Former Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf is set to be announced as the new West Bromwich Albion boss.
It would also involve some form of compensation, because although Schaaf left Bremen by mutual consent at the end of last season after 14 mainly successful years in charge, he remains under contract to the Bundesliga club.
Bremen have been paying him for the final year of that deal, which expires at the end of the season, and an agreement would need to be struck for him to be released from it.
Negotiations will also have to take place over his backroom staff. West Brom want to keep their existing structure in place, but Schaaf is believed to be keen to work with his former Bremen assistants Wolfgang Rolff and Matthias Hoenerbach.
