In the course of the delay, Bears gamers stretched and went over the game plan.

“Closed my eyes and simply making an attempt to think about the game, visualize the sport somewhat bit,” McCown mentioned. “And kind of assess what occurred the primary two series. What did we do wrong? Why weren’t we transferring the ball? What are they going to do to us?”

Ravens coach John Harbaugh would not say what his crew did throughout the down time, although his group is no stranger to delays. The Ravens skilled a power outage within the Tremendous Bowl, in spite of everything, and the beginning of their season-opener at Denver was pushed again by lightning. Each had been simply 34 minutes, though.

“I feel we have led the league in delays over the previous few years,” Harbaugh mentioned.

Gould received it with a 38-yarder on third-and-8 on the 20 with eight:41 left in OT after McCown connected with a leaping Martellus Bennett on a 43-yard cross to place the ball on the 22, and the Bears (6-four) got here away with the win after dropping 4 of six.

They drove from the 16 to the two, getting a one-handed catch from Dallas Clark on a fourth down on the forty four. After Joe Flacco overthrew Torrey Smith in the back of the tip zone on third down, Tucker tied it at 20-all with 3 seconds left.

McCown threw for 216 yards with out an interception, subbing for Jay Cutler (excessive left ankle sprain). In four video games and two starts, he has five touchdowns and no turnovers, and he got here by under brutal conditions.

“It’s positively one of those days where you look throughout the field and (see) Joe Flacco and look on the sideline and Jay’s over there,” McCown said. “And I am like, ‘Can I borrow someone’s arm?’ ”

Alshon Jeffery had seven catches for eighty three yards. Forte added 42 receiving and 83 speeding.

Julius Peppers had two sacks. David Bass returned an interception for a touchdown, and Jon Bostic set up a field goal by Gould on the finish of the first half with an interception.

The Ravens have been able to get their ground game going, with Ray Rice dashing for 131 yards and a landing against a staff that’s struggled to stop the run. He scored from the 1 early on after a 47-yard sprint on Baltimore’s first drive. But Flacco had a rough day, throwing for 162 yards and getting picked off twice.

“Each time you get the ball, it both was moist or had all types of mud on it,” he mentioned. “It was an issue for the timing stuff, getting a grip on it fast enough.”

The Bears scored 10 points in a 12-second stretch in the second quarter, on a 20-yard area aim by Gould and a 24-yard interception return by Bass. He picked off Flacco at the line and ran untouched to the tip zone, Chicago’s fourth interception return for a TD this season, but Baltimore instantly answered with an eighty-yard scoring drive.

Flacco lofted a 5-yard scoring pass between two defenders to Smith to put the Ravens again on high, 17-10, with four:08 left in the half. However an interception at midfield by Bostic with a minute left led to a 46-yard field objective by Gould as time expired, making it a 4-level recreation on the half.

And what an odd half it was.

Play was stopped just after 12:30 p.m. CT and didn’t resume till 2:25. There have been reviews of at least one tornado touching down in Illinois and extensive harm in a minimum of one a part of the state. At Soldier Area, long traces fashioned in the higher deck as drenched followers tried to make their means towards the tunnel with lightning hanging close to the stadium.

“It was pretty muddy, windy,” Bennett stated. “I feel like I’ve been fishing all day.”

“In respect to his career and what [Reed has] finished and for us to be in the scenario we’re enjoying him eight to 10 plays, that was going to continue with the way we’re doing it proper now, I assumed it was honest to him to offer him a possibility to play somewhere else and do no matter he wanted. That is how we came to the conclusion.”

Reed can be considered one of the greatest players in Ravens historical past. He went to nine Pro Bowls and was named NFL Defensive Participant of the 12 months in 2004.

“Ed is a Raven, and he’ll always be a Raven,” Harbaugh said. “I’m sure he’ll be in the ring of honor someday, and I am positive he’ll be in the Hall of Fame sometime. We have kept in touch with Ed, on and off right here frequently. He is a good pal of everyone here.”

“I think Matt made a tackle,” Harbaugh stated Monday. “He was scrambling to try to meet up with that route as finest as he could. To say that it might have been artistically palatable is pretty exhausting for me to grasp.”

Jones suffered his left knee injury within the first quarter whereas blocking on a run by Packers rookie Eddie Lacy. He left the game and didn’t return.

The absence of Cobb and Jones left Inexperienced Bay with solely two wholesome receivers – Jordy Nelson and infrequently-used Jarrett Boykin – for the second half in opposition to the Ravens. NFL Sunday Preview/Pick-Packers vs. Ravens

Green-Bay-Packers-600x375

By Mario Martinez-Wonder Punter

Green Bay Packers (2-2) @ Baltimore Ravens (3-2) 10/13 1:00PM EST

Line: GB -2.5

Over/Under: 48.5

The Green Bay Packers, coming off last week’s victory over Detroit go into Baltimore and look to continue their winning ways and make a move in the NFC Central as they battle the Ravens.

The Packers will be without All-Pro outside linebacker Clay Matthews who broke his right thumb during last Sunday’s game.

Matthews is expected to be out of action for a least a couple of weeks and when he does return may have to wear a cast. He has also been bothered by a hamstring injury and his absence is a big blow to the defense who are looking to re-establish themselves as one of the league’s best and get back into the playoff race.

The fifth-year pro has a team high three sacks this season and has led Green Bay in sacks every year he has been in the league.

“I mean, Clay Matthews is our best player on defense. But this pro football,” Packer’s coach Mike McCarthy said. “We’ve been down this road before. It’s an excellent opportunity for others to step up and make plays.”

Green Bay, who are ranked 26th in the league with 288.8 passing yards allowed per game will rely on linebackers Mike Neal and Nick Perry to step up make those plays.

“I think Mike Neal has made really good strides. I think you saw him play his best game (Sunday). I think you saw Nick Perry play his best game,” defensive coordinator Dom Capers said Monday. “We need for Mike Neal and Nick Perry to be ready to play next week the way they played this week. Because they played their best football this week.”

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a big road win from last Sunday when they defeated Miami 26-23 with a strong running game that accounted for a season-best 133 yards. They defense also had six sacks against Miami.

However, the Green Bay defense is strong against the run, so quarterback Joe Flacco may have to go to the air as well to create a balanced attack, but the Raven’s offensive line has given up 14 sacks so far making that game plan that much more of a challenge.

“Joe never gets fazed,” coach John Harbaugh said of Flacco, “He’s not going to get rattled.”

While Baltimore’s offense may be off and on, one consistent element of the Ravens is their defense, who are now led by Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumerville.

The Ravens are second-best in the NFL with 19 sacks, with Suggs having seven of those. Good for fourth-best in the NFL this season. Suggs has an incredible 91½ sacks in his career, making him Baltimore’s best in the sack department.

“I don’t want to be known as a pass rusher. I want to be known as a defender that can do more than just one thing.” Said Suggs. “I don’t wan to just have a lot of sacks. I like to fill up the stat sheet.”

One of the better games on Sunday. Expect both teams to be ready to play their best football, but see the Packers winning a close one on the road.

PICK: Green Bay Packers
