) still find themselves atop the Eastern Conference but now find the two-time defending champion Miami Heat hot on their heals for the top spot in the East.

Despite Indiana’s 37 turnovers over the last two ballgames and lack of defense, coach Frank Vogel doesn’t seem too concern…

Every team I’ve ever been a part of has had a stretch like we’re in right now. And since I’ve been here we’ve always worked our way out of it, so I’m sure we will. It stinks right now. It’s not fun right now, but we’ve got a good team and we’ll regroup.”

Another key to the Pacers getting back to winning other than their lack of defense will be the ability of small forward Paul George to get back on track putting the ball through the net, where he is a combined 5-of-21 shooting for just 15 points with nine turnovers in his last two games.

In Indiana’s 81-73 home defeat to Dallas back on Feb. 12, George was held to just 12 points while going a dismal 4-of-17 from the field as the Mavericks snapped a three-game losing streak to the Pacers.

The Mavericks (37-26) will look to keep it going after beating the Portland Trail Blazers 103-98 on Friday night, however they had to rally after blowing a 30-point second quarter lead. Dirk Nowitski poured in 22 points to help the Mavs snap a three-game losing streak going into the game.

It’s that close; you’re either feeling great about it or it’s a really tough, tough night,” said Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, who’s Dallas ball club holds a slim lead against the surging Memphis Grizzlies for the eight spot in the tough Western Conference. “This is how it’s going to be the next 19 games; the games are all going to be hard like this.”

From here on out, the Mavericks realize it will be the defense that will propel them into the playoffs.. and let’s be honest, Dallas has never been known as a defensive team but after giving up an average of 109.0 points a game during their three-game skid, they understand what is needed the rest of the way.

That’s what it comes down to, one stop and one opportunity, one stop,” Carlisle said. “That’s how you’ve got to look at it. It’s going to be a character test. If we’re not up to it, then we don’t deserve to go to the playoffs.”

Although the Pacers seem to be going the wrong way, the oddsmakers have faith they can get together in Dallas as they have been made a very slim (minus -1.0) point favorite, but with the line likely to move before tipoff, stay up-to-date with the latest odds here at Wonder Punter.

Expect a close, well played game as both teams realize they must clamp down the rest of the way and play with a sense of urgency, but I am going to agree with the oddsmakers and favor the Pacers to win on Sunday night as I feel they are due to finally get back to playing the style of basketball we expect out of them.

BEEF ‘O’ BRADY BOWL- ST. Petersburg, FL

The East Carolina Pirates had their third Conference USA title in their sights, but a blowout loss in their regular-season finale ended that opportunity, so they will now focus on a second double-digit win season when they battle Ohio in the Beef ‘O’ Brady Bowl on Monday night.

The Pirates (9-3) where in search of their third Conference USA title in six years, but a blowout loss to Marshall 59-28 put an end to that. East Carolina is moving to the American Athletic Conference next season to join the likes of such teams as Louisville, Central Florida and Cincinnati.

East Carolina was riding a five-game winning streak behind their high-powered offense, but fell short of yet another opportunity for a conference crown with their loss at Marshall, who won the East Division.

I am proud of that group,” coach Ruffin McNeill said. “I’ve been coaching 33 years. It’s rare when you have a chance to win nine games but we have a chance to win 10… We have done a lot of things that nobody thought we could do.”

Leading the offensive charge of the Pirates is Conference USA MVP Shane Carden. All the junior quarterback has done is rank sixth in college football with 3,866 passing yards. rank eighth with 32 touchdowns passes and is tops in the nation with a 71.0 percent completion rating.

Thanks to Carden, the Pirates are 10th in the FBS with 40.4 points and 331.5 yards through the air per contest, which Ohio head coach Frank Solich admits finding a way to slow down Carden is a priority.

You don’t have great passing stats without having a great quarterback that’s poised,” Solich said. “He’s a great thrower, is knowledgeable about the game and reads things well.”

Another concern for Ohio will be the 1-2 punch of receiver Justin Hardy, fifth in the nation with 105 receptions for 1,218 yards with eight touchdowns and running back Vintavious Cooper, who has run for 995 yards and 11 touchdowns. Carden has 10 rushing touchdowns of his own.

They’ll also spread people out which enables them to get the ball to their receivers, guys that are playmakers,” Solich said. “Also when you spread people out, you can generally piece together a pretty good running game. Just look at them, they have talent. They’re big and physical on both sides of the ball.”

For the Ohio Bobcats (7-5), they will look to counter with fifth-year senior quarterback Tyler Tettleton, who since taking over the starting job in 2011 has thrown for 8,769 yards and 66 touchdowns, but his recent struggles down the stretch this year has been a concern.

During the Bobcats three-game losing streak, Tettleton totaled just 351 yards with one touchdown and two totaling a dismal 16 points, but after bouncing back his regular-season finale, he’s confident his offense can match the fire-power of the Pirates.

That’s the plan. We’re hoping to go into this thing and put in a good game plan,” Tettleton said. “Hopefully we’ll have a chance to score a lot points and see what happens.”

And scoring a lot of points is what they’ll need as the oddsmakers have made the Pirates a huge (minus 13.5) point favorite and with an over/under of 62.0, they expect the points to be flying as well. Get the latest line on this game up until kickoff right here at Wonder Punter.

The Bobcats may be a big underdog going in, but they have plenty of bowl experience as they are making their fifth consecutive appearance in postseason and have won their last two games.

It means a lot for this senior class to be here all five years and have a chance to go to a bowl game every single year,” Tettleton said. “It’s awesome and hopefully we can win three straight for this university.”

Tettleton had 331 yards and two touchdowns last year in the Independence Bowl to lead his team to a 45-14 rout of Louisiana-Monroe.

The Pirates will be looking to snap a four-game bowl losing streak and I predict this year will be the year to get they get it done to take home the trophy and cap off a 10-win season.

The Pirates fell 43-34 to Louisiana-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl last December.

NFL Week 14 Sunday Game Preview/Pick- Seattle vs. San Francisco

nfl pick 49ers

Free NFL Pick and Prediction

Seattle Seahawks (11-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (8-4) 12/08- 4:25PM EST

Line: SF -2.5

Over/Under: 41.0

On Sunday afternoon, San Francisco will be looking for revenge against their division rival Seattle, however, the Seahawks will be looking for their eighth straight win, an NFC West title and a first-round bye.

With a playoff spot already in their hands, Seattle can now focus on bigger playoff goals, but first will try to snap a five-game losing streak on the road to the 49ers.

The Seahawks (11-1) already own the NFL’s best record after taking apart the Saints last Monday night while running their home winning streak to 14 games.

We accomplished something; we’re a playoff team, which is great to know that,” coach Pete Carroll said. “But that’s not our goal, and we don’t talk that way.

We want to win this division, and that division gets us a chance to play at home, and that’s what we’re after. And then we talk about what’s next.”

Seattle will also be looking for single-season-franchise-record sixth road win as they aim for three straight against the Niners. Do that and they only need to split their final four games to earn home-field advantage come playoff time.

However, the challenge of playing in Candlestick Park will not be easy for the Seahawks, where it’s really been a tale of two stadiums for Seattle:

In home games in Seattle, the Seahawks have held the Niners to 520 total yards while outscoring them 71-16 in the last two games at CenturyLink Field. On the road, Seattle has been outscored by 109-54 during their four- game losing streak at the Stick.

San Francisco knows they need to play well on Sunday to stay with their winning ways and keep momentum heading into the playoffs and aren’t too concerned about the revenge factor.

The 49ers were embarrassed 29-3 up in Seattle back on September 15.

I’ve never taken the revenge approach,” coach Jim Harbaugh said. “Validation, we want to play well, we want to win. … Your goal is to win the football game. That’s really all-consuming, you want to win.”

The 49ers currently have a one-game lead for the NFC’s final wild-card spot after outscoring Washington and St. Louis in their last two contests.

You definitely want to come and play well, at home, and show everybody what we can do against a really good team,” fullback Bruce Miller said. “Right now, our goal is finish out the year and keep winning games and get to the postseason.”

And one big reason for San Francisco’s recent success is quarterback Colin Kaepernick who has done a solid job of running the offense by completing 65.4 percent of his passes, throwing for four touchdowns and no interceptions over his last two games.

Oddsmakers have given the nod to the Niners at home making them a (minus) -2.5 point favorite. It’s a close a spread and may move, so be sure to check the latest lines on the game up until kickoff here at Wonder Punter.

Expect a heavy dose of Marshawn Lynch against San Francisco who has five touchdowns in his last two games against the Niners and is averaging 104.8 rushing yards in his last four. San Francisco ranks 11th in the league allowing 105.5 yards per game against the run.

San Francisco understands one key to winning on Sunday is keeping their emotions in check against a Seattle team that likes to ‘trash talk.’

Tight end Vernon Davis says… “Any time you play a team and lose, the next time you face them is definitely a statement game. Not just for us, but for anybody.”

Michael Crabtree will continue to be an added boost to the Niner offense since returning and for Seattle Percy Harvin hopes to return to action after missing the New Orleans’ game dealing with soreness in his hip.

Another close game to call… I like them both, but feel the 49ers will play with more of a sense of urgency to strengthen their playoff position.

Thursday night’s NFL match-up will feature two football teams going in opposite directions… and last year the roles were reversed as the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons will battle in the NFC South as the Saints will try to sweep the season series and extend the Falcons’ losing streak to five games… their longest in five years.

New Orleans (8-2) will be vying for their third straight victory and keep pace with the Seattle Seahawks who are 1½ games ahead of them in the NFC for best record.

These are the (games) that just sharpen you, build confidence moving forward,” quarterback Drew Brees said.

Atlanta (2-8) tied for worst record in the conference and one year-removed from an NFC-best 13-3 record has problems everywhere… injuries, poor running game and a struggling defense has caused what many feel around the league to have quit on each other as they have dropped four straight.

Cleary, we’re 10 games into this thing and certainly far, far away from where we want to be,” quarterback Matt Ryan said. “We’ve got six games to go. It’s about going out there and taking pride in what you do.”

These two teams were expected to compete with one another for the South Division title, instead it’s the Carolina Panthers who are challenging the Saints.

Drew Brees has led an offense that ranks second in the NFL with 419.1 yards and 28.8 points per game. Brees is completing 68.2 percent of his passes and is second to Peyton Manning with 3,369 yards passing and 26 touchdowns.

Defensively, the Saints are getting it done as well ranking fourth in the league with 305.4 yards and fifth with 18.3 points this season.

New Orleans enters Thursday’s contest having won 12 of 15 over the Falcons and this season with Atlanta having a down year, the oddsmakers have favored the Saints (minus) -9.5 on the road which may change as the game approaches, so check the latest odds here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

This is a test we’re going to have to try and overcome,” defensive Cameron Jordan said. “Honestly, why not have it? It’s a division opponent, it’s our rival. It’s going to talk a lot about the fortitude and what we have on this team.”

Atlanta is allowing 29.2 points per game—29th in the league and may have hit rock bottom last Sunday in their loss to the one-win Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Despite the backward season the Falcons are suffering through this year.. Atlanta owner Arthur Blank remains confident in Smith and general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

I absolutely do. And, they’ve earned it over the past five years,” Blank said. “It’s a tough business. We’ve had a lot if injuries, and issues on top of the injuries. These guys are proven leaders and proven by success. … They’ll do the work that has been done with my full support.”

With a season virtually lost, can the Falcons finish the season strong and with pride?

As a large portion of the group booed the decision, St-Pierre took the microphone and introduced he needed to “hang up his gloves,” for a bit – but when asked definitively if this might be his last struggle, the Canadian champion wavered.

“There was a lot of discuss what was going to happen [after this combat],” St-Pierre mentioned. “I have a bunch of stuff in my life taking place. I want to hang up my gloves for a little bit bit.

“I will make some extent on that somewhat later, but for right now, I’ve got to go away for a bit of bit.”

Hendricks (15-2), who raised his arms in victory when the fight ended, challenged St-Pierre in each facet of the sport. He harm him a number of occasions together with his signature left hand and scored key takedowns in the third and fourth rounds.

A former NCAA wrestling champion at Oklahoma State University, Hendricks collapsed when the scores have been learn.

“I assumed I clearly won the fight,” he said.

The first left hand Hendricks threw, St-Pierre took him down on. Whereas that was a major assertion for the champion, it was finally ineffective, as Hendricks popped immediately back up.

The first round was one of many closest of your complete battle. Hendricks frequently tried to measure up the straight left, however stayed busy with jabs and hooks from the appropriate. He attacked St-Pierre’s legs with knees during prolonged clinches away from the fence.

He scored his first main moment in the second frame with a left uppercut on the within. St-Pierre backed away and tried to reset, however his legs buckled on him and Hendricks smelled blood.

St-Pierre would get well and responded well in the third round. Hendricks scored a giant takedown late within the spherical, however St-Pierre appeared to land the cleaner of the strikes.

Hendricks’ punches, nonetheless, did more visible harm. St-Pierre began to bleed from the nostril in the third spherical and had swelling around each eyes.

“I misplaced my reminiscence a bit bit in the course of the struggle,” St-Pierre mentioned. “I could not see. He really messed me up.

“He was superb at countering my game plan. He’s a powerful puncher. I can tell you that.”

In the fourth and fifth rounds, Hendricks made selections that will come to haunt him. After executing a ravishing outside journey to get St-Pierre down within the fourth, he stood up and allowed him to get back to his feet.

In the fifth, he began smiling at St-Pierre and making facial expressions. St-Pierre pressured him and caught him with a straight right, which he adopted with a crucial takedown.

St-Pierre has now received a UFC document 19 fights in the Octagon. He extended his present win streak to 12 with the choice.

Evans KOs his good buddy Sonnen

Rashad Evans appears to have fully recovered from that two-fight skid.

Evans (19-three-1) dominated Chael Sonnen in a primary-round TKO victory. It was his second consecutive win and pushes a two-battle losing streak to Jon Jones and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira further behind him.

Stated Evans: “I feel great. It has been a very long time since I completed a battle in the first spherical. I understand how tough Chael is and what he is able to so I anticipated the battle might go the full rounds. The mindset in our camp at Blackzilians could be very robust proper now and it is getting stronger on daily basis. We’re all coming in with an intensity and trying to complete for right here on out.”

Rashad Evans vs. Chael Sonnen

Rashad Evans put Chael Sonnen on the mat and by no means let him stand up.

Sonnen (28-14-1) tried to employ his typical aggressive type. He moved forward behind the jab within the opening spherical and shot on Evans within the first 5 seconds.

“Man, he hit me so exhausting in there. I couldn’t believe the quantity of energy he was in a position to generate,” said Sonnen.

“I feel I might’ve stuck in there more minutes if I used to be in a extra advantageous place. I used to be satisfied I might beat him towards the cage and in the boxing however he was capable of get prime position. There isn’t any excuse for losing in the same place a number of occasions so I positively have to work on that. I feel I can do higher at mild heavyweight but it’s in all probability time for me to return to middleweight.”

Evans backed up and used the cage to defend the shot. The 2 then engaged in an extended clinch along the fence, battling for position and landing brief punches and knees to the physique.

It was Evans who finally scored the takedown, pinning Sonnen on his again up in opposition to the cage wall. It was a methodical, dominant path to the finish from there.

Evans improved his position to half guard and then back mount. He flattened Sonnen out with ninety seconds remaining within the round and landed punches to the facet of the top until referee Herb Dean known as a stop at the 4:05 mark.

Lawler upsets MacDonald

At 31, Robbie Lawler is rewriting his career – and the UFC welterweight rankings.

Lawler (22-9) upset a closely favored Rory MacDonald through cut up decision, winning over among the professional-MacDonald crowd in his favor along the way in which.

Two judges scored the a hundred and seventy-pound belt 29-28 for Lawler, whereas a third saw it 29-28 MacDonald. ESPN.com scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Lawler.

Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler

It wasn’t a lot Rory MacDonald, left, may do towards a extra powerful and energetic Robbie Lawler.

It was a unbelievable, back-and-forth affair, proper as much as the final bell. Lawler pressed the problem the total quarter-hour, walking MacDonald backwards and shutting down his phenomenal jab and kickboxing recreation.

MacDonald (15-2) was never hurt in the first spherical, but it surely was apparent coming out of the primary intermission he wished to take Lawler down. Lawler’s takedown protection was excellent early, although, as he saved his stability and smiled at his opponent.

The fight took a significant turn halfway through the second round, when MacDonald did earn his first takedown. Lawler did not work back to his toes and eventually ate a couple of stable proper arms on his back to give MacDonald the round.

Lawler got here out indignant within the last round, which really worked against him at first as MacDonald took him down throughout a flying knee attempt. Lawler tied him up well off his again although, and referee Mario Yamasaki stood them up shortly.

Moments after the standup, Lawler went to work. He clipped MacDonald with a straight left, and then reversed into prime place when the Canadian shot in for a quick takedown.

An action-packed third spherical continued when Lawler signaled MacDonald back to his toes and hurt him once more with a mixture in opposition to the fence. MacDonald complained of an eye-poke, which Yamasaki acknowledged. As Lawler waited for the struggle to resume, he smiled to the gang and nodded his head emphatically.

On the restart, Lawler dropped MacDonald, once more with the left hand, and adopted him to the ground for the end. MacDonald finally got back to his ft and took Lawler down within the ultimate minute.

“I actually needed to go on the market and end Rory tonight however he trains with probably the greatest camps in the world and he is super robust and durable,” stated Lawler after the battle.

“I began to tire toward the top of the third round however I’ve got numerous heart and I will all the time push by way of it doesn’t matter what. I spent this camp training in Florida with American Prime Staff away from my household in Iowa. I always work laborious however being away really motivated me to push by all of the bumps and bruises in training. It felt great to listen to the gang chanting my identify. I believe they connect with me due to my tenacity and the way I struggle. I always have seemed for the finish and I at all times will. I take possibilities for the followers.”

Lawler has now recorded three consecutive wins since rejoining the UFC earlier this year. MacDonald, who was the No. 4 ranked welterweight in the world based on ESPN.com headed into the bout, sees a 5-battle win streak snapped.

Woodley finishes Koscheck by KO

Tyron Woodley has been around, however he might need simply really arrived.

Woodley (12-2) scored the biggest win of his career, knocking out Josh Koscheck at the 4:38 mark of their welterweight bout. A lethal, counter straight right was what did Koscheck in, planted on to his chin.

Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley only needed one spherical to finish Josh Koscheck.

“I did a ton of cross training for this struggle as a result of I knew Josh is an especially powerful and skilled guy with loads of expertise,” mentioned Woodley.

“I knew coming in that I would be very comfortable with him and I was ready to set the tempo. When he threw that punch I was ready to counter. We drilled that counter a thousand times and I was prepared to connect on it. If you happen to look at my document my fights are all against top guys like Jake Shields and Jay Hieron. I’m making an attempt to make my mark on the market and if Rory MacDonald wins I need him subsequent. I need to struggle the top guys and I’ve acquired the abilities to beat them.”

A former No. 1 contender at a hundred and seventy kilos in Strikeforce, Woodley was outstanding in his second Octagon win. He knocked down Koscheck (17-8) in the opening moments of the battle with a jab, proper mixture and defended a protracted takedown attempt in opposition to the fence after Koscheck jumped back to his feet.

Once they broke off the fence, another overhand proper landed for Woodley off a degree change. He almost swept Koscheck off his toes with a leg kick moments later, then dropped him a second time with one other counter right.

Referee Herb Dean allowed Koscheck to continue, despite taking 4 to 5 hammering rights by Woodley on the floor. Dean eventually stood the 2 up, after Koscheck tied up Woodley for a lengthy period from his again.

With lower than a minute in the spherical, Koscheck regarded to make up for misplaced floor. He came forward along with his infamous overhand proper – which appeared to be exactly what Woodley expected.

Woodley slipped the punch earlier than coming back with a devastating proper of his own. Koscheck’s legs gave out visibly and Woodley related on two extra blistering punches as he fell to his back.

Koscheck suffers his third consecutive defeat, the last two of which have come via knockout. Robbie Lawler completed him in lower than 4 minutes at UFC 157 in February. Woodley improves to 2-1 within the UFC.

Bagautinov’s UFC debut ends with victory

Ali Bagautinov did not appear nervous in his UFC debut – at all.

Bagautinov (12-2) scored a unanimous choice win over Tim Elliott in his first UFC performance, showcasing a high stage of composure along the best way. Judges scored the flyweight bout 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 for the Russian.

Ali Bagautinov vs. Tim Elliott

Russian Ali Bagautinov made a name for himself in the UFC after beating Tim Elliott.

It was a 15-minute cat-and-mouse sport between the two, as Bagautinov circled away from Elliott and relied closely on his counter punching. The technique annoyed Elliott early. He ran into a number of proper fingers, especially in the first round.

“I needed to make the most important assertion possible tonight. I give nothing less than 110 % whether or not I’m in coaching or in the octagon and I believe it showed,” mentioned Bagautinov. “My cardio wasn’t as robust as I anticipated it to be on this fight. Bodily I am very ready and in a position but I feel the local weather change and the nerves of visiting and combating in America for the first time affected me.”

Elliott (10-four-1) made small adjustments within the second spherical, principally behind a steadier food plan of the jab. He came forward aggressively with a flying knee at one point, then transitioned to a guillotine attempt as Bagautinov took him down.

The guillotine regarded tight but Bagautinov by no means appeared near going out. He stood up with Elliott still in the hold and managed to shrug him off.

The ultimate spherical, like the rest of the fight, was a chess match. Elliott continued to trace Bagautinov down, but ended up mostly eating proper hands within the course of.

The 26-year-previous Elliott did end sturdy, hip tossing Bagautinov to the ground earlier than nailing him flush with a knee to the face as he scrambled back up. The strong finish wasn’t enough to nudge him forward on the scorecards.

Stated Elliott: “I assumed I did sufficient to win tonight. I gained the third round for positive. I’ve left it within the palms of the judges my final two fights and I truthfully suppose that they’ve overwhelmed me both instances. I guess I just have to return to the health club and work tougher to get the finish so this doesn’t happen again.”

Bagautinov extends his win streak to 10 with the decision. He’s been perfect since suffering again-to-again determination losses in 2011. Elliott loses for the second time within the UFC. He came up short in a decision loss to John Dodson in Could 2012.

Cerrone destroys Dunham in Spherical 2

The nice Donald Cerrone showed up in opposition to Evan Dunham. The real good one.

Cerrone (21-6) cruised via a sturdy opponent in Dunham, submitting him by way of triangle at 3:forty nine of the second spherical.

Evan Dunham vs. Donald Cerrone

Donald Cerrone, left, dominated Evan Dunham with a classic efficiency.

Since transferring to the UFC as a member of the WEC light-weight roster in 2011, Cerrone has already accumulated eight wins, including five finishes.

“This battle was massive for me. I advised myself that if I didn’t go out there and carry out like I know I’m able to then I would’ve retired,” mentioned Cerrone.

“It is a whole lot of strain to placed on your self nevertheless it really helped me get back that inner hearth and drive that I have not had in a long time. The money begins to return and other people begin to acknowledge you and the drive slips. I always advised myself that would not happen to me but it did. Tonight before the combat I felt that nervous vitality that I have never felt in several fights. You can’t get that feeling wherever else on the planet. It solely happens proper earlier than you make that stroll to the octagon and I wanted to really feel that. It jogged my memory why I love this so much.”

Dunham (14-5) needed the fight on the bottom early, however Cerrone easily thwarted a takedown try within the opening seconds. A hard knee to the physique sent Dunham backing up and Cerrone dropped him shortly after with a proper hand.

Referee Mario Yamasaki was everywhere in the action as Cerrone swarmed for the end. Dunham, who had only been completed once previous to this loss, someway managed to survive – and escape an omaplata attempt by Cerrone in the ensuing scramble.

Wearing a lower over his left eye heading into the second round, Dunham as soon as again shot an unsuccessful early takedown. He tried to rally on his toes, landing a tough right hand as Cerrone regarded for the Thai clinch, after which a jab.

Cerrone scored his first takedown of the fight midway through the round, nonetheless, and locked in the triangle after Dunham escaped out the again end. It marks the primary time Dunham has been submitted.

The win improves Cerrone’s UFC record to eight-three. He’s been in title contention twice in that span, but losses to Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis cooled the discussion. Dunham falls to six-5 lifetime in the Octagon and 1-three in his last 4.

One other spectacular victory for Leites

Thales Leites’ second run inside the UFC is off to a nice begin.

Leites, 33, recorded his second win since re-signing with the UFC earlier this yr, defeating Ed Herman through unanimous determination. It was a one-sided victory for Leites, who once fought for the UFC middleweight title, as all three scores read 30-27.

Thales Leites vs. Ed Herman

Thales Leites, proper, could not get the KO, but did pretty much every little thing else to Ed Herman.

“I’m actually happy however I did not submit him when I had control so I’m dissatisfied in that part of my performance,” mentioned Leites. “He is very powerful and he knew simply easy methods to defend in opposition to every submission when I tried to cross his guard and improve position. I need to fix some mistakes with my coaches and come again higher.”

Herman (21-10) had no reply for the grappling pedigree of Leites. An early alternate in the center of the ring had him off-steadiness, which Leites (22-4) changed into a fast takedown.

“Felt flat on the market. It just wasn’t my night. What can I say,” mentioned Herman.

Within two minutes, Leites had passed guard into facet control. Herman managed to walk to his toes, however was quickly dragged onto his again again. Leites eventually took his back and threatened with a choke before settling for punches.

A decided Herman got here out swinging within the second round. He connected with a proper to the body, but Leites calmly ducked underneath a haymaker and scored one other easy takedown. He would take Herman’s again once more momentarily, but mostly appeared content controlling him on the bottom.

The Las Vegas crowd grew restless within the third, as Leites walked by a right uppercut to clinch Herman along the fence. In maybe his best moment of the struggle, Herman turned Leites into the cage and landed a pointy left hook to the chin.

Exhausted from the grappling exchanges, nonetheless, Herman failed to comply with up the punch and was shortly on his back once once more, despite a blatant fence grab to stay up.

Leites has now received 5 consecutive bouts, relationship again to August 2010. He scored a unanimous resolution win over Tom Watson in August, his first battle with the UFC since 2009. Herman falls to 8-6 general in the Octagon.

Story outclasses Ebersole

Rick Story couldn’t quite get a end over Brian Ebersole, nevertheless it was clear from start to finish he would not be denied a win.

Brian Ebersole vs. Rick Story

Rick Story obtained a much wanted victory by dominating Brian Ebersole in three rounds.

Story (sixteen-7) took each round against Ebersole in keeping with the judges’ scorecards, hurting his veteran opponent several occasions alongside the best way. It was an impressive efficiency by the Washington-based mostly fighter, who was 2-four in his previous six.

“I simply need to thank Brian for putting on a great show with me,” mentioned Story after the struggle. “It was a good tough struggle and I believe I got the perfect of him by the end of it. These kicks to the knee really began to hurt him toward the end. I might see his facial expressions and footing begin to change so I just kept throwing them and tried to chop him down. I am comfortable I bought to carry out for the fans and getting the win is a bonus. Also, an enormous thanks to the UFC and my crew for supporting me.”

The bodily fashion and tempo of Story wore on Ebersole (50-sixteen-1) from the opening bell. Utilizing his jab as a variety finder, Story discovered a frequent house for his straight left within the first spherical, mixing in heavy, resounding body punches alongside the way in which.

Following a one-sided first, Ebersole did all he might in the center frame to slow the welterweight’s pace. He had some success dictating range and holding Story on the end of his jab, but none of the punches seemed to harm Story in any way.

A hard right hook to the physique by Story with a minute left highlighted the second spherical, followed by a back-and-forth trade within the closing seconds. Ebersole almost went down by a proper hook, but opened a reduce over Story’s left eye.

“It is robust to go on the market coming off an damage,” said Ebersole. “I had three ripped disks from my combat with Chris Lytle and I’ve tried to battle through it for the final 4 camps. It is beginning to take its toll. The kicks he landed to the knee on the finish had been nicely positioned. The first three did not harm but the final two positively did.”

Ahead two rounds, Story nonetheless got here out hungry within the third. His punches grew wider as fatigue set in, but a left hand rocked Ebersole with ninety seconds left in the fight. An outdoor leg kick had Ebersole limping badly in the closing minute.

Story has now alternated wins and losses in his last 5 bouts. The 29-yr-outdated spent eight weeks coaching alongside St-Pierre at Tristar Gym in Montreal in anticipation for this bout. Ebersole suffers his second consecutive loss.

Perez again on observe with UD win over Figueroa

Less than three months after struggling his first UFC setback, Mexican bantamweight Erik Perez is back in the win column.

Erik Perez and Edwin Figueroa

Erik “Goyito” Perez bought the win in a dominating performance towards Edwin Figeroa.

Perez (14-5) outclassed Edwin Figueroa on the floor and emerged from several exchanges on the toes en route to a unanimous decision win. All three judges scored the bout a sweep, 30-27.

“I was very properly ready tonight,” Perez said. “My game plan was to go toe to toe and win the fight spherical by round. I’m very emotional after this win as a result of I feel like I did what I used to be supposed to and I was rewarded for it.

“I misplaced my last combat because I was beneath loads of pressure and obtained away from the strategy. I fastened those errors tonight and it actually paid off.”

Takedowns have been a crucial a part of Perez’s success, because it was obvious Figueroa (9-four) most popular a standup battle. Figueroa regarded to counter Perez leg kicks early with punching mixtures however surrendered his first takedown quickly.

That grew to become the story of the battle, as Figueroa would work slowly back to his feet solely to be taken down once more. Even when Figueroa did have space on the toes, Perez often landed the cleaner pictures while setting up his takedowns.

A winging overhand proper by Perez scored a knockdown within the second round. Figueroa recovered rapidly and truly answered with a strong proper uppercut standing in opposition to the cage. Perez backed off, then shot and lifted Figueroa into the air earlier than slamming him to the mat.

The ultimate round mirrored the first two. Perez attempted a number of flashy strikes, including a spinning again kick that missed, before shooting in for a takedown. He spent nearly all of the spherical touchdown quick punches from prime position.

Perez improves to 4-1 in the Octagon. His only loss got here at UFC Battle Evening 27 in August through cut up resolution to Takeya Mizugaki. Figueroa doubtless closes out what’s been a tough 2013 calendar yr, going winless in three UFC appearances.

NCAA College Football Pick – Georgia Tech vs. #8 Clemson

gerorgia-tech

NCAA Prediction College Football Week 12 Thursday Game Preview & Pick- Georgia Tech vs. #8 Clemson

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-3) @ Clemson Tigers (8-1) 11/14- 7:30PM EST

Line: CLEM -10.5

Over/Under: 57.5

On Thursday night, the No. 8 Clemson Tigers, coming off their bye-week will look to stay on track in the BCS race against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in another Atlantic Coast Conference match-up on prime-time here is my prediction and pick for this game.

The Clemson Tigers (8-1, 6-1 ACC) hope to pick up where they left off before their week off when they defeated Virginia in a rout 59-10 on Nov. 2nd and have won their last two since their week 8 loss to No. 2 Florida State.

The guys deserve all the credit because they have gotten themselves ready and found ways to win games,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “This is the most complete game that we had. This team will be judged based on how we finish, but we had a good start to November.”

Clemson wide-out Sammy Watkins has been on fire the last two games with 22 catches for 332 yards in the last two games making quarterback Tajh Boyd’s job look easy.

When you have a guy like him with space, he’s going to have an opportunity to make plays,” Boyd said of Watkins. “Sammy did an unbelievable job. You kind of just got to throw your arm up and he will have a chance to get the ball.”

Fully verified Winning betting system, since 1999  Vip picks

The combination of Boyd and Watkins has helped the Tigers average 39.8 points a game to rank 15th in the FBS and in their last two games have out-gained Maryland and Virginia 1,150-641 in total offense.

That’s what we plan on doing, keep finishing and staying healthy,” Watkins said. “We need to go out with a bang and have fun. This is what it is all about here in November. You got to show everyone that you’re a top 10 team now and not just in September.”

With the way the Tigers have been playing since their lone defeat to Florida State, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson knows he will have his hands full with Clemson.

It’s certainly going to be a big challenge on Thursday night,” said Johnson. “Clemson is a tough place to play and they’ve got a lot of explosive athletes. .. We look at it as an opportunity to go in and measure ourselves as a team and see if we’ve made the progress we feel we’ve made in the past couple of weeks.”

The Tigers may be going in as the favorite with a (minus) -10.5 at home, but Georgia Tech has some offensive fire-power of their own with a bruising running game that averages 311.2 yards out of the triple option.

They also have a defense that allows only 103.4 rushing yards against… good for 10th in all of college football.

The Yellow Jackets (6-3, 5-2 ACC) with a win on Thursday can clinch at least a share of the Coastal Division title but it hasn’t been easy as Georgia Tech has followed a three-game losing streak with three straight wins, outscoring opponents 112-35 in that span.

We’re a team that’s fairly physical. We run the ball pretty good an defend the run pretty good,” Johnson said. “When we do the things that we do well and take care of the ball, we could be a tough out.”

Thursday night’s game will be well played, but the spread dictates the failures of Georgia Tech to beat a Top 25 team, where they have lost seven in a row and the Tigers have beaten unranked opponents 26 consecutive times at home by an average of 23.6 points.

It seems like a safe bet on Clemson come Thursday night, but feel free to check the latest lines here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

PICK: Clemson

NCAA College Football Game Preview/Pick- #19 UCLA vs. Arizona

ncaa free football picks

Free NCAA Pick and Prediction for week 11 game UCLA vs Arizona

#19 UCLA Bruins (6-2) @ Arizona Wildcats (6-2) 11/09- 10:00PM EST

Line: UCLA -1.0

Over/Under: 56.0

The No. 19 ranked UCLA Bruins will look to stay on track after last week’s win at home against Colorado (45-23) following back-to-back losses against No. 5 Stanford and No. 3 Oregon and end their four-game losing streak in Tucson against the (6-2, 3-2 Pac 12) Arizona Wildcats on Saturday night.

The challenge this week will be to find a way to stop the nation’s leading rusher Ka’Deem Carey who leads the FBS in rushing this season with 153.1 yards per game. In his last 11 games, Carey has rushed for 1,986 yards with 20 touchdowns.

Carey is expected to hit his average again on Saturday night as the Bruins rank eighth in the Pac 12, allowing 167.6 rushing yards per game.

In last year’s meeting at the Rose Bowl, the Bruins blew-out the Wildcats 66-10 racking up 611 yards of offense on 36 first downs on an Arizona team ranked 24th going in.

It’s painful to watch but we have to,” Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said. ‘We didn’t play well, and they played well so it was a very poor performance on our part in all three phases. We have to watch it to learn what we need to get better at and how they may attack us.”

Last year’s game also marked the last time Carey failed to rush for 100 yards gaining only 54 yards on 16 carries.

UCLA coach Jim Mora however, doesn’t put too much stock on the defensive performance his Bruins put on Carey last season because of the early lead of the Bruins, 21-0.

I think they probably had to throw it more than they probably wanted to,” Mora said. “You don’t necessarily bottle up Ka’Dem Carey. You try to limit his explosive plays against you.— You don’t just don’t stop those guys. It’s going to be a great test for us.”

Bruin linebacker Eric Kendricks (shoulder) will be back in action to help the defense try to contain Carey as he leads the team with 65 tackles.

Despite the Bruins having lost on their last four visits to Arizona and having lost the last two road games this year, the oddsmakers have the Bruins (6-2, 3-2) as the favorites with a (minus) -1.0 come Saturday night.

Against Colorado last week, UCLA was able to find its offense again recording 412 yards after totaling only 549 yards with 24 points in the previous two games.

It’s a relief, but our confidence was never lost,” said UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley. “Obviously, I know and we know that we can still get the job done. I feel like this team can really respond well, no matter what we go through.”

If they Bruins can play like they are capable of playing, I like their chances of snapping their losing streak in Tucson where they have not won since Oct. 11, 2003 by a 24-21 score.

The Bruins have played exceptionally well at home outscoring opponents 199-66, compared to a 114-99 margin on the road, so the Bruins will need an all-around effort Saturday to pull out a victory.

The spread is too close for comfort for me to touch, but pick the Bruins as slight favorites. You can stay up to date on Wonder Punter for any changes in the betting lines leading up to game time Saturday night 10:00PM EST.

I expect this to be one of the better games on College Football Saturday.

NBA Game Recap- Heat Lose Again

heat

Miami Heat- 100

Brooklyn Nets – 101

Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson each score 19 points each for the Nets on Friday night to help halt a 13-game losing skid at the hands of Miami and give the Heat their first back-to-back lose since January 2013.

It was good that we got a taste of this type of atmosphere this early in the season to try to see where we’re at,” Pierce said. “Miami, whenever they come into town, they’re a measuring stick for everybody, so it was good for us to come out and get the win.”

As the Heat were trying to stage a furious comeback, Pierce and Johnson each hit two free throws to secure the win and drop Miami to 1-2.

After being down 11 points most of the fourth quarter, the Heat scored 10 unanswered points with seconds left to make it close before Brooklyn closed them out.

What you’ve done in the past doesn’t mean you can make it happen in the present, so we’ve just got to have a little more sense of urgency,” James said. “It’s not doomsday right now. We’re good, but we understand what we need to fix and correct.”

Brooklyn had suffered 13 straight losses to the Heat since their last victory over them on March 20, 2009.

You don’t want to have those types of losing streaks to any franchise,” said Nets point guard Deron Williams. “so it was definitely on our mind.”

Miami’s Dwayne Wade (21 points) returned to action after missing the Philadelphia game in which the Heat also lost.

This ain’t nothing new. We’ve dealt with this before. This storyline continues,” Wade said. “At the end of the day, we want to play better. We would love to play better, obviously the start, the first and the third, but we had a chance to win the game. We have to find a way to pull it out.”

This was a big and important win for the Nets who last year got swept by the Heat by an average of 21 points, so now with a new look lineup of Pierce and Kevin Garnett added to the mix to complement Deron Williams… Brooklyn now has a legitimate shot to challenge the Heat throughout the season.

The “Big Three” of James, Wade and Bosh scored 64 points while the bench play of Brooklyn outscored the Miami bench 36-22.

NFL Monday Night Preview/Pick- Bears vs. Packers

Bears-Packers-NFC-Game

NFL Monday Night Preview/Pick- Bears vs. Packers

Chicago Bears (4-3) @ Green Bay Packers (5-2) 11/04- 8:30PM EST

Line: GB -10.5

Over/Under: 50.5

The Chicago Bears will have their work cut out for them on Monday night as they travel into Lambeau Field to try to end a six-game losing streak to a team that has also has won four-straight at home… the Green Bay Packers.

The hurdle facing the Bears is that they will be without the services of quarterback Jay Cutler and linebacker Lance Briggs.

Green Bay (5-2) has won six in a row against Chicago (4-3) and five straight meetings at Lambeau and will look to open the gap in the NFC North.

Aaron Rodgers is 9-2 against the Bears and seems to be hitting his stride after a slow start to start the season.

Chicago comes off a bye week having lost three of its last four and will be without Cutler (groin) and Briggs (shoulder). Cutler is expected back soon where Briggs is expected to still miss more then a month.

We really have to play together more then ever now,” coach Marc Trestman said. “And I think that’s something that we’re capable of doing.”

Despite the Bears being without their two top players, Green Bay is not taking them for granted.

We need to prepare and stay focused on our opponent and the changes they’ve made,” Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said. “At the end of the week, we want to make sure we’re focused on winning and that our quality of play is as high as possible.”

Veteran quarterback Josh McCown will be making his first start for the Bears since the 2011 season where he went 1-1.

Josh is going to do the job,” Cutler said. “We’ve got a good game plan coming in. Josh fared well against (Washington). He’ll play well again this week.”

McCown will rely on his best weapons for a balanced attack such as running back Matt Forte and receiver Brandon Marshall to help put some points on the board and take some of the pressure off a banged-up defense.

Green Bay has had their share of injuries on the offensive side of the ball missing receivers Randall Cobb, James Jones and tight-end Jermichael Finley but yet has continued to dominate offensively with Jordy Nelson and rookie running back Eddie Lacy.

We’ve got a great team, very well-coached.,” Rodgers said. “Guys are ready to play.”

Lacy has been a bright-spot for the Packers running game this season averaging 98.8 yards in his last four.

They’re statistics,” McCarthy said. “There’s one statistic that counts (winning the Super Bowl) and we’re working our way toward it, and we’re a long way from it.

Running the ball’s part of it.”

I expect another well played game from the Packers on Monday night taking advantage of the depleted Chicago Bears with their injuries to the defensive side of the ball and no Jay Cutler.

NFL Picks Sunday Night Preview & Predictions – Colts vs. Texans

Houston Texans v Indianapolis Colts

NFL Picks Sunday Night Preview & Predictions – Colts vs. Texans

Indianapolis Colts (5-2) @ Houston Texans (2-5) 11/03- 8:30PM EST

Line: IND -1.0

Over/Under: 44.0

Sunday night’s game was supposed to match two football teams that would be contending for an AFC South division title, but instead it’s been a one-team race as the Indianapolis Colts (5-2) will look to continue to run away with the division.

The Colts biggest challenge here on out will be trying to keep the offense moving with their All-Pro receiver Reggie Wayne out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.

Houston is in the midst of a five-game losing streak and headed into a downward spiral averaging only 12.2 points over the last five games.

There’s a saying—to be the champ, you got to beat the champ. They’re the champ,” linebacker Robert Mathis said, “In order to get it back, we’ve just got to go down there and handle our business. I’ve been a part of some division championship teams. They’re focused and they want it, it’s just a matter of taking care of business.

Make no mistake about it, we’re not looking at their record because they are the two-time AFC South champions and we respect them as such.”

Colt’s quarterback Andrew Luck will be looking to Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton to pick up their game in place of Reggie Wayne.

Though the Texans are 2-5, they have the top-ranked defense in total yards allowed with an average of 267.7 yards—145.6 passing.

They’ve got game-wreckers all over the place. They’ve got a front seven that is good as anybody in football. They’ve got probably the best defensive player in J.J. Watt, coach Chuck Pagano said.

Houston will be without Brian Cushing, who tore his left ACL for the second straight season.

We had to adjust to that last year,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “We’ll have to do that again. J.J. is already a leader, but I think it’s going to call for some other guys to be vocal. I think (middle linebacker) Joe Mays has got more confidence in what he’s doing.

Unfortunately, we’ve been down this road before and some guys will have to step up..”

Houston will look to Case Keenum to lead the offense for a second straight game in place of a healthy Matt Schaub.

I’ve got to make decisions I think are the best for the football team right now,” Kubiak said. “The decision I made was based on what I saw take place last week with Case and him taking advantage of an opportunity. I want to see him move forward.”

Houston will rely on a running game against the 29th ranked Colts defense against the run, however, Arian Foster (hamstring) is doubtful and back-up Ben Tate (rib) is probable which will dictate how successful a night they will have against the Colts.

Despite the Texans record, I like their defense and without Reggie Wayne in the Colt’s line-up… I like the Texans chances of a possible upset, but still see the Colts winning close.

My NFL Prediction for this weeks game PICK: Indianapolis Colts

NFL Thursday Night Recap- Dolphins Win In OT

 dolphpins

The Miami Dolphins defense delivered with a big safety in OT to help snap a four-game losing streak and get back in the hunt for a playoff spot after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 22-20 on Thursday night.

With Cincinnati pinned back deep in their own zone, Cameron Wake sacked Andy Dalton with 6:38 left in overtime to give the Dolphins a much needed victory.

We called a pressure, and the guys executed it well,” coach Joe Philbin said. “Cam had good pressure throughout the game and he made a play to end

the game.”

My eyes were downfield, and he was there pretty quick,” Dalton said.

Wake may have had three sacks on the night, but the Bengals were their own worst enemy with four turnovers on the night.

You just have to do whatever you can to get to the quarterback,” Wake said. “It couldn’t have come at a better time. How much better could it have been than to have a d-lineman seal the deal?”

With the win, Miami (4-4) avoided losing their fifth in a row after starting the season 3-0.

You never want to lose four games in a row,” coach Joe Philbin said, “and we had an excellent football team coming into town. It was time for us to step up and we had to make a decision—what are we going to be? And I thought they answered the bell pretty well tonight.”

Despite the loss, the Bengals (6-3) still maintain a two-game lead in the AFC North, but lost All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins in the second quarter to a season-ending torn ACL.

The Bengals were already without their other Pro-Bowler, left tackle Andrew Whitworth (right knee).

This was the third time an NFL game has ended with a safety, the last being in 2004.

I don’t think anyone expected the game to end on a safety,” Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill said.

Cincinnati dominated the game statistically in first downs, total plays, yards and time of possession, but give the football up four times in a game and it’s hard to win… and the Bengals found that out on Thursday night.

NFL Thursday Night Recap- Panthers Roll

bucs

NFL Thursday Night Recap- Panthers Roll

For the first time in five-long years, the surging Carolina Panthers are over .500 thanks in part to the play of Cam Newton who threw for another two touchdowns on Thursday night as the Panthers (4-3) took care of the winless Buccaneers (0-7) on the road 31-13.

Cam Newton has led the Panthers to three straight wins (four-out-of-five) while throwing for 667 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Newton went 23-of-32 for 221 yards, two touchdowns passes, ran for another and the third-year quarterback looks very much like the quarterback who took the league by storm in his rookie year.

Carolina is enjoying being over .500 for the first time since 2008… that year they finished 12-4.

For Tampa Bay (0-7), their dreadful season continues as they have now lost the first seven games to start a season for the seventh time in franchise history and many fans are asking for the head of second-year head coach Greg Schaino to be fired.

Tampa Bay rookie quarterback Mike Glennon started his fourth NFL game and did a descent job with 30/51- 275 yards passing, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Unfortunately, the Buccaneers lack the offensive talent to stay competitive and being without top running back Doug Martin makes the Bucs a one-dimensional team relying on the pass to survive.

Glennon has thrown 181 times in his first four games… a record for a quarterback in the first four games of a career.

Carolina will look to keep the hot-streak alive next Sunday as they host the visiting Atlanta Falcons, while Tampa Bay must travel cross-country to take on the Seattle Seahawks to try to snap their losing streak.

NCAA Prediction College Football Preview & Pick- Tennessee vs. #1 Alabama

alabama

NCAA Prediction College Football Preview & Pick- Tennessee vs. #1 Alabama

Tennessee Volunteers (4-3) @ #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0) 10/26- 3:30PM EST

Line: ALA -28.0

Over/Under: 51.0

The Tennessee Volunteers (4-3, 1-2 SEC) fresh off their home upset victory last week against #11 South Carolina will be looking to shock another opponent, but this time on the road and this time against a more difficult football team… the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC).

Last weeks victory for the Vols over South Carolina was their first win in 20 games over a ranked team, and at stake this week is trying to end a 10-game road losing streak dating back to Nov. 2010.

Despite the win last week for the Vols, coach Butch Jones realizes there is still work to be done to continue to build what was once a proud football program at Tennessee.

First of all you shouldn’t need any motivation,” Jones said. “You’re playing the best of the best in the country. The next evolution of this football team is learning how to win on the road.

We have to go on the road and play in some great hostile environments. Everything is your preparation and being mentally tough.”

To have any chance of upsetting the top-ranked Tide, the Vols need better play form their quarterback Justin Worley, has struggled in Tennessee’s two road games this year and will be facing a Crimson Tide defense that yields an average of only 176.7 passing yards a game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Tennessee will need to be locked-in on Alabama’s rushing attack who rely heavily on the running game, a trademark of Bama coach Nick Saban.

Nick Saban’s three national championship teams have all been first or second in the Southeastern Conference with a run-oriented offense and Saban will look to T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake to carry the momentum against the Vols who go in averaging 271.5 yards per game over the last four football games.

On Yeldon and Drake… Saban says, “ I think those two guys have played well. Both tailbacks complement each other in terms of their style. One guy’s a little bit faster (Drake). The other guy’s more of an inside, make you miss, hard to tackle.”

I think the change of pace that the two guys complement each other with is really something that’s good for our team. I think it’s good for both of them as well.”

Alabama holds a six-game win streak over the Vols in which they are averaging 174.5 rushing yards with 13 TDs.

Tennessee is near the bottom in the SEC allowing an average of 181.7 yards per game.

If that wasn’t enough, the Vols must worry about the efficiency of quarterback AJ McCarron who has thrown for 14 touchdowns , with no picks over the past three games.

Alabama will have free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix back after a two-game suspension to strengthen the Crimson Tide defense even more.

Look for Alabama to have their way with Tennessee on Saturday. The Vols are building, but still not ready to contend with a potent Crimson Tide team.

My NCAA Prediction for Saturday´s game Tennessee v. Alabama  is:

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

NCAA College Football Recap- #11 South Carolina Falls

south

NCAA College Football Recap- #11 South Carolina Falls

Tennessee Vols coach Butch Jones picked up his first Southeastern Conference victory as Vols kicker Michael Palardy made a 19-yard field goal as time expired shocking #11 South Carolina Gamecocks 23-21 in Knoxville.

Tennessee’s win broke a 19-game losing streak against ranked opponents, their first since also defeating the #21 Gamecocks 31-13 back in 2009. The Vols had also lost 16 of their last 18 SEC games.

The winning field goal was set-up by Tennessee freshman Marquez North who made a spectacular 39-yard one handed grab at the South Carolina 26, followed by four consecutive runs by Marlin Lane to get the ball down to the South Carolina 2 and set up the winning field goal.

With the win, Tennessee now goes to 4-3, 1-2 in the SEC, while South Carolina falls to 5-2, 3-2 in the SEC.

South Carolina was down 17-7 at the half, but thanks in part to running back Mike Davis rushing for 137 yards and one touchdown, they were able to get back into the game as quarterback Conner Shaw was ineffective completing only 7-of-21 for 161 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Shaw left the game with less then five-minutes remaining after suffering a sprained knee due to being sacked by Marlon Walls and Daniel McCullers.

Saturday’s win was big for a Tennessee football program looking to get back to the glory days of winning football in the nation’s toughest conference, the Southeastern Conference.

South Carolina out gained the Vols on Saturday 384-325, but the Gamecocks committed two-turnovers to the Vols none.

Gotta love college football as yet another Top 25 team falls by the wayside.

NFL Scores Monday Night Game Recap- Jets vs. Falcons

NFL Scores 2013 8th October Monday night game recap – Jets vs Falcons

All signs pointed to the Falcons winning on Monday and snapping their two game losing streak with the Jets starting a rookie quarterback on the road who has struggled to find his way in the NFL thus far this season.

But, New York Jets’ (3-2)quarterbackGeno Smith looked anything but like a rookie guiding the Jets to a winning drive and beating the slumping Atlanta Falcons (1-4) 30-28 in the final seconds.

Jets-Hero

Geno Smith played his best game of his young career, 16-20, 199 yards and three touchdowns. Most importantly.. no interceptions. Smith had an NFL leading 11 turnovers, including eight interceptions going into Monday night’s game.

Smith orchestrated a two-minute drive after the Falcons took the lead 28-27 with just 1:54 left on the clock.

I’ve been in this situation before time and time again,” Smith said. “My confidence is always sky-high. Nothing can bring me down. I’m just going to continue to work. And we’re putting this one behind us. We’re getting on that bus, we’ll enjoy it for a little bit, then get back to work.”

He’s a rookie,” Atlanta safety William Moore said, “and we make him look like a 10-year veteran.”

The Jet’s Nick Folk hit a 43-yard winning field goal on the final play as time expired.

The Atlanta Falcons who were considered Super Bowl contenders at the beginning of the season are now in a three-game skid.

Atlanta’s red-zone offense failed them once more in the first half when they failed to score on forth-and-goal from the one yard line. Time expired and the Falcons walked into the locker room at half to a chorus of boos.

The Atlanta Falcons who are suffering their longest losing streak since the 2007 season now head into a bye week scratching their heads without answers.

Falcon quarterback Matt Ryan ended the night, 36 of 45, 319 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions. For more recaps and NFL Scores please select from the options above this page
