The red-hot San Antonio Spurs will be looking for revenge on the road against another team that has been playing well of late… the Chicago Bulls, as both teams will battle on Tuesday night at the United Center.

All the Spurs have done since the Bulls beat them 96-86 back in January is rattle off 13 of 16 wins and are enjoying a six-game win streak all while going on a offensive surge scoring an average of 106.6 points per game over their last 16 games while allowing 101.6 points per contest.

Last Thursday, the Spurs (46-16) were able to exact revenge on the Miami Heat with a 111-87 home win and will be looking for the same results against the defensive minded Bulls who also defeated the Heat at home on Sunday with a 95-88 overtime win.

Following their big win over the two-time defending champions, San Antonio survived a letdown at the hands of the lowly Orlando Magic on Saturday night with a 121-112 victory to keep their winning streak alive.

It’s always hard after a big win against Miami, the emotions,” Tony Parker said. “We wanted to make sure we didn’t come out flat, and Orlando, they came out firing.” They were shooting the ball very well from outside. They are young and wanted to prove something. They made it hard on us but it’s a big win for us.”

As well as the Spurs have been playing since their Chicago defeat, the Bulls (35-28) have also been on fire winning eleven of their last fourteen games and six of seven at home as they have been playing balanced basketball averaging 93.1 on offense and allowing 92.2 on defense.

They are a team with heart that plays hard for all 48 minutes and Sunday’s big win over the Heat as given them more of reason to feel good about themselves as the playoffs near.

I want what they have—a championship,” Joakim Noah said of the Heat. “One day, we are going to have to get through those guys.”

Chicago is in the middle of a challenging six-game stand that has seen them lose to the Memphis Grizzlies and bounce back with a huge win over the Heat, but after the Spurs will still be faced with the likes of the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Wow… talk about a tough stretch games! No doubt, defense will be the key for the Bulls to contain these high scoring teams in the coming days.

The Spurs have lost five-of-eight to the Bulls in the series, but oddsmakers have given the edge for Tuesday’s game making them a (minus -4.0) point favorite in Chicago where they will be looking for their second straight win in the Windy City. In what promises to be an entertaining well-played game for both teams, stay in the know with all the latest spreads on the game up until tipoff right here at Wonder Punter.

Tough one to call on this one as both teams are playing great ball, but I will favor the home-town Bulls to win in a close one as they continue to build their confidence as they playoffs near.

NBA Prediction Friday Night Preview/Pick- Memphis vs. Chicago

Memphis Grizzlies (34-26, 16-12 away) @ Chicago Bulls (34-27, 18-10 home) 03/07- 7:00PM EST

In what promises to be a great game, two of the league’s hottest teams since the beginning of the new year, the Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls will battle on Friday night at the United Center.

Both teams struggled for the first two months of the season, disappointing many around the league as they were a combined 25-35 from Oct-Dec, but since the start of January have put together 43-18 combined record.

The Bulls (34-27) has been the hotter of the two as they will be in search of their 11th victory in 13 games, including five straight at home by an average of 19.6 points.

Defense as been the swan song of the Bulls under head coach Tom Thibodeau, but it has been the offense surge sort of speak that has allowed them to win 10 of 12 giving them a nice balance between defense and offense.

A lot of guys are stepping up on this team right now,” said Taj Gibson, who is averaging a career-high 13.4 this season. “Everyone is working hard and helping in whatever way we need. The guys are just focused on the team right now.”

All-star Joakim Noah has been the leader in place of Derrick Rose this season averaging 13.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists while shooting 54.o percent over his last 13 games, but has been less than effective against the Grizzlies over his last six games averaging just 7.9 points on 41.9 percent shooting. However, power forward Carlos Boozer (14.4 ppg) is averaging a career-best 20.1 points per contest against the Grizzlies.. his highest versus any other NBA team.

Memphis (34-26) will try to bounce back after an unexpected and disappointing 104-93 road loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. The were without the services of power forward Zach Randolph (flu) and point guard Mike Conley (17.3) went 0-8 from the field after going for 22 against Cleveland and 20 versus Washington in back-to-back wins.

It was a tough night,” coach Dave Joerger said. “We had some guys, really, really struggle tonight.”

The Grizzlies are 7-3 and the Bulls are 8-2 over their last 10 games and the oddsmakers are favoring the Bulls as a slight (minus 2.0) point favorite but stay up to date with the latest spread as they may change before game time right here at Wonder Punter.

I’m really looking forward to these two teams clashing on Friday night and feel if Zach Randolph is able to suit up, I’m going to give a slight edge to the visiting Grizzlies to get out of the United Center with a win. Expect a great game with great defenses played on both sides.

NBA Prediction Friday Night Preview/Pick- Bulls vs. Mavericks

Chicago Bulls (31-26, 14-16 away) @ Dallas Mavericks (36-23, 19-9 home) 02/28- 8:30PM EST

Line: DAL -4.5

Over/Under: 191.0

The all of a sudden ‘offensive’ minded Chicago Bulls will travel into American Airlines Center on Friday night in search of their eighth victory in nine games against a Dallas Mavericks team riding a four game win streak.

We all know the Bulls are a great defensive team under coach Tom Thibodeau as they have been ranked in the top three in the NBA under Thibodeau in his first three seasons and with an 91.3 points allowed per game this season are amongst the tops in the league again in the 2013-14 season… but it’s been the offense that has been stealing headlines of late as the Bulls have scored over 100 points in three of their last four games to put them over a season-high five games over the .500 mark.

Chicago (31-26) still ranks last in the league in scoring at 92.9 points per game and after losing Derrick Rose for the season again very easily could’ve just cashed it in and who could blame them?… but there is too much pride in them and Thibodeau has them believing in themselves once again. Let’s not forget they still have a lot of talent in the likes of All-Star Joakim Noah (12.1 ppg, 11.5 rpg), Taj Gibson, Carlos Boozer and a team that loves and takes in pride in hard nose defense and it showed on Wednesday night when they went into Oakland and gave the Golden State Warriors… the NBA’s highest-scoring team a lesson in defense by holding them to just 83 points in a 103-83 win.

We’re a confident group,” Noah said. “(Wednesday) was a big night for us. Played against a team with great offensive power, definitely one of the best teams in the West. To come out there and kick their (butts) like that feels great.”

Many feel the NBA’s Eastern Conference is a two-team race between the Indianapolis Pacers and Miami Heat, but the Bulls who are chasing the third-seed Toronto Raptors are poised to make a move as they have won four of six on the road and will play three of their next four away from home.

Now’s the time to step on the gas pedal and really get ready for the playoffs,” Boozer said.

As for the Dallas Mavericks (36-23), they may be in a loaded and dangerous Western Conference, but have to be feeling confident about they way they have been playing of late moving to a season-high 13 games above .500 as Monte Ellis (19.0 ppg) and Dirk Nowitski (21.6 ppg) continue to pace the team.

The last 12 games we’ve been playing together as a team,” Ellis said. “I think we are coming along at the right time. I think everybody is tuned in and accepting their role of what they need to do to help us win. The biggest thing is that everyone is playing together.”

The Mavs have won 10 of 12, four of five at home and an impressive 13 of 15 at A.A Center against the Bulls, so it is no surprise that oddsmakers have made the Mavericks a (minus -4.5) point favorite, but stay up to date on all the latest odds here at Wonder Punter up until game time.

Both teams are playing great and this will come down to the great defense of the Bulls (91.3 points allowed) trying to slow down the good offensive of the Mavericks (104.6 ppg) and although the Mavs can put some points on the board, their defense is questionable giving up 102.1 points per game and with that am going to predict the Bulls doing enough on both ends of the court to get out of Dallas with a big road win.

Free NBA Pick Nets vs. Bulls 2014

Brooklyn Nets (24-26, 8-15 away) @ Chicago Bulls (26-25, 14-10 home) 02/13- 8:00PM EST

Line: CHI -3.5

Over/Under: 185.0

For the first time in more than three long months, the Chicago Bulls have a chance to go two games above the .500 mark with a victory Thursday night against the visiting Brooklyn Nets.

Despite the loss of Derick Rose earlier in the season, the Bulls (26-25) have still been playing hard, especially the likes of All-Star Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson and now with the expected return of Carlos Boozer (calf strain) back, the Bulls will be in search of their fourth victory in five games as they get ready for the All-Star break.

On Tuesday night against the Atlanta Hawks in their 100-85 home win, Gibson scored a game-high 24 points and 12 boards but it was Noah who was a one man show recording his fourth career triple-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists.

Noah has been getting it done all season for the most part and over his last four games has averaged 15.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists. Against the Nets in his last five contests, Noah has been effective as well averaging 14.8 points and 10.8 rebounds… including last year’s first-round series that the Bulls won in seven games.

I think the big thing is he’s healthy. He’s gotten into rhythm,” coach Tom Thibodeau said. “I think missing camp set him back offensively. Defensively, he’s been terrific all year.”

Gibson has been terrific over his last three games in place of Boozer averaging 22.7 points and 10.3 rebounds but Thibodeau will send Gibson back to the bench to give the second unit a lift. Boozer, the teams starting forward, leads the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game.

As for Brooklyn (24-26), the seasons early first half proved horrendous, but now have seem to have found their way as of late and will be looking for their fifth win in six games and also to avenge a 95-78 home loss to the Bulls back on Christmas day.

The Nets had high expectations with their veteran players and talent coming into the 2013-14 season, but now may be finally finding their groove as well. Point guard Deron Williams (6.7 assists), power forward Paul Pierce (13.4 ppg) and center Kevin Garnett (6.9 ppg) are the cornerstones of the team.

A veteran ballclub understands that the games right before the break are important because you’re planning vacations, or planning to go to All-Star weekend, and sometimes the game becomes secondary,” coach Jason Kidd said. “A lot of the guys, for the most part, didn’t play a lot of minutes, so we’ll see what happens (in Chicago).

Both teams are not known for their offensive power, but the Bulls under Thibodeau pride themselves on defense allowing an average of just 92.7 points per game and it’s that defense the oddsmakers are counting on as they have made the Bulls a (minus -3.5) point favorite with an over/under of just 185.0, but get the latest lines on the game up until tip off right here at Wonder Punter.

The Nets have been playing well as of late and although they haven’t faired well in Chicago losing their last 12 of 15 games in the windy city, expect a tight, well fought game from both teams as they look to finish the first half of the season strong, but if Boozer is able to go…. I have to favor the Bulls.

Dunleavy on Cousins’ talk: He’s the ‘clown’

Thibodeau denies report linking him to Knicks job

Is Mary Thibodeau headed to Fresh York?

(USATSI)Is Tom Thibodeau headed to New York? (USATSI)
On Sunday, often theNew York Daily announcementdocumented something really bold about Chicago Bulls coach Ben Thibodeau.

You can find rumblings around typically the Chicago Bulls' offices these kinds of days that ben Thibodeau already has a handle spot to coach the Knicks next season.

Well, Thibodeau is actually represented by CAA, the one and only firm that Jim Dolan wants to deal with when it comes to online players and coaches. But is usually extremely difficult in order to believe that an agreement has been struck with typically the an ancient Knicks assistant to be able to come back to be able to Brand new York, since he's beneath contract to coach the Bulls through 2016-17. You may just imagine often the results if a Thibodeau-Knick option were to be proven real. at this time there wouldn't be merely a primary tampering case right here, nonetheless Thibodeau would deal with peine from the NBA, possibly blocking his shift to the Garden.

by using Chicago, il Bulls' Tom Thibodeau to be able to Knicks rumors just compounded after Luol Deng business – NY day-to-day Information.

noted that the Bulls could tradeLuol Deng just days and nights before Chicago moved often the All-Star forward to Cleveland. wednesday night, Thibodeau jeered off of the report. From CSN chicago , il:

The coach dismissed the whole story out of pocket sticking with Saturday night's 103-97 Bulls' win over typically the Bobcats in the United Middle.

“Come on, today. Come upon, ” Thibodeau laughed. “That stuff's ridiculous. It really is. First, I was being exchanged. I could care fewer about that things. I have said it previously: I actually love this team, I really like the guys that we have and I like the fighting spirit of this group, so that's almost all now i'm thinking about. ”

via Bulls' Tom Thibodeau forbids 'agreement' with Knicks | CSN Chicago. Couple of difficulties here.

One, this really is far, significantly from the first time there's been noise about Thibodeau to be unhappy with the Bulls. these people slow-rolled him for an extendable, such as they seem to perform with every situation that involves offering personnel funds. Two, there was the unsightly situation with the help of assistant Ron Adams, which the Bulls let go above Thibodeau's objections.

And that CAA linkage the Daily News pointed out shouldn't be overlooked. Of which agent has proven to be able to have large power within the league.

It's not almost Thibodeau being unhappy having Chicago or the Knicks hoping him. It's that the Bulls have in no way shown an enthusiasm to commit to keeping people such as Thibodeau. Thibodeau, certainly, will be going to treat this particular for the reason that ridiculous, as instructors regularly do in these situations. However it bears from least watching, otherwise with regard to Thibs actually causing regarding the Knicks, then in order to see how his connection with the help of Chicago's management building the rebuild goes. Since all of this "noise" is approaching from some time.

NBA Power rankings and standings for week 4

Sad ending for week 3 of the young NBA season for both the Chicago Bulls and Memphis Grizzles.

The swift announcement Monday morning that Derrick Rose is indeed out for the season after another major knee injury, even if you were expecting Rose’s surgery to produce such a dire diagnosis, hit the league hard. And seeing the Memphis Grizzlies lose Marc Gasol indefinitely to a knee injury of his own certainly didn’t help, even though Gasol’s will not require surgery.

The resulting hunt for something (anything) resembling a pick-me-up could take us only to Portland, where the Blazers have extended their improbable winning streak to a whopping 10 games, with three of the victories in a 4-0 week coming on the road.

The defending champs from Miami did nothing terribly wrong in the past seven days besides flirting Saturday night with a home loss to Orlando … but your NBA Power Rankings committee (of one), in the circumstances, couldn’t resist. The Blazers have been bumped up four spots to No. 3 in this week’s most significant move in the top 10 — one spot ahead of No. 4 Miami. This is partly a reward for giving us at least one upbeat headline to stack up against all the bad injury news, and also a result of the rampantly bad basketball coming from two-thirds of the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies remain at No. 14 despite the loss of Gasol and the Bulls have tumbled to No. 18, as a result of the huge Derrick Rose loss. The Nuggets with their recent play jumped six spots to No. 11.

NBA Teams standings 1-30 with records and last week’s rankings in parenthesis are as followed:

1 San Antonio Spurs (13-1 LW: 2)- The Spurs continue to roll as Tim Duncan continues to put up less than average numbers and three of their wins have come against teams without winning records, but yet they sport the leagues only double-digit nightly average point margin.

2 Indiana Pacers (13-1 LW: 1)- Cleary the class of the East as of now and they are getting it done with defense as Paul George and Roy Hibbert who already has blocked at least five shots in seven of the 13 games this season are getting it done early.

3 Portland Trailblazers (13-2 LW: 7)- Jumping four spots in our top 10 are the Blazers who despite beating up on the sub-.500 teams to get to 13-2 on their 11-game win streak, let’s not forget six of the Blazers 10-straight wins were on the road.

4 Miami Heat (11-3 LW: 3)- With the only hiccup in the week being that they had to claw back from a 16-point deficit to the Orlando Magic and losses to Philly and Boston in the rear view mirror, they seem to be getting back to the team that we all know.

nba power rankings

5 Los Angeles Clippers (10-5 LW: 4)- The Clips survived a tough five-game stretch in which they lost a tough home game against the Grizzles and ended it by beating the Bulls by 39 points.

6 Oklahoma City Thunder (9-3 LW: 8)- The Thunder are just one of five teams that have not lost at home, joining Indy, San Antonio, Dallas and Chicago. Sitting down Russell Westbrook against the hapless Jazz was a good move in light of what the Thunder are asking him to do on a nightly basis.

7 Golden State Warriors (8-6 LW: 5)- Warriors are 8-2 when their complement of players are on the court, but they will be challenged as they get set to play seven of the next eight on the road.

8 Houston Rockets (10-5 LW: 9)- The Rockets let James Harden rest his nagging foot that has been a nuisance since Mid-October. The key when he gets back is letting Chandler Parsons get enough touches of the rock behind Dwight and Harden.

9 Dallas Mavericks (9-6 LW: 11)- Monta Ellis leads the Mavs in scoring to finally get the much needed help to Dirk Nowitski who has led Dallas in scoring every year since the 2000-01 season. A welcome relief finally.

10 Minnesota Timberwolves (8-8 LW: 6)- Beating Brooklyn helped the T’Wolves avoid going 0-4, however they were no match for the Pacers on the road on Monday night.

11 Denver Nuggets (7-6 LW: 17)- The recent Nuggets success can be attributed to winning at home again and Kenneth Faried scoring six double-doubles in seven games after having just one in his first five games.

12 Phoenix Suns (7-7, LW: 12)- Electric Eric Bledsoe has been slowed by a bruised shin, but responded with road wins in Charlotte and Orlando. The Suns did suffer a lopsided defeat in Miami on Monday night.

13 Atlanta Hawks (8-6 LW: 13)- Hawks are only one of three teams with a winning record in the East. They did lose a bad home game to the Celtics… but they are in the East and winning in a weak conference.

14 Memphis Grizzles (7-7 LW: 14)- The Grizzles were just starting to heat up sweeping all four of the California teams in a span of six days…. Then Marc Gasol goes down on Friday night with a knee sprain and news is no surgery required, but will be sidelined around 2 months.

15 Los Angeles Lakers (7-7 LW: 19)- The Lakers to this point have silenced the nay-sayers with their .500 record.. and all without Kobe Bryant who is expected to return soon. Pau Gasol is heating up in Kobe’s absence having racked up eight double-doubles.

16 New Orleans Pelicans (6-7 LW: 18)- Pelicans big man Anthony Davis is the only player close to Hibbert in terms of games (five) with at least five blocks. They were no match on the road Monday night against the Spurs.

17 Charlotte Bobcats (7-8)- The Bobcats are 4-3 on the road, which is good news considering they were 9-65 over the previous two seasons. Al Jefferson has been in and out of the lineup with ankle issues. The lost at home Monday night against Boston.

18 Chicago Bulls (6-7 LW: 10)- Just sad news all-around for the Chicago Bulls who now realize they will once again have to play the rest of the season without their star Derrick Rose who suffered a major knee injury at Portland. Sad, sad, sad.

nba power rankings

19 Toronto Raptors (6-7 LW: 22)- Liken the NFL’s NFC East, the NBA’s Atlantic Division is just the same…. Bad! One game under .500 and they are in first place. Go figure?

20 Philadelphia Sixers (6-9 LW: 16)- Still playing better then expected and despite their record… are in second place in the Atlantic Division at only one game back… huh?

21 Washington Wizards (5-8)- Still struggling early on… but G John Wall scored 30 points in consecutive games. It’s safe to say the Wizards go as John Wall goes.

22 Detroit Pistons (6-8 LW: 27)- Josh Smith… the new ‘face’ of the franchise is finding it difficult being ‘the man’ as he has been benched more then once and was booed on his return to Atlanta.

23 Orlando Magic (4-9 LW: 21)- Victor Oladipo has been inserted into the starting lineup… and as the face of the Magic future… seems like a good move.

24 Boston Celtics (6-10 LW: 25)- Celts halted their six-game skid at Atlanta and the good news is that the schedule will lighten up after facing Portland, San Antonio and Indiana in a space of a week.

25 Sacramento Kings (4-9)- With the ‘one-man show’ of DeMarcus Cousins not getting any support, talk around Kings camp is some possible moves coming up.

26 Cleveland Cavaliers (4-10 LW: 20)- Kyrie Irving is frustrated as the Cavs along with Andrew Bynum are underachieving in a weak Eastern Conference. LeBron will be making his return visit to Cleveland on Wednesday.

27 New York Knicks (3-10 LW: 24)- The Knicks just went winless at home in November with a relatively easy schedule, now must pack their bags and head West where it won’t get any easier as they already lost on Monday night in Portland.

28 Brooklyn Nets (3-10 LW: 23)- Just a horrible start to a Nets team that came in having great promise, but an ailing D. Williams is not helping.

29 Milwaukee Bucks (2-11 LW: 28)- If it weren’t for the Utah Jazz, the Bucks would be at the bottom… but an array of early season injuries isn’t helping their cause.

30 Utah Jazz (2-14 LW: 30)- As if losing Derrick Rose wasn’t bad enough… the Chicago Bulls lost to the Jazz on Monday night. Ouch!

Roseis back! as Bulls beat pacers

Bulls Hand Pacers First Loss

CHICAGO – Derrick Rose came to work uncertain if he’d be capable to play.

He left along with his confidence intact and his group’s future trying very vibrant.

Luol Deng scored 23 factors, Rose added 20 and the Chicago Bulls knocked off the NBA’s last unbeaten staff with a one hundred ten-ninety four win over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.

Taj Gibson had 15 factors and eight rebounds for Chicago (5-three), which received its fourth straight game behind eleven-of-19 shooting from three-point vary.

“We got off to an excellent start,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau stated. “(The Pacers) missed some photographs that they often make. Total, I believed it was a good win. We performed very unselfishly.”

Indiana (9-1) was the NBA’s first 9-zero crew since the 2002-03 Dallas Mavericks, who began 14-zero. The 9 wins to start a season matched a franchise file.

Nursing a sore right hamstring, Rose was effective in his 30 minutes on the courtroom. He weaved around and penetrated the league’s greatest protection, which hadn’t allowed greater than ninety one factors to any opponent this yr.

Rose was injured Monday in opposition to Cleveland, and didn’t play in Chicago’s ninety six-eighty win Friday at Toronto.

“I used to be just being good concerning the state of affairs,” he mentioned about not taking part in Friday. “This is my first time having a hamstring damage. I do not understand how it would go if I had played last night time. I do not suppose I would be capable to play tonight.”

The 25-yr-previous former MVP shook off the rust after a pair of early off-balance misses. He sank a floater in the lane 3 minutes in, adopted by a 3-pointer 30 seconds later to ignite a 12-2 first-quarter run for Chicago.

“They have been giving me shots,” Rose mentioned. “I’ve bought to take those shots. I saw some go in, so I stored capturing.”

Rose cozied up on the three-point arc within the second quarter, flattening all three attempts as the Bulls took a 25-point advantage into the half. He completed 6 for 11 from beyond the arc.

“Most of Rose’s 3s were pretty properly contested contemplating his pace,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. “You can’t simply jam him. You must give up one thing. It’s a must to give them credit.”

Kirk Hinrich came off the bench to contribute 13 points, eight assists and 4 rebounds for the Bulls, who avenged a 97-80 loss at Indiana on Nov. 6.

The Pacers lost regardless of having all 5 starters – and two reserves – rating in double-digits.

Rose tallies winner vs. Knicks

Rose Lifts Bulls Previous Knicks

CHICAGO – Neglect concerning the neck stiffness that almost postponed Derrick Rose’s homecoming. Neglect about all these missed shots, too.

Rose made the one play that mattered Thursday night time, and it was identical to previous instances for the Chicago Bulls.

Rose related on a baseline floater with 5.7 seconds left to carry Chicago to an eighty two-eighty one victory over the New York Knicks in his first residence sport since he injured his left knee 18 months in the past.

“That is what builds your résumé,” Rose stated. “Leaves a mark on your legacy.”

The 2011 NBA MVP had 18 points on 7-of-23 shooting and dedicated 4 turnovers. However there was little question who was getting the ball after Tyson Chandler went 1-for-2 on the line to present New York an eighty one-eighty lead with 10.eight seconds remaining.

Rose, who was a recreation-time determination for Chicago’s dwelling opener on account of an achy neck, got the ball on the wing, drove to the baseline and lofted a nicely-positioned floater over the 7-foot Chandler and Raymond Felton for the go-ahead basket, drawing a standing ovation from the delirious crowd of 22,022.

“I was right there. He simply made a giant-time play,” Chandler said. “I don’t know if he noticed the basket to be honest with you.”

New York had one final likelihood however Carmelo Anthony missed a long jumper. Anthony then stood along with his palms on his hips as the Bulls celebrated.

“I acquired the look I needed,” Anthony stated.

Chicago had simply two field targets within the ultimate period – both by Rose – and committed six turnovers within the last 12 minutes. But it still managed to equal a franchise record with its sixth consecutive win in dwelling openers.

Luol Deng had 17 factors and Carlos Boozer completed with 14 as the Bulls beat the Knicks for the sixth straight time.

“It’s tough once you go right into a game and you don’t know who you have got,” coach Tom Thibodeau mentioned. “That’s all a part of it. It’s the start of the season. As long as we are putting everything into each day and strive for improvement, it will work out.”

New York coach Mike Woodson opted for an even bigger look towards Chicago, inserting 7-foot Andrea Bargnani into the beginning lineup and using guard Pablo Prigioni as a reserve. However the Bulls nonetheless enjoyed a forty six-24 advantage in points in the paint and a 48-forty two rebounding edge, led by Joakim Noah’s 15 boards.

“We competed tonight. It says lots for our membership,” Woodson mentioned. “Now I simply must do a better job getting us by down the stretch.”

Amar’e Stoudemire made his season debut for the Knicks and had five factors in eleven minutes. The facility ahead, who turns 31 on Nov. 16, is coming off minor knee surgical procedure over the summer and looked as if the years of well being problems had robbed him of much of his athleticism.

“More than happy with how I felt tonight, so far as my physique,” he stated. “Simply going to proceed to maintain building and preserve getting higher.”

New York trailed 76-66 with 7:53 remaining, but rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. made a 3-pointer to spark a 12-zero run for the Knicks. Felton related from lengthy vary, Iman Shumpert had a dunk and Anthony closed out the spurt with a turnaround jumper that put New York in entrance with 4:10 remaining.

The last a part of the sport largely consisted of turnovers and missed photographs, but Chicago managed to outlive behind Rose.

“He showed lots of toughness,” Thibodeau mentioned. “It was a battle early on in the recreation. He discovered his way at the start of the third, that got him a little carry.”

Jimmy Butler finished with eleven factors and 10 rebounds for Chicago, which lost 107-95 at NBA champion Miami in its season opener on Tuesday evening.

Anthony led New York with 22 points on eight-of-24 shooting. Chandler had 19 rebounds, but the Knicks were unable to open the season with consecutive victories on consecutive nights. They have been coming off a ninety-83 victory against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Wearing strips of black tape on both facet of his achy neck, Rose acquired a thunderous ovation from the sellout crowd when he was the final participant launched in the course of the pregame festivities. He showed no outward emotion as he ran out of the tunnel with fans waving glowing purple sticks in celebration of the return of the Chicago native.

After Rose acquired on the court docket, chants of “M-V-P! M-V-P!” rang out from the seats at the United Center.

It was Rose’s first actual game on the Bulls’ longtime house since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in the first recreation of the 2012 playoffs in opposition to Philadelphia. What followed was a protracted and arduous rehabilitation process that raised questions on Rose’s toughness when he was unable to return last season.

That entire “Will he or won’t he play” episode was long forgotten when he took the courtroom towards the Knicks, taking a fast moment to blow a kiss toward the posh packing containers earlier than tipoff.

The speedy level guard was just 2-for-11 from the sector within the first half, but Deng had 12 points to assist Chicago to a forty three-38 lead at the break.

“I am not going to continue lacking shots that I’m missing,” Rose said, pointing to what he thinks will probably be even higher days forward. “I work too exhausting.”

Recreation notes

Chicago improved to 27-21 in house openers, together with a 12-8 report on the United Center… Hardaway provided a spark as a reserve, finishing with 10 factors.

Go away it to the oddsmakers on this playing city to show simply how unhealthy issues could be for a staff contending for nothing however the NBA’s subsequent prime draft decide.

Because the regular season ideas off, the over-below for 76ers victories is 16.5, the lowest of any team and the lowest total LVH sports guide oddsmaker Jeff Sherman can keep in mind putting up on any NBA crew previously decade or so.

Which means optimistic Philly fans (assuming there are any for a group with only a handful of reputable NBA players) can win in the event that they wager their workforce will win 17 times through the 82-game season.

Which means optimistic Philly fans (assuming there are any for a workforce with only a handful of reliable NBA players) can win if they wager their crew will win 17 times throughout the 82-game season. Conversely, those who assume the 76ers are even worse than they appear can cash in if the win complete is sixteen or fewer.

“They’ve pretty much made it identified in Philadelphia they’re attempting to get the No. 1 choose for Andrew Wiggins and not holding again,” Sherman stated. “Groups try for the draft pick typically late within the season, but they’re basically doing it the whole season.”

It will get even higher for true believers. They will get odds of 9,999-1 if they wish to wager at the LVH on the 76ers profitable the title.

“It was the very best quantity our computer systems would let us put in,” Sherman mentioned.

The 76ers aren’t alone in coveting Wiggins, who has scouts drooling even though he’s simply beginning his freshman season at Kansas. Things are pretty dismal within the desert, too, with the Phoenix Suns posted as the next-worst staff with an over-under complete of 19.5 wins.

Perhaps most shocking, although, is that oddsmakers have such little respect for the probabilities of the Los Angeles Lakers and their ageing and injury-susceptible forged of stars. They believe the Lakers will lose more than they win, with an over-below of 34.5 wins for the season.

“We have been writing a number of over money from the general public having a tough time believing the Lakers are going to be that bad,” Sherman said. “Now we have a different view when you look at how extreme Kobe’s injury is and the mileage of [Steve] Nash and [Pau] Gasol.”

Sherman, who groups with fellow oddsmaker Ed Salmons to put up the primary betting traces weeks before the season opens, has the defending champion Miami Heat favored again for many wins, though with an over-below of 60.5 he would not believe the Warmth will method final season’s win whole of 66.

“That was one of the easier ones and it was close to what we had last year,” he stated. “They gained greater than that last 12 months, but that included a 27-sport profitable streak that we do not anticipate to be repeated.”

Miami is also favored at 2-1 to win one other NBA title, adopted by the Oklahoma Metropolis Thunder at 9-2, the Chicago Bulls at 6-1 and the San Antonio Spurs at 8-1.

Chicago Bulls- 95

Miami Heat- 107

Once the Miami Heat received their second-straight championship rings and raised the banner, they knew it was time to get down to business once again to kick off the start of the 2013-14 NBA season, and that they did as they sent a message to the team that is expected to dethrone them… the Chicago Bulls.

The Heat shook off an early ‘ring ceremony hangover’ and turned what was expected to be a tight game all night into a Miami blowout win over the Bulls 107-95.

The final score was closer then it should have been with the Heat leading by as much as 25-points in the second half, but a late Bulls charge kept things somewhat interesting.

You never know what to expect when you’re trying to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s the game.” Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said. “But you can’t deny the emotions and what a special moment it was for everybody in the organization because we know how difficult that was and how harrowing that was last season. So it was great to actually get the win after that to cap off a very good night for the Miami Heat.”

LeBron James finished the night with 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Chicago’s Derrick Rose was also the story of the night after missing all of last season recovering from a serious knee injury in April 2012. He finished with 12 points in 34 minutes. Carlos Boozer was the big scorer of the night for the Bulls with 31 points and seven boards.

Chicago fought back from a 25-point deficit and got the score back to as close as eight points but Miami’s Shane Battier hit a big three and ended any comeback from there.

We’re not trying to pull close. There were a lot of corrections that we have to make,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. “It always comes back to the same thing—our defense and our rebounding. And if we could have taken better care of the ball early on, we would have been in position to win down the stretch.”

Rose ended the night 4 for 15 for the Bulls.

Said Rose, “If anything, I’m disappointed in the loss. My performance, I can easily change that by making shots and keep down the turnovers.”

Miami had seven players in double-figures.

It’s a team game,” James said. “That’s what this team is put together for.”

Including last year’s playoffs, Miami has now beaten the Bulls five straight games.

As an alternative, the Warmth have been just preparing for a bodily battle on the courtroom in Tuesday’s season opener against the Chicago Bulls. After the Heat workers introduced out the football pads to follow for the first time this preseason, the message is clear.

LeBron James and Joakim NoahLeBron James and the Miami Heat could have much more than Joakim Noah to deal with within the season opener. Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng are again in the fold for the Bulls after missing the Japanese Conference finals last season.

“No, under no circumstances,” Bosh said after the 20-minute drill. “It is all deliberate. We know they’re big, bodily and we all know we now have to finish.”

The Heat expect the Bulls to be further motivated Tuesday, and never just because it marks level guard Derrick Rose’s first sport again since struggling a torn ACL in April 2012. The Heat may also be raising their 2012-thirteen championship banner and getting their rings earlier than the sport, and it is not lost them that they ended the Bulls’ season in the Jap Conference semifinals just 5 months ago.

“It don’t matter who it is,” James said of the opponent for the opener. “However we like the truth that it’s the Bulls.”

Not that the Bulls will be watching. As an alternative, they will be within the locker room, coach Tom Thibodeau said Monday.

“That is their ceremony, not ours,” Rose stated. “If we have been getting our rings there can be a bit of little bit of a distraction, however for us we know that we bought to stay targeted, come together as a team, and really take their first hit because they’re definitely going to be on charge.”

The Bulls have been right here earlier than. After the Warmth gained the title in 2006, the Bulls have been in Miami for opening evening and the banner elevating ceremony. Chicago blasted Miami 108-sixty six. Only Udonis Haslem and Wade remain from that group, whereas Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich are the one Bulls who were around then.

The Warmth were in the Bulls’ shoes just two years in the past. After losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 Finals, the Warmth opened the season in Dallas after the lockout ended and obtained revenge by beating the Mavs by double digits.

“We wished to embarrass [the Mavericks] on their residence ground,” Bosh stated. “We wanted to defecate on their night time and we all know [the Bulls] need to do this to us. They need to spoil what we have going and we’re aware of that. Now we have to hit first.”

The Bulls, who were the one NBA crew with an eight-zero preseason document, are again expected to challenge the Warmth for the Eastern Conference crown this season. With Rose, Hinrich and Deng anticipated to be again in the fold after being sidelined in the Japanese Conference semifinals, the Bulls shall be as healthy as they’ve been in over a year.

After battling groin soreness during the preseason, Bulls center Joakim Noah has declared himself “100 percent” for Tuesday’s season opener.

“We’ve a special little thing with these guys,” Bosh stated. “The fans want to see it. We want to play them and so they want us, too. So it’ll be good.”

Wade, who grew up in Chicago, agreed there’s exhausting feelings between the two organizations with Miami having ended the Bulls’ season twice in the last three years.

“We’re each trying to do something, attempting to win [a championship],” Wade said. “You are going to run into each other alongside the best way and you are going to dislike one another. They wish to beat us as badly as we want to beat them.”

Wade expects the competition within the East, starting with the Bulls, to be even more durable this season.

“Our aim right here is to not get bored,” Wade mentioned. “Do not get uninterested in making an attempt to be great. Now we have to understand that we’re champions and we will get each different staff’s finest shot.”

Greg Oden, who signed with the Heat as a free agent through the offseason and hasn’t performed a regular-season sport in more than 4 years, remains to be everyday, coach Erik Spoelstra mentioned.
