NFL Prediction & Preview/Pick- Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore Week 13 Thursday Night Game

steelers_ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers (5-6) @ Baltimore Ravens (5-6) 11/28- 8:30PM EST

Line: BAL -3.0

Over/Under: 40.5

The Pittsburgh Steelers are playing their best football of the season, but are still on the outside of the muddled AFC playoff picture. With a Thanksgiving night visit to their archrival Baltimore Ravens, they face a team that’s essentially in the exact same position.

Both AFC North teams are among the half-dozen teams in the conference currently tied for the final wild-card berth, making this game a potentially season-altering contest.

“That team is hot,” Ravens running back Ray Rice said of the Steelers. “They’re playing good football right now. They have (a) group, they have their stable of how they want to play football and they’re doing a good job of it right now.”

The two teams are tied with Titans, Chargers, Jets and Dolphins for the sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC, though Tennessee would make the cut currently. The top two tiebreakers for the wild card are head-to-head record and winning percentage within the conference, and with Baltimore having already lost in Pittsburgh, the Ravens may be especially desperate Thursday.

“They are a tough team, we have to go into their place and look forward to a good battle,” said Steelers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery. “There is a lot on the line with this game like it always is when we play them. It always seems like whenever either team is trying to get somewhere, the other is in their way.

“It’s that way this week as we are battling in the division and it’s going to be a good game Thanksgiving night.”

Pittsburgh (5-6) has won three games in a row, all by double-digits. During the stretch, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been mostly mistake-free, completing 63.3 percent of his passes while throwing seven touchdowns to just one interception.

Roethlisberger threw for two scores in a 27-11 win at Cleveland in Week 12, but the Steelers’ best performance came from their defense. The unit had a season-high five sacks, held the Browns to just 55 rushing yards, and cornerback William Gay sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown.

“Defensively, it was simple. We were able to stop the run, and that put us in position to apply pressure to the quarterback,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said. “In doing so, we were able to create some turnovers and some big plays, and to actually score.”

The Steelers have given up just 4.97 yards per play during their streak after New England shredded them for 8.59 per snap in a 55-31 loss Nov. 3, and they could have another good chance to shine Thursday. The Ravens’ offense ranks 31st in the NFL, averaging just 4.54 yards per play.

When the teams met on Oct. 20 at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh held the Ravens out of the end zone until Baltimore tied the score at 16 with 1:58 to play. Roethlisberger then drove the Steelers down the field, setting up a game-winning 42-yard field goal from Shaun Suisham.

That close contest was hardly an exception to the rivals’ recent matchups. Since the start of the 2009 season, eight of the teams’ nine meetings have been decided by exactly three points.

Baltimore (5-6) also is coming off of a win dominated by its defense, having knocked off the Jets 19-3 on Sunday. The Ravens’ pass defense was outstanding, allowing Geno Smith to compete just 40.9 percent of his throws, and Baltimore cornerback Corey Graham had a pair of interceptions.

“In the end, we just felt like let’s win a game just for the defense, for us,” cornerback Lardarius Webb said. “Not nobody else, just defense let’s go out and try to win a game on our own.”

The Ravens have been a much better team this season at M&T Bank Stadium. Baltimore is 4-1 at home, allowing just 10.8 points per game in those contests.

The Steelers have won three of their last five visits to Baltimore, though, including a 23-20 win last December with Charlie Batch filling in for an injured Roethlisberger. The Ravens have lost only five of their other 42 home games since 2009.

And it’s with that impressive home record and the way they play in their own stadium that the oddsmakers have made the Ravens a slim (minus) -3.0 point favorite on Thanksgiving night. With a tight opening spread, be sure to check back here through Wonder Punter for the latest lines up until game time.

Though having such an important game on a short week makes for potentially challenging circumstances, the two sides won’t have to go through much new information.

“We’ll be running stuff that we know and understand against a team that we pretty much understand,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “I’m sure there will be a wrinkle or two that they’ll throw at us that we’ll have to be ready for and just go play football.”

There’s one wrinkle Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco would prefer his team not employ, however. Baltimore used backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the wildcat often against the Jets, with Taylor taking five snaps and lining up as a receiver on seven other plays.

Flacco was not a fan.

“I don’t like that stuff. … I’m the quarterback,” Flacco said. “I want to be behind the line of scrimmage, I want to be taking the snaps.”

As much as I love the Ravens at home, they have been struggling offensively this season. The Steelers are in a grove and with that said… I predict a close Steelers victory on Thanksgiving night. Pittsburgh has done a complete 360 turnaround from the beginning of the season.

PICK: Pittsburgh

The NFC North will not be the most steady of all of the conferences within the league, and on Sunday, two four-win groups are going to see if they will make some headway into taking it all when the Pittsburgh Steelers head west to Cleveland to tackle the Browns.

After getting off to what seemed like a disastrous begin, we’re beginning to see glimpses of the Steelers crew that we all thought we’d see this season. After looking as if they were dead to rites within the first half in opposition to the Lions last Sunday, Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers fought back for the 37-27 victory, which was additionally their second win in a row. Big Ben put up a 367-yard effort, which is ultimately what this crew needs to stay on the track to a return to the playoffs.

One week after serving to themselves in the divisional race by defeating the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, the Browns took one other step back final week after they dropped one to the Bengals, 41-20. The defense ranks 4th in opposition to the push and 8th towards the cross this yr, they usually’ll need all of that to indicate up towards this Pittsburgh crew that’s beginning to indicate indicators of life on offense, especially by way of the air.

Date: Nov. 24

Odds: Browns -1

Prediction: The Steelers are beginning to place every thing collectively. We’ve seen what some of the guys on this crew are able to beneath Mike Tomlin when they get in a groove. The Browns, however, don’t actually appear to have any kind of identity constructed up as of but. Pittsburgh shouldn’t have any concern taking this one in the AFC North.

Bears at Rams: odds, prediction and preview

Nov 17, 2013; Chicago, IL, USA; Chicago Bears operating back Matt Forte (22) breaks a sort out towards Baltimore Ravens strong security James Ihedigbo (32) to attain a landing through the second half at Soldier Area. Mandatory Credit score: Rob Grabowski-USA AT THE MOMENT Sports activities

The 6-4 Chicago Bears will try to improve their NFC North championship hopes after they travel to St. Louis to tackle the four-6 Rams Sunday.

The Bears will probably be without starting quarterback Jay Cutler for the third time this 12 months and if backup Josh McCown can defeat the Rams, he’ll be an ideal three-zero as a starter on the season. McCown has completed 61-of-one hundred and one passes for 754 yards with 5 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Rams also had to flip to a backup quarterback in Kellen Clemens after starter Sam Bradford tore his ACL in a 30-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers again on October 20. Clemens is 46-of-86 for 634 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Bears are coming off an 23-20 extra time victory over the Baltimore Ravens while the Rams enjoyed a bye every week after dismantling the Indianapolis Colts 38-eight.

The Bears’ defense is taking part in a lot better than it did earlier in the season they usually might want to keep it up against a Rams’ offense that has discovered a few rookie playmakers in huge receiver Tavon Austin and operating again Zac Stacey. Austin had two catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 98 yards for a touchdown in that victory over the Colts. Stacy has rushed for 537 yards and three touchdowns on 129 carries this season.

Though the Bears have had an excellent passing attack that includes large receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey and tight finish Martellus Bennett, they could have hassle defending McCown in opposition to the Rams’ cross rushers, Chris Long and Robert Quinn. Kyle Lengthy, Chris’ little brother, is a starting guard for the Bears.

Matt Forte, who has rushed for 774 yards and seven touches, will likely carry the load for the Bears again.

The Rams are a one-level favorite, but I just like the Bears to go away St. Louis with a detailed victory based on the improved play of their protection and strong play from McCown.

Power Rankings NFL week 12

Last night’s Monday night game brought to an end of another exciting week in football in which some teams improved their Power Rankings and others continued to fall as quarterback injuries have taken their toll. Week 11 also brought the end of the NFL’s only unbeaten team when Kansas City fell to the Broncos.

Here is this week’s Week 12 Power Rankings for teams 1-32 with records and last week’s ranking.

Place your bets here upto $1000 signup bonus

1 Denver Broncos (9-1 LW: 2)- Round 1 goes to the Broncos… rematch with KC in two weeks.

2 Seattle Seahawks (10-1 LW: 3) Other then a home game against the Saints, they should be able to run the table the rest of the way.

3 New Orleans Saints (8-2 LW: 4)- Undefeated at home so far… but the playoffs may mean winning on the road.

4 Carolina Panthers (7-3 LW: 6)- Beating quality teams now and only getting better.

5 Kansas City Chiefs (9-1 LW: 1)- Still a solid team on defense… but the offense will need to get better if they expect to make some noise in the playoffs.

6 New England Patriots (7-3 LW: 5)- Patriots are still looking for the flag… they got earlier in the year against the Saints. So…

7 Indianapolis Colts (7-3 LW: 7)- Good comeback win at Tennessee, but I still think Rams game.

8 San Francisco 49ers (6-4 LW: 8)- They were so close to being 8-2…. Two tough games in a row.

9 Cincinnati Bengals (7-4 LW: 10)- Their win on Sunday should put them in position for the AFC North crown and a first-round bye.

10 Detroit Lions (6-4 LW 9)- Can we do the fake field goal play over again?

11 Chicago Bears (6-4 LW: 12)- Big home win over the Ravens.. which Rams team will they face on Sunday?

12 Philadelphia Eagles (6-4 LW: 13)- Finally a team in the NFC East is playing like they want to win it.. Nick Foles getting it done.

13 New York Jets (5-5 LW: 13)- Jekyll and Hyde if you ask me… we just don’t know what team will show up on Sundays.

14 Arizona Cardinals (6-4 LW: 16)- Winning games despite no running game and a QB who’s thrown more INTs then TDs.

15 Miami Dolphins (5-5 LW: 21)- Gritty performance and win against San Diego with all the distractions staring at them.

16 San Diego Chargers (4-6 LW: 17)- If they could just finish games… but now they still have three games left against the Chiefs and Broncos.

17 Dallas Cowboys (5-5 LW: 15)- Big game against the resurgent Giants Sunday on the road.

18 Green Bay Packers (5-5 LW: 14)- No Aaron Rodgers…. No hope!

19 Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6 LW: 25)- Is this the same Steelers team who we all left for dead earlier? Held the Lions scoreless in the second half.

20 Cleveland Browns (4-6 LW: 18)- Big home game on Sunday against the Steelers. If they win… maybe still a chance?

21 Buffalo Bills (4-7 LW: 27)- Winnable games coming up against the Bucs, Falcons, Jags and Dolphins… Wildcard? hmmm maybe.

22 Baltimore Ravens (4-6 LW: 19)- Failing to score on first-and-goal at the Chicago 5-yard line. Story of the year for the offense.

23 St Louis Rams (4-6 LW 20)- In a division with Seattle and San Francisco… it’s tough.

24 New York Giants (4-6 LW: 26)- Four wins in a row now with Dallas coming up.

25 Oakland Raiders (4-6 LW: 24)- Is Matt McGloin the answer at quarterback?

26 Tennessee Titans (4-6 LW: 22)- How big do the losses to the Jags and Colts look now in an AFC race that’s up for grabs.

27 Washington Redskins (3-7 LW: 23)- So much for running the tables like last year.

28 Houston Texans (2-8 LW: 28)- Still playing hard… that’s all you could ask for at this point.

29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8 LW: 31) Two in a row… and they had some winnable games throughout the season.

30. Atlanta Falcons (2-8 LW: 29)- Unlike the Texans, this is a football that has quit on everybody. Embarrassing!

31 Minnesota Vikings (2-8 LW: 30)- Playing for a quarterback in next year’s draft.

32 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9 LW 32)- It was fun while it lasted.

NFL Predictions Week 11 Preview and Picks

free-nfl-picks3

Free NFL Picks and predictions for Week 11

NFL Week 11 is going to be another great week of NFL games with the four big ones in my opinion being Cleveland @ Cincinnati, San Francisco @ New Orleans, Kansas City @ Denver (Sunday night) and New England @ Carolina (Monday night). Here is my quick preview for each game along with the spread and my pick/prediction for each match-up. Remember, you can check the latest lines and place your favorite bet(s) right here through Wonder Punter. Good Luck!

New York Jets (5-4) @ Buffalo Bills (3-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: Even

Over/Under: 40.5

With the Jets coming off their bye week, I have to think they will play the better game and expected a little from the Bills to this point. If Geno Smith is on…

PICK: NYJ

Baltimore Ravens (4-5) @ Chicago Bears (5-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CHI -3.0

Over/Under: 45.0

The Ravens are coming off a big home win last Sunday against a Cincinnati team without much offensive production. The Bears will be without Jay Cutler. Still like the Bears in this one being at home.

PICK: Chicago

Cleveland Browns (4-5) @ Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: CIN -6.0

Over/Under: 42.0

The Bengals have lost back-to-back games in overtime and lost the last meeting with Cleveland but will go with Cincy in this one to get it done.

PICK: Cincinnati

Washington Redskins (3-6) @ Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: PHI -4.5

Over/Under: 53.0

Too much at stake for the Eagles with a chance to get into sole possession of first place with a win and Nick Foles has been great the last two weeks.

PICK: Philadelphia

Detroit Lions (6-3) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: DET -2.5

Over/Under: 47.0

The Steelers have been playing better ball since their ‘rock bottom’ game a few weeks backs, but with a healthy Lions duo of Stafford/Johnson… I like the Lions on the road.

PICK: Detroit
BetOnline
Atlanta Falcons (2-7) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: EVEN

Over/Under: 43.0

The ‘experts’ have it even.. I kind of agree. With a very disappointing Falcons team this year, can the Bucs win two in a row?

PICK: Atlanta

Arizona Cardinals (5-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: ARI -8.5

Over/Under: 41.0

As long as the Cardinals don’t have a ‘let-down’ game, they should win easily.

PICK: Arizona

Oakland Raiders (3-6) @ Houston Texans (2-7) 11/17- 1:00PM EST

Line: HOU -7.0

Over/Under: 41.5

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is back, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is questionable…. seems like a Texans win to me.

PICK: Houston

San Diego Chargers (4-5) @ Miami Dolphins (4-5) 11/17- 4:05PM EST

Line: SD -1.0

Over/Under: 45.5

Always tough for a West Coast team to travel East and play but with the Dolphins in the midst of controversy… can they stay focused?

PICK: San Diego

San Francisco 49ers (6-3) @ New Orleans Saints (7-2) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: NO -3.0

Over/Under: 47.5

I expect a better performance this week from the 49ers, but New Orleans is just a very good team in the Dome. Should be a good. Too much Saints.

PICK: New Orleans

Minnesota Vikings (2-7) @ Seattle Seahawks (9-1) 11/17- 4:25PM EST

Line: SEA -12.0

Over/Under: 45.5

After last week’s solid road performance, I think the Seahawks have shaken off their two-week funk with those close victories.

PICK: Seattle

Kansas City Chiefs (9-0) @ Denver Broncos (8-1) 11/17- 8:30PM EST

Line: DEN -7.5

Over/Under: 49.0

The first of two anticipated meetings is soon upon us.. can the much ‘talked-about’ Kansas City defense do enough to slow down the Broncos?

PICK: Denver

New England Patriots (7-2) @ Carolina Panthers (6-3) 11/18- 8:30PM EST

Line: CAR -2.5

Over/Under: 46.5

Monday night showdown. Tough one for me… Pats 2-2 on the road thus far but are still the Patriots and the Panthers have won five straight. If Carolina has another defensive performance like last week, I like their chances.

PICK: Carolina

There are my predictions and Good luck with your teams and picks!

Reed reunites with Ryan, signs with Jets

Reed An Asset For The Jets

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – When New York Jets coach Rex Ryan learned Tuesday that Ed Reed had been released by the Houston Texans, he rushed upstairs to general manager John Idzik’s workplace to make a pitch for the 9-time Professional Bowl security.

About 30 hours later, after Reed cleared waivers, it was a performed deal.

“It’s solely a rumor that I pulled a hamstring,” Ryan mentioned jokingly Thursday, recalling his hurry-up offensive.

All the pieces happened shortly.

After a midnight meeting with Idzik, Reed returned to the facility early Thursday morning, signed his contract, practiced on aching toes (new cleats) and claimed he is ready to help the Jets for their playoff push. He is anticipated to play in a situational position Sunday towards the Buffalo Payments.

“It feels good,” Reed mentioned after apply. “It feels proper.”

This is a reunion for Reed and Ryan, who spent seven seasons along with the Baltimore Ravens.

Ryan, who once referred to as Reed “the best security that’s ever played,” insisted this wasn’t a sentimental move. He still believes Reed, 35, coming off an unproductive stint with the Texans, can make an impression on a defense.

“I’d say that is a false statement, that he can’t play anymore,” Ryan said.

Reed misplaced his starting job in Houston, where he managed solely sixteen tackles and had zero interceptions or pass breakups in seven games. He was waived after making critical feedback about the teaching employees.

As soon as he turned accessible, the Jets broke down tape of his seven video games, attempting to find out if Reed is washed up or a sufferer of circumstances.

It is the latter, stated defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman, one other former Ravens assistant close with Reed. Thurman said they were satisfied together with his protection expertise, both man-to-man and in numerous zones. They imagine his stats were low as a result of opponents averted throwing in his neighborhood.

“He wasn’t far off from the man we had in Baltimore,” Thurman stated. “Is he the same? Not at 35, but he is not far from it. It wasn’t what he was doing [in Houston]; it was what the offense wasn’t doing.”

The Jets have been getting torched by the long ball (seven pass plays of at the least 45 yards allowed), and so they believe Reed – one of the prolific ball hawks in historical past – will assist the problem.

Now, with a probable Hall of Famer in the deep center, Ryan practically dared opponents to throw deep on them.

“They’ve thrown the ball over our head a few times,” Ryan said. “Let ‘em throw it there now.”

Reed said he was contacted by the Jets and New England Patriots. His respect for coach Invoice Belichick is well-documented, however he opted for the Jets because of his familiarity with the coaches, the system and security Dawan Landry, one other ex-Raven.

The idea of reuniting with Ryan additionally was alluring.

“It’s awesome,” Reed said. “I don’t assume either one of us wished to move this chance up.”

The Jets declined to spell out Reed’s role past Sunday, although he is expected to be a serious contributor. He grew to become a malcontent as his enjoying time dwindled in Houston, the place he played only 12 snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Reed mentioned there are “plenty of reasons” why his marriage failed with the Texans, including: “To place it easy for you, it simply wasn’t an excellent fit.”

Ryan likened Reed’s state of affairs to what Randy Moss experienced with the Oakland Raiders. He was depressing there however revived his career when he was traded to the Patriots.

Ed Reed

Ed Reed is now reunited with Rex Ryan, joining the Jets as they attempt to shore up their move protection for a playoff push.

Reed said he’ll settle for any position, insisting: “I do not plan on rocking no boats.”

His arrival will imply less taking part in time for second-yr security Antonio Allen, who has been beginning alongside Landry. There are occasions when the Jets use a three-safety bundle.

“I’m not coming in like, ‘It’s me,'” Reed stated. “I’m right here to help any manner I can.”

There are questions about Reed’s well being (offseason hip surgery) and motion skills. He is heard the criticism.

“It is like Ed Reed is held to a better normal,” he mentioned. “I created that monster. I’ve been blessed to create that monster. I adore it. I am all for it.”

It was a bold, win-now transfer by the Jets, who imagine Reed can bolster their pass defense for a playoff push that seemed inconceivable just a few weeks in the past. However the panorama has modified, because the Jets are a shocking 5-4, at the moment holding the second wild-card place in the AFC.

In addition they consider his intangibles will assist their young protection. Asked to describe Reed’s affect on their young defensive backs in follow, Thurman smiled and said, “A few of them wished to get his autograph.”

Ravens not interested in reunion with Reed

Ed Reed’s NFL Future

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Baltimore Ravens aren’t concerned about bringing back security Ed Reed, coach John Harbaugh mentioned Wednesday.

Reed, 35, spent eleven seasons with the Ravens before signing with the Houston Texans as a free agent this year. He was released Tuesday by the Texans, days after saying the group was “outplayed and outcoached” in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals – the seventh straight defeat for the Texans after a 2-0 start.

Reed went unclaimed on waivers Wednesday and is now free to signal with any team.

He had simply 16 tackles in seven video games and lately lost his starting job in Houston.

The Ravens start veteran James Ihedigbo and first-spherical pick Matt Elam at safety.

“There aren’t any plans to vary our secondary personnel at the moment,” Harbaugh stated. “We’re happy with what we have now. Our guys are enjoying nicely, so that’s where we’re at.”

The New York Jets have shown curiosity in Reed, a supply informed ESPNNewYork.com. Their level of interest wasn’t instantly identified, but it surely seems to be greater than cursory, the supply mentioned.

In Houston, Texans coach Gary Kubiak addressed Reed’s release and stated the transfer was made for football causes and not due to his criticism of the group.

“It all will get again to football,” Kubiak said. “Obviously there’s loads stated and this and that. I talked to him yesterday. We’re enjoying young guys, actually like the way in which D.J. [Swearinger is] enjoying and Shiloh [Keo is] taking part in his role.

“In respect to his career and what [Reed has] finished and for us to be in the scenario we’re enjoying him eight to 10 plays, that was going to continue with the way we’re doing it proper now, I assumed it was honest to him to offer him a possibility to play somewhere else and do no matter he wanted. That is how we came to the conclusion.”

Reed can be considered one of the greatest players in Ravens historical past. He went to nine Pro Bowls and was named NFL Defensive Participant of the 12 months in 2004.

“Ed is a Raven, and he’ll always be a Raven,” Harbaugh said. “I’m sure he’ll be in the ring of honor someday, and I am positive he’ll be in the Hall of Fame sometime. We have kept in touch with Ed, on and off right here frequently. He is a good pal of everyone here.”

ESPN.com Texans reporter Tania Ganguli and ESPN.com Jets reporter Rich Cimini contributed to this report.

Wonder Punter NFL Week 11 Power Rankings

NFL-Power-Rankings

NFL Power rankings for week 11 2013

With a 10 full weeks of NFL games in the books, let’s take a look at our new NFL Power Rankings for Week 11 which will begin on Thursday. The Indianapolis Colts who were a constant top 5 teams in our rankings took a hit with their bad loss at the hands of the Rams, as did some other teams after Sunday and Monday night’s game. The Carolina Panthers made the biggest jump with their impressive defensive performances win at San Francisco. And Tampa Bay and Jacksonville are in the win column… finally.

1 Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)- Even with the bye week, I will keep them in No. 1 spot, however they will be challenged in the next two of three weeks with the Denver Broncos on the bill.

2 Denver Broncos (8-1)- Denver’s next three games…. KC, at New England, at KC. Things are about to get interesting in the AFC.

3 Seattle Seahawks (9-1)- Seattle put together a full road game against the Falcons on Sunday and dominated them. Much more impressive win.

4 New Orleans Saints (7-2)- World beaters at home… except in the NFL you only get to play half at home during the regular season.

5 New England Patriots (7-2)- Coming off their bye week, they will have a great road test at Carolina on Monday night.

6 Carolina Panthers (6-3)- One quality victory down with a road win at San Fran., can they duplicate another at home against the Patriots on Monday night?

7 Indianapolis Colts (6-3)- I don’t think anyone is sure what happened to them on Sunday’s ugly home loss to the Rams…. They couldn’t have been looking ahead to the Titans, could they have?

8 San Francisco (6-3)- A bounce here, a bounce there, who knows… but teams 6 and 7 beat them at Candlestick.

9 Detroit Lions (6-3)- Big road win at Soldier Field to take over sole possession over first place in the NFC North.

10 Cincinnati Bengals (6-4)- Back-to-back road losses at Miami then Baltimore.. lose to Cleveland on Sunday and they may have a problem.

11 New York Jets (5-4)- Coming off their bye week with winnable game at Buffalo on Sunday.

12 Chicago Bears (5-4)- Can Josh McCown hold it together ‘til Cutler makes it back… whenever that is.

13 Philadelphia Eagles (5-5)- Nick Foles has had two great back-to-back games. My favorites now to win a weak NFC East.

14 Green Bay Packers (5-4)- Despite their quarterback injuries, they have a winnable game at the Giants on Sunday.

15 Dallas Cowboys (5-5)- In what was probably their ‘rock bottom’ game on Sunday, they are still in first place in the NFC.. but barely.

16 Arizona Cardinals (5-4)- Too bad they have play in the same division as the Seahawks and 49ers.

17 San Diego Chargers (4-5)- Too bad they have to play in same division as the Chiefs and Broncos.

18 Cleveland Browns (4-5)- Win at Cincinnati on Sunday and they may have a chance to win what is now a weak AFC North.

19 Baltimore Ravens (4-5)- It’s a good thing the defense showed up on Sunday against the Bengals because the offense was nowhere to be found.

20 St. Louis Rams (4-6)- The Tavon Austin show and a blowout win at Indy.

21 Miami Dolphins (4-5)- In week one following the bullying-blowup, they lose to the winless Bucs.

22 Tennessee Titans (4-5)- First they lose Jake Locker for the year, then they lose to the worst team in the league.

23 Washington Redskins (3-6)- In a weak NFC East, they show no signs of wanting it.

24 Oakland Raiders (3-6)- Have now lost 12 straight on East Coast trips and now word Terrelle Pryor may be out for awhile.

25 Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6)- What’s all this talk about trading away ‘Big Ben?’ Will that make them better… and will anybody take a banged-up quarterback?

26 New York Giants (3-6)- Must I keep talking about the NFC East anymore… they’re still in it but have some tough games coming up.

27 Buffalo Bills (3-7)- It’s all about building a foundation for 2014.

28 Houston Texans (2-7)- Still better then their record indicates.

29. Atlanta Falcons (2-7)- I used to think they were better then their record indicated.

30 Minnesota Vikings (2-7)- With Christian Ponder’s status up in the air for Sunday’s game, will we see another quarterback change for the Vikings?

31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8)- Guess they didn’t want to be ranked last in the league.

32 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8)- Well for about 32 hours they were ranked 31st….

Power Rankings for the NFL week 10 – WonderPunter

With 9 weeks of the NFL season in the books, let’s take a look at Week 10’s Power Rankings where a few teams made some jumps and others went backwards after this past weekend’s games.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)- As much as I still think they are not deserving of the top ranking.. they are still the only undefeated team. Bye week then a showdown with the Denver Broncos.

2. Denver Broncos (7-1)- With the bye week out of the way, can they continue to play at a high-level without head coach John Fox on the mend for possibly two months for a heart attack? Chargers and Chiefs coming up.

3. Indianapolis Colts (6-2)- They have beaten some quality teams to this point, but remember no more Reggie Wayne to help the offense.

4. Seattle Seahawks (8-1)- Expected better from a team that has struggled against the Rams and Bucs for victories.

5. San Francisco 49ers (6-2)- Big home game against the surging Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

6. New Orleans Saints (6-2)- Will look to bounce back against the Cowboys after Sundays loss to the Jets.

7. New England Patriots (7-2)- They head into the bye week after an impressive blowout win over the Steelers 55-31.

8. Cincinnati Bengals (6-3)- Can they avoid back-to-back road losses with the Ravens coming up?

9. Chicago Bears (5-3)- Big road win on Monday night in Lambeau gave them a big move up the rankings. Next up Detroit and possibly Jay Cutler returning to action.

10. Detroit Lions (5-3)- Coming off their bye week with a road game at Soldier Field.

11. Carolina Panthers (5-3)- All their wins have been against bad teams, now they visit the Niners on Sunday to prove their worth.

12. Green Bay Packers (5-3)- Dropped from last week and now with Aaron Rodgers out of action, they may continue to fall.

13. Dallas Cowboys (5-4)- Still middle of the road for me but they are in first place in a weak NFC East. Will be tested against the Saints on Sunday night.

14. New York Jets (5-4)- Good home win against a good Saints team leading into the bye week.

15. San Diego Chargers (4-4)- Another fourth quarter loss last week, now next up is the Denver Broncos.

16. Tennessee Titans (4-4)- I still like this football team and have the hapless Jags coming into town.

17. Miami Dolphins (4-4)- Can they overcome all the bad press this week and beat a winless Bucs team on Monday night?

18. Cleveland Browns (4-5)- Is Jason Campbell the answer to Hoyle?

19. Arizona Cardinals (4-4)- Next up is the Texans as they look to go above .500, unfortunately they have the 49ers and Seahawks to contend with in their division.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (4-5)- Back-up quarterback Nick Foles completely embarrassed the Raiders with seven touchdown passes, yet Vick may still get his job back when healthy.

21. Baltimore Ravens (4-4)- Offense must improve if they want to contend.

22. Washington Redskins (3-5)- With Minnesota coming up Thursday night, now is the chance to string some wins together in the winnable NFC East.

23. Buffalo Bills (3-6)- Tough road loss to the unbeaten Chiefs, but still like the direction they are going.

24. Oakland Raiders (3-5)- Horrible defensive performance against the Eagles. Next up is the lowly Giants, but it’s always tough for west coast teams to head east and win.

25. Houston Texans (2-6)- Defense is still there and had the Colts beat, but losing their coach proved too tough to overcome.

26. Atlanta Falcons (2-6)- Season is over and people are wondering why future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez wasn’t traded to a team with a chance to win it all?

27. St. Louis Rams (3-6)- Playing with a back up QB and heading into Indianapolis on Sunday.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-6)- Was Sundays blowout loss to the Patriots 55-31 their rock bottom? The worst we’ve seen in years!

29. New York Giants (2-6)- They have a very beatable Oakland team coming into town on Sunday.

30. Minnesota Vikings (1-7)- I guess the Josh Freeman quarterback of our future experiment is over after one game.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-8)- Gave Seattle all they could handle and showed some pride before falling in OT.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-8)- What hasn’t been said already? Next up at Tennessee.

Ray Rice: I didn’t intentionally spit at Taylor

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Baltimore Ravens operating again Ray Rice mentioned he didn’t deliberately spit on Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Phil Taylor seven weeks in the past.

After the Ravens’ 14-6 win on Sept. 15, Taylor insinuated that Rice spit in his face, which led to the lineman slapping the facet of Rice’s helmet. The Ravens play at the Browns on Sunday for the primary time since the incident.

“It was two guys jawing at each other,” Rice said Wednesday. “I had my mouthpiece in, so when I went to say something again to him it seemed as if I projected towards him. But I had my mouthpiece in. I was saying something, he was saying one thing. Clearly, that is what occurred. We’ll depart it at that.”

Rice, who wasn’t fined by the league because the video was inconclusive, needs to place the altercation in the past.

“Phil Taylor is a superb younger participant,” Rice stated. “He’s coming along very properly and he is making performs in their operating sport. He’s a dominant force. I have tremendous respect for him. So long as I’m within the AFC North, it appears to be like like we’ll be going at one another two times a year.”

Rice did specific regret for the on-discipline confrontation with Taylor.

“I obtained to maintain my head level in those conditions,” Rice mentioned. “I don’t ever want to really feel myself in a situation the place it seems like me and this man has issues. I don’t have a problem with him. However you know what, guys speak. It is part of their sport. I really don’t want to be a part of mine. I will do my finest to channel my feelings.”

Taylor wasn’t available for comment Wednesday in the Browns’ locker room at the workforce’s amenities in Berea, Ohio.

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Free Pick- Jets vs. Bengals

jets

NFL Prediction Sunday Game Preview & Free Pick- Jets vs. Bengals

New York Jets (4-3) @ Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) 10/21- 4:05PM EST

Line: CIN -6.0

Over/Under: 41.5

With the halfway point of the NFL season upon us, the Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) find themselves with a two-game lead on both the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North and look to build on it as they seek their fourth straight win on Sunday against a Jets team coming off their biggest win of the season 30-27 over the AFC East leading New England Patriots.

For the Bengals, much of their success can be attributed to quarterback Andy Dalton and the kicking heroics of Mike Nugent who has two game-winning field goals in back-to-back weeks against Buffalo and Detroit.

These last couple have come down to the end and we’re finding ways to win the game,” Dalton said. “For us, it’s big. We’re 5-2 now and it sets us up where we want to go.”

Dalton, himself has played a big part of winning the last two games by completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 709 yards with six touchdowns, one INT and a 119.7 passer rating.

The task this week will be tougher for Dalton has he will be facing a Jets defense ranked fourth overall in the NFL, third with 24 sacks second against the run with 77.7 yards per game.

For the Jets (4-3), they know they can only go so far as rookie Geno Smith can take them, but he continues to make strides and impress on a weekly basis.

Just keep making strides,” coach Rex Ryan wants from Smith. “I think you see it on the practice field. I think he’s comfortable with our system.”

I think now it’s become his system.”

Smith realizes consistency is what he needs to improve on if he wants to experience success in the league.

I definitely want to continue to play consistently, and that’s something I have been working extremely hard at,” Smith said. “I’ve been beating myself over it because I know with that consistency at the quarterback (position), it usually leads to success with the team.

That’s something I’m trying to do, something I pride myself in, being a consistent decision-maker.”

With the Bengals lack of a solid running game, expect a heavy-dose of an air attack by Dalton, who has the weapons to make big plays such as Marvin Jones and All-Pro receiver A.J. Green.

Green has 43 receptions with 619 yards to be ranked amongst the league leaders.

New York has dominated the Bengals, winning nine of the past 10 meetings, but Cincinnati hopes it comes down to one-last kick to put Nugent in a position to win it.

I do it in the off-season when I’m just out by myself,” Nugent said. “If you can try to put as much pressure on yourself as you can when you’re practicing, put yourself in the situation, maybe that adds up and makes it easier when it actually happens.”

I like the Bengals in this match-up, but if Geno Smith can play with consistency.. he may be able to pull off another late game magic of his own.

My Prediction & Pick for this game will be,…..

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals

#2 Indianapolis Colts (5-2)- They did beat the Broncos, but which team will show up every week… the team that beat the Broncos or the team that lost to the Chargers.

#3 Denver Broncos (6-1)- Two improvements needed.. take care of the ball and better pass defense.

#4 Seattle Seahawks (6-1)- Making a believer out of me.

# 5 New Orleans Saints (6-1)- Still wondering how they lost to the Patriots in the last second..

#6 San Francisco 49ers (5-2)- 49ers are establishing their running game once again to open up the offense.

#7 Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)- Andy Dalton is looking for his third straight 300-yard passing game against the Jets this week.

#8 Green Bay Packers (4-2)- Eddie Lacy has given the Packers a solid running game leading all running backs the last three weeks.

#16 Baltimore Ravens (3-4)- A .500 team is all they may be this year.

#17 Miami Dolphins (3-3)- Back to reality after winning their first three games… now have dropped three-straight.

#18 Carolina Panthers (3-3)- Has Cam Newton shaken off his sophomore jinx?

#22 Cleveland Browns (3-4)- Back to Brandon Weeden calling the signals. Not good!
