1 Denver Broncos (9-1 LW: 2)- Round 1 goes to the Broncos… rematch with KC in two weeks.

2 Seattle Seahawks (10-1 LW: 3) Other then a home game against the Saints, they should be able to run the table the rest of the way.

3 New Orleans Saints (8-2 LW: 4)- Undefeated at home so far… but the playoffs may mean winning on the road.

4 Carolina Panthers (7-3 LW: 6)- Beating quality teams now and only getting better.

5 Kansas City Chiefs (9-1 LW: 1)- Still a solid team on defense… but the offense will need to get better if they expect to make some noise in the playoffs.

6 New England Patriots (7-3 LW: 5)- Patriots are still looking for the flag… they got earlier in the year against the Saints. So…

7 Indianapolis Colts (7-3 LW: 7)- Good comeback win at Tennessee, but I still think Rams game.

8 San Francisco 49ers (6-4 LW: 8)- They were so close to being 8-2…. Two tough games in a row.

9 Cincinnati Bengals (7-4 LW: 10)- Their win on Sunday should put them in position for the AFC North crown and a first-round bye.

10 Detroit Lions (6-4 LW 9)- Can we do the fake field goal play over again?

11 Chicago Bears (6-4 LW: 12)- Big home win over the Ravens.. which Rams team will they face on Sunday?

12 Philadelphia Eagles (6-4 LW: 13)- Finally a team in the NFC East is playing like they want to win it.. Nick Foles getting it done.

13 New York Jets (5-5 LW: 13)- Jekyll and Hyde if you ask me… we just don’t know what team will show up on Sundays.

14 Arizona Cardinals (6-4 LW: 16)- Winning games despite no running game and a QB who’s thrown more INTs then TDs.

15 Miami Dolphins (5-5 LW: 21)- Gritty performance and win against San Diego with all the distractions staring at them.

16 San Diego Chargers (4-6 LW: 17)- If they could just finish games… but now they still have three games left against the Chiefs and Broncos.

17 Dallas Cowboys (5-5 LW: 15)- Big game against the resurgent Giants Sunday on the road.

18 Green Bay Packers (5-5 LW: 14)- No Aaron Rodgers…. No hope!

19 Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6 LW: 25)- Is this the same Steelers team who we all left for dead earlier? Held the Lions scoreless in the second half.

20 Cleveland Browns (4-6 LW: 18)- Big home game on Sunday against the Steelers. If they win… maybe still a chance?

21 Buffalo Bills (4-7 LW: 27)- Winnable games coming up against the Bucs, Falcons, Jags and Dolphins… Wildcard? hmmm maybe.

22 Baltimore Ravens (4-6 LW: 19)- Failing to score on first-and-goal at the Chicago 5-yard line. Story of the year for the offense.

23 St Louis Rams (4-6 LW 20)- In a division with Seattle and San Francisco… it’s tough.

24 New York Giants (4-6 LW: 26)- Four wins in a row now with Dallas coming up.

25 Oakland Raiders (4-6 LW: 24)- Is Matt McGloin the answer at quarterback?

26 Tennessee Titans (4-6 LW: 22)- How big do the losses to the Jags and Colts look now in an AFC race that’s up for grabs.

27 Washington Redskins (3-7 LW: 23)- So much for running the tables like last year.

28 Houston Texans (2-8 LW: 28)- Still playing hard… that’s all you could ask for at this point.

29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8 LW: 31) Two in a row… and they had some winnable games throughout the season.

30. Atlanta Falcons (2-8 LW: 29)- Unlike the Texans, this is a football that has quit on everybody. Embarrassing!

31 Minnesota Vikings (2-8 LW: 30)- Playing for a quarterback in next year’s draft.

32 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9 LW 32)- It was fun while it lasted.

Bengals’ Johnson stands by criticism of fans

NFL Nation: Bengals High Browns

CINCINNATI – Sooner or later after sending shock waves all through the Queen Metropolis by telling booing Bengals fans to “go away,” defensive end Michael Johnson stood by his comments Monday and stated he did not remorse making them.

“I used to be asked a query and I attempted to answer it honestly from the center,” Johnson said contained in the Bengals’ locker room. “Anybody who knows me knows that it is genuine. We’re right here to win; we want to win. Simply as bad as it pains people watching the game when we don’t do effectively, it hurts us 10 instances extra.”

JohnsonI was requested a question and I tried to reply it honestly from the guts. Anybody who is aware of me is aware of that it’s genuine. We’re here to win, we want to win. Simply as dangerous because it pains folks watching the game when we don’t do well, it hurts us 10 instances more.

- Michael Johnson, standing by feedback on Bengals fans

Those comments came following ones made by Johnson simply after Sunday’s 41-20 victory at home over the Cleveland Browns that touched a nerve amongst Bengals fans. Some on social media sided with him. Many others did not.

“When you’re not believing and being constructive, leave,” Johnson stated while altering after the win. “We don’t want you. As a result of that’s what we’re about round here – staying focused, staying constructive and holding our energy going. Negativity breeds negativity, and we do not try this around here.”

Particularly, he was referring to a sequence late within the first quarter when seemingly hundreds of fans booed Cincinnati’s offense following a third sequence that resulted in a 3-and-out. As quarterback Andy Dalton and the remainder of the Bengals’ offense jogged off the field to offer approach to the punt unit, the plenty made it recognized that they have been restless and offended. A smattering of boos sounded following the earlier Bengals drive, too, when a Dalton move was intercepted by Browns cornerback Joe Haden, who returned the ball 29 yards for a landing that gave Cleveland an early thirteen-0 lead.

Along with the interceptions and stalled drives, the boos additionally seemingly stemmed from Dalton’s play across the previous three weeks. Since posting a 4-zero report by means of his first four video games in October and incomes AFC offensive participant of the month honors, Dalton has been a much completely different player. He’s gone 1-2, tossed eight interceptions and seen his Complete QBR plummet. He hasn’t had a QBR above within the final three video games. Sunday’s three.7 was a profession worst.

For perspective, Dalton had QBRs of ninety two.8 and ninety eight.9 within the two video games before his individual slide.

During Sunday’s game, a gaggle of fans in the higher deck of the east stands unfurled a long banner that learn: “Will the real Andy please step up?”

“It simply goes again to if you’re youngsters,” Johnson said Monday. “All people heard that ‘If you do not have anything good to say, don’t say it at all.’ Being at home, I really like enjoying at dwelling. We’re undefeated here this yr. I really like our fans. They usually do a terrific job of being loud and making it robust on the other workforce.

“However that’s who we wish them to make it tough for: the other workforce.”

Left sort out Andrew Whitworth, an eight-year veteran, has been by way of his share of dropping seasons in Cincinnati and is all too familiar with the occasional Paul Brown Stadium boo birds.

“I do not pay attention to that. In case you play offense like we did in the first three series, you are going to get booed,” Whitworth said. “I’ve been here once we have been zero-8. In order that ain’t crap. That ain’t booing. I can bear in mind seeing No. 9 [Carson Palmer] jerseys getting thrown on the field.. on the back of our sideline. So I’ve been around it. That’s Cincinnati. That is a number of the nature here.”

Be that as it may, Johnson hopes this episode will soon be forgotten.

“We’re just priming them for this playoff run,” Johnson stated, laughing while referring to the 7-4 Bengals’ AFC North lead and 5-zero report at home this season. “I am sure we cannot have that problem any more this 12 months, or for the years to come back.”

NFL Predictions Week 11 Preview and Picks

Free NFL Picks and predictions for Week 11

NFL Week 11 is going to be another great week of NFL games with the four big ones in my opinion being Cleveland @ Cincinnati, San Francisco @ New Orleans, Kansas City @ Denver (Sunday night) and New England @ Carolina (Monday night). Here is my quick preview for each game along with the spread and my pick/prediction for each match-up. Remember, you can check the latest lines and place your favorite bet(s) right here through Wonder Punter. Good Luck!

New York Jets (5-4) @ Buffalo Bills (3-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: Even

Over/Under: 40.5

With the Jets coming off their bye week, I have to think they will play the better game and expected a little from the Bills to this point. If Geno Smith is on…

Baltimore Ravens (4-5) @ Chicago Bears (5-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CHI -3.0

Over/Under: 45.0

The Ravens are coming off a big home win last Sunday against a Cincinnati team without much offensive production. The Bears will be without Jay Cutler. Still like the Bears in this one being at home.

PICK: Chicago

Cleveland Browns (4-5) @ Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CIN -6.0

Over/Under: 42.0

The Bengals have lost back-to-back games in overtime and lost the last meeting with Cleveland but will go with Cincy in this one to get it done.

PICK: Cincinnati

Washington Redskins (3-6) @ Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: PHI -4.5

Over/Under: 53.0

Too much at stake for the Eagles with a chance to get into sole possession of first place with a win and Nick Foles has been great the last two weeks.

PICK: Philadelphia

Detroit Lions (6-3) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: DET -2.5

Over/Under: 47.0

The Steelers have been playing better ball since their ‘rock bottom’ game a few weeks backs, but with a healthy Lions duo of Stafford/Johnson… I like the Lions on the road.

PICK: Detroit
Atlanta Falcons (2-7) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: EVEN

Over/Under: 43.0

The ‘experts’ have it even.. I kind of agree. With a very disappointing Falcons team this year, can the Bucs win two in a row?

PICK: Atlanta

Arizona Cardinals (5-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: ARI -8.5

Over/Under: 41.0

As long as the Cardinals don’t have a ‘let-down’ game, they should win easily.

PICK: Arizona

Oakland Raiders (3-6) @ Houston Texans (2-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: HOU -7.0

Over/Under: 41.5

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is back, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is questionable…. seems like a Texans win to me.

PICK: Houston

San Diego Chargers (4-5) @ Miami Dolphins (4-5) 11/17- 4:05PM EST

Line: SD -1.0

Over/Under: 45.5

Always tough for a West Coast team to travel East and play but with the Dolphins in the midst of controversy… can they stay focused?

PICK: San Diego

San Francisco 49ers (6-3) @ New Orleans Saints (7-2) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: NO -3.0

Over/Under: 47.5

I expect a better performance this week from the 49ers, but New Orleans is just a very good team in the Dome. Should be a good. Too much Saints.

PICK: New Orleans

Minnesota Vikings (2-7) @ Seattle Seahawks (9-1) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: SEA -12.0

Over/Under: 45.5

After last week’s solid road performance, I think the Seahawks have shaken off their two-week funk with those close victories.

PICK: Seattle

Kansas City Chiefs (9-0) @ Denver Broncos (8-1) 11/17- 8:30PM EST

Line: DEN -7.5

Over/Under: 49.0

The first of two anticipated meetings is soon upon us.. can the much ‘talked-about’ Kansas City defense do enough to slow down the Broncos?

PICK: Denver

New England Patriots (7-2) @ Carolina Panthers (6-3) 11/18- 8:30PM EST

Line: CAR -2.5

Over/Under: 46.5

Monday night showdown. Tough one for me… Pats 2-2 on the road thus far but are still the Patriots and the Panthers have won five straight. If Carolina has another defensive performance like last week, I like their chances.

PICK: Carolina

There are my predictions and Good luck with your teams and picks!

Wonder Punter NFL Week 11 Power Rankings

NFL Power rankings for week 11 2013

With a 10 full weeks of NFL games in the books, let’s take a look at our new NFL Power Rankings for Week 11 which will begin on Thursday. The Indianapolis Colts who were a constant top 5 teams in our rankings took a hit with their bad loss at the hands of the Rams, as did some other teams after Sunday and Monday night’s game. The Carolina Panthers made the biggest jump with their impressive defensive performances win at San Francisco. And Tampa Bay and Jacksonville are in the win column… finally.

1 Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)- Even with the bye week, I will keep them in No. 1 spot, however they will be challenged in the next two of three weeks with the Denver Broncos on the bill.

2 Denver Broncos (8-1)- Denver’s next three games…. KC, at New England, at KC. Things are about to get interesting in the AFC.

3 Seattle Seahawks (9-1)- Seattle put together a full road game against the Falcons on Sunday and dominated them. Much more impressive win.

4 New Orleans Saints (7-2)- World beaters at home… except in the NFL you only get to play half at home during the regular season.

5 New England Patriots (7-2)- Coming off their bye week, they will have a great road test at Carolina on Monday night.

6 Carolina Panthers (6-3)- One quality victory down with a road win at San Fran., can they duplicate another at home against the Patriots on Monday night?

7 Indianapolis Colts (6-3)- I don’t think anyone is sure what happened to them on Sunday’s ugly home loss to the Rams…. They couldn’t have been looking ahead to the Titans, could they have?

8 San Francisco (6-3)- A bounce here, a bounce there, who knows… but teams 6 and 7 beat them at Candlestick.

9 Detroit Lions (6-3)- Big road win at Soldier Field to take over sole possession over first place in the NFC North.

10 Cincinnati Bengals (6-4)- Back-to-back road losses at Miami then Baltimore.. lose to Cleveland on Sunday and they may have a problem.

11 New York Jets (5-4)- Coming off their bye week with winnable game at Buffalo on Sunday.

12 Chicago Bears (5-4)- Can Josh McCown hold it together ‘til Cutler makes it back… whenever that is.

13 Philadelphia Eagles (5-5)- Nick Foles has had two great back-to-back games. My favorites now to win a weak NFC East.

14 Green Bay Packers (5-4)- Despite their quarterback injuries, they have a winnable game at the Giants on Sunday.

15 Dallas Cowboys (5-5)- In what was probably their ‘rock bottom’ game on Sunday, they are still in first place in the NFC.. but barely.

16 Arizona Cardinals (5-4)- Too bad they have play in the same division as the Seahawks and 49ers.

17 San Diego Chargers (4-5)- Too bad they have to play in same division as the Chiefs and Broncos.

18 Cleveland Browns (4-5)- Win at Cincinnati on Sunday and they may have a chance to win what is now a weak AFC North.

19 Baltimore Ravens (4-5)- It’s a good thing the defense showed up on Sunday against the Bengals because the offense was nowhere to be found.

20 St. Louis Rams (4-6)- The Tavon Austin show and a blowout win at Indy.

21 Miami Dolphins (4-5)- In week one following the bullying-blowup, they lose to the winless Bucs.

22 Tennessee Titans (4-5)- First they lose Jake Locker for the year, then they lose to the worst team in the league.

23 Washington Redskins (3-6)- In a weak NFC East, they show no signs of wanting it.

24 Oakland Raiders (3-6)- Have now lost 12 straight on East Coast trips and now word Terrelle Pryor may be out for awhile.

25 Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6)- What’s all this talk about trading away ‘Big Ben?’ Will that make them better… and will anybody take a banged-up quarterback?

26 New York Giants (3-6)- Must I keep talking about the NFC East anymore… they’re still in it but have some tough games coming up.

27 Buffalo Bills (3-7)- It’s all about building a foundation for 2014.

28 Houston Texans (2-7)- Still better then their record indicates.

29. Atlanta Falcons (2-7)- I used to think they were better then their record indicated.

30 Minnesota Vikings (2-7)- With Christian Ponder’s status up in the air for Sunday’s game, will we see another quarterback change for the Vikings?

31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8)- Guess they didn’t want to be ranked last in the league.

32 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8)- Well for about 32 hours they were ranked 31st….

NFL Power Rankings – Week 10

Power Rankings for the NFL week 10 – WonderPunter

With 9 weeks of the NFL season in the books, let’s take a look at Week 10’s Power Rankings where a few teams made some jumps and others went backwards after this past weekend’s games.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)- As much as I still think they are not deserving of the top ranking.. they are still the only undefeated team. Bye week then a showdown with the Denver Broncos.

2. Denver Broncos (7-1)- With the bye week out of the way, can they continue to play at a high-level without head coach John Fox on the mend for possibly two months for a heart attack? Chargers and Chiefs coming up.

3. Indianapolis Colts (6-2)- They have beaten some quality teams to this point, but remember no more Reggie Wayne to help the offense.

4. Seattle Seahawks (8-1)- Expected better from a team that has struggled against the Rams and Bucs for victories.

5. San Francisco 49ers (6-2)- Big home game against the surging Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

6. New Orleans Saints (6-2)- Will look to bounce back against the Cowboys after Sundays loss to the Jets.

7. New England Patriots (7-2)- They head into the bye week after an impressive blowout win over the Steelers 55-31.

8. Cincinnati Bengals (6-3)- Can they avoid back-to-back road losses with the Ravens coming up?

9. Chicago Bears (5-3)- Big road win on Monday night in Lambeau gave them a big move up the rankings. Next up Detroit and possibly Jay Cutler returning to action.

10. Detroit Lions (5-3)- Coming off their bye week with a road game at Soldier Field.

11. Carolina Panthers (5-3)- All their wins have been against bad teams, now they visit the Niners on Sunday to prove their worth.

12. Green Bay Packers (5-3)- Dropped from last week and now with Aaron Rodgers out of action, they may continue to fall.

13. Dallas Cowboys (5-4)- Still middle of the road for me but they are in first place in a weak NFC East. Will be tested against the Saints on Sunday night.

14. New York Jets (5-4)- Good home win against a good Saints team leading into the bye week.

15. San Diego Chargers (4-4)- Another fourth quarter loss last week, now next up is the Denver Broncos.

16. Tennessee Titans (4-4)- I still like this football team and have the hapless Jags coming into town.

17. Miami Dolphins (4-4)- Can they overcome all the bad press this week and beat a winless Bucs team on Monday night?

18. Cleveland Browns (4-5)- Is Jason Campbell the answer to Hoyle?

19. Arizona Cardinals (4-4)- Next up is the Texans as they look to go above .500, unfortunately they have the 49ers and Seahawks to contend with in their division.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (4-5)- Back-up quarterback Nick Foles completely embarrassed the Raiders with seven touchdown passes, yet Vick may still get his job back when healthy.

21. Baltimore Ravens (4-4)- Offense must improve if they want to contend.

22. Washington Redskins (3-5)- With Minnesota coming up Thursday night, now is the chance to string some wins together in the winnable NFC East.

23. Buffalo Bills (3-6)- Tough road loss to the unbeaten Chiefs, but still like the direction they are going.

24. Oakland Raiders (3-5)- Horrible defensive performance against the Eagles. Next up is the lowly Giants, but it’s always tough for west coast teams to head east and win.

25. Houston Texans (2-6)- Defense is still there and had the Colts beat, but losing their coach proved too tough to overcome.

“I assume I simply obtained to take folks’s knees out,” Meriweather mentioned Monday morning in the Redskins’ locker room. “That’s the only manner. I might hate to end a guy’s profession over a rule, however I suppose it is higher different folks than me getting suspended for longer.

MeriweatherHe looks like I need to be kicked out of the league. I really feel like people who beat their girlfriends ought to be kicked out of the league, too… You inform me who you’d rather have? Somebody who performs aggressive on the field or somebody who beat up their girlfriend?”

“You just must go low now, man. You’ve got to end folks’s careers. You bought to tear folks’s ACLs and mess up folks’s knees. You may’t hit them excessive anymore.”

Then Meriweather turned to Marshall and Bears tight end Martellus Bennett, who each publicly criticized the exhausting-hitting safety last week. Marshall received one in all Meriweather’s hits in the game on Oct. 20.

“I respect the league attempting to raised our sport,” Marshall mentioned after that recreation. “Guys like that, maybe he must get suspended or taken out of the sport utterly.”

Bennett stated later in the week that he needed to punch Meriweather. But Meriweather’s ire was directed extra at Marshall.

“He looks like I must be kicked out of the league, I feel like people who beat their girlfriends must be kicked out of the league, too,” Meriweather said.

Marshall has been arrested a number of times on alleged home-abuse prices.

Chiefs overcome Browns to stay undefeated

Chiefs Improve To eight-zero

Chiefs Improve To eight-zero

KANSAS METROPOLIS, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs know that they’re going to get the opposing group’s finest shot each time they step on the sphere.

That comes with being the NFL’s lone unbeaten group.

They would not need it some other method.

“We adore it,” Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith stated. “You need the stages to get bigger. That’s why you set all the work in. You want this opportunity. You need that honor.”

The Chiefs obtained another stiff check from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, racing out to a giant first-half lead after which holding on via a harrowing second half.

The result was a tenuous 23-17 victory and just the second 8-zero begin in franchise historical past.

“I imply, not that anyone sneaks up on anybody on this league, however yeah, we’re the only undefeated group,” mentioned Smith, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns.

“I believe that groups have acknowledged how we’re taking part in and no question, they’re coming prepared.”

Jason Campbell, beginning rather than the ineffective Brandon Weeden, threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns for the Browns.

His second scoring pass, a 17-yarder to Fozzy Whittaker out of the backfield, bought Cleveland within a area goal early in the third quarter.

The Chiefs stored making stops down the stretch, though. They punted with three:55 left, however pressured Campbell out of the pocket on fourth down, and his cross bounced off large receiver Davone Bess for an incompletion. It was one among several drops for Bess, who also fumbled on a punt return.

Ryan Succop tacked on his third field goal of the sport with 17 seconds left, and the Browns were unable to do anything with their remaining possession before time expired.

“We weren’t in a position to make the plays on the end there to win the sport,” Browns coach Rob Chudzinski stated. “Kansas Metropolis began fast and we weren’t in a position to get anything going early within the recreation. I thought our guys did a fantastic job of fighting and getting again in the sport.

“We were in place a couple of occasions,” he stated, “one break or one play.”

Josh Gordon had five catches for 132 yards and a touchdown in what might be his last recreation for the Browns. They have been fielding offers for him forward of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

“I know simply as much as you all know,” Gordon stated. “When it happens, if it does not happen, we’ll know on the same time.”

The Chiefs marched downfield on the game’s opening possession earlier than settling for Succop’s first area aim, and then did the exact same thing when they got the ball again moments later.

Kansas City eventually reached the tip zone early in the second quarter when Smith discovered fullback Anthony Sherman out of the backfield on third-and-10. He picked up a couple of marvelous blocks and rumbled 12 yards for his first profession rating and a 13-0 lead.

In the meantime, the Browns’ offense struggled to get on observe, going three-and-out on their first three collection. Campbell overshot a couple of huge receivers, but the real downside was their lack of a working game – they’d three carries for minus-1 yard at halftime.

“We’ve to start out faster,” Campbell mentioned.

It took some trickery for Cleveland to score. Campbell handed off to Willis McGahee, who flipped it again to the quarterback, and he hit Gordon in stride for a 39-yard reception.

The great vibes on their sideline have been short-lived, though.

Jamaal Charles ripped off two lengthy runs, including one to transform one other third down – the Chiefs have been 9 of 12 in the half – to get into Cleveland territory. Smith finished the drive by hitting Dexter McCluster down the seam for a 28-yard scoring go.

The Browns managed to get a subject objective to get inside 20-10 simply before the break, and then carried the momentum into the second half, closing inside a subject goal on Whittaker’s TD catch.

That was as close because the Chiefs protection would enable them to get.

“The very best you can be right now’s 8-0 and that is the place we’re at,” Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson said. “Everybody’s going to give us their best. We all know that. If we will take that punch and preserve rolling, that is what we did as we speak. It wasn’t pretty, however a ‘W’ positive does look good.”

Recreation notes

Chiefs DL

Mike Catapano

left the game with a sprained ankle and didn’t return… Charles briefly left the game with a bruised knee… Browns WR

Travis Benjamin

left the sport with a knee injury… Smith had thrown 122 passes and not using a TD completion before hitting Sherman in the second quarter.

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Free Pick- Jets vs. Bengals

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Free Pick- Jets vs. Bengals

New York Jets (4-3) @ Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) 10/21- 4:05PM EST

Line: CIN -6.0

Over/Under: 41.5

With the halfway point of the NFL season upon us, the Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) find themselves with a two-game lead on both the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North and look to build on it as they seek their fourth straight win on Sunday against a Jets team coming off their biggest win of the season 30-27 over the AFC East leading New England Patriots.

For the Bengals, much of their success can be attributed to quarterback Andy Dalton and the kicking heroics of Mike Nugent who has two game-winning field goals in back-to-back weeks against Buffalo and Detroit.

These last couple have come down to the end and we’re finding ways to win the game,” Dalton said. “For us, it’s big. We’re 5-2 now and it sets us up where we want to go.”

Dalton, himself has played a big part of winning the last two games by completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 709 yards with six touchdowns, one INT and a 119.7 passer rating.

The task this week will be tougher for Dalton has he will be facing a Jets defense ranked fourth overall in the NFL, third with 24 sacks second against the run with 77.7 yards per game.

For the Jets (4-3), they know they can only go so far as rookie Geno Smith can take them, but he continues to make strides and impress on a weekly basis.

Just keep making strides,” coach Rex Ryan wants from Smith. “I think you see it on the practice field. I think he’s comfortable with our system.”

I think now it’s become his system.”

Smith realizes consistency is what he needs to improve on if he wants to experience success in the league.

I definitely want to continue to play consistently, and that’s something I have been working extremely hard at,” Smith said. “I’ve been beating myself over it because I know with that consistency at the quarterback (position), it usually leads to success with the team.

That’s something I’m trying to do, something I pride myself in, being a consistent decision-maker.”

With the Bengals lack of a solid running game, expect a heavy-dose of an air attack by Dalton, who has the weapons to make big plays such as Marvin Jones and All-Pro receiver A.J. Green.

Green has 43 receptions with 619 yards to be ranked amongst the league leaders.

New York has dominated the Bengals, winning nine of the past 10 meetings, but Cincinnati hopes it comes down to one-last kick to put Nugent in a position to win it.

I do it in the off-season when I’m just out by myself,” Nugent said. “If you can try to put as much pressure on yourself as you can when you’re practicing, put yourself in the situation, maybe that adds up and makes it easier when it actually happens.”

I like the Bengals in this match-up, but if Geno Smith can play with consistency.. he may be able to pull off another late game magic of his own.

My Prediction & Pick for this game will be,…..

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Pick- Browns vs. Chiefs

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Cleveland Browns

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Pick- Browns vs. Chiefs

Cleveland Browns (3-4) @ Kansas City Chiefs (7-0) 10/27- 1:00PM EST

Line: KC -7.5

Over/Under: 39.5

The Cleveland Browns (3-4) have figured out once-starting quarterback Brandon Weeden is not the answer to get them back to their winning ways and have decided to start Jason Campbell in place of the ineffective Weeden as they try to knock the Chiefs (7-0) out of the unbeaten ranks.

What a difference a year makes as last year the Chiefs had a franchise-worst 2-14 record and this season, thanks in part to the league’s stingiest defense and a weak schedule remain the NFL’s only unbeaten team.

The combined record of the Chiefs opponents so far this year is 15-33.

Defensively, Kansas City has allowed a league-low 81 points, rank fifth with 304.6 yards against per game, third with a passing defense of 194.7 yards and lead the NFL with 35 sacks.

The best thing about this team, we’ve had a lot of bad luck in the past; we’re taking success the right way, being very humble about it,” linebacker Derrick Johnson said. “Character speaks after a win and we will still come back and grind like we’re losing. We’ll come back and try to get to 8-0. It’s a great feeling. We’re loving it.”

This year’s Chiefs team is off to it’s best start since winning nine games back in 2003, and staying healthy has also been a key factor in this year’s success.

This is a tough business. Injuries do take place. I get it. But we’ve been fortunate,” coach Andy Reid said. “That’s really what it is.”

The Browns are headed into a tailspin if Jason Campbell cannot turn things around for a team that was starting to thrive under Brian Hoyer before losing him for the season with a knee injury.

Cleveland (3-4) is hoping the mobility of Jason Campbell will help avoid some of the sacks the Browns have endured this season where they have allowed their quarterbacks to be brought down 27 times… tied for second-most in the NFL.

It’s a tough decision,” Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski said. “I believe this is in the best interest of the team, and ultimately gives us the best chance to win. I’m excited to see what Jason will do with this opportunity.”

It’s an opportunity to go out there and just get back to the game and just having fun,” Campbell said. “Obviously, we want to go win games and do the best we can. But at the same time we understand we’re growing as a football team and our goal and mission every week is to go out and win games.”

The Browns have won three of the last four in the series, but don’t see them winning on Sunday. Chief’s defense is just too strong.

Pick: Kansas City Chiefs

RG III: NFL will see fewer dropback passers

ASHBURN, Va. – When Peyton Manning entered the NFL in 1998, dropback passers have been the preferred fashion of quarterbacks. When Robert Griffin III entered 14 years later, one other fashion grew to become in style.

And Griffin stated he anticipates seeing extra groups finding quarterbacks with his model than Manning’s in the future. That is due to how the professional sport has evolved with the adoption of more methods from the school sport.

GriffinSchool has drifted away from the dropback passer. So that you see much less and less of guys that may’t transfer a little bit on the school ranks, which makes it harder to get these guys in the pros.

- Robert Griffin III

“Faculty has drifted away from the dropback passer,” Griffin said. “So you see much less and less of fellows that may’t transfer a bit of bit on the school ranks, which makes it tougher to get these guys in the professionals. If you happen to take a look at some of the prime college quarterbacks which are coming out now, all of them can move a bit of bit.”

Manning, in fact, has not been identified for his legs all through his profession. But his mind and accuracy have made him one of many NFL’s best-ever quarterbacks. He is made a living out of fast selections, which offset how fast defenses have turn out to be during his career.

Nonetheless, lots of the younger quarterbacks, who at the moment are starting, characteristic a sport more like Griffin’s, with the flexibility to make use of their legs: Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, EJ Manuel (who at present is sidelined with a knee injury). Andrew Luck is extra of a dropback passer, however he, too, could run elements of what Griffin does, if the Colts desired, because of his athleticism. However they like him to make throws from the pocket.

“You don’t have to have world-class pace, but as long as you may move a little bit bit and threaten the protection together with your legs, it helps,” Griffin mentioned. “I do not assume that quarterbacks like Peyton are going to be extinct ever, but I believe there is a shift going to guys that can transfer a little bit bit. When you have got 6-[-foot]6, 6-7, 290-pound defensive ends working four.4s, it’s type of laborious to just sit back there in the pocket.”

That is not to say Griffin shouldn’t be a fan of Manning. He is a giant fan. Griffin did not want to get into the “sappy stuff” before playing towards Manning’s Denver Broncos on Sunday.

“He is an amazing quarterback, he is always been great,” Griffin mentioned. “He’s one of those guys, regardless that our kinds are various, he nonetheless paved the way for quarterbacks like myself to have the chance to play in the NFL, so you study from these guys and I’ve learned. I will not let you know what I’ve learned, however I’ve discovered.”

Manning stated he hasn’t been capable of watch numerous Griffin but said the Redskins quarterback is “obviously an impressive participant and a real problem for our defense.”

Business of the NFL, Money Made!!

The Business of the NFL
Source: Finance Degree Center

As the most popular of the four major American professional sports leagues, the NFL is an industry unto itself.

$37.4 billion
Combined value of NFL’s 32 teams
That’s more than the national GDPs of Afghanistan, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Jamaica and more than 115 other countries.
The value of the NFL’s richest team, the Dallas Cowboys, is enough to …
… buy an iPhone 5C for nearly every person in the state of Texas
… pay the monthly SNAP food assistance amount for 17 million Americans
… buy the five lowest-value Major League Baseball teams, the Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays
… hire more than 65,000 new elementary school teachers

Buying and Watching

One reason why the NFL has so much money is Americans can’t seem to get enough of it.
At the game
Average costs:
Ticket $78.38
Beer $7.28
Soda $4.57
Hot dog $4.84
Parking $27.35
Program $4.06
Hat $21.38
$3 billion
Total NFL merchandise sales in 2011, up from $2.8 billion the previous year
Best-selling jerseys on (through June):
Colin Kaepernick
Russell Wilson
Robert Griffin III
Adrian Peterson
Peyton Manning
What the networks pay annually for broadcast rights:
Through 2013 season
CBS $622.5 million
Fox $712.5 million
NBC $650 million
ESPN $1.1 billion
CBS $1 billion
Fox $1.1 billion
NBC $950 million
ESPN $1.9 billion

For the first week of the 2013 season, football provided the top three most-watched shows, and four of the top 10. Among those shows was NBC’s rain-delay programming, which beat eight other shows that week.
Most watched TV broadcasts ever:
Super Bowls account for the 21 highest rated broadcasts in U.S. history in total viewership.
2012: Super Bowl XLVI (Giants-Patriots) 166.8 million
2013: Super Bowl XLVII (Ravens-49ers) 164.1 million
2011: Super Bowl XLV (Packers-Steelers) 162.9 million
2010: Super Bowl XLIV (Colts-Saints) 153.4 million
2009: Super Bowl XLIII (Cardinals-Steelers) 151.6 million

No Place Like New Home

As the NFL becomes more and more profitable, new stadiums become more and more common, usually on the backs of the public. Of the 20 NFL stadiums built or renovated since 1997, all but one have used taxpayer money.
Team Year built Total cost Percentage of public funds
New York Jets/Giants 2010 $1.6 billion 0%*
Dallas Cowboys 2009 $1.2 billion 28.60%
Philadelphia Eagles 2003 $474 million 40%
Arizona Cardinals 2007 $455 million 67.70%
Denver Broncos 2001 $365 million 68.40%
Houston Texans 2002 $424 million 73%
Cleveland Browns 1999 $290 million 74.70%
Pittsburgh Steelers 2001 $357.5 million 78.70%
Indianapolis Colts 2008 $720 million 86%
* New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority has $100 million in debt from old stadium, and new stadium was built on public land
The Minnesota Vikings are building a new $950 million stadium, the cost of which will be about evenly split between the team and the taxpayers. The Atlanta Falcons are in planning stages on a new stadium that would be finished in time for the 2017 season. The total cost is estimated to be as high as $1 billion, some of which would be provided by taxpayers.

Player Income

While many NFL players are very highly paid, they have some of the lowest compensation figures in pro sports—and the shortest careers on average.
League Average annual salary Average career length Average total career earnings
NBA $5.2 million 4.8 years $25 million
MLB $3.2 million 5.6 years $17.9 million
NHL $2.4 million 5.5 years $13.2 million
NFL $1.9 million 3.5 years $6.7 million

And All This Adds Up to No Profit?

Believe it or not, the NFL is a 501(c)(6) organization, meaning the league itself is tax-exempt. The league’s 32 teams pay taxes on the profits they earn, but the league office itself doesn’t.
Other examples of such groups include chambers of commerce, real estate boards and other trade groups. How many of those will be paid billions by TV networks for the rights to air their events?
Signers of a petition to call on the U.S. Senate to revoke the league’s nonprofit status
$29.5 million
2011 compensation for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
That means Goodell is paid more than the CEOs of Target ($28.6M), AT&T ($26M), News Corp ($25M) and dozens of other billion-dollar companies.
