Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez left Wednesday night time's sport after being hit by a pitch in the left hand. He was in obvious ache afterwards, and whereas he tried to speak supervisor Don Mattingly and the coaching staff into allowing him to remain in, he was faraway from the game instantly.

Listed below are two angles of the pitch:

Ramirez, 30, missed the start of last season with a thumb harm suffered while diving for a ball during the World Baseball Classic. He additionally missed time with a hamstring drawback. Despite the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, it is fairly clear Ryan Vogelsong did not hit Hanley deliberately.

In 14 games coming into Wednesday, Ramirez was hitting291/.381/.527 (147 OPS+) with seven doubles and two home runs. He hit a robust345/.402/.638 (189 OPS+) with 20 home runs in 86 video games after returning from the thumb and hamstring issues last season.

The Dodgers have not but released an replace on Ramirez. Clearly dropping him for any length of time could be devastating.

Alberto Artiaga Leads Latin Series of Poker Millions After Day 1C

Alberto AtriagaMany players tried, but only 138 remain and one of them will soon be the recipient of a six-figure pay day from the Latin Series of Poker Millions.

Cheers once again erupted across the Majestic Poker room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Panama City, Panama when the elimination of Sebastian Ruiz ended play for the night and guaranteed the remaining players a seat on Day 2.

A total of 328 players put up the $850 buy-in on Day 1C for one last chance at the money, but play concluded for the night when only 32 remained. Those players will join the 27 players from Day 1A, 22 players from Day 1B and 48 players from previous Day 1s held throughout Latin American in previous weeks on Day 2.

Before Day 1C concluded PokerStars team pro Jose “Nacho” Barbero held the chiplead at 336,000, but it was Alberto Artiaga who overtook the lead and bagged up a stack of 371,000.

The blinds will be rolled back to 500-1000 when play begins in order to make sure all players come back to appropriate blind level from where they left off. The initial tournaments held at other venues had smaller fields, and as such reached the 10 percent mark during earlier levels. With that blinds that low, Artiaga will begin with about 370 big blinds while Barbero will begin with nearly 340.

“Obviously I’ve got a lot of chips,” Barbero said. “But I’ll start Day 2 with like 340 big blinds. I mean that has never happened in my life.”

“Day 1A is a little more turbo than I’d like it to be, I’d love to do a slower structure and everything, but it just doesn’t work with all the smaller tournaments and this tournament has to be exactly the same structure as all the other ones,” said Phil Nagy, CEO of Winning Poker Network which includes Ya Poker, America’s Card Room, Black Chip Poker and BetCRIS, all sponsors of the LSOP .

“So we tried to make up for it on Day 2 by moving the blinds back to 500-1000 and a lot of these people are going to be playing with 200 and 300 big blinds. When we did the test runs in Costa Rica, seriously nobody busted out for about four or five hours. It’s a lot of play. But it’s good because you are already in the money and you want it to be a good structure toward the end.”

All players who made Day 2 were automatically in the money, meaning there will be no money bubble to sweat through as the tournament continues on. Each min-cash is worth $2,200.

Alex ManzanoOther names that made Day 2 include Nagy, Bolivar Palacios, Felipe Montenegro and Americans Carter Gill and Roman Valerstein.

A few notable bustouts included the final member of team BetCRIS, Alex Manzano, who will not join fellow pros Engelberth Varela, Gerardo Godinez, Montenegro and Palacios on Day 2. After being eliminated on Day 1A, Manzano got off to a much better start on Day 1C and chipped up early on, but he was unable to hang on until the end of the night. Antoine Lafosse, the number one ranked player out of Peru who recently final-tabled the World Poker Tour Five Diamond in Las Vegas, was eliminated just two away from the bubble. Earlier in the day John Hewitt, who bubbled the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event final table, make his exit.

Day 2 will begin Tuesday, March 11 at 2 pm EST

Upset Russian coach after defeat: ‘Eat me alive’

text
Russia’s coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is not sure about his future. (USATSI)

To some, a Russian gold in Olympic hockey would’ve been ample to deem the Video games a hit for the host nation, regardless of the outcome of other sports. If the Olympics had been Vladimir Putin’s baby (they were), then Russia’s hockey workforce, a group he publicly lauded and partially helped finance, was the apple of his eye. He even had a hand in picking the person tasked with explaining the confounding efficiency to the media.

Searing questions were heaped on Russia’s coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov following Wednesday’s beautiful three-1 loss to Finland, and given the aforementioned stress, his answers, while candid, weren’t stunning.

The transcript of one reporter-coach change, per the Wall Avenue Journal:

Q: What future, if any, do you see for your personal work and on your coaching employees? As a result of you recognize, your predecessor was eaten alive after the Olympics.

A: Effectively then, eat me alive proper now –

Q: No, I mean –

A: Eat me, and I won’t be here anymore.

Q: But we have the world championship developing..

A: Properly then, there shall be a unique coach because I will not exist anymore, since you’ll have eaten me.

Q: But you’re staying, aren’t you?

A: Sure, I’ll remain dwelling.

Other questions (How much are you at fault? Was this a disaster?) had been lobbed at the coach, but he was clearly reticent to indulge the feisty media. Gold or bust usually isn’t a stable strategy, however the Russians shall be not noted of the medals ceremony for a third straight Olympics.

“There were nice hopes positioned on us, and we didn’t reside up to them,” Pavel Datsyuk, the Russians’ finest participant throughout the tournament, stated to Canada.com.

Questions relating to the effectiveness of using Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin on the same line together with a curious resolution to start out (and eventually pull) Semyon Varlamov in purpose, were authentic probes, but these solutions would greatest be saved for an additional day.

When Bilyaletdinov was asked whether or not he can be sticking around Sochi, he curtly responded, “No, I might slightly depart.”

IIHF President Rene Fasel (center) will evaluation guidelines after USA/Russia controversy. (USATSI)

Russia definitely felt like it had the rug pulled out from underneath them after Fedor Tyutin’s obvious aim was waved off within the late phases of the preliminary-round recreation in opposition to the U.S. The rule was properly enforced on the ice, as the web was off its line by mere inches, nevertheless it left followers and players confused.

The disallowed aim has been the source of a lot consternation within the host country and referee Brad Meier has drawn most of Russia’s ire after that disallowed goal. Even Vladimir Putin had thoughts on the call, saying “Even referees generally makes errors.”

Within the NHL, the web will be barely off and the purpose will count, which led to questions in regards to the rule the International Ice Hockey Federation employs in regards to the net being displaced.

In response to IIHF president Rene Fasel, this rule is about to change.

Here’s the translation of Championat.ru’s interview with Fasel through Puck Daddy:

What are you able to say in regards to the disallowed goal because of the dislodged net?

We’ll change that rule. To disallow a aim because of two centimeters? That’s nonsense. However that is the present rule, nothing may be completed. That’s why I believe that this rule must be modified and officiate the way in which it is carried out in the NHL. That’s what we’ll do.”

The rule itself might be too rigid and it has by no means been clearer than it was in that key situation of the USA-Russia sport. It’s an unlucky thing to have had happened on the biggest stage, however thankfully it wasn’t in an elimination sport (Scary thought, though: that rule may rear its ugly head but again in this match).

So the IIHF will bend to the intense outrage, and it ought to, because it’s a dangerous rule, however it’s too late to vary the previous.

T.J. Oshie is probably pretty glad about that.

Hernandez victim arrested after shooting

Alexander Bradley

HARTFORD, Conn. – A man who alleges he was shot in the face by former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez in Florida was shot again, this time outside a Connecticut nightclub, where he then opened fire, police said Monday. He was arrested on charges including criminal gun possession.

Alexander Bradley was shot multiple times in the right thigh Sunday night outside the Vevo Lounge Bar & Grill in Hartford’s South Meadows neighborhood and was taken to a hospital under police guard, police Lt. Brian Foley said. His condition wasn’t released, but he’s expected to survive.

“Evidence revealed there was a disturbance in the club that was pushed outside by staff, ” Foley said. “At this point, Bradley was shot. Bradley went to a vehicle, got a gun, then shot up the front of the club. ”

Alexander Bradley, who has alleged that Aaron Hernandez shot him in the face last year, was shot in the leg at a Connecticut nightclub Sunday night.

No other injuries were reported. Responding police officers stopped a car that sped away from the club, and an injured Bradley got out and fell to the street, Foley said. Bradley was charged with criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge, stealing a firearm, criminal possession and having a gun with an obliterated serial number.

His Connecticut lawyer, Robert Pickering, hung up the phone on a reporter without commenting Monday.

No one answered the phone Monday morning at the Vevo Lounge. Bradley, an associate of Hernandez, alleges in a Florida lawsuit that he lost his right eye after Hernandez shot him in the face as they argued outside a Miami club last February.

Hernandez is detained on a murder charge in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player whose body was found June 17 near Hernandez’s North Attleborough, Mass., home. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty. Boston police, meanwhile, have linked both Hernandez and Bradley to a double homicide in July 2012. Police believe Hernandez and Bradley were in an SUV when someone inside the vehicle fatally shot Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado in Boston’s South End, according to a search warrant filed by Bristol, Conn., police.

The warrant doesn’t say who investigators believe pulled the trigger in the double killing or suggest a motive. No charges have been filed in the case. The warrant sought recordings of phone calls made by Bradley while he was jailed in Hartford in October for failing to appear before a Massachusetts grand jury investigating the 2012 shootings.Investigators say they found the SUV used in the Boston homicides at the home of Hernandez’s uncle in Bristol. Police say surveillance camera recordings show Hernandez and Bradley going into a Boston nightclub shortly after the shooting victims went into the club. The recordings also show Hernandez driving the SUV out of a nearby parking garage with Bradley as a passenger briefly before the shootings, police said.

Boston police called Hartford police Monday about Bradley’s shooting as part of their investigation, Foley said
