The Miami Heat, losers of five of their last six games will try to get it together against a tough Houston Rockets team on Sunday afternoon in what has the makings of a great game.

The Heat (44-19) are experiencing their worst funk in three years and it couldn’t come at a worst time as they are trying to catch the Indiana Pacers for the top-spot in the Eastern Conference which will give them home court advantage through-out the playoffs in the East. They will be hard pressed to secure the best record in the NBA as of now with the season winding down unless they can go on a serious run.

Their loss on Friday night to visiting Denver was a hard pill to swallow given the fact that the Nuggets are not expected to make the playoffs.

Something is off, obviously,” Heat guard Dwayne Wade said.

Just not playing well,” four-time NBA MVP LeBron James added.

With just 19 games left in the season and a race to the finish between the Heat and Pacers, Miami needs to figure it out quick.

Five out of six, to our standards, that’s unacceptable,” forward Chris Bosh added. “We know we’re better than this. We have to do a better job. We have to have better urgency.”

It seemed not to long ago, the Heat were on a tear winning eight straight and 14 of 16 to challenge for the NBA’s best record but now are looking to put anything together and build some momentum.

Fittingly enough, Miami’s slump started with a 106-103 loss to the Rocket’s back on March 4and now will be trying to end it against the very same team who go in having lost two consecutive games of their own.

Houston (44-21) has lost to Oklahoma City and Chicago on this road trip and will be trying to avoid losing three-in-a-row for the first time all year.

And with a 4-0 record following back-to-back losses, they have to like their chances going up against the two-time defending champions looking to find their way again.

Despite Miami’s recent play of late, no one on the team is in panic mode just yet and know they just have to go out and play the type of basketball they are capable of.

We just have to take it on the chin and stay in the fight,” Bosh said. “We’re going to do that. We’re going to turn this thing around and we’re going to make a championship run. That’s going to be it, because we have to.”

Oddsmakers feel the Heat can get it done Sunday afternoon making the Heat a (minus -4.0) point favorite, but get the latest spread on the game up until game time right here at Wonder Punter.

Something as to give between these two teams who will be both coming out with a sense of urgency but it will come down to who wants it more and I have to favor the Heat to finally get out of their slump and win in a good game come Sunday.

The Miami Heat will try to bounce back from an ugly loss at the hands of the lowly Utah Jazz as they take on the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.

The Heat suffered a 94-89 loss to one of the NBA’s worst teams on Saturday night, a night that saw LeBron James endure his worst shooting performance of the season as he went just 4 of 13 with 13 points.

It was just one of those games where offensively we were out of rhythm and you try to win on the defense end,” James said.

James also did not get much help from anyone else in a Heat uniform as the team struggled to put the rock in the net shooting 43.3 percent for the game but only 11 for 30 (36.7) in the second half. Chris Bosh also had a disappointing night going a dismal 3 of 12 for 13 points.

We didn’t shoot the ball well like we are capable of doing,” James said. “We had some great looks, including myself, some really open looks.”

Miami (35-14) was riding a three game win streak prior to the unexpected loss to the Jazz but they expect a better all around game as they take on a Phoenix Suns team they have dominated in the past winning 10 of 11, including a 107-92 home win back on Nov. 25.

James has been lights out against Phoenix in his last seven games averaging 32.4 points on 55.1 percent shooting. In his last game versus the Suns, James could do no wrong as he went 11 of 14 with 35 points on a season-best 78.6 shooting percentage.

Dwayne Wade joined in on the fun in that 15 point blowout with 21 points and 12 assists.

For Phoenix (30-20), they will be looking for their second straight victory after beating a tough Golden State team 122-109 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Point guard Goran Dragic took over late in the fourth quarter against the Warriors scoring 13 of his 34 points—a career high. Dragic has been the go-to man over his last seven games averaging 26.9 points while shooting 62.7 percent and from behind the arc is 19 of 30.

Shooting guard Gerald Green bounced back from a three game shooting slump (9-33) going for 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting in their win over Golden State.

These guys were sharp,” coach Jeff Hornacek said. “The one thing I told them, especially that fourth quarter, they played smart.”

But, if the Suns expect to turn things around against the Heat on Tuesday night, they will need a total team effort as the oddsmakers have made the Heat a (minus -4.0) point favorite in Phoenix…. a place they have won five straight times. Remember to get the latest spread on the game up until game time right here at Wonder Punter.

With the Heat scoring 104.0 points per game and the Suns averaging 105.1 points per contest, it will come down to the team that wants to play defense, and I feel that team will be the Miami Heat. Both teams are 7-3 over their last 10 games and I expect a good one but I will go with the Heat to win in a close one and predict the big three of James, Wade and Bosh to play an all-around great game.

The only significant injury is PG Eric Bledsoe, who has been out since Feb. 8.

On Thursday night, the injury riddled Lakers will travel into Miami in the midst of a season-high seven game road trip to take on the Miami Heat, a team that is 3-2 in their last five but plays great at home in a rematch from Christmas Day.

The Heat (30-12) are coming off a disappointing road trip that saw them go 2-2… disappointing in the sense that we expect more from the two-time defending champs. Overall the Heat, had gone 2-4 in their last six games that saw their defense struggle giving up an average of 103.8 points per game in that span before putting the defensive clamps on the Boston Celtics winning 93-86 on Tuesday night at home. The defense bounced back nicely holding the Celtics to just 39.3 percent shooting on the night.

Even if it wasn’t perfect, the possessions meant something to us, the mistakes meant something to us,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra told the NBA’s official website. “It starts with that type of pride in our defense.”

This season the Heat is giving up 98.5 points per game, which is up from their 2011-12 season mark of 92.5 and last season’s 95.0 points per contest. Defense wins games and championships and the Heat this season is 25-1 when holding opponents to under 100 points.

It’s the only way we’re going to be able to win games, if we defend,” LeBron James said.

Miami has been without the services of Dwayne Wade for the last three games, who has been hobbled throughout the year with sore knees. The Heat are 6-6 in his absence this season and his status for Thursday is questionable.

It’s difficult doing what we do,” Chris Bosh said. “But that’s why we’re the champs, to do the difficult thing again and get the job done. Tonight was a good start. We just have to build off it.”

And keeping it going for the Heat with the Lakers (16-26), a team that has been hammered with injuries all year, especially at the point guard position, they have to like their chances.

Miami has won three straight and seven and their last eight over the Lakers in the series, including a 103-95 victory back in Los Angeles on Christmas Day.

No Kobe Bryant, no Steve Nash, no Jordan Farmar, no Steve Blake, no Xavier Henry…. injury after injury, a team full ‘whos-who’ it seems like, but they are playing hard and that’s all we can ask for as a fan. Bryant will have his knee re-evaluated next week with hopes of a return date soon to follow.

It’s a good test for us. The Lakers are a really good team, too. They’re just in an unbelievable conference,” James said. And with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder visiting the Heat to follow the Lakers on Thursday… “Obviously we know what the Spurs and OKC are all about. We’re looking forward to playing against these three teams, but it starts with the Lakers, and then we go from there.”

The Lakers are just 3-13 in their last 16 games and 2-2 on this “Grammy Awards” road trip, but gave away Monday’s game to the Bulls, allowing a buzzer beater layup bucket to lose 102-100 in overtime.

It’s heartbreaking,” said guard Nick Young. “We felt like we were competing and was in it. That’s all we can ask for.”

It’s going to take a another full team effort and hard play from the Lakers if they want to leave South Beach with an upset win on Thursday as the oddsmakers have made the home Heat a huge (minus -12.0) point favorite, but get the latest spread on the game up until tip-off right here at Wonder Punter.

Nick Young has played well off the bench this year and Pau Gasol has stayed hot over his last five games averaging 22.0 points with 12.4 boards but has been ineffective against the Heat over his last three games averaging just 12.0 points.

But, without Kobe and Nash, it’s been tough going for the Lakers, despite playing hard.

It just makes it harder,” coach Mike D’Antoni said. “The biggest thing is how to finish games off because you know where you’re going if they’re on the floor. You’ve got to figure that out.”

As mentioned before, the Lakers will need to play their best to have any chance on Thursday and with the challenge of being in the middle of a long road trip, the odds are against them. If they don’t come out with energy early… the game may get ugly quick and it will be a long night. In the end, too much talent on the Heat to lose this one at home.

Are The Knicks Back? Melo's Future With The Knicks

Melo's Future With The Knicks

NEW YORK – They don't look like the lowly losers of last month. The New York Knicks are playing as if it's last season – when they even had mighty Miami's number.Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points, Andrea Bargnani had 19, and the Knicks beat the Heat 102-92 on Thursday night for their season-high third straight victory.

"You can tell it's different than one month ago, " Bargnani said. "Our faces are different, our body language is different. "

Raymond Felton had 13 points and 14 assists for the Knicks, who seized control with a 16-2 run spanning the third and fourth quarters and beat the Heat for the fourth time in five meetings over the last two seasons.New York was second to Miami in the Eastern Conference last season when it won the series 3-1, but there was little reason to suggest until recently the Knicks were ready to compete with the NBA champions this season. New York is 13-22 but has won four of five in 2014, with victories over San Antonio and Miami – last season's NBA finalists.

"It wasn't going to last all season like that, " Felton said. "We were just going through a slump, now I feel like we're out of it. "

With Tyson Chandler out sick and J. R. Smith stuck on the bench as an apparent punishment, Amar'e Stoudemire had 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.LeBron James scored 32 points for the Heat, who played without injured starters Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier and didn't get much from Chris Bosh, who was held to six points on 3-of-10 shooting.

"All I know about this game is they outplayed us and they earned that win, " Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Dwyane Wade scored 23 points but missed all six free throws after sitting out the morning shootaround as Miami had its three-game winning streak snapped.

"I only missed six, " Wade said. "I didn't miss 20. It wasn't that damn bad. "

Smith didn't play after the reigning Sixth Man of the Year's latest trouble, a $50, 000 fine when he attempted to untie an opponent's sneaker for the second straight game, after he'd been warned by the NBA not to do it again. Knicks coach Mike Woodson criticized Smith's behavior during a radio interview Wednesday but said before the game he wouldn't discuss Smith any longer.

But the benching did the speaking for him. Smith often stood far away from the huddle during timeouts, but his teammates sure didn't miss him on the court.

Woodson again wouldn't comment after the game, but no Knicks player, not even Smith, seemed to know he wouldn't play.

"I didn't know anything about it, " Smith said. "I expected to do the same thing I always do. I did my same routine and it didn't happen. "

Though the roster is different and the results are way worse, Woodson said before the game he believed the things that worked so well against the Heat last season could still do so, and for this night he was right as New York shot 54 percent from the field.

"We're moving forward, " Anthony said. "We're taking strides. We're getting better. We're learning from our mistakes we've made in the past and we're going to continue to build on this and see what happens. "

The Knicks surged into the lead late in the third. Bargnani answered back quickly after James blew by him for a dunk, converting a three-point play to tie it and ignite a 9-0 spurt that helped New York lead 75-71 entering the final 12 minutes.

New York ran off seven in a row to open the fourth, making it 82-71 on Stoudemire's basket, and there was never really a run for the Heat, who couldn't get closer than five from there.

"They played a great game, " James said. "They made some timely shots. "

The Heat were opening a six-game trip, but the start of it couldn't be more convenient. They are just a few miles away Friday to visit Brooklyn in a game in which players from both teams will wear nicknames on their jerseys.

But the best they can do is salvage a New York split, even after shooting 54 percent in this one.

Miami scored the final seven points of the first quarter to take a 27-21 lead. The Knicks scored 11 in a row early in the second, but Rashard Lewis made two 3-pointers from the corner in the final 1: 11 to help the Heat grab a 48-43 halftime edge.

Heat post season-high 122 in rout of Kings

“I think we’re picking and choosing our spots pretty good right now, ” Bosh said. “We’re doing a really good job of seeing where we can be aggressive and it’s working out. If we can continue to pick and choose our spots, keep moving the ball like normal, then things will work out. ”

DeMarcus Cousins led Sacramento with 27 points and eight rebounds in 32 minutes. McLemore scored 20 and Rudy Gay added 14 for Sacramento, which has now dropped the first three games of its four-game trip.

“It’s a great learning experience for me as a rookie going out there and playing the great wings out there, ” McLemore said. “D-Wade especially and Ray Allen, a great shooter, and especially LeBron, it was a great challenge for me. ”

Of James’ dunk, McLemore said he was just trying to draw a charge.

“Just knowing LeBron, I knew they weren’t going to call that, ” he said, according to The Palm Beach Post. “I was just playing my defensive principles- going in, being the low man and taking the charge. Even though they didn’t call it, I didn’t let that stop me or mess my game up. I still went out there and did some things to help the team.

“I really don’t know what happened over there. I was just doing my defensive principles on the weakside low man. I just went over there to try to take the charge. He dunked the ball. Afterwards, I thought I should have fouled him. ”

Miami has now won 18 straight games over Western Conference opponents, two away from matching the longest regular-season streak ever posted by an Eastern Conference team. Boston won 20 straight over the West during a nine-month span of 1973.

Bosh had 12 points midway through the opening period, the Kings scored more points in the first quarter (36) than anyone had against the Heat since March 2011 and Miami had seven dunks in the first 15 minutes – two of them by Allen, who entered the season with exactly zero slams and had not dunked twice in the same game since February 2011.

The Heat had 29 baskets in the first half; 21 were either dunks, layups or tip-ins. There were 10 ties and nine lead changes in the half, one where no team ever led by more than seven.

By halftime, it was 67-61 Miami. The Kings shot 66. 7 percent in the half and were actually trailing, a somewhat odd and difficult feat.

Bosh, James, Wade and Shane Battier combined for 22 points on 9 for 14 shooting and Miami outscored Sacramento 31-21 in the third, building a 98-82 edgetake into the fourth. The Kings had five turnovers in that quarter, and Miami turned them into 11 points.

“Just taking care of business, ” Wade said.

Game notes

The games on Christmas Day will have teams wearing short-sleeved jerseys, which is getting mixed reviews in the Heat locker room. “I haven’t actually worked out in them too much. I know my shooters are already upset, ” James said… Wade has 24, 27, 32 and 20 points in his last four games, all Heat wins… Cousins shot 11 for 15 for the Kings, adding to his strong start this season… Sacramento gave the Heat 32 points off turnovers and was outscored 70-60 in the paint.

Heat erase 2nd-half deficit, take down Pacers

Heat Come Back To Beat Pacers

MIAMI – For so much of the night, just about everything was going wrong for the Miami Heat. They were missing every 3-pointer, arguing plenty of calls, even screaming at one another.

Then one quick burst changed everything.

Dwyane Wade scored 32 points, LeBron James added 24 on a sore left ankle, and Chris Bosh and Ray Allen connected on huge 3-pointers within a 31-second span down the stretch. It all added up to the Heat erasing a 15-point deficit in the final 18 minutes to beat the rival Indiana Pacers 97-94 on Wednesday.

“It shows we’re a team that’s been there before, ” Wade said. “No matter what the score is we always feel we have an opportunity to win the game. ”

So even when Indiana led 68-53 midway through third quarter, hope remained.

And even when James and Mario Chalmers were getting in a heated exchange during one particularly bleak stretch the Heat didn’t fall apart.

“It was a good win, ” James said. “Good, good, quality win against a very good team on our home floor. We had to overcome a lot. ”

Chalmers said after the game that the matter with James was forgotten. James, on Twitter, said he apologized.

Paul George scored 25 points for Indiana but missed a 3-pointer that would have tied it with 4 seconds left, and insisted afterward that he was fouled by James on the play.

“I went into my shot, got pushed in the back, I thought it was a foul, nothing was called, and we lost the game, ” George said. “Aside of that we still should have taken care of business. ”

David West had 23 points and Lance Stephenson added 13 for the Pacers, who have dropped two straight and saw their lead over Miami in the Eastern Conference trimmed to one game. Both teams have won against the other on their home floor this season, and Miami topped Indiana at home in Game 7 of the East finals a year ago.

“It’s December, ” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. “I think you have two great teams going at it. It’s going to be a fun series all season, the regular-season matchups, and hopefully we will both be able to reach a point in the playoffs where we can meet again. ”

Miami got the 15-point deficit down to five by the end of the third quarter, and was still down 92-85 when West scored with 3: 21 remaining.

Then, for the first time all night, the Heat put together a real run.

The Heat scored the next 10 points – Bosh’s 3-pointer, his first in 15 attempts, tied it at 92. And after George missed in the lane at the other end, James brought the ball the other way and found Allen for a 3-pointer that put the Heat ahead for the first time since the score was 14-13.

They didn’t trail again.

“I was encouraged by our ability to stay focused and show some resolve in the second half, ” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but you have to make enough plays.. and a lot of times against this opponent it has to be like that, where it’s not smooth and you have to make enough plays to just give yourself a chance in the end. ”

The Pacers had a chance at the lead late, but it went awry when George Hill turned the ball over on a pass with 14 seconds left. Allen made two free throws with 10. 3 seconds remaining to put Miami up by three, and that capped the scoring.

Pacers center Roy Hibbert got his fourth foul early in the third, and Vogel opted to leave him in the game. The gamble appeared to backfire 46 seconds later when Hibbert picked up his fifth with 8: 34 remaining in the quarter.

LeBron James

LeBron James’ bad ankle didn’t keep him from 24 points and some high-flying moves vs. the Pacers.

Hibbert went to the bench – but the Pacers didn’t miss a beat.

George made three free throws after getting hit beyond the arc by Chalmers to put Indiana up 66-51 midway through the third, and the Pacers’ lead was still 14 with 4: 17 left in the period.

“They stole the game from us, ” West said.

Even though the teams won’t see each other again until March, andthe particular playoffs still 50-something games aside, there was clearly a little more meaning to this one.

James was questionable because of a bad ankle, the one he twisted in Monday’s win over Utah. Vogel was questionable because of bad spaghetti – at least, he thinks that’s what caused a quick bout with illness that set in after he dined Tuesday night.

By game time, both pronounced themselves ready.

Game notes

Pacers F

Danny Granger

, who has played in just five games since the start of last season because of injuries, will practice Thursday and is set to return to the lineup… Neither team has topped 100 points in the last six meetings, including playoff games.

A game keep away from pitting the two-time defending winners against the team with the worst report in the West wouldn't seem all that very likely to conjure some NBA Finals remembrances.

Then Adam lost his headband, and once once again, everything started to click for the Temperature.

Just like within Game 6 of the Finals towards San Antonio this past June, whenever James had his terrycloth item knocked to the court, something simply seemed to change about his sport. Miami was up only 3 points when James went with no headband, and the lead was as much as 13 later in the quarter.

He walked off the courtroom slowly, took a seat on the ground near the Heat bench and smacked his hand on the hardwood along with such anger that the hit might be heard halfway up the arena.

"He does it every year, " Bosh said. "This is definitely his time. It's usually in December, as well. Got that out of the way and now we are able to keep moving on. "

During the stoppage between the 3rd and fourth quarters, James did not even get up to join his teammates at first, remaining down with a bath towel over his head. He ultimately got to his feet, draping the particular towel around his neck plus largely keeping to himself, shrugging his shoulders when Bosh contacted to ask him something.

But he arrived for Wade midway through the 4th, finished the game, and the Heat cruised. Miami shot 68 percent right after halftime.

"I didn't feel like we were in that excellent of a flow, " Wade stated. "I guess the numbers confirm me wrong. "

Burks made 12 associated with 17 shots for the Jazz. Enes Kanter had 14 points plus eight rebounds for Utah, which usually led by as many as eight factors in the second quarter.

The Jazz wound up walking by as many as 25.

"They did what they do, inch Burks said. "They had fast-break plays and great stops in order to win the game. "

Norris Cole scored thirteen points and Mario Chalmers completed with 12 for Miami.

The clincher included 3: 10 left. James went right by Burks, threw lower a dunk while getting fouled plus made the ensuing free toss to get to 30 points and give the warmth a 109-90 lead.

All that remained undecided when this occurs was whether James would get one more triple-double. He wouldn't, leaving 1 rebound and one assist shy : the second straight game that's occurred.

It was the particular eighth time in James' career which he finished exactly one rebound then one assist shy of a triple-double.

“I’m going to a greater job of which, receive more rebounds. But it’s a group thing for a team. We don’t have a Kevin Love or Joakim Noah or Dwight Howard, those types of guys whom may receive we 15-plus, we need to do it as a collective group.”

LeBron, Heat handle Cavs, win 8th in a row

Warmth Top Cavaliers, Win Eighth Straight

CLEVELAND – LeBron James may finally be himself. He smiled easily, joked around and blew just a few kisses to the gang.

This journey residence was totally different than the others. There was much less pressure, fewer boos, nothing to worry.

This time, James virtually felt welcomed.

James scored 28 factors and appeared more relaxed than in previous games back in Cleveland, main the Miami Warmth to their eighth straight win, 95-84 over the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

He added eight rebounds and eight assists in his fifth sport as a customer towards the Cavs, the workforce that drafted him and the one he led to the NBA Finals earlier than leaving as a free agent three years in the past to chase NBA championships in Miami. James improved to eleven-1 against Cleveland.

Not like his previous 4 visits, James wasn’t the goal of nonstop booing or taunts. There wasn’t the hatred that crammed Quicken Loans Enviornment the primary time he came back on Dec. 2, 2010.

“It has been much less and fewer for the reason that first time I used to be right here,” said James, soaking his ankles in an ice bucket and drinking a postgame smoothie. “Nothing may be worse than that.”

Dwyane Wade added 22 factors and Michael Beasley 17 for Miami, which coasted during lengthy stretches and never appeared threatened.

Dion Waiters, the topic of commerce rumors, scored a season-high 24 and Kyrie Irving had sixteen for Cleveland.

The Heat opened a 15-level lead in the third and responded to each spurt by the Cavs, who obtained inside eight in the remaining two minutes.

James outscored Cleveland’s starters 28-26, and except for arguing a couple of calls with the officers that did not go his manner, the four-time MVP and two-time champ enjoyed his go to house as he reminded Cavaliers followers what they have been missing.

After the ultimate horn, James waved to some fans and tossed his headband and wrist bracelets into the crowd the way he always did when he performed in Cleveland.

“Of late, there have been some cheers here,” Wade said. “At the finish of the day, he is from Ohio. I believe some followers are proud of that.”

The Cavs, who came in to the season with playoff expectations, have misplaced four in a row and seven of eight. Six of their eleven losses have been by greater than 10 factors.

“Everyone else can write us off,” Irving mentioned. “However on this locker room, we believe in each other. We’re going to figure this out.”

The ambiance inside the world was subdued compared to James’ earlier journeys.

There was energy, however not the identical anger as many Clevelanders appear to have moved on and are more concerned with the struggling Cavs getting better than venting at James.

The disgust has decayed. This time it was a sport, not an occasion.

In reality, issues have cooled to the purpose that a group of fans have started a campaign to bring again James, who can decide out of his contract and turn out to be a free agent subsequent summer. The group handed out neon inexperienced “Come House LeBron” T-shirts exterior the arena earlier than the game.

He obtained the usual boos when he took the floor, but he was quickly blowing kisses to fans within the seats as he acknowledged acquainted faces and mates. Earlier than the opening tip, James pointed toward Cavs coach Mike Brown, who nodded toward a former player who has completed a lot of rising up.

James began slowly, scoring simply 3 factors within the first quarter, which ended with the Cavs leading 28-22.

He changed footwear between quarters, swapping a red pair for black ones. In numerous kicks, his recreation kicked into gear. He scored 9 factors within the second quarter, when the Heat turned up their defensive strain and held the Cavaliers to 14 factors on 5 of 25 capturing.

“I did not feel good early on, however once I acquired back into the sport I started feeling higher,” James stated. “In the second quarter I bought into some good rhythm. We started knocking down some photographs and I acquired some rebounds and steals.”

James seemed intent on ending his evening early. He scored Miami’s first eight points of the third and fed Chris Bosh for 2 layups. James dropped a three-pointer and his free throw gave the Heat their greatest lead at 68-fifty three.

The Cavs came in reeling following a 30-level beatdown in San Antonio on Saturday.

Adding to their disarray was a report that the club is trying to commerce Waiters, who denied he requested to be moved and insists he loves playing in Cleveland.

“It’s simply nonsense,” Waiters stated. “There’s been issues thrown out there that have not been true at all.”

LeBron hosting Heat for Ohio Thanksgiving

‘Carefree’ Method Serving to Warmth

MIAMI – LeBron James will have his favourite Thanksgiving meals – turkey, yams and macaroni and cheese – on his holiday desk Thursday.

Extra importantly, that table shall be surrounded by his favorite folks.

If an upside exists to the Miami Warmth having to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas on the street, a schedule quirk that the reigning NBA champions are not comfortable about, it’s that one of those swings is through Cleveland. Miami visits the Cavaliers on Wednesday and altered its postgame travel schedule so James could host Thanksgiving dinner at his northeast Ohio residence.

“We’d have liked to have been here for the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas being right here in Miami,” James stated. “We don’t mind playing on those holidays. Want we might have been here, but I am completely satisfied that I will do one thing for the workforce for Thanksgiving.”

James has tried to handle each detail, like telling the group to wear informal attire and asking Shane Battier which beer he desires with dinner. James’ wife and his chef will cut up the cooking duties.

“We’re not at house with our households for Thanksgiving, however it could not work out any higher that not less than we could be in another person’s home,” Miami’s Dwyane Wade mentioned. “And it’s a very good house that we’ll, so I am going to make sure I’ll placed on the correct garments and the suitable socks, gotta-take-your-sneakers-off-at-the-door kind of home.”

James’ earlier visits to play against the Cavaliers, a team he led to their solely NBA finals however then spurned as a free agent, have taken on circus-like atmospheres. And this one, on condition that he might choose to turn into a free agent once more this coming summer season, probably might be no totally different.

His first recreation in Cleveland was a hatefest as Cavs fans turned on the once adored superstar, booing his each move with unprecedented venom. This past March, James rallied the Heat from a 27-point deficit in the third quarter to beat the Cavs in a recreation that included a fan running on the ground carrying a T-shirt that said: “We Miss You, 2014 Come Back.”

That moment prompted Josh Raggi, a 24-12 months-previous real estate dealer, who like most Cavaliers fans felt betrayed by James’ departure, to take action to bring James house again.

Raggi and three partners – one them, James Blair, the fan who ran on the floor – launched “Come Residence LeBron,” a campaign to show James that northeast Ohio would not hate him. The group plans handy out T-shirts outdoors Quicken Loans Enviornment on Wednesday night. A “Come House LeBron” billboard went up near St. Vincent-St. Mary High Faculty, James’ beloved alma mater, on Monday.

“We’re not trying to beg him to come back,” Raggi said. “We want to show him that he could be welcomed back… Time has healed.”

The Warmth are conscious of the deliberate rallies, and James was tight-lipped about his thoughts.

“Heard about it,” stated James, who says he won’t speak about subsequent summer till it arrives. “Heard about it.”

Battier understands the place followers are coming from.

“If it was anyone else moreover LeBron, I might say no,” Battier said, asked whether or not free-agent lobbying this early is odd. “However he is type of previous the sublime degree. For someone else? Yes. It’s gone from the ridiculous to the sublime usually with LeBron.”

The identical can be said about his play.

He is a 4-time NBA MVP who is taking pictures 61 p.c from the field, forty nine percent from 3-point range and 80 p.c from the foul line, which puts him on career-best paces in each class.

Still, James contends he’s not fairly rolling.

“I am not there yet, but I am rounding the nook,” James said. “I am rounding third. I am feeling higher each week.”

Upon listening to that, Wade scoffed with a grin.

“He’s there now,” Wade said. “He is there. It is remarkable.”

James has shot 65 p.c or higher 5 instances in Miami’s first 14 games, together with an eleven-for-14 effort Monday against Phoenix.

“Expertise, his IQ, his understanding of our offense, understanding of how we wish to attack, that’s at an elite level – that’s at coaching stage,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra mentioned.

For that, Spoelstra is grateful.

For this crew, James is grateful. That’s why he’s rolling out the welcome mat Thursday.

“I am a terrific host,” James mentioned. “It’s natural for me. I don’t thoughts giving guys what they want – what they deserve.”

Heat stars admit to minor chemistry issues

MIAMI – Lower than every week into their second consecutive title defense, the Miami Warmth are already working by some early struggles affecting their lengthy successful union.

Having lost two of their first three games entering Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Wizards, Warmth stars Dwyane Wade and LeBron James admitted that some minor chemistry issues have contributed to the shaky begin.

WadeLet me provide you with an instance. If you happen to’re in a relationship with a girl for a long time, you start getting snug. You stop doing the little issues that you should do, that you just did at first. It is similar to a relationship. We obtained a little bit comfy. Now we now have to get back on that edge somewhat bit.

- Dwyane Wade

“Let me offer you an instance,” Wade said previous to Sunday’s recreation, which the Heat gained 103-93 to even their record at 2-2. “For those who’re in a relationship with a girl for a very long time, you start getting snug. You cease doing the little issues that it is best to do, that you just did in the beginning. It’s identical to a relationship. We obtained just a little comfortable. Now we have to get again on that edge a little bit bit.”

Neither Wade nor James referred to one another instantly, with both suggesting your entire team wanted time to get reacquainted coming off last season’s championship run.

After beating the Chicago Bulls final Tuesday following the ceremony to raise their 2012-13 championship banner, the Warmth had been stunned an evening later in a loss at Philadelphia after falling behind 19-0. Another sluggish start dropped Miami into a double-digit deficit Friday in Brooklyn, where the Warmth’s late rally got here up brief in a one hundred and one-one hundred loss to the Nets.

Along with the slow begins, turnovers also have been an issue for the Warmth to this point this season. Miami had given up seventy seven factors on 55 complete turnovers in its first three video games.

Each James and Wade entered the season saying their conditioning degree wasn’t the place they wished it, and that they would wish time to get their legs into game form. While Wade has been making an attempt to manage sore knees, James has been regularly increase his minutes after an offseason of intensive journey following his marriage.

Naturally, Wade’s feedback about relationship challenges raised eyebrows and drew a bit of laughter in the locker room as the Warmth prepared to face the Wizards.

“It’s simply getting again into it – not taking what we have for granted,” James stated moments later when advised of Wade’s comments. “We have been collectively so lengthy, you begin to think we are able to go out and make it happen instead of speaking via it. We lacked that the previous few video games. We received a deal with on it at the moment, and we all know what the problem is.”

Warmth coach Erik Spoelstra mentioned Sunday that the group met earlier within the day and mentioned a few of the issues which have led to its sluggish play. Instantly after Friday’s loss in Brooklyn, James mentioned the workforce wasn’t playing with enough urgency at the start of video games. Wade also stated the staff’s inconsistent play is proof that it nonetheless has plenty of improvements to make despite bringing again the majority of its rotation from last season’s championship.

Spoelstra mentioned earlier than Sunday’s game that the crew hasn’t played as a “linked” unit.

“The (previous) two games have been like filling holes in a dam,” Spoelstra said Sunday. “There have been so many things we have now not executed properly to start with of the game. Connected basketball is doing it where all 5 guys are on the same page. Defensively, we all know what we’re speaking about. There are times within the final two video games where we have now performed in addition to we presumably can. Then there are other possessions the place we are working into each other.”

The Heat have established a powerful track file of overcoming a few of these issues. After beginning 9-8 throughout their first season together in the 2010-eleven season, James and Wade won 21-of-22 games during a midseason stretch and advanced to the Finals before shedding to Dallas in six games.

Sluggish starts were also a priority the last two seasons, however the Warmth finally acquired going and gained again-to-again titles.

Adversity this early in the schedule isn’t a significant concern. Wade is assured the Warmth have the solution.

“Get back to speaking, speaking and having that connection, before it will get to that point where we get too distant from what we need to do,” Wade said. “Discuss it, knowing what you do fallacious and try to go out and correct it – once you get your subsequent alternative.”

James was on the identical web page with Wade’s evaluation.

“We’re not in panic mode right now,” James stated. “The best factor about our workforce is (when) we see something that must be fastened, we repair it. We get right into it. We do not let issues linger too much. We both sense it. We’ve all been collectively for some time, so we all know.”

NBA Game Recap- Heat Lose Again

Miami Heat- 100

Brooklyn Nets – 101

Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson each score 19 points each for the Nets on Friday night to help halt a 13-game losing skid at the hands of Miami and give the Heat their first back-to-back lose since January 2013.

It was good that we got a taste of this type of atmosphere this early in the season to try to see where we’re at,” Pierce said. “Miami, whenever they come into town, they’re a measuring stick for everybody, so it was good for us to come out and get the win.”

After being down 11 points most of the fourth quarter, the Heat scored 10 unanswered points with seconds left to make it close before Brooklyn closed them out.

What you’ve done in the past doesn’t mean you can make it happen in the present, so we’ve just got to have a little more sense of urgency,” James said. “It’s not doomsday right now. We’re good, but we understand what we need to fix and correct.”

Brooklyn had suffered 13 straight losses to the Heat since their last victory over them on March 20, 2009.

You don’t want to have those types of losing streaks to any franchise,” said Nets point guard Deron Williams. “so it was definitely on our mind.”

Miami’s Dwayne Wade (21 points) returned to action after missing the Philadelphia game in which the Heat also lost.

This ain’t nothing new. We’ve dealt with this before. This storyline continues,” Wade said. “At the end of the day, we want to play better. We would love to play better, obviously the start, the first and the third, but we had a chance to win the game. We have to find a way to pull it out.”

This was a big and important win for the Nets who last year got swept by the Heat by an average of 21 points, so now with a new look lineup of Pierce and Kevin Garnett added to the mix to complement Deron Williams… Brooklyn now has a legitimate shot to challenge the Heat throughout the season.

Carter-Williams had a debut to recollect, utilizing 22 points, 12 assists, and nine steals to steer the Philadelphia 76ers past the Miami Heat 114-110 on Wednesday night time.

The rookie out of Syracuse practically upstaged Iverson on an evening Philly feted his spectacular career.

“You see what he can deliver on an enormous stage,” 76ers rookie coach Brett Brown mentioned.

MCW was the MVP of the fourth quarter, picking up two more steals, harassing James in the lane, and sealing the win from the free-throw line.

Spencer Hawes scored 24 points and put the Sixers ahead for good with a 3-pointer, then a driving layup for a 109-108 lead with 2:01 left.

“Everything was clicking tonight,” Carter-Williams stated. “If we will consistently play collectively, then we generally is a good workforce.”

The guys within the locker room could be the one ones who suppose that.

As the NBA season tipped off, the over-beneath out of Las Vegas for complete wins for the 76ers this yr is 16.5, the lowest of any crew within the league.

In opposition to the 2-time defending champion Heat, nobody in Philly cared.

James missed 5 of six pictures in the fourth, dropping the ball on one drive down the center, then blowing a 6-footer on the following possession. Shane Battier missed all seven 3-pointers in the recreation and the Heat missed 10 straight shots within the fourth – after scoring a whopping forty five factors in the third.

The Heat wanted all these points to rally after the Sixers dominated from the opening tip. They made their first 11 shots and raced to leads of 19-0 and 26-four, placing the champs on their heels a night after they acquired their rings.

James had 25 points and 13 assists and Chris Bosh scored 22 for Miami.

Miami guard Dwyane Wade sat out to relaxation his sore knees. Coach Erik Spoelstra says he wished to provide Wade an extra day to get better with the Warmth enjoying in consecutive nights. Wade scored thirteen factors for the Warmth of their 107-ninety five win over Chicago on Tuesday.

Carter-Williams additionally hit four three-pointers, had seven rebounds and his nine steals set an NBA first-sport record.

“I could not think of a greater way to start your NBA career,” James mentioned.

For most of the sport, the Sixers played more just like the team within the hunt for the championship, not one in full blown rebuilding mode. Iverson, Charles Barkley, Julius Erving and Moses Malone were among the former Sixers readily available for opening evening.

The Warmth absolutely might have used Wade. Wade, though, had walked into locker room each knees wrapped in ice and an understanding it was too early within the season to push himself. He stated it was “just being smart.”

“It was not pre-deliberate, it was one thing our trainers and coaches got here to me with,” Wade said. “It’s early in the season, it’s only a precaution.”

James stated Wade could take all the time he wanted.

“If he must take the second sport of the season, the 30th recreation, fiftieth recreation, 80th game, that is the way it’s,” James stated.

After all, the Warmth have been a double-digit favourite to rout the Sixers, and expected to have little trouble in opposition to one of many worst teams in the NBA.

Not so quick.

Evan Turner scored 26 points and the Sixers dominated solely hours after Iverson introduced his retirement, ending a 14-12 months profession.

Carter-Williams had a steal and dunk to open the game, Turner dunked over James, and Hawes tossed in a layup for a surprising 19-0 run to open the game. James lastly banked in a shot with 7:07 left in the first to finish Miami’s scoring drought.

The Sixers nonetheless led 29-eleven even with a lineup that included Tony Wroten, Lavoy Allen and Daniel Orton on the courtroom.

Who? Exactly.

“We’ve got a lot of pleasure, the guys which have been here and done it,” Hawes said.

The Heat, though, became the Heat and used a 14-zero run within the second quarter to tug to 51-49 at halftime.

James hit a 3 that made it a one-level game, and Udonis Haslem’s inside layup gave the Warmth their first lead of the game, 60-fifty nine. Ray Allen hit all 4 three-pointers in the quarter, James made three and the Heat shot a sizzling 10 of 13 from 3-point vary in the third. They finished 16 of 22 (73 p.c) from the floor general and stretched the lead to 94-85.

“We’re a cushty crew, we at all times feel like we are able to win a game,” James stated.

Just not this one.

The Warmth didn’t land in Philadelphia till after three a.m… Patti LaBelle and rapper Meek Mill had been on the sport. Eagles extensive receiver DeSean Jackson and Villanova coach Jay Wright additionally attended the game… The Sixers will retire Iverson’s No. 3 on March 1.

The Heat expect the Bulls to be further motivated Tuesday, and never just because it marks level guard Derrick Rose’s first sport again since struggling a torn ACL in April 2012. The Heat may also be raising their 2012-thirteen championship banner and getting their rings earlier than the sport, and it is not lost them that they ended the Bulls’ season in the Jap Conference semifinals just 5 months ago.

“It don’t matter who it is,” James said of the opponent for the opener. “However we like the truth that it’s the Bulls.”

Not that the Bulls will be watching. As an alternative, they will be within the locker room, coach Tom Thibodeau said Monday.

“That is their ceremony, not ours,” Rose stated. “If we have been getting our rings there can be a bit of little bit of a distraction, however for us we know that we bought to stay targeted, come together as a team, and really take their first hit because they’re definitely going to be on charge.”

The Bulls have been right here earlier than. After the Warmth gained the title in 2006, the Bulls have been in Miami for opening evening and the banner elevating ceremony. Chicago blasted Miami 108-sixty six. Only Udonis Haslem and Wade remain from that group, whereas Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich are the one Bulls who were around then.

- LeBron James, on Miami’s opener vs. the Chicago Bulls

The Warmth were in the Bulls’ shoes just two years in the past. After losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 Finals, the Warmth opened the season in Dallas after the lockout ended and obtained revenge by beating the Mavs by double digits.

“We wished to embarrass [the Mavericks] on their residence ground,” Bosh stated. “We wanted to defecate on their night time and we all know [the Bulls] need to do this to us. They need to spoil what we have going and we’re aware of that. Now we have to hit first.”

The Bulls, who were the one NBA crew with an eight-zero preseason document, are again expected to challenge the Warmth for the Eastern Conference crown this season. With Rose, Hinrich and Deng anticipated to be again in the fold after being sidelined in the Japanese Conference semifinals, the Bulls shall be as healthy as they’ve been in over a year.

Wade expects the competition within the East, starting with the Bulls, to be even more durable this season.

“Our aim right here is to not get bored,” Wade mentioned. “Do not get uninterested in making an attempt to be great. Now we have to understand that we’re champions and we will get each different staff’s finest shot.”

NBA Prediction Game Preview & Pick – Bulls vs. Heat

NBA Prediction Game Preview & Pick – Bulls vs. Heat

Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat 10/29- 8:00PM EST

The Miami Heat may be the team getting their rings on opening night of the NBA, but all eyes will be on the return of Chicago’s point guard Derrick Rose who missed all of last season rehabbing a knee injury as he looks to lead his Bulls to a championship year.

Our No. 1 goal is winning a title,” said Rose, the 2011 MVP who has averaged 21.0 points and 6.8 assists in four NBA seasons. “We’re not worried about anything else. We’re not worried about what people say about us or what’s going on on the outside. We’re just worried about the Bulls and how good we get everyday.”

Chicago, after going 8-0 in the pre-season feels they are geared to make a run at an NBA title and dethrone the Heat who are looking for a ‘three-peat.’

If anything, we accomplished what we wanted to accomplish, which was to go out there and try to win every game,” Rose said. “We know we have important games coming up. We’re just trying to get prepared for that.”

Without Rose last year, the Bulls fell to Miami in five-games scoring an average of only 82.0 points a game while giving up 100.3 per game.

For the Miami Heat, once they receive their rings, Lebron James and the Heat expect all business the rest of the way as they seek their third straight NBA title.

After we get our rings, that’s last year,” said James. “We did some special things last year and this is an opportunity for us to look back at it one more time, but I definitely won’t lose sight of what’s in front of me.”

The Los Angeles Lakers of 2000-02 were the last team to win three consecutive championships.

It would mean everything, man,” James said. “First of all, it means that I’m doing my part and I’m helping our team get better. It would mean everything to our team. That’s what we’re here for. We work our tails off every day. If it can pay off with another Finals appearance, we’d represent the Eastern Conference the best way we can.”

Miami won 27-straight games last season challenging the all-time record of 33 straight set by the 1972-73 Los Angeles Lakers finishing with a 66-16 record.

When you put this kind of talent together, there’s always people on the outside trying to figure out ways why it shouldn’t work,” said Dwayne Wade. “When you’re on the inside and can put it together and show them that it can work, it’s a great feeling.

For us to be able to go to the Finals three straight times and hopefully go again, what more can you ask for?”

The Bulls and Heat split their four regular-games last year.

Most teams suffer a ‘ring ceremony’ hangover, and I expect the Bulls to come out with a sense of urgency to prove to the Heat they mean business in 2013-14.

PICK: Chicago Bulls
