These are four good younger men, but they broke a staff rule and because of this, they’ll each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will be taught and develop from this and have a fantastic 2014 season on and off the field.”

Crawford started 12 games at defensive finish for the Tigers last season, recording to 10.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Former Congresswoman To Fight Against Potential Federal Ban Of Online Poker

There likely won’t be any passage of legislation that would legalize nationwide — or ban nationwide — forms of Internet gambling. For one, a few states are already realizing those revenues and Congress would surely not put an end to those revenue streams. Since the states are already venturing out on their own, there is less of an impetus to push through a bill to make it legal nationwide. Not to mention, the issue is pretty controversial and there have always been more pressing matters for Congress to look at.

Despite all of this, one group led by Sheldon Adelson is pushing a federal ban on the web games. Those efforts reportedly have prompoted a former Congresswoman to join a group that will oppose the opposition to online gaming. Mary Bono, who represented Californians, is teaming up with Mike Oxley, a former Congressman from Ohio, to lead the “Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection”, which will try to protect online poker from said ban.

These developments are according to The Desert Sun.

The battle is expected to be costly for both sides, with Adelson saying he would spend whatever it takes to thwart, or at least delay, online gambling in the U.S.

Bono’s group, known as C4COP, reportedly has said that “an online gaming ban simply would not work,” since it would limit states’ rights and would “stifle innovation and growth.”

“Congress can neither legislate the Internet away, nor consumer demand for online products. We need to do all we can to make sure that the Internet is a safe place for businesses, consumers, families and children,” Bono said in a statement.

“I am proud to be a part of the Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection to make sure that people know the risks behind implementing such a ban.”

As a lawmaker, Bono was also involved with past online poker discussions on Capitol Hill.

C4COP is backed by MGM Resorts International, among others, according to Politico.

He was originally seeking payment of lost wages, punitive damages and attorney fees.

The Meadows is owned by Cannery Casino Resorts and The Washington Trotting Association.

Alongside the way, we received loads of leisure within the type of lawyer conflicts. Now, we can get again to baseball. Nicely, most of us. Rodriguez will probably be 38 (and switch 39 in July of 2015) when he returns to baseball.

Lehmann advises gay players against coming out

After revealing to the world he is gay, Thomas Hitzlsperger hopes players will one day feel comfortable disclosing their sexuality without the shelter of retirement.

Lehmann, who played alongside Hitzlsperger for Stuttgart and Germany, said that it would be inadvisable for an active player to follow suit.

“Anyone doing that would be nuts, ” the former Arsenal keeper said during a talk show. “You can’t foresee what would happen. You can’t advise anyone to do so – they would no longer have fun playing football. ”

Thomas Hitzlsperger, Jens Lehmann

Asked how he would have found it had he known Hitzlsperger – nicknamed “Der Hammer” – was gay during their time as teammates, Lehmann said: “Strange, I think. You shower together every day, and there are times when it would be difficult.

“But Thomas Hitzlsperger is a player who never caused anyone to think that there is something – firstly because he is very intelligent and, secondly, because of his style of play. ”

Former England international Graeme Le Saux wrote in his autobiography that, despite being heterosexual, taunts from fans, opposition players and even his own teammates over his sexuality almost ruined his career. LA Galaxy midfielder Robbie Rogers, who came out in February 2013, told the BBC last year that, after his experience of playing for Leeds, he thinks it would be difficult for a gay player in the UK.

Lehmann feels that it is inevitable that a gay player would be victimised.

“I know for sure that there would have been a few players, be it opponents or others in the dressing room, who would have permanently made jokes, ” Lehmann said. “It’s not like there are 25 intellectuals who discuss whether someone’s gay or not.

“Football is a man’s sport, and you don’t have to think a lot, and you also can’t control the fans in the stadiums. As a [gay player], should you have to put up with all that? ”

The 44-year-old’s suggestion that players should keep their homosexuality a secret caused some controversy in Germany, with the Stuttgarter Nachrichten headlining its article: “Lehmann talks himself into trouble. ” The German football monthly 11 Freunde described Lehmann’s statements as “non-reflective” of the public mood.

During the same Sky show, the president of the German Football Association (DFB), Wolfgang Niersbach, spoke of his hope for a potential co-operation with Hitzlsperger in the fight against homophobia in football.

“He has said that he will be at the Germany vs. Chile game in March, ” Niersbach said. “We will talk to him and see if and how we can involve him in it. ”

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will use a brace on his left leg in Sunday’s game against the Brand new England Patriots.

On Monday night, Flacco has been hit by the helmet of Of detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy, which had dived at the reigning Extremely Bowl MVP midway through the 4th quarter of Baltimore’s 18-16 earn. An MRI revealed a moderate MCL sprain, a league supply told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Flacco didn’t have a noticeable limp whenever walking to the practice field and also to the locker room. He used the brace in Wednesday’s exercise and will wear it against the Patriots, if the trainers recommend it or not.

The only time Flacco has worn a brace had been his junior year at Delaware, where he sprained the MCL within the same knee.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 12: Mark Ingram is Worth Playing Against the Woeful Falcons

USATSI_7550695_153192880_lowres

Final week, I highlighted Bobby Rainey, and of course, if Rainey continues to be available (he’s owned in about two-thirds of leagues now), you wish to add him.

Assuming, however, that your choices are extra restricted, you are going to have to play matchups. Earlier than the season, I highlighted one league the place I went with an intentional “draft Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall in PPR, wait on operating backs” technique. My running back picks couldn’t have labored out worse–none of them are on my roster right now in that league. However, I am surging and have won 5 straight games, because not solely do I write this column, I have used my waiver recommendation personally and remained active.

As a result of I was not overly invested at operating again, I have been able to bounce on alternatives all 12 months long and never mistakenly imagine I was set, solely to lose an Arian Foster or Doug Martin. My present crop of backs includes Le’Veon Bell, Rashad Jennings, and Bobby Rainey. Hardly notable names, however coupled with high vast receivers, makes for a fairly good scoring lineup.

If you are going that route, and also you want a spot start this week, I would look to Mark Ingram (forty five% ownership) because he draws the identical matchup that Bobby Rainey simply exploited to great acquire. I’m not below the impression that Ingram is something more than average, but if he gets even 40% of the operating back touches, with the matchup, he needs to be a begin. Add in that Darren Sproles can be on the injury report and the Saints should win, and Ingram may see lots of alternatives.

QUARTERBACKS

Not a whole lot of good starting choices for the squeamish amongst you needing to wade deep within the waiver wire pool on the QB position. Alex Smith (63%) has a improbable matchup vs. San Diego, however two of his linemen could also be out, and Smith isn’t precisely the type to perform well without less than stellar blocking up front.

If you’re actually brave, go Scott Tolzien vs. Minnesota, who’ve absolutely dreadful defending the go.

OPERATING BACKS

Obviously, Bobby Rainey (66%) if he’s available. Donald Brown (63%) is one other that is perhaps lurking in a shallow league and has been getting more seems than Richardson just lately–and doing more with them.

Montee Ball (forty five%) was mentioned last week and acquired two touchdowns. Don’t count on that every week, but he has surpassed Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. One damage away from being actually helpful.

Chris Ogbonnaya (35%) would be my desperation spot begin in opposition to the Steelers, as he has gotten more seems to be these days, and seems to be the best choice on the Cleveland roster.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Keep watch over Andre Caldwell simply in case Wes Welker is dominated out with the concussion. If he’s out, Caldwell ought to see enough reps to warrant flex or 3rd WR consideration in deep leagues.

Michael Floyd (64%) had a huge recreation final week, although he was on the damage report. It’s the type of game we have now been ready for, though it did come in opposition to the Jaguars. Floyd is value including on expertise for the stretch run.

Don’t overlook about Lance Moore (50%) vs. Atlanta, particularly if Sproles is ruled out. Moore would actually be the more seemingly beneficiary in the passing game if Sproles will not be round, quite than one of many other backs.

Miles Austin (31%) is predicted to return this week from hamstring injury, and is the forgotten man in Dallas. The matchup towards the Giants is engaging, though you would have to be fairly thin to threat putting him in.

TIGHT ENDS

Two tight ends have had massive games in current weeks, and once more have good matchups. Garrett Graham vs JAC and Delanie Walker vs. OAK. These are your decisions this week in case you have an harm issue (Reed).

DEFENSES/SPECIAL GROUPS

I’d go Pittsburgh in opposition to Jason Campbell and his examine down ways, followed by Saints vs. Atlanta or Green Bay at residence towards Minnesota this week.

PRIME CHOICES

  1. Bobby Rainey, RB
  2. Michael Floyd, WR
  3. Donald Brown, RB
  4. Mark Ingram, RB
  5. Garrett Graham, TE
  6. Lance Moore, WR
  7. Montee Ball, RB
  8. Delanie Walker, TE
  9. Miles Austin, WR
  10. Andre Caldwell, WR

Bears Wrap: McCown Guides Offense

Bears Wrap: McCown Guides Offense

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler indicated Tuesday that his return for Sunday’s sport against the Detroit Lions isn’t a certainty as he continues to go through the rehabilitation course of from a torn groin muscle.

Injured on Oct. 20 against the Washington Redskins, Cutler stated he had hoped to be back for Monday night’s game towards the Green Bay Packers. Although he’s utilized unconventional methods to speed up the restoration, corresponding to platelet wealthy plasma treatments, an ARP machine and a strict diet, the quarterback mentioned he does not have a say on how soon he returns.

Team docs advised Cutler, coach Marc Trestman and common manager Phil Emery that the timetable for restoration is a minimal of 4 weeks.

“I was aiming for the Green Bay recreation, and that didn’t occur. So I don’t suppose we can say I will be on the market for the Detroit game,” Cutler stated Tuesday on ESPN a thousand’s “The Jay Cutler Show.”

“We’re making an attempt everything we will to get on the market. It feels good, but I have never practiced. I have not been in a live scenario and executed all the cuts and the drops and noticed how it felt but. So can’t inform you. I want I may. I wish I may say, ‘Yeah, we’ll be on the market.’

“However I think the way in which that [backup] Josh [McCown] is playing, we be ok with that and we do not want to get into the state of affairs where I am on the market and I get back every week too soon and I’m set again one other 4 to 6 weeks. So I’m just gonna be good with it.”

Regardless of the four-week minimum prognosis for Cutler’s recovery, the quarterback final week said his aim was to return sooner.

Filling in for Cutler on his radio weekly radio show last week, receiver Brandon Marshall mentioned that in a “worst-case state of affairs,” the quarterback would return for Sunday’s sport.

When the Bears (5-three) host the Lions (5-3) on Sunday, 21 days may have handed since Cutler sustained the harm.

Cutler stated the therapeutic process has moved alongside shortly because “I’ve simply done plenty of rehab,” and that the original 4-week minimum prognosis concerned the recovery timeframe for somebody that “sort of let it heal itself and [took] it straightforward,” versus the aggressive strategy he is taken.

“We have carried out some stuff that isn’t simply straight ice and [muscle] stim[ulation]. There’s an ARP machine there. We did PRP. We’ve achieved loads of various things,” Cutler said. “The trainers, the Bears have executed an ideal job, Bobby [Slater, the assistant head athletic coach and director of rehabilitation] and those guys, of serving to me get again.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been out since tearing a groin muscle at Washington in Week 7.

“We have kind of attacked this factor head on, thrown a variety of completely different methods at it, and simply tried to keep the blood flowing there.”

An ARP machine (Accelerated Restoration Efficiency) is a unit that helps heal tender-tissue accidents quickly by sending a direct present to an injured space, along with a background current that the machine’s creators consider allows for deeper penetration. Bears operating back Matt Forte has additionally utilized an ARP machine and PRP treatments prior to now to hurry up the healing process.

Cutler has also restricted his eating regimen in his bid to return to the sphere.

“Simply keeping your sugar levels, try to maintain them as stage as attainable,” Cutler said. “It is onerous in your physique trying to heal an damage and likewise break down quite a few quantities of carbs that we eat and all kinds of different stuff.”

But Cutler could not put a percentage on the place he is at in rehabilitation. Requested if he was seventy five p.c healthy, Cutler mentioned, “I don’t know.”

“We haven’t finished football-particular stuff to essentially inform me where I’m at. I have not pushed that button and said, ‘Hey, let’s go do a bunch of drops. Let’s roll out. Let’s throw and see the place we’re at,'” Cutler said. “I can do some lunges and stuff for you. But that’s not gonna inform me [I] can get out of the way of a defensive lineman.

“We’ve a walkthrough tomorrow. We’re working towards Thursday. Hopefully we’ll see if we are able to do some stuff out there. If not, we’re in additional than capable palms [with McCown]. I think Chicago would agree.”

But even if Cutler wished to play Sunday, the choice won’t be in his arms.

“I’m not gonna just stroll within the building and be like, ‘Hey, I’m able to go,'” Cutler mentioned. “Doctors have got to OKAY it. That’s the toughest part,” Cutler stated. “But that is why we have now Josh. That is why Josh takes his job so significantly: for conditions like that. Chiefs improve to 9-0 with win against Bills

Defense Helps Chiefs Keep Unbeaten

The Chiefs’ defense scored two touchdowns to help Kansas Metropolis beat Buffalo 23-13 and transfer to 9-zero.

Defense Helps Chiefs Keep Unbeaten

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith was exhausted after he returned an interception 100 yards for a landing.

“I used to be undoubtedly completely satisfied I made it,” Smith said. “I wished to have a good time, however I used to be too tired.”

That is advantageous, as a result of the Chiefs are suddenly respiration simpler after their protection saved Kansas Metropolis’s perfect start intact.

Smith’s interception and linebacker Tamba Hali’s 11-yard fumble return for a touchdown aided the Chiefs in overcoming a pedestrian offense and their very own leaky defense in securing a 23-13 win over the Buffalo Payments on Sunday.

Kansas City (9-zero) remained the NFL’s solely undefeated team and matched the most effective begin in franchise historical past set in 2003. The Chiefs now enter their bye week earlier than a key AFC West showdown against the Denver Broncos (7-1) on Nov. 17.

If the one thing excellent concerning the Chiefs is their file to this point, coach Andy Reid refuses to make any apologies.

“We’re not going to make excuses for it,” mentioned Reid, who in his first year has the Chiefs continuing their worst-to-first run after a 2-14 end last season. “We’re pretty comfortable that we got the touchdowns. We’ll take them any approach we are able to get them.”

The Chiefs’ protection led the best way, outscoring the Alex Smith-led offense, which was limited to 3 subject objectives. And the defense needed to compensate for its own issues in having problem containing a Buffalo offense headed by Jeff Tuel, an undrafted rookie making his first career begin.

Regardless of permitting a season-worst 470 yards of offense and 25 first downs, the Chiefs have been opportunistic in holding their ninth consecutive opponent to 17 points or less to match an NFL file set by the 1977 Atlanta Falcons.

Smith’s interception turned the momentum, tying the rating at 10 after Tuel had marched the Bills 79 yards on the opening drive of the third quarter.

Hali then put the Chiefs ahead for good by scooping up T.J. Graham’s fumble – compelled by cornerback Marcus Cooper – and operating it in to put Kansas Metropolis ahead 20-13 with 12:forty seven left.

“We do not actually care what individuals assume,” Hali said of the Chiefs’ victories lacking type points. “Typically the stats do not really let you know the end result.”

Inform that to the Payments (3-6), who were left stunned and pissed off in trying to figure out how they let this one slip away.

“Horrible,” offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said. “It was shocking even to our guys. We did every little thing we wanted. We just could not end it.”

The difference was turnovers, as the Chiefs turned Buffalo’s three giveaways – two interceptions thrown by Tuel and Graham’s fumble – into 17 points.

The loss marred what started as a solid outing by Tuel, who turned the third quarterback to start out for Buffalo this season. He played rather than interim starter Thad Lewis, who was sidelined by bruised ribs, and with rookie starter EJ Manuel lacking his fourth sport with a sprained proper knee.

Tuel’s 139 yards passing in the first half have been the most by a Bills quarterback within the first two quarters this season. And Tuel was in a position to improve his numbers after marching Buffalo to the Kansas City 1 on the opening drive of the second half before his day went awry.

Going through third-and-purpose, Tuel took a shotgun snap, and regarded immediately to his proper, where Graham was operating a slant pattern. Tuel, nevertheless, did not account for Smith, who easily picked off the pass at the goal line and then took off up the left sideline.

“It is very irritating,” Tuel stated. “That’s one hundred pc my fault.”

Tuel finished 18 of 39 for 229 yards passing, and a 59-yard touchdown to Marquise Goodwin.

For Kansas City, Smith accomplished 19 of 29 passes for just 124 yards. Running again Jamaal Charles was held under a hundred yards from scrimmage for the primary time this season.

Kansas Metropolis additionally snapped a six-recreation dropping streak at Orchard Park that included two playoff losses, successful there for the first time since Sept. 28, 1986.
